, age 77, of St. Johnsbury, passed away Monday, June 30, 2008, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born Jan. 20, 1931, in Barnet, she is the daughter of the late Warren S. and Maude (Douglas) Chapman. She graduated from Danville High School class of 1949. Theda married Cecil A. Williams Jan. 12, 1950, on the McDowell Farm in Danville. She enjoyed her family, family gatherings, church functions, the Goss Hollow Homemaking group, and flower gardening. Theda is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Cecil A. Williams of St. Johnsbury; two daughters and their husbands, Diane and Paul Lamont of St. Johnsbury, Dawna and Joseph Johnson of Pottersville, N.Y.; daughter in law, Tammy Williams of Sheffield; six grandchildren, Amanda Fenoff and husband Trent, Jamie Lamont, Bryana Williams, Dylan Williams, Jessica Pearsons, Cody Pearsons; and two great grandchildren, Riley Fenoff, Madisyn Lamont. She was predeceased by a son, Kevin M. Williams; brothers, Max Chapman, Loren Chapman; and sister Thelma Benedict. A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 3, 11 a.m., in the Passumpsic Community Baptist Church located at 4331 U.S. Route 5 South, Passumpsic, with the Rev. Steve Clark, officiating. , of 69 Brightlook Drive, in St. Johnsbury, passed away at The Pines in Lyndon Monday, June 30, 2008, at the age of 93. He was born in Fall River, Mass., Nov. 18, 1914, the son of the late A. Edgar and Sarah (Coe) Hanson. Ed attended schools in Massachusetts and graduated from the University of Maine in 1936. He worked in Boston for Fairbanks Morse as a sales rep in Vermont. In 1944 he purchased Counsell Co. on Railroad Street and sold farm machinery and appliances. In1976 he retired and liquidated the company. He married Ruth Sparrow of St. Johnsbury Feb. 22, 1944. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, the St. Johnsbury Country Club, and the St. Johnsbury Rotary Club. After retirement he and Ruth enjoyed traveling and golfing throughout the country. He is survived by his wife Ruth (Sparrow) Hanson; two sons, William Coe Hanson and wife Marcia of San Antonio, Texas, (3418 Shallow Grove, San Antonio, TX 78247), and Alfred Edward Hanson and wife Margaret of Montrose, N.Y. (14 High St., Montrose, NY 10548); four granddaughters, Katie Hanson of San Antonio, Texas, Meg Greiner and husband Dave of Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., Sarah Jaramillo and husband Kenneth of Charlotte, N.C., and Amy Hanson of Charlotte, N.C.; three great-grandsons Michael Greiner, Connor and Zachary Jaramillo; and two nieces. He was predeceased by his brother Alfred Hanson and his wife Miriam, as well as one nephew. A graveside service at Passumpsic Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. , age 89, of Country Village Center, died June 30, 2008. Henson was born June 20, 1919, at Forest Home, Ala., the daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude L. Watt. A graduate of Greenville Alabama High School, Henson attended Alabama College, Montvallo, Ala., where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree. She taught school, was a stewardess for Capital Air Lines and also worked as a secretary for the Adjutant General at Headquarters Replacement and School Command located in Birmingham, Alabama. She was also a Red Cross Staff Director in the Panama Canal Zone.

, of the Lepine Farm on Pudding Hill Road in Sutton, passed away at home peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, June 29, 2008, at the age of 73. Janice was born May 14, 1935, in Lyndon, the daughter of Stephen F. and Joyce (Wilder) Morse. She graduated from Lyndon Institute in 1953 and later from Lyndon State College. She worked at Lyndon State College for 28 years, having previously worked at Vermont American Co. She enjoyed gardening and knitting for family and friends. Janice was a member of the Lyndonville United Methodist Church and the Lyndon Corner Grange. She is survived by her husband of 54 years Robert Lepine Sr. of Sutton; two sons: Robert 'Bob' Lepine Jr. of Lyndon, Russell Lepine and wife Kristen of Lyndon; four grandchildren: Bobbi Jo Lepine and companion Kresten Sterling, Billie Jo Bandy and husband Doug, Rene Lepine, and Felicity Lepine; six great-grandchildren: Jaden, Jasper, Jacoy, Sage, Chevy, and Jordan; one brother: Stephen Morse Jr. and wife Barbara of Ellijay, Ga.; three sisters: Marilyn Sackett and husband Dean of Aiken, S.C., Beverly Mayo of Lyndonville, Stephanie Grotz and husband Stefan of Monterey, Mass.; brother-in-law Gayland Simpson of Texas; nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a sister Nancy Simpson. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 2, at 2 p.m. at the Lyndonville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Barbara Dwyer officiating. Committal services will follow the service at Lyndon Center Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. of Boltonville, died at Cottage Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Randolph, Mass., on Jan. 18, 1942. She was married to Gerald Robarge of Springfield, Mass., on March 7, 1942, and had two daughters, Patricia A. Parent, of Boltonville, and Claite L. Hynek, of Stafford Springs, Conn. They resided in Stafford Springs until Gerald's untimely death in 1957. She later married William Fayant of Willimansett, Mass., on March 1, 1962, and they had a daughter, Marie C. Hawkins of Jackson, Miss. Because of the nature of Wiliam's occupation, theyt traveled extensively throughout the United States and retiring in Carthage, Miss. She is preceeded by the death of her younger brother Kenneth Zielfelder of Springfield, Mass., and leaves another younger brother Robert Zielfelder of Ellington, Conn. She also leaves her three daughters, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In recent years, she resided with her daughter and son-in-law Robert on Summer Street in St. Johnsbury, several years at the St. Johnsbury House and finally in Boltonville, where she lived until her death. She was interred on Saturday, June 28, at the West Barnet Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 5 at 2 p.m.

, 88, of Piermont, N.H., died on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, N.H. Mildred was born in Pike, N.H., on Jan. 27, 1920, to Harold and Lucy (Sawyer) Hill. She graduated from Haverhill Academy in 1938 and married Ernest D. Hartley on Aug. 24, 1939. She was a member and served as an officer in the VFW Post #5245 Auxiliary in North Haverhill, N.H., the Piermont Fire Department Auxiliary, the "Watch'em Pop's" and the Haverhill Home Dem. Mildred was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Ernest, on April 11, 2007; a great-granddaughter, Brittney Hartley; a sister, Gladys Emerson; and a brother, Frederick M. Jones on Feb. 1, 2008. She is survived by her daughter Diane Hartley Winot and husband Bill of Piermont; three sons, Ernest W. Hartley Sr. of Lebanon, N.H., Wendell F. Hartley Sr. and wife June of Bradford, Vt., and Ronald E. Hartley and social partner Hector Alvarado of Lima, Peru; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Celia Ball of Warren, N.H., Dorothy Verrill of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Hazel Ames of Woodsville, N.H.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A celebration of Mildred's life will be held on Monday, July 7, at 1 p.m. at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch St., Woodsville, N.H., with the Rev. Cynthia Batten officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery, Piermont, N.H. , Sr., 29 of St. Johnsbury, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 1, 2008. He was born Oct. 5, 1978, in Burlington. The son of Michael and Marge Carter of West Burke and Reggie Chamberlain of North Carolina. Derick is survived by his parents; fiancée Sabrina Miller; his son, Derick Morse, Jr. (5) and daughter, Elizabeth Morse (2); a sister, Dawn Sanborn and family; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and many more people that cared for and loved him so much. He was predeceased by his brother, Danny Morse, in 1998. He worked for Gils Construction in St. Johnsbury for eight years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved going to the races and collecting NASCAR #3 and #29. He also enjoyed spending time with family. Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 5, 1:30 p.m. in the Sutton Village Cemetery. , 71, of St. Johnsbury, died Thursday afternoon July 03, 2008, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury. He was born Dec. 8, 1936, in Portland, Maine, the son of James Locke and Ella (Hynes). He was raised by his mother and stepfather, who adopted him, Coleman and Ella Jones. James worked for Noyes Tire Co. in Maine and St. Johnsbury for 10 years. He then worked for C.N. Brown Co. in St. Johnsbury before working for Bradford Oil Co. where he was the manager at Go Go Gas in St. Johnsbury for many years. He enjoyed fishing and camping at Harvey's Lake in Barnet with family and friends. During the 1960s, he spent many weekends at Northeastern Speedway in Waterford, helping friends in the pits work on their race cars. Survivors include his daughter, Wendy Newland and her husband, Layton, of East Burke; three grandchildren, Rae Ann Salibi, Kara and James Staub, and Kerry and Melanie Newland; six great grandchildren, Courtney Lynn, Colby Alan, and Cordell Staub, and Kyla, Samuel, and Matthew Newland; and a special friend, Flossie Mathewson of St. Johnsbury and her family. He was predeceased by his wife, whom he married in 1954 in Portland, Maine, Nadine (Lyon) Jones in 1996; his parents; and three sisters, Jonie Collins, Betty, and Judy Villereal. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in St. Johnsbury.

, 22, of Lyndonville, died early Saturday morning July 5, 2008, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., following an automobile accident in Lyndon Friday evening. He was born May 7, 1986, in Fort Carson, Colo., a son of Michael and Lynn (McClintock) Witter. In 2005 he graduated from Lyndon Institute. Jeremy worked as a landscaper with Kingdom Landscape in Lyndon for the past three years. He also worked part time at the Village Sport Shop in Lyndonville. He had been a member of the Lyndonville Fire Department for three years beginning while he was in high school. A warm, loving and caring person with a heart of gold and great sense of humor, Jeremy was loved by all who knew him. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, dirt biking, weightlifting at the Old Mill in St. Johnsbury, and hanging out with family and friends. Survivors include his mother, Lynn Witter of Lyndonville (P.O. Box 384 Lyndon Center, VT 05850); his father, Michael Witter of Burlington; two brothers, Darren Martin and wife Jen of Burlington and their children Emma Lynn and Liam Oliver, and his twin brother, Justin Witter and Kaitlyn Poulin of Lyndonville; his sister, Kristin Witter of Lyndonville; his grandparents, John and Celia McClintock of Burlington; and his close friend, Luke Zaun. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins, including his Auntie Gail and Uncle Tom Moreau and their children Nathan and Erin of Burlington to whom he was very close; and many good friends. Friends may call on the family Tuesday, July 8, from 5-8 p.m. at the Guibord Funeral Home. , 79, of Newport Center, died peacefully on July 4, 2008, at the Maple Lane Nursing Home in Barton. She was born on June 19, 1929, in Newport a daughter of Earle and Bernice (King) Odell. She graduated from Newport High School. On April 13, 1948, she married Gerard Bouffard who predeceased her on Aug. 31, 2007. In her earlier years she was a telephone operator in Newport in the 1950s. She also worked for Sears and Roebuck store in Newport and she and her husband owned and operated the Needle Craft Shop in Newport for several years where she taught many people the joys of her crafts. She will be remembered for her quilting, knitting, crocheting, needle point and painting. Frances held membership with St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Newport, Quilting Guild, and North Country Square dancers. She is survived by her children, Dennis Bouffard and his wife Katherine of Sutton, David Bouffard and his wife Beth of Newport, and Kathy B. Millen of West Yarmouth, Mass., and by her grandchildren, Jon, Heidi, Wendy, Melissa, Benjamin, Thomas, Gregory, and Kaitlyn, and also by four great-grandchildren, by a brother-in-law Paul Bouffard and his wife Denise of Newport and two sisters-in-law Rita and Pauline Bouffard of Newport and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Kenneth Odell. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday July 7, 2008, at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road, Newport. of St. Johnsbury passed away Thursday, July 3, 2008. Her husband, Judson P. Smith, died Jan. 4, 2007. She was born in St. Johnsbury, April 2, 1928, the daughter of Robert L. and Marion (Matheson) Hale. She graduated from Montpelier High School and the University of Vermont. The Smiths lived on Summer Street in St. Johnsbury where they raised their boys Bradley and Mark; they later built their dream home on Sylvain Road. Bobbi was a speech pathologist in public schools and was a member of the South Congregational Church. She was part of a circle of friends who remained very close over the years. She and husband Jud had resided at Eagle Crest in Williston. Son Mark passed away May 18, 2005. She is survived by son Bradley and wife Brooke Stahle of Colchester (56 Stone Dr. 05446); grandchildren Leigh Marie Smith and fiancé Chris Galipeau of Shelburne, Shelby Lynn Padulo and husband Chris of Hyde Park, Rye Stahle-Smith and Kate Stahle-Smith of Colchester, Tara Rae Smith of Johnson, Tyler George Smith of St. Johnsbury, Tanner Sumner Smith of Bennington; her sister Margaret Sawyer and husband Ed of Richmond, Mass.; and nieces and nephews. A simple service of remembrance will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home this Friday, July 11 at 1 p.m. The Rev. Dr. William Schutter, pastor of the South Congregational Church, will officiate. of Lincoln, Ark., died Aug. 27, 2007, in North Little Rock, Ark., after a short illness. He was 77. Marnel was born March 9, 1930, in St. Johnsbury, the son of Nelson and Marion (Tillotson) Harran. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Air Force. He married J. Roberta Harpin on Nov. 18, 1956, in Passumpsic. She died on Nov. 9, 2005. Marnel had a love for the open road and spent many years as a truck driver for St. Johnsbury Trucking Co., before retiring. He will be greatly missed by his two sons Franklyn and Howard Harran, both of MaryEsther, Fla.; two daughters Janel Bedor of Lincoln, Ark., Marja Mayes of Pace, Fla; one brother Donne Harran of St. Johnsbury; five grandchildren Sarah Harran, Curtis and Conner Bedor, Austin and Dylan Mayes. Burial with full military honors will be held at the Passumpsic Cemetery on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at 11 a.m. John Sleeper will officiate. , 62, of Groton, died on Monday, July 7, 2008, at her home on Scott Highway in Groton. She was born in Johnson, S.C., Sept. 8, 1945, the daughter of Clarence and Bertha Lee (Pilot) Terry. Jeannette married lifelong husband Bradley E. Houghton Sr. on Feb. 14, 1973. They moved to Vermont in 1982 after her husband retired from the U.S. Army. She worked as an LPN for Wanda's Nursing Home in Bradford, and at Brookside Nursing Home in Wilder, until 1993. Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Bradley E. Houghton Sr. of Groton; three sons, Charles Thomas and family of Alapaha, Ga., Bradley E. Houghton Jr. and family of Groton, and George B. Houghton and family also of Groton; one daughter, Hazel L. Thomas and family of Groton; one step daughter, Linda Lucas and Linda's daughter, Misty Lucas both of Wise, Va.; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. There will be calling hours on Thursday, July 10, 2008, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch St., Woodsville, N.H. , 68, of Barnet and a former resident of Bradford, died Friday, July 4, 2008, at the St. Johnsbury's Health and Rehab in St. Johnsbury. She was born on Jan. 10, 1940, in New Haven, Conn., the daughter of James and Martha (Williams) Callahan. She attended schools in New Haven. Barbara had been a pizza cook for Pepe's of Westville, Conn., for many years before moving to Vermont in 1984, she than was employed as a cook for Bromley Ski Area and than moved to West Fairlee, where she was employed for the Fairlee Diner for a number of years. She had also been a CNA in Connecticut and Vermont. Barbara enjoyed long rides with her grandchildren, bird watching, nature and was very giving of her time to anybody that needed it. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Tim Gibbs of Barnet; one granddaughter, Christine Knapik of Barnet; one sister, Jean Callahan of Conn.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one grandson, Tim Gibbs on May 9, 2004. At Barbara's request there will be no funeral services. She was born on Sept. 9, 1911, in Stannard, a daughter of Theodore and Bertha (Dezan) Gochie. On Oct. 14, 1929, she married Reuben G. Richardson who predeceased her on April 3, 1998. She is survived by a son Everett Richardson and his wife Shirley of Orleans; a daughter Esther Thomas and her late husband Louis of Monroe, N.H.; by six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers and a sister, Howard Brown, Vern Gochie, Roland Gochie, Herschel Brown, and Elma Martin, and by one grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, at the St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Orleans with the Rev. Dallas St. Peter celebrating a mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow at the St. Theresa's Cemetery in Orleans. He was predeceased by his paternal great grandmother Sheila McFarland on Dec. 26, 2006; maternal great grandfather Roger Charlette in 1964; maternal great grandfather Clinton Rowe in 1991 and his wife Alice Rowe in 1999. , 53, of Wheelock, died unexpectedly Wednesday July 9, 2008 at her home. She was born Feb. 11, 1955, in Newport, the daughter of Alton and Virginia (Musgrove) Gray. In 1973 she graduated from Lyndon Institute. Debbie worked as a private housekeeper for more than 25 years. She enjoyed refinishing furniture and restoring older homes, as well as attending auctions. She loved riding her horses and attending horse shows and horse pulling events. She was a former 4-H leader in Wheelock. Survivors include her daughter, Stephanie DeCesare and partner Karen DeCesare of Orleans, (P.O. Box 19, Sheffield, VT 05866); her granddaughter, Maya DeCesare; her sister, Sherry Norcross and husband Gary of Wheelock; nieces, nephews, and several close friends and clients. She was predeceased by her parents; her 24-year-old son, Jacob A. McDowell, on Jan. 27, 2007; and her brother and his wife, Michael and Dianne Gray. The tragic loss of Debbie's son Jake, caused her immense pain and heartache. Her need to be with his spirit was much greater than her need to remain on this earth. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her. But we know her heart is now at peace as she rests with her son. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 11, at 7 p.m., at the Guibord Funeral Home with the Rev. Susan Mackay officiating.
