, MD of Lyndon, died Wednesday morning, July 9, 2008, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital of injuries sustained in a July 7 accident. He was born in St. Johnsbury, Jan. 16, 1946, the son of Herbert and June (Hall) Elliott. His father passed away in 1990. After attending St. Johnsbury elementary and middle schools, John graduated from Lyndon Institute in 1964, Tufts University in 1968, and UVM Medical School in 1972. Following a rotating internship at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Penn., Dr. Elliott worked one year in the emergency room at Putnam Memorial Hospital in Bennington. There he met his future wife, Martha Romlein. He joined friend and colleague Dr. Lloyd "Tim" Thompson at The Doctor's Office on Main Street in Lyndonville. They went on to establish Corner Medical. He is survived by his wife, Martha; two children Rachael Elliott and husband, Jeff Rawson, of Burlington, and Matthew Elliott and Valeria Tumasella of St. Johnsbury; his mother, June H. Elliott of St. Johnsbury; one sister Sandria Ebbett and husband, Ballard of Kirby and their three sons Augustus, Elliott, and Patrick; one brother, Stephen Elliott and wife, Marjorie, of Bridgewater, Mass., and their two sons Oliver and Justin; his mother-in-law Eunice Romlein of St. Johnsbury; two brothers-in-law Timothy and Donald; two sisters-in-law Karen and Beth; and all their families. All are welcome to attend a simple public gathering of remembrance on the green at Bandstand Park in Lyndonville Sunday, 7 to 8 p.m. (People may park along the green or behind the municipal building). A service for his family and the Corner Medical family will be observed privately. , of Lyndon, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at the age of 71. He was born in St. Johnsbury, June 19, 1937, the son of Gordon and Doris (Pratt) Fleming. He was raised by Gordon and Florence Neil Fleming who combined the Fleming-Neil families as one. Bob graduation from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1957. He served in the US Army from 1959 to 1962. The majority of his working life was spent operating heavy equipment. Many of his friends called him "Jose." He is survived by his wife Jennifer (Jones) Fleming; two children Karen Clouatre and husband Stephen of Portland, Maine, and Matthew Fleming, cmdr. of the USS Nicholas, and wife Carrie, of Stafford, Va.; seven grandchildren, Justin, Erik, Patrick, Mitchell, Nickolaus, Alyson, and Elizabeth; his loving mother Florence Fleming of St. Johnsbury; six surviving brothers and sisters, Bernard Neil of Bellows Falls, Bryant Fleming and wife Lyn of Waterford, James Neil and wife Sue of Claremont, N.H., Muriel Clark and husband Bob of Barre, Sharon Fleming of Hartford, Conn., and Brenda Fleming of Florida; sister-in-law Andrea Neil of West Glover; nieces and nephews; and his dog Sammy. He was predeceased by his father, Gordon; two brothers David and Walter Neil, and two infant brothers Lloyd and Bruce Fleming. Memorial services will be held on Friday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m., at the Lyndonville United Methodist Church. The pastor, the Rev. Barbara Dwyer, will officiate. , 78, of Route 102, Guildhall, died Wednesday morning July 9, 2008, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, N.H. Klinefelter was born in Gilead, Maine, on March 31, 1930, the son of John Richard and Albina (Bergeron) Klinefelter. John was a 1948 graduate of Canaan High School, Canaan, where he was an outstanding athlete particularly in baseball and basketball. For 22 years he served with the US Navy and was on active duty during the Vietnam War and the Korean Conflict. Returning to the North Country he worked many years as an electrician for Groveton Paper until his retirement. In the town of Guildhall he held several offices including those of Selectman and Tax Collector. He also coached youth baseball and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Memberships include the Benton Lodge F & AM #88, Guildhall, the UPIU, PACE, and USW Local 61. Family members include his wife of 48 years, Marion (Hodge) Klinefelter of Guildhall; a son William J. Klinefelter of Alexandria, Va.; a brother Leslie Klinefelter of Canaan; three grandchildren, Chris, Amanda, and Sarah; and two great-grandsons, Joe and Adam. A brother, George Klinefelter predeceased him. Visiting hours will be held Friday, July 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. and again at 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Masonic service will be held at 7:45 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Guildhall Community Church. Rev. Gerry Piper of Danville will officiate. , 68, of Barnet and a former resident of Bradford, died Friday, July 4, 2008, at the St. Johnsbury's Health and Rehab in St. Johnsbury, after a long illness. She was born on Jan. 10, 1940, in New Haven, Conn., the daughter of James and Martha (Williams) Callahan. Barbara moved to Vermont in 1984, where she was employed as a cook for Bromley Ski Area until 1986 when she moved to West Fairlee. She was employed at the Fairlee Diner for a number of years. She had also been a CNA in Connecticut and Vermont. She was a volunteer at the Newbury Christian School where she helped the children learn to read or with any of their studies where they needed assistance. Barbara most enjoyed time with her family, especially her grandchildren, she loved nature, but most of all she enjoyed helping those in need. She had a great love of children and animals. She was a very kind and generous person who is deeply loved and will be sadly missed by all those who knew her. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Jean and Tim Gibbs of Barnet; one granddaughter, Christina Knapik of Barnet; one sister, Jean Callahan of Connecticut; and several half brothers and sisters as well as aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews in Connecticut and Vermont. She was predeceased by one grandson, Tim Gibbs on May 9, 2004. At Barbara's request there will be no funeral services. , age 64, passed away on Thursday, July 10, at the Lafayette Health Center, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Sylvia was born on May 1, 1944, a daughter to George and Flossie (Miller) Stygles in Waterville. She attended school in Waterville and later moved to Bethlehem, N.H. Sylvia's loves in life were her family and friends, her dog, Doc "her special baby," and gardening. Sylvia is survived by three sons, Harry and Anita Sidney of St. Johnsbury, Raymond E. Sidney, Jr., of Bethlehem, N.H., and Cris and Diane Sidney of Bethlehem, N.H.; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, husband, Raymond E. Sidney on March 20, 2008, and two brothers, Raymond and Douglas. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 15, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. A Graveside committal service will be held on Friday, July 19, at 2 p.m. in the Maple Street Cemetery in Bethlehem, N.H. with Rev. , died July 4, 2008, at 4:43 a.m. at the age of 74 after battling a long illness with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard D., Sr., and Lillian Bothwell Stabley and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Ben is survived by his wife of 50 years, Hillis McKamey Stabley; his son, Bernard D. (Ben) Stabley III and his wife Pattie of Lancaster, Pa; Marcy Stabley Miller of Gilman; Gray Stabley Carmichael and her husband Rob of Portland, Maine; sister Rebecca Breen and her husband Robert; a niece Pamela Snyder and Nephew Gary Twiggs. Ben had six grandchildren, Lily and Owen Miller, Melissa Bragg, L.B., Correy and Callie Stabley, and one great grandchild, Victoria Bragg. Before moving to Vermont, Ben worked as a chemist for Firestone in Hopewell, Va., for 14 years and for Honeywell as an Analytical Chemist for 16 years. His love of music endorsed his desires to help the needy. He played the piano for the Lion's Club Shows in Chester, Va., for 17 years and also at Trinity United Methodist Church for three years in Chesterfield, Va., to help raise money to pay for the organ for the sanctuary. Ben was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Ben was the music director for the Franconia Community Church of Christ in Franconia, N.H. When he started at the church, his family followed and Ben use to say, "Have altos, will follow." A memorial service will be held on July 27, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Franconia Community Church of Christ in Franconia, N.H. Reverends Bill Briggs and Don Thomas will officiate.

passed away in St. Johnsbury on July 10, 2008, at the age of 92. Shirley was born in Orange on June 7, 1916, the daughter of Clyde and Elizabeth (Watson) Rogers. She attended Orange graded schools and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1933. She graduated from Lyndon Normal School in 1938. Shirley taught one year in Washington. On Feb. 19, 1939, Shirley married Gordon Boardman and four children were born to them. She was active in the Portland Street PTA and the North Congregational Church in St. Johnsbury. She served on various committees and taught Sunday school for several years. Shirley enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing, family gatherings, card and word games, and traveling. Shirley is survived by one daughter, Julie Boardman of St. Johnsbury; one sister, Vivian Freeman of Orange; sisters-in-law Phyllis Powers and Frieda Powell; grandchildren, Aryn Holloway and husband Blaine, Callan Boardman, Brendan Boardman and partner Kate Brown, Michelle Griffin and partner Lee Smith, Norene Menard and husband Stephen Johnson, Elaine Ducharme and husband Anthony, and Lance Boardman and wife Angie; great-grandchildren, Rose, Tyler, and Dallas Holloway; Devon, Brendan, and Summer Boardman; Brie-Anna Menard; Esther and Cora Durcharme; Landon and Quincy Boardman; several step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Gordon Boardman; her two sons, Lance Boardman and James Boardman; her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Michael Griffin; sisters and husbands Virginia and Alfred Higgs, Florence and Alden Davis, and Dorothy and John Cimino; sister Lorraine Cerutti; brother and wife, Robert and Mazel Rogers; and brothers-in-law, Bernard Freeman, Gerald Boardman, Charles Powers, and Carlos Powell. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 1 p.m. at the North Congregational Church in St. Johnsbury.

, 63, formerly of Bethlehem, N.H., passed away Thursday, July 10, 2008, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer at her retirement home in Tucson, Ariz. "Bobbie" was the long-time Library Media Specialist at Littleton High School, and in her retirement worked at the Littleton Public Library. She was active in community affairs in Bethlehem serving as a library trustee and as an active volunteer for the Forest Society. A native of Fall River, Mass., she received the degree of Master of Education from the University System of New Hampshire. She also authored the first editions of the Activities for the Occupational Outlook Handbook series. She will be remembered by her children Joseph and Jean Cabaup, grand-children Katherine, Jonathon, and Emily and their mother Jenny Burns, and grand-daughter Danielle. Private services will be held in Tucson, Ariz. Those wishing to remember Bobbie are urged to offer a gift to their favorite charity in memory of her life and work.

, recently of Kirby, passed away on July 9, 2008, one day before his 83rd birthday, at Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport, Maine. He was born in Manchester, N.H., the son of Ida and Howard Noyes, a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with an interruption while serving in the U. S. Army's occupation forces in South Korea. He married his wife, Joanne, in 1953 and resided in Townsend, Mass., where his daughter Pamela was born. He also was stepfather to Joanne's two sons, Gordon and Geoff Noble. After moving to Ipswich, Mass., Ed managed a fuel service office while restoring an 1800's Federal Farmhouse. There, Ed and Joanne opened a ski shop, which they ran for 12 years. After living in Ipswich, Ed and Joanne moved to Kirby, building a house close to where their daughter had attended Burke Mountain Academy. Ed's life was centered around skiing. He was nicknamed "Fast Eddy" on the mountain. He was one of the crew at the Village Sport Shop in Lyndonville. In 2006 Ed and Joanne moved to Camden, Maine, to be close to their daughter, Pam, where she lives with her husband Kenneth Twaddel, a native of Portland, with their daughter Rebecca and son Max. The cause of Ed's death was heart failure complicated by Alzheimer's disease. The family will gather at Burke Mountain in the early Fall for a memorial service.

, 58, of Williams Street, Lancaster, N.H., died July 11, 2008, at Country Village Genesis Eldercare. Sargent was born in Littleton, N.H., on May 25, 1950, the son of George Sargent and Marjorie (Young) Sargent. Kevin was raised in Littleton and worked for many years as a mechanic in Littleton and Delaware. He also worked as a commercial painter in Littleton for many years. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, NASCAR racing and spending time with his grandchildren. Kevin is survived by two sons, Kevin Sargent, Jr., and his wife, Bridget, of Passumpsic, and David Sargent and his partner, Theresa Newland, of Danville; three daughters, Lisa Manville and her husband, Ron, of Lancaster, N.H., Heather Lane and her partner, Kevin Wilkinson, of East Concord, and Angela Lane of Danville; and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Caroline Bailey and her husband, Allen, of Dover, Del., Alicia Sargent of Littleton, N.H.; four aunts Glenna Toney of Littleton, N.H., Muriel Sanborn of Dover Del., Marilyn Lehan and her husband, James, of Florida, and Lillian Young of Littleton, N.H. A memorial service will be held at Bailey Funeral Home on Friday evening, July 18, at 6 p.m. Father Raymond Ball, pastor at All Saints Church, will officiate.

died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at The Canterbury Inn in St. Johnsbury at the age of 103. Smith was born in Newport, June 27, 1905, the daughter of Rufus and Elfrieda (Welch) Brown. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Burnie S. Smith, in 1974, and by her daughter Shirley Ann Smith Brount in 1992. She was also predeceased by seven sisters, Kathleen Wheeler, Grace Whitehill, Gladys Bennett, Hattie Tabor, Cornelia Reid, Annis Chappell, and Eloise Schofield; seven brothers, Horace Cummins Brown (as a baby), Henry Brown, Horace Stuart Brown, Bernard Brown, Wells Brown, Alton Brown, and Donald Brown; and three half-brothers, Eben Brown, Archibald Brown and Edgar Brown. Smith was a graduate of Derby Academy and taught in a one-room school in Glover for two years before marrying on Aug. 9, 1927. She lived for most her married life at Comerford Station in East Barnet where she was a member of the East Barnet Congregational Church. She was also a member of the Diamond Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Danville. Following the death of her husband, she lived on Clarks Ave. in St. Johnsbury. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Peggy (Peake) Smith, of Waynesville N.C., (P.O. Box 1546, 28786); five grandchildren, Vicki Smith O'Mara, Terri Smith Goldich, Rickey Brount, Ronald Brount, and Randi Brount Linke; and seven great-grandchildren. A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, July 22, at 11 a.m., at the Sayles Funeral Home with a reception to follow. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Barnet village at the convenience of the family.
