, 83, of Rutland died September 6, 2008, at Rutland Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Judd was born in Troy on July 1, 1925, a daughter of Guy and Dorris (Percy) Armstrong. She was the valedictorian of the class of 1943 at Newport Center High School. She married Leon W. Judd on November 25, 1944, in Newport. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rutland, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, and the National Grange. Surviving are her husband, Leon, of Rutland; her son Robert A. Judd and his wife, Gail, of Allison Park, Pennsylvania; her daughter-in-law Ella Judd of Monroe, North Carolina; her sister Lorene V. Graham of Newport; three brothers: Roger G. Armstrong of St. Johnsbury, Leonard R. Armstrong of Danville, and William L. Armstrong of Newport News, Virginia; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Ronald L. Judd in 2002; by her brother Sergeant Gilbert L. Armstrong in 1965; and by her sister Beverly M. Hoadley in 2008. There are no visiting hours or funeral services planned at this time. , 73, of Newport died peacefully September 1, 2008, in Newport. Mr. Guyette was born March 6, 1935, in Newport, a son of Harland and Arlene (Richer) Guyette. He first married Eugenia Gertrude Downing, who predeceased him. He later married Marie LaFlamme, who also predeceased him. He graduated from Newport High School and entered the United States Air Force on June 7, 1956. He was honorably discharged on February 24, 1960. He was a lineman for Citizens Utilities for many years. Prior to his employment with Citizens, he worked for Pike Construction, Seawood Construction in Lebanon, New Hampshire, and Hadley Hospital in Kansas. He held memberships with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 798 of Newport, American Legion Post 21 of Newport, and the Eagles Club. He was a Boston Red Sox fan. He is survived by his four sons: Gary Guyette and his wife, Carolyn, of Newport, Dennis Guyette and his wife, Ginger, of Newport, Mark Guyette and his wife, JoAnne, of Newport, and Timothy Guyette and his wife, Marie, of Norton; by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; by siblings: Arthur Guyette and his wife, Rosalie, of Derby, Leo Guyette and his wife, Joyce, of Newport, Anita Forcier and her husband, Fernand, of Newport, and Roland Guyette and his wife, Sandra, of Vergennes; by several nieces and nephews; by his friend Irene Hrabik of Kansas; and by friends at the "Governor Prouty Inn," especially Isabelle. He was predeceased by his son Terry Bruce Guyette in 1981 and by great-granddaughter Morgan Lapierre. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at a later date in Pine Grove Cemetery. Lottie Gagnon

, 84, of Westfield died peacefully September 3, 2008, with her family by her side. Mrs. Gagnon was born in Londonderry, New Hampshire, on July 11, 1924, one of 13 children of George and Clara Boles. She is survived by her brother George Boles Jr. of Milton, New Hampshire; and by her sister Geraldine Hunt of Farmington, New Hampshire. She was predeceased by her husband, Roland J. Gagnon, to whom she was married for 47 years, in 1993. Together they raised four children who survive her: Jackie Burns and her husband, Bill, of Newport, Jill Fortier and her husband, Bruce, of Westfield, Sandy Davis of Orange City, Florida, and Peter Gagnon and his wife, Karen, of Amherst, New Hampshire. The family enjoyed their early years in California, where they traveled together throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada. They moved to Weare, New Hampshire, and operated the Weare Diner for many years before Mr. Gagnon's retirement took them to St. Petersburg, Florida, in the mid-1970s. In 1989, she and her husband moved to Westfield, where they shared a home with and were lovingly cared for by Bruce and Jill Fortier. During the last two years, Mrs. Gagnon resided at Scenic View where she appreciated the careful attention from the staff and the companionship of the residents. She will be tenderly remembered as a devoted wife and mother. She delighted her family with her home-style cooking and delicious pies. She enjoyed reading, playing cards with her friends, solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and needleworking. She enjoying the simple pleasures she derived from her daily housework. She was the beloved grandmother to ten grandchildren: Lisa Roy, Lynn Munroe, Cynthia Miller, Jeff Fortier, Molly Davis, Matt Davis, Nicole Watson, Mariel Gagnon, Natalie Gagnon, and Sophie Gagnon; and nine great-grandchildren: Jillian Tetreault, Ethan Duncan, Tim and Taylor Roy, Matthew and Ashley Sliva, Luke and Levi Watson, and Kylie Davis. She leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews and special friends with a wish for them to fill each day with happiness. Honoring Mrs. Gagnon's wishes, there will be no funeral service.
Edwin E. Chaffee

, 83, of Newport died peacefully September 3, 2008, at his home, surrounded by his family. Mr. Chaffee was born February 14, 1925, in Newport, a son of Walter and Flora (Shastney) Chaffee. On August 7, 1950, he married Mary Fedele, who survives him. He entered the United States Navy and served his country during World War II. He was a bookkeeper for Associated Insurance Company for 25 years. He was a member of the Masons and the Shrine for more than 60 years. He held memberships with American Legion Post 21 of Newport and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 798. He was a life member of Newport Elks Club 2155, an original member of the Jaycees, and a longtime member of the Newport Country Club and the P.T. Boat Association. He received the Purple Heart and was a member of its association. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, golfing, and collecting stamps. He and his wife were members of the Community Circle, with whom they took many trips, which included traveling to the Caribbean, Europe, and all over the United States, including Alaska. He is survived by his wife, Mary Chaffee, of Newport; by two children, Robert Chaffee and his wife, Lynda, of Morgan and Donna Ratazak and her husband, Robert, of Danville, California; by grandchildren: Tara Patten and her husband, Adam, of Derby, Zachary Chaffee of Morgan, Samantha Chaffee of Morgan, Charles Ratazak of Danville, and Anthony and Cathryn of Danville; by great-grandchildren: Bailey Cloney, Caitlin Patten, and Treyton Patten, all of Derby; by his brother Edward Chaffee and his wife, Rita, of Manchester, New Hampshire; by his sister Priscilla Maslack of Essex Junction; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Helen Chaffee; and by his brother Richard Chaffee. Funeral services were held September 6 in Newport with the Reverend John Keenan officiating. Interment followed in Pine Grove Cemetery in Newport with full military honors. , 63, of Irasburg, well-known businessman, died September 12, 2008, in Newport, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Turner was born December 12, 1944, in Newport, a son of Clesson and Hazel (Desjardins) Turner. He entered the U.S. Army and served his country from 1962 to 1965. On February 10, 1968, he married Mary Jane Burkewitz, who survives him. During his career, he was manager and vice-president of both Chittenden Trust Company and Lyndonville Savings Bank. More recently he was bookkeeper for Wright's Enterprises. At the time of his death, he was working for Roger and Evelyn Lussier as their bookkeeper. He was chief of police for the Orleans Police Department from 1968 to the mid-1970s. He was very active with the Jay Peak Ski Patrol in the late-1960s. He served as selectman, school board member, and board chairman for many years. He was town moderator for 31 years for the town of Irasburg. He held memberships with American Legion Post 21 of Newport and the Order of the Elks 2155 of Newport, and he was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. He was active in the local Diversion Program. He was on the board of Northeast Kingdom Human Services, and he was treasurer for the Salvation Army. He served as chairman and board member of the Orleans Central Supervisory Union and auditor for Lake Region Union High School. He was actively involved for the past 40 years with the Irasburg Church Fair and the Easter sunrise breakfast. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Turner, of Irasburg; by two children, Amy Leroux, her husband, Dale, of Irasburg, and their three sons Elijah, Gardner, and Simon, and Michael Turner of Irasburg, his friend, Kate Petterson, and her children Jarrett and Raegan of Orleans; by his siblings: Paul Turner and his wife, Cindy, of Irasburg, James Turner and his wife, Connie, of Newport, Clair Guiranna and her husband, Carl, of Pennsylvania, Lois Jenks and her husband, Douglas "Peter," of Newport, Ann "Pee Wee" Cote and her husband, Laurent "Sonny," of Westfield, and Linda Lawson of Westfield; by his brother-in-law James Burkewitz and his wife, Cindi, of Arizona; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Clesson and Hazel Turner; by his brother Earl Turner and his wife, Mary; by his parents-in-law, Paul and Hilda Burkewitz; and by his brother-in-law Rodney Burkewitz and his wife, Wanita. of Derby Line died peacefully on September 12, 2008. Mrs. Skochin was born in Somerville, New Jersey. She moved to the Washington, D.C., area, where she lived for almost 40 years with her husband, Edward Skochin, who died in 1990. She spent much of her time volunteering at the Bethlehem House in Washington, D.C. At the time of her death, she was living at Michaud Manor in Derby Line, where she received personal and genuine care. She is survived by her two children, Dolores Petit of Coventry and Kerry Skochin of Derby; and by three grandchildren: Matthew Phelps of Coventry, Ryan Skochin of Columbia, South Carolina, and Jennifer Skochin of Santa Rosa, California. Visiting hours will be Sunday, September 21, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Collins Funeral Home in Silver Spring, Maryland. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 22, at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Wheaton, Maryland, followed by burial at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring. , 55, of Jeffersonville died peacefully on September 12, 2008, with her family by her side. Ms. Reinhardt was born November 8, 1952, and grew up in Greensboro Bend, a daughter of Leo and Theresa Hussey. She is survived by her daughter Andrea Reinhardt of Vista, California; by her loving companion, Douglas McLellan, of Jeffersonville; by her brother Dennis Hussey of Newport, his wife, Pauline, and their two daughters Amy and Brandi; by her brother Tony Hussey of Hardwick; by her sister Rachelle Holmes of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, her husband, Tab, and their daughter Tiffany; and by a host of relatives and friends. Her passions were cooking, baking, and enjoying life and laughter with friends and family. She enjoyed working with her friends at Smuggler's Notch for eight years.

announces with sorrow the death of their beloved father and grandfather on August 27, 2008. Mr. Lonsdale lived in Glover and died at age 70. Mr. Lonsdale was born in Hartford, Connecticut, on July 29, 1938, a son of Gresham Lonsdale and Dorathy (Wheatly) Powers, who predeceased him. His daughter Sheri and brothers George and James Lonsdale predeceased him as well. He is survived by his children Tracey Lonsdale-Abramczyk and Peter of Newington, Connecticut, and Kimberly Lonsdale and Paul Girard Sr. of New Britain, Connecticut; by grandchildren: Jesse, Michael, Shane, Amber, Paulie, and Kasondra of Connecticut; by stepsister Eileen LaVallee and her husband, Robert, of Stafford, Connecticut; by good friends and cousins Michael Bonning and Sandra "Banana"; by several nieces and nephews; and by his companions Timber, his dog, and Oliver, his cat. While living in Connecticut, he worked for Dunnham-Bush Double Transportation as a minibus driver for the town of Rocky Hill. In the aftermath of September 11, 2001, he volunteered for the Red Cross for two weeks in New York City. He moved to Glover from Connecticut to care for his mother, Dorathy Powers, and soon became friends with many local people. He volunteered for meals on wheels in Hardwick and the Barton Senior Center meals site. He was known for his many walks to the Glover Village store and the Busy Bee with Timber, his faithful dog. His most loved hobby was whittling canes and walking sticks, which he gave to many of his friends. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and attending church. He will be deeply missed by family and friends. The family would like to thank the community of Glover for all their help and kindness. Graveside services will be held at Westlook Cemetery in Glover on Sunday, September 21, for friends and family. , 89, of Orleans died in Barton on Wednesday, September 10, 2008. Mrs. Lanoue was born February 21, 1919, in Irasburg, a daughter of Donat and Jeanne (Stuart) Campbell. She married Roland Lanoue in 1940. He predeceased her on June 21, 2008. She worked as a seamstress at a local dress factory for three years and at Newport Plastics, from which she retired after seven years. She did alterations out of her home for years as a hobby for family and friends, needlepoint, and cross-stitch. She liked to cook and play cards with her husband and her family members. She was very devoted to her family and always enjoyed their visits and family gatherings. She was a very generous and giving person who enjoyed helping others. She was a longtime member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Orleans. She is survived by her children: Yvon Lanoue and his wife, Doris, of Westfield, Gerard "Poly" Lanoue and his wife, Monica, of South Egremont, Massachusetts, Ronald Lanoue and his companion, Donna Greenwood, of Irasburg, Joan Firkey of Orange Park, Florida, and Louise Miles of Westbrook, Maine; son-in-law Fern Tanguay of Barton; daughter-in-law Elaine Lanoue of Jacksonville, Florida; brothers: Leopold of Newport, Raymond of Irasburg, and Fernand and his wife, Monique, of Irasburg; and by sister Jeannette Bentley of Missouri. She was predeceased by her daughter Claire Tanguay; by her son Larry Lanoue; by her brother Romuald "Pitou" Campbell; by her sister Theresa Campbell; and by her son-in-law David Firkey. , 62, of Coventry died suddenly on September 13, 2008, in Newport. Mr. Gosselin was born September 10, 1946, in Morrisville. He worked at the mines in Lowell for more than 30 years. He held membership with the Knights of Columbus Gibbons Council 2285 of Newport. He liked to hunt and fish. He loved to ride his four-wheeler and work around his property with his tractor, cutting wood and doing other miscellaneous jobs. He was a man who enjoyed life, his family, and his close friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Archambault) Gosselin, of Coventry; by two sons, Danny Gosselin Sr. and Edward Gosselin and his fiancée, Cindy Cook; by four grandchildren: Danny Gosselin Jr. and Tiana, Naula, and Luke Gosselin; by extended family members: Crystal, Amanda, and Alma Cook; by his sisters: Theresa Lawson, Diana McAllister and her husband, Vincent, Annette Willis and her husband, Milton, and Rose Marie Macie; and by several nieces and nephews. , 68, of Glover died in Burlington on September 12, 2008, after a short illness, with his loving wife, Gracie, at his bedside. Mr. Caslani was born April 14, 1940, in Roxbury. As a young man he served in Vietnam and supported many veterans' causes. He loved his motorcycle, and he and his wife, Gracie, took many bike trips up and down the East Coast. They were married in 1998, bought their property in Glover in 1999, and then began to build their own home with the help of their neighbors on Dexter Mountain, especially Russell Darling. He was deeply loved by his wife, Gracie; by Stacey, Kayli, Alan, and Jamie; by his parents-in-law, Grace and John; and by his brother-in-law John and his wife, Karen. He loved horses, and even though he was in a lot of discomfort, he was able to take his last horse ride with his granddaughter Kayli. He was a man who enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He was very fond of eagles and had an extensive collection of eagle memorabilia. He was a fan of NASCAR, the Boston Red Sox, and the Washington Redskins. He was well-loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

, 90, of Orleans died peacefully September 10, 2008, at her home. Mrs. Bousquet was born February 1, 1918, in Adams, Massachusetts, a daughter of Frank and Edith Maynard. On November 20, 1934, she married Edward Bousquet, who predeceased her on September 3, 1981. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, baking, and birdwatching. She also enjoyed being with her whole family. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 798 Auxiliary of Newport. She is survived by her children: Lester Bousquet and his wife, Sandra, of Lisbon, New Hampshire, Carol Santaw of Lyndonville, and Betty Young and her husband, Robert, of Orleans; by 15 grandchildren; by numerous great-grandchildren; and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was the one remaining survivor of 15 children. There will be no funeral services. , 73, of Glover died Friday morning, September 12, 2008, at Union House Nursing Home in Glover, following a brief illness. Mr. Ashe was born October 9, 1934, in Sheffield, a son of Fern and Marguerite (Salmon) Ashe. In 1952 he graduated from Lyndon Institute. He served his country in the U.S. Army. On April 2, 1960, he married Corinne "Connie" Larkham at Norwichtown Congregational Church in Norwich, Connecticut. He worked at Pratt and Whitney in North Haven, Connecticut, and Holdridge Farm Nursery in Ledyard, Connecticut. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service following 30 years as a letter carrier in Norwich, Connecticut, where he enjoyed walking his route and seeing all of his patrons. He and his wife owned a small farm in Canterbury, Connecticut, where their children and family raised and showed sheep. During those years he was a 4-H leader and Sunday school teacher. He always found room for one more stray animal. In 2000, they moved back home to Vermont and built a retirement home on Shadow Lake in Glover. He loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, and especially sharing a hunting camp in Granby with his friends, sons, and grandsons. Survivors include his wife, Connie Ashe, of Glover; three children: Debra Seibert and her husband, Kevin, of Ephrata, Pennsylvania, Brian Ashe and his wife, Lois, of Walpole, Massachusetts, and Daniel Ashe of Enfield, Connecticut; four grandsons: Casey and Timothy Seibert and Christopher and Jonathan Ashe; his brother Reginald Ashe and his wife, Lynn, of White River Junction; his wife's family: AlleneHoldridge of Ledyard, EveralLarkham and his wife, Cyndi, of Wentworth, Missouri, and DelvaLarkham and his wife, Suzanne, of Baltic, Connecticut; a close family friend, Jenny Bell of Connecticut, who was like a daughter to him; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including a special cousin, Gwen Maynard of Glover. Funeral services were held September 15 at the Lyndon Center Baptist Church with Pastor John Snow officiating. Burial will be in Westlook Cemetery in Glover followed by fellowship time at the Glover Community Church.
