, age 85, passed away on Sunday, April 13, at the Lafayette Center in Franconia, N.H. Virginia was born on Nov. 27, 1922, a daughter to Raymond and Ruby (Emery) Lucas, in Littleton, N.H. She attended Apthorp School. Virginia was a lifelong resident of Littleton and was employed by Norton Pike for several years. She loved doing crossword puzzles and was an avid Red Sox fan. Surviving family members include her husband, John T. Henderson of Littleton; three daughters, Sandra Szanto of Concord, N.H., Brenda Pelletier of Littleton, Noreen DeForge of Belmont, N.H.; three sisters, Vivian Stoddard of Littleton, Lillian Young of Littleton, and Dorothy Drapeau of Bethlehem, N.H.; six grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, at 1 p.m., at the Pillsbury Funeral Home located at 101 Union St., Littleton, with Rev. Timothy Cronan officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery.

, 60, of 83 Maple Street, died Saturday, April 12, 2008, at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center. He was born in St. Johnsbury, on April 24, 1947, the son of Glen W. and Shirley K. (McAneaney) Remick. He attended St. Johnsbury Academy and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1965. Also, he attended Greenfield Community College. Gary was a machinist for Kennametal (GTD) since 1977. He served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam and attained the rank of specialist 5th class. Gary was a life member of the Sherburne Falls VFW. He loved motorcycle riding and enjoyed pool, darts, playing cards and golfing. Besides his father of Greenfield, he leaves his wife of 37 years, the former Dale S. Kabaniec; four sons, Lincoln S. and his wife Jennifer of Ocala, Fla., Luke K. of Greenfield, Levi J. and his fiancée Lucinda of Cambridge, and Logan T. and his wife Amy of Millers Falls; two brothers, Glenn Remick and his wife Gloria of Foristell, Mo., and Erik Remick and his wife Lisa of Hau'ula, Hawaii; a sister, Glennise Remick and her partner Donna Northrup of Greenfield; two grandchildren, Teagan and Emma Remick; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Gayle Remick, in 1994. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield, Mass. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Friday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. , 80, died April 13, 2008, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, N.H. She was born in Park View (Los Ohos) , Rio Arriba County, N.M. July 27, 1927, a daughter of Joseph and Cleotilda (Quintana) Martinez. Following graduation from Tia Maria High School in New Mexico, she completed nurses training in Denver, Colo. For 17 years she lived in East Hartford and Granby, Conn., before moving to Woodsville, N.H., with her son Bruce in 1971. For many years Mary was a Licensed Practical Nurse working at the Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill. Her working career also included The Travelers & Holly Hill Nursing Home in Conn., and Burndy's and Landie Meat Packing in Woodsville. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Woodsville. Survivors include four sons Richard Levasseur of Worcester, Mass.; Wayne Levasseur and wife, Susan, of South Windsor, Conn.; Corey Levasseur and wife, Maggie, of Andover, Conn.; and Bruce Levasseur of Springfield, Mass.; five grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Joseph, Katherine, and William; and a brother, Ross Martinez, of Clearfield, Utah. She was predeceased by a sister Beatrice Burd and two brothers Philip Martinez of New Mexico and Mel Martinez of Utah. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be on Friday, April 18, at 1 p.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 15 Pine Street, Woodsville, N.H., with Father Daniel J. Sinibaldi officiating. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Woodsville, will be at a later date.

, 86, of Albany, died peacefully on April 15, 2008, in Newport. He was born Feb. 3, 1922, in St. Johnsbury, a son of Adolphus and Virginia (Gonyaw) Mason. On April 21, 1941, he married Dorothy Laverdiere who predeceased him on April 3, 2008. His love was working the family farm, sugaring, gardening and spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, Donald Mason and his wife Guyla of Woodbury, Gary Mason and his wife (Valvet) of Albany, Priscilla Mason of Hardwick, Paulette Webster and her husband Mark of Irasburg, Roger Mason and his friend Bonnie McGregor of Albany and Randy Mason and his wife Carole of Albany. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a brother Mayland Mason of Newport. He was predeceased by the following brothers and sisters: Ira Mason, Lawrence Mason, Harley Mason, Nellie Buzzell, Mildred Moutain, and Elizabeth Peters. A graveside service will be held in the Spring in Irasburg Cemetery. , 74, of Causeway Street, in Lancaster, N.H., died Wednesday morning April 16, 2008, at Weeks Medical Center after a long illness. Desaindes was born in St. Hermenegide, Quebec, on June 3, 1933, the daughter of Arthur and Adele (Dubie) Charest. She was a long time resident of Lancaster, moving here in 1959. For many years she worked as a housekeeper and cleaner for several Lancaster families and businesses. Her favorite hobbies were knitting and crocheting and she made many items that she sold or gave to family and friends. Family members include two sons, Maurice Desaindes of Northumberland, Denis Desaindes of New Mexico; a daughter Louise Brown of S. Burlington, Vt.; two sisters, Normane Desaindes and Noella Charest both of Coaticook, Quebec; and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Dorila E. Desaindes in 1997 and a son Norman Desaindes in 2007. Visiting hours will be held Friday, April 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 11 at All Saints Church, Lancaster. Rev. Raymond Ball, pastor will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Lancaster.

She was born in Hardwick Vermont on Aug. 28, 1922, the daughter of Henri Brochu and Lucia (Brochu) Brochu. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Fernando Noel, and was blessed with a family of 14 children. She was a loving mother and felt so blessed to have wonderful children, grandchildren and great-grand children. She is survived by 13 children: Philip Noel and wife Lucille of Ocala, Fla., Sr. Annette Noel of Montreal, Quebec; Lorraine Lamontagne and husband Paul of Colchester; Fernando Noel Jr. and wife Grazyna of Auburn, Mass.; Jean Paul Noel and wife Sharon of Lyndonville; Maurice Noel and wife Sharon of Lyndonville; Pauline Prim and husband Donald of Williston, Vt.; Robert Noel and wife Barbara of Cape May Courthouse, N.J.; Leonard Noel and wife Barbara of Loudonville, N.Y.; Bernadette Mullally and husband Michael of Colchester; Denis Noel and wife Nancy of North Bennington; Diane McLaren and husband Robert of Essex Junction; Monica Lewis and husband Thomas of North Reading, Mass.; and was predeceased by a daughter Denise in 1960. She was the proud grandmother of 34 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by one sister, Theresa Chase and husband Walter Chase of Hooksett, N.H.; three brothers, Thomas Brochu of El Paso, Texas, Francis Brochu and Gerard Brochu of Concord, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews. Marie Rose was a loving housewife and for many years child care in her own home was one of her great joys. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, April 21 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church. Public visiting hours will be held prior to the Mass at the Sayles Funeral Home on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30. She was born one of 10 children and enjoyed her family. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed the ocean and especially lighthouses. When she was young, she enjoyed music and played both the trumpet and the piano. She also enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed the "occasional" prank. She and her husband made their home in Franconia and later she moved to Connecticut. Eventually she made her home in Littleton, N.H. She is survived by her brothers, David Choate and his wife, Nellie of Monroe, N.H., Richard Choate and his wife, Ann of Lisbon, N.H., Carroll Choate and his wife, Bessie of Zephyr Hills, Fla., and one sister Doris Blodgett of Littleton, N.H.; her children, David Shufelt and his wife Priscilla of Groveton, N.H., Helen Derosia and her husband, Harold of Lisbon, N.H., Edward Shufelt and his wife, Marilyn of Lunenburg, Vt., and Harry and his wife, Betty of Odenton, Md.; 14 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, eight great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Clifton Choate, Erwin Choate, Frank Choate, Emerson Choate and one sister, Carolyn Stillings. , 64, of Barnet, died Friday, April 11, 2008, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury. Dan was born to Patrick and Esther (Connolly) Hurley on July 4, 1943 in Fall River, Mass. During his early life, he attended the Boston Museum of Fine Arts Museum School and the Art Students' League of New York. He was a reporter for The New Bedford Times and The Cape Cod Times, and Editor-In-Chief of the Provincetown Advocate. He was an influential force in Provincetown politics, a dynamic member of the Democratic Town Committee, and founder, with his good friend, Miriam Goodman, of a successful food co-op for low income consumers. He was a community organizer and fund raiser for the Co-op and town Art Association. He published a reissue of a book about Provincetown history. He was a wonderful chef and co-owned a small restaurant. In 1976, shortly after he moved to Barnet, he founded, edited and published the New England Farmer monthly with partners Francis Carlet and Thomas Gilson. Fifteen years later, he and his partners published Turf - a national landscaping magazine. Prior to his death, he was working to create a "green" ecologically sound community for older adults. Dan was a fine artist and writer, and a skilled sailor who captained boats off the Maine and east coasts, and through the Caribbean. He was loved for his intelligence, warmth and decency by everyone who knew him. Dan is survived by Yale Gould, his partner of 35 years. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Pat and Brian.

of Belleview, Fla., passed away on April 9, 2008, at Lakeland Hospital in Lakeland, Fla. Marty was born on Oct. 21, 1944, the daughter of Martin and Kay Goodwin of Lyndonville, Vt. Marty attended Lyndonville schools and married Albert Metevier on May 19, 1962. Marty leaves behind her loving husband Albert and their three children, Alby, Jamie and wife Hope, Amy Metevier Rock, and nine grandchildren, all of Florida. Marty also leaves behind a brother, Michael Goodwin and wife Fran, two sisters-in-law, Barbara Leonard and Margaret Williamson from Lyndonville, and several nieces and nephews. Marty enjoyed going to yard sales, playing bingo, shopping, the computer, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. A funeral will be held April 19 at the Grace Baptist Church in Belleview, Fla. A graveside service will be in Lyndonville at a later date.

She lived most of her life in this area and held various positions for the Littleton Stamp & Coin Company for 35 years. She was a member of the All Saints Episcopal Church. She loved gardening, bird watching, and all animals. She was very much a "social butterfly." She loved her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Charles. She is survived by her son David Manning, Saranac Lake, N.Y.; three daughters, Colleen Owen, Concord, Mass., Margery Gordon, Brighton, Mass., Carol Morse, Gilman, Vt.; nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. age 80, formerly of Pinewood Trail, died Wednesday, April 16, at the Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born in Stowe, Vt., the son of the late Alma and Corona (Joyal) Sicard. After school, Paul went to work on the family farm in Danville, Vt., then for Boston & Maine Railroad, working in the blacksmith shop. He worked at the New Hampshire State hospital, firing boilers, and finished his working career with AT&T as a service technician. Paul was a United States Army Veteran of over 20 years, including 20 years in the National Guard. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, American Legion Post 21, The National Rifle Association, and founding member of the Pioneer Sportsman Club in Dunbarton. He was on the national pistol team, and a marksman, completing the advanced pistol marksmanship course. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews, cousins, and a good friend Fred Osgood of Loudon, N.H. He was predeceased by three sisters, Rita Voyer, Cecile Boisvert, Irene Dupis; and two brothers, Robert and Paul Sicard. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main St. Concord, N.H.. , 70, of North Port, Fla., died unexpectedly April 14, 2008, at his residence. Born in St. Johnsbury, on Oct. 29, 1937, he was the son of George and Dulcina (Daniels) Bouffard. He grew up in St. Johnsbury and later lived in New Hampshire at Nashua, Manchester and Bedford before moving to Florida. He worked at Consolidated Foods, Improve Machinery and Lowell Shoe Company for many years. Bouffard was a member of the Knights of Columbus in St. Johnsbury, and the Elks Club and League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood in Manchester, N.H. The family includes his wife of 39 years, Claudette (Thibault) Bouffard of North Port; a daughter, Michelle McKenna and her husband, Joseph, of North Port; one uncle and cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Anita Bouffard, George Bouffard Jr., Louis Bouffard and Jeannette Young. Bouffard will be remembered for his great love of family, his quick wit, the love for his pet cat Noonie, his pride of his French heritage and the love of his country. , 92, of Scott Highway in Groton, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, April 18, 2008. He was born in Barre, on Feb. 22, 1916, a son of Walter and Ann (Birnie) Main. He graduated from Groton High School Class of 1933. For 37 years he was a rural mail carrier in Groton and South Ryegate. He was a 69-year member of the Groton United Methodist Church, where he had also served as a trustee. He was a member of the Groton Historical Society, a member for over 60 years of the Pulaski Lodge # 58 F&AM of Wells River where he is a Past Master and Warden, and a member of the St. Andrew's Society in Barre. He was a proud first generation Scot. Spicer enjoyed traveling, taking multiple trips to Arizona, Europe and a cruise in the Caribbean. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger days, as well as remodeling their home. He loved playing golf. He was married to Dorothy Pierce on May 7, 1938. Survivors include his wife of 69 years Dorothy of Groton; two daughters, Ann Winter and husband Owen of Barre, and Susan Page and husband Gordon of Cottonwood, Ariz.; a son Jon P. Main of Phoenix, Ariz; three grandchildren, Jon Winter, Melissa Mauro, and Steven Page; and five great grandchildren, Dustyn, Logan, and Kaylin Thomas, Taylor Winter, and Christian Page. He was predeceased by his siblings Mary Ford, Bernice MacKay, James, Stanley, and Charles Main. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service at the Groton United Methodist Church will be held Saturday, April 26, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Candace Ricker officiating. Burial will be at a later date. She is the mother of Jade, Lucas, and Imogyn Cote of St. Johnsbury; she also leaves behind the father of her children and very special friend, Billy Cote of St. Johnsbury. Jamie is the sister of Emily Lussier and husband Larry of Wheelock, April Garand and fiancé Bobby Sholan of St. Johnsbury, Joy Granger, Jack (JC) Granger III, and Joseph Granger all of Sheffield, and stepfather Jack Granger Jr. of Florida. She is the granddaughter of Ann Moulton of Maine, Robert Broome of Sheffield, Romeo Garand and Polly Hawkins of St. Johnsbury, Bruce and Bunny Bickford of Lyndonville, Phil and Patty Degreenia of Sheffield. She is an aunt to Tehya, Ethan, and Jaykob Lussier of Wheelock, Lillionna Sholan of St. Johnsbury. Two of Jamie's special aunts and uncle Leighann Moulton of Maine, Sharmen Simoneau of East Haven. Jamie also has many other aunt, uncles, cousins, friends and family. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, American Legion Post 21, The National Rifle Association, and founding member of the Pioneer Sportsman Club in Dunbarton. He was on the national pistol team, and a marksman, completing the advanced pistol marksmanship course. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and a good friend Fred Osgood of Loudon. He was predeceased by three sisters: Rita Voyer, Cecile Boisvert, Irene Dupis; two brothers: Robert and Paul Sicard. Visiting hours were held on Sunday. Funeral Services will be held on today, April 21, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main St., Concord, N.H. Burial will be held at a later date in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in St. Johnsbury, Vt. , 92, of Pike, N.H., formerly of 124 Cutting Hill, died at the Grafton County Nursing Home, North Haverhill, on Saturday, April 19, 2008. She was born on Oct. 19, 1915, in Piermont, the daughter of Fay and Gladys (Chesley) Emery. She graduated from Orford High School in 1935. In 1937 she married Amos F. Pierson. They lived in Orford for a few years but most of their married life was spent in Haverhill where together they were very prominent and successful dairy farmers for over 60 years. In her life, Bernice was a member of the Haverhill Congregational Church where she served as a Deaconess and as a member of the Haverhill Womens Fellowship. She was a member of the Haverhill Historical Society, and a contributing supporter and sponsor of the Old Goshen Church. She and her husband retired in the mid 1980s and built a new home in Pike where they lived for over 20 years. During their retirement years, they enjoyed many wonderful trips together throughout the U.S. and Canada, traveling with her sister, Velma Holden, of Haverhill, N.H., and Cecil Bean. She enjoyed gardening, music, making floral arrangements, cooking, collecting pictures of covered bridges and churches, watching the Rev. Billy Graham crusades, attending and cooking for church suppers and other fund raising activities, going to auctions, reading poetry, attending band concerts and picnics, attending the Pierson family reunions each year, as well as the Orford High School Alumni Reunions. She died peacefully with her niece, Susan Holden, of Haverhill, by her side who had watched over and cared for her during the last six years. Of late, she has been honored in a local newspaper, The Bridge Weekly Sho-Case, over a series of weeks with published articles for the first time about her life and remembrances as a child (along with those of her beloved sister, Velma) taken from a book authored by her niece, Susan, entitled "A Life Like No Other" that was written in 2002 as a gift to each of them describing their growing up during an era in time that was as rich in natural history as it was in human history. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Amos, on March 18, 2000; her parents Fay and Gladys (Chesley) Emery; two sisters, Christie Elizabeth Emery of Piermont and Erma Emery Kurtz from California. She is survived by two sisters, Velma E. Holden of Haverhill and Marjorie Manning of North Haverhill, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters- and brothers-in-law, and great-nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Thursday, April 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch St., Woodsville, N.H. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 25, at 3 p.m. at the Haverhill Congregational Church in Haverhill, N.H. Internment will take place at the South lawn Cemetery in Piermont following the service.

, 90, of Irasburg, died peacefully April 18, 2008, at his nieces's home in Brownington. He was born May 15, 1917, in Coventry a son of Clinton and Helen (Priest) Orr. He served in the Vermont National Guard from 1936 to 1939 in the 172nd Infantry, 3rd Battalion. On July 14, 1947, he became a member of the Masonic Union Lodge #16 in Troy, Vt. He did various jobs in his lifetime but enjoyed farming the most. He also worked at Ethan Allen in Orleans where he retired after 25 years. He had many hobbies which included hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and his favorite, bowling. For 40 years he bowled on a variety of leagues and most recently he bowled Monday night league for the Alley Cats and on Wednesday with the Senior Citizen League. On Dec. 28, 1974, he married Marion Joslyn who predeceased him on Aug. 25, 2001. He is survived by a son Richard Orr and his wife Myrna and Family of Evansville, a very special niece Brigitte Moulton and her husband Larry of Brownington, and by his special friends Larry and Alfred Pepin. He is also survived by his sister Olga "Pauline" Orr of Grafton, Mass.; and a special little man "Pee-Wah," by his sister-in-law Janet Orr of Newport and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter Helen Beatrice Josey Orr, by brothers Kenneth, Gordon, Richard, Robert, Clifton and by two sisters: Gladys and Beatrice. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road, Newport where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008, with the Rev. Laurence Wall officiating. Interment in Irasburg Cemetery. Members of Masonic Union Lodge #16 will conduct a Masonic service on Tuesday, April 22, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. of Lyndonville passed away at home Saturday, April 19, 2008. He was 77. Born in Lyndon Center Nov. 16, 1930, he was the son of Clayton and Adeline (Frizzell) Hubbard and graduated from Lyndon Institute in 1948. He was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Dorene (Barnett) Hubbard, on July 24, 1998. Allen retired as an industrial engineer from Vermont Tap and Die after 35 years of service. He served during the Korea Conflict and in the Vermont National Guard for a total of 26 years, attaining the rank of captain. He belonged to the Lyndonville First Congregational Church, both the American Legion Post #30 and VFW Post #10038 in Lyndonville, and the Moose Lodge #1779 of St. Johnsbury. He is survived by his loving companion Edna Simons of St. Johnsbury, his son Morris "Buzz" Hubbard of Lyndon, his daughter Janice Hubbard and her companion Kurt Wenz of Hartland, Vt.; two grandchildren Troy Hubbard and Allie Hubbard; Allen's twin sister Arlene Phipps of Ottawa, Ontario; his brother Harley Hubbard of Lyndon; nieces, nephews, and many close friends. He was predeceased by three sisters: Mary Parker, Kathleen Emmons, and Francese Clough. Memorial services will be held this Wednesday, April 23, at 3 p.m. at the Lyndonville First Congregational Church with the pastor, the Rev. Sidney Lambert officiating.
