, 66, died peacefully June 27, 2007, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Zisselsberger was born July 10, 1940, in Velbert, Germany, a daughter of Ernst and Else (Grunwald) Boelling. She moved to the United States in 1952 with her family to New York City. She married Ernie Zisselsberger on September 27, 1958, in Brooklyn, New York. She moved to the area with her family in 1972. She was a member of the Orleans County Sheriff's Department, where she was a deputy, and she also worked in the jail until it closed. She was a dispatcher for the Newport City Police Department until she became mayor of Newport. She served as mayor of the city of Newport for six years from 1993 to 1999 and she was also a member of the city council until her death. During the many years in the area she worked at North Country Union High School in Newport as a substitute teacher and high school bus aid. She had a generous heart and she was always willing to help anyone in need. She took great pride in her son being a member of the Vermont Army National Guard and she volunteered where she could in the family support system. She and her unforgettable stories will always be missed. She is survived by her husband of 48 years Ernie Zisselsberger of Newport, three sons: Gary Zisselsberger and his wife Karin of Bethel, Ronald Zisselsberger and his wife Suezanne of Albany, and James Zisselsberger and his wife Mary Ellen of Champlain, New York, and by her grandchildren, Lucy, Tracy and Casey Zisselsberger and Robert Cray. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday July 7 at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Memorial Chapel, 37 Lake Road, Newport. Roderick Melvin Norton

, 83, of Newport died peacefully June 28, 2007, in Newport with his family at his side. Mr. Norton was born June 1, 1924, in Newport, a son of Charles and Goldie (Richardson) Norton. After his graduation from Newport High School, he entered the United States Army. He served his country during World War II and the Korean War. After the wars he made a career in the Army and retired as a master sergeant after more than 20 years of active service. He was a member of American Legion Post 21 of Newport and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 798 of Newport. He is survived by a sister, Edith Johnstone, and her husband, Dr. Robert Johnstone, of Cincinnati, Ohio; and by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews. He was predeceased by a twin brother, Robert Martin Norton; and by a sister, Peggy Flannery. Funeral services were held June 30 with the Reverend John Genco officiating. Interment followed in Pine Grove Cemetery with full military honors. , 87, of Dumont, New Jersey, formerly of Newport, died June 4, 2007, at Englewood Hospital in Englewood, New Jersey. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Dumont, New Jersey. She made medical bandages at the church for the Red Cross during World War II. Surviving are her husband, Ralph; her son Ralph; her brothers Roland Lanoue and his wife, Gilbert, and RovilleLanoue and his wife, Irene, of Orleans; and her sister GesileRunwalt of Pennsylvania. A funeral service was held June 8 at Riewerts Memorial Home in Bergenfield, New Jersey, followed by interment at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City, New Jersey.

, 76, died on July 1, 2007, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Mrs. Urie was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts, to the late James and Florence Cushman Dean. Helping people was her passion in life. Whether through family events or in offices or institutions where she worked in supporting roles, people came to her for wise counsel on a daily basis. She worked for many years in the counseling center at St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, North Carolina. She worked at Columbia Theological Seminary for 17 years, a majority of the time there as registrar and assistant to the dean. She believed that everyone was one of God's special creations and made it a point to know the names, not only of each student, but also of all staff members, from the maintenance workers to the president of the institution. She retired in 1995 and, without interruption, began a similar type of ministry at St. Andrews Presbyterian College Extension at Sandhills Community College. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting baby blankets and caps for the "preemies" at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert Urie; her sons: Stephen Urie and his wife, Laura Beth, of Laurinburg, North Carolina, and Daniel Urie and his wife, Wendy, of Augusta, Georgia; her daughters: Linda Barnett and her husband, Michael, of Hickory, North Carolina, Carol Pate and her husband, Ben, of Pinehurst, North Carolina, and Nancy Thrasher and her husband, Terry, of Savannah, Georgia; her brother, James C. Dean, of St. Albans, Vermont; her sister, Ruth Jenne, of Attleboro, Massachusetts; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Dean. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, July 3, at West End Presbyterian Church in West End, North Carolina, with Dr. Larry Lyon officiating. Hazel Patterson

of Morrison, Colorado, died on August 20, 2006. Mrs. Patterson was born August 25, 1913, in North Andover, Massachusetts. She married Charles Lester Patterson from Craftsbury on November 20, 1937. She was a person who was loved by all who knew her. She found great comfort in her volunteer work with the blind. Mrs. Patterson's faith in the Lord was her guiding light and strength in all her journeys. She is survived by her son, Gary Patterson, of Blackdiamond, Washington, and his two daughters, Tracie and Sharon; and her daughter, BevAhl, of Bailey, Colorado. Per Mrs. Patterson's wishes, her cremated remains have been returned to Craftsbury to be buried with her late husband, Lester, in the Craftsbury Village Cemetery. May she rest in peace in the beautiful setting that she so loved.
Phyllis Jean Willey Hurst

, 82, a lifelong resident of Greensboro, died Monday, July 2, 2007, at the Greensboro Nursing Home. Mrs. Hurst was born March 19, 1925, in Greensboro, upstairs from The Willey's Store, her family's business. Her parents were the late Robert A. and Gertrude M. (Smith) Willey. She graduated from Greensboro High School in 1943, and the University of New Hampshire in 1947. On August 21, 1948, she married Ernest M. Hurst in Greensboro. Except for a few years when she was a music teacher in York, Maine, and in Walden, Vermont, schools, Mrs. Hurst worked her whole life in the family store. As a teenager, she enjoyed mingling with friends at the store's soda fountain. After college, when she returned to Greensboro with Ernie, she also taught piano and organ lessons and cared for her growing family. In 1970, she and Ernie Hurst became the third generation to own and operate Willey's. Mrs. Hurst was the bookkeeper, clothing and dry goods manager, and a friendly face seated at the top of the stairs. Mrs. Hurst's other interests were music, reading, local history and genealogy. In her youth she played the organ at the Greensboro United Church of Christ. As her family grew, she entertained children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at her piano. She established an extensive collection of books, many relating to Vermont and local history. She was an expert on Greensboro history, chronicling family and local events in numerous scrapbooks. She enjoyed traveling around the state in search of genealogical tidbits. Mrs. Hurst was a member of the Greensboro United Church of Christ, Greensboro Women's Union, Greensboro Association, several historical societies (Greensboro, Orleans County, and Vermont), the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum and the Vermont Grocer's Association. Survivors include two sons: Robert Hurst and his wife, Dr. Brenda Eastman of Ashville, New York, and Thomas Hurst and his wife, Merrill, of Greensboro; a daughter: Lisa Coco and her husband Steven, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; eight grandchildren: Robert W. Hurst of Rutland, Aaron Hurst of Londonderry, Julie Hurst and her fiancé, Jason Whitcomb, of West Woodbury, Emily Hurst of Ithaca, New York, Whitney Hurst of Greensboro, David Coco of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Rachel Coco and her husband Alan Justice, of Washington, D.C., and Shivani Eastman Seguin of Asheville, New York; two great-granddaughters: Nakaya and Bionca Samuel, both of Waitsfield; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Robert Knight of West Swanzey, New Hampshire; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Smith Willey in 1943. A celebration of her life was held on Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at the Greensboro United Church of Christ. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Lincoln-Noyes Cemetery in Greensboro. , 98, of Newport died peacefully on July 6, 2007, in Newport. She was born February 5, 1909, in Coventry, a daughter of Herbert and Mary (Dermid) Miner. On August 15, 1932, she married A. Stanley Hilliker, who predeceased her in 1975. Mrs. Hilliker graduated from Lyndon State College and taught at Coventry Village School and Barton Graded School. She also taught remedial reading at Hillside Elementary School in Newport. She held memberships with the United Church of Newport, the Retired Teachers Association, Wide Awake Rebecca Lodge, Coventry Grange, Lakeside Chapter #27 Order of the Eastern Star, American LegionAuxillary and the Women's Society of the United Church. She is survived by her son, Richard Hilliker, and his wife, Chris, of Newport; and by the following grandchildren: Brian Hilliker, Scott Hilliker and his wife, Peggy, Tammy Hilliker and her friend, Jed Bingham, Shelley Navari and her husband, Brent; by the following great grandchildren: Samantha and Tiffany Hilliker, Victoria Rae Hilliker, Justin Morgan, Dakota Hilliker and Hunter Navari; and by several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Alice and Catherine Hilliker. She was predeceased by a daughter, Sheryl Hilliker, in 1960, by her grandson, Richard Michael Hilliker, in 2004, and by a sister, Mildred Hancock, and her husband, Roy, by a sister-in-law and several brothers-in-law. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 13, at the Curtis-Britch Converse-Rushford Memorial Chapel, on Lake Road in Newport with the Reverend Martha Peck officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the hour of the funeral on Friday. , 85, of Newport died peacefully July 7, 2007, in Newport. She was born July 22, 1921, in Dows, Iowa. She married Joseph Ferguson, who predeceased her. She is survived by two sons: Rodney Ferguson and his wife, Donna, of Lowell, and Dennis Ferguson and his wife, Monica, of Maysville, Georgia. She is also survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, at the home of her son at 2507 Route 100 in Lowell with the Reverend John Genco officiating. Interment will take place in the National Veterans Cemetery, St. Petersburg, Florida.

, a beloved mother, grandmother and nurse, died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at her home in Parsippany, New Jersey, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Dimick was born on February 11, 1927, in East Craftsbury, the daughter of Kenneth P. Lane and Jessie Harper Lane. She was a graduate of Craftsbury Academy in the class of 1944. In 1946 Mrs. Dimick graduated from the Mary Hitchcock Nursing School in Laconia, New Hampshire. She married Nelson L. Dimick, and they lived in Framingham, Massachusetts, before moving to Parsippany in 1961. She was a registered nurse at Green Hill Memorial Center for Women in West Orange, New Jersey, for more than ten years before retiring as head nurse in 1994. Prior to that she worked at Riverside Hospital in Boonton, New Jersey, and then the Troy Hills Center in Parsippany for four years. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, and the Senior Citizens Club in Boonton. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Nelson L. Dimick, on July 27, 2000. She is survived by her children: Scott and his wife, Sheryl, of Kunkletown, Pennsylvania, Eric and his wife, Linda, of Budd Lake, New Jersey, and Donna Barnish of Oak Ridge, New Jersey; by 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; by her cousins: Charles B. Smith Jr. of Hardwick, Natalie B. Drew of Wallingford, Cedric L. Smith of South Barre, Winston and Woodrow Harper of Barton, Dr. Paul M. Heidger of Iowa City, Iowa, Roy B.
