, 58, of Russellville, Arizona, died on Monday, December 25, 2006, at his home surrounded by family and friends. A son of Richard and Marion (Haseltine) Taylor, Mr. Taylor was born October 1, 1948, in Exeter, New Hampshire. He retired to Russellville from New England one year before his death to take advantage of the Natural State and what it had to offer. He lived with his wife of 19 years and his family of three dogs, which he lovingly referred to as his "furkids." He had 16 years of service with the Army National Guard. Three years were spent with the 712th Maintenance Company of Windsor. Thirteen years were spent with the Vermont National Guard with the 172nd Battalion in Newport and St. Albans and the 50th Maintenance Battalion of Winooski and Jericho. He was employed full-time as a Vermont Army National Guard technician in Winooski and Jericho. He received his Army honorable discharge on April 1, 1983. He was an active member of the South Hero Fire Department and spent seven years as an active member of the Cambridge Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Taylor, of Russellville; by his parents, Richard and Marion Taylor, of Morgan; by one brother, Brian Taylor, and his wife, Kathy, of Morgan; by one aunt, Grace Curtis, of Morgan; by his "furbabies": Barney, Betty, and Bam-Bam; and by many other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held for Mr. Taylor on Saturday, June 16, at 2 p.m. at the Taylor residence, 1210 Toad Pond Road, Morgan, Vermont 05853. Call (802) 895-4484 for directions.

, 41, of Coventry sadly lost his battle with cancer and died on May 12, 2007, in Newport. Mr. MacLean was born July 21, 1965, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, a son of Doris (Gagnon) MacLean and the late Grant T. Maclean Sr. He was employed by Mike Cyr as a roofer and home repairman. He loved being outdoors in nature, and he especially loved being with his children. He was always willing to give a helping hand to friends and relatives. He was willing to give his shirt off his back, even in a blizzard, according to his niece Gabrielle, who always referred to him as "Unk." He enjoyed tinkering on cars. He leaves behind his beautiful children, twins Kristi Ann Baraw and Brandon Baraw of Newport Center; the love of his life, mother of his children, and supportive partner during his illness, Doreen Baraw; his mother, Doris MacLean, of Newport; his sisters Kimberly Green and her husband, Shawn, of Derby and Tricia Lynne MacLean of Coventry; his brothers Michael Devlin of Salem, New Hampshire, and Grant Devlin of South Hero; and his nieces and nephews: Julia Bolton and her fiancé, Dana Forbes, and their son Darion, Gabrielle Bolton and her partner, Derrick Sanville, and Selena, Christopher, and Kaitlyn Green. He was predeceased by his father, Grant MacLean Sr., in May 2005. , 62, of Newport Center died suddenly on May 18, 2007. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 29 years, Lorna (Buttrick) Johnson. He was the son of Wallace and Helen Johnson. He grew up in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, and graduated from Missouri Valley College. He was a Navy veteran. He discovered the Northeast Kingdom and made it his home. He was the first recreation director for the city of Newport, a founding partner and manager of the former Landing Restaurant, and co-owner and operator Memphremagog Meats. He was a U.S. Customs officer. At the time of his death, he was the food and beverage manager for Jay Peak Ski and Summer Resort. He was a longtime member of the National Ski Patrol at Jay Peak. He was a former member of the Newport City Fire Department and Elks Club. He received the Elk of the Year Award. He was a member of the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Conservation Group, American Legion Post 21, and the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce. He laid the foundation for the Newport Minor Hockey League, and he mentored and coached numerous young athletes in the community. He had a passion for the four seasons that Vermont has to offer. He fished in the summer, hunted in the fall, skied in the winter, and sugared in the spring. He enjoyed family expeditions to the northern boundaries of Canada. Thanksgivings spent at deer camp with his family and friends were special times for him. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Cheryl Redman and her husband, Brenan, of Hampstead, Maryland; by two sons, Kurtis Johnson of Durham, New Hampshire, and Bruce Johnson of Newport Center; by a granddaughter, Kylie Redman; by one brother, Robert Johnson, and his wife, Francine, of Wyckoff, New Jersey; and by several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, at the Curtis-Britch Converse-Rushford Funeral Home on Darling Hill Road in Newport where a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, with the Reverend Richard Whitehill officiating. , 39, of Newport died peacefully at the home of his parents, Leo and Evelyn Geoffrey, on May 13, 2007. Mr. Geoffrey was born July 11, 1967, in Newport, a beloved son of Leo and Evelyn (Carson) Geoffrey. He spent many hours, days, and weeks being involved, not only as a participant but an active fund-raiser and helper, to the Vermont Special Olympics and its local chapter. He was an extremely social man who made friends easily, and he was always ready to give a helping hand. During high school and for many years afterward he was always helping with most of the athletic programs at North Country Union High School. He is survived by his parents, Leo and Evelyn Geoffrey, of Newport; by two brothers, Neil Geoffrey of Derby and Cory Geoffrey of Pennsylvania; by his nieces Britney and Lindsay Geoffrey and their mother, Tammy Simoneau; by his special friend, Donna Corkins; and by several aunts, uncles, and cousins. , 42, died Monday, May 14, 2007, at her home in Craftsbury in the loving care of her family. Mrs. Dunbar was born in West Islip, New York, August 1, 1964, a daughter of Walter and Jeanne (Remsen) Williams. She was a 1982 graduate of Lindenhurst High in Lindenhurst, New York. She married Keith Dunbar of Craftsbury in May 1992. They made their home in Colchester, moving to Craftbury in 1994. She worked as a paralegal for Burak Anderson & Melloni in Burlington for several years until her disability. She was active in the Craftsbury Booster Club, raising funds for the school and helping put on many fund-raising dinners. She enjoyed her flowers and loved to fish. She loved being with her family, especially her two daughters, Elaine and Sarah. She leaves her husband, Keith; daughters Elaine Jeanne and Sarah Evelyn Dunbar of Craftsbury; her father, Walter Williams, of Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania; a brother, Robert Williams, and his wife, Karen, of Centereach, New York; four sisters: Karen Paquette and her husband, Maurice, of Burlington, Nancy Hespeler and her husband, Donald, of Homosassa, Florida, Christine Hotelling and her husband, Michael, of Homosassa, and Michelle "Micki " Martin and her husband, Randy, of Craftsbury; her father- and mother-in-law, Wayne and Elaine Dunbar, of Craftsbury; and nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Mr. McCormick was born December 28, 1951, in Newport, a son of Myron and Louise (Damon) McCormick. He worked for Real Desrochers, Incorporated, where he operated heavy equipment for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he formerly enjoyed playing on the Irasburg baseball and softball teams. He was a former member of the Elks Club and a member of the Vermont All-Terrain Vehicles Sportsmen's Association. He is survived by his daughter Jodi McCormick and her companion, Patrick Chandler, of Elizabeth, New Jersey; by his mother, Louise McCormick, ofIrasburg; by his longtime companion, LauretteRiendeau, and her children: Chantal of Jay, Paul and Robert of New Hampshire, and Marc and Amber of California; and by siblings: Malcolm McCormick and his wife, Michelle, of Barton, Ramon McCormick and his wife, Shirley, of Irasburg, David McCormick and his wife, Lisa, of Fairfax, Marilyn Houlihan and her husband, Daniel, of Bristol, Connecticut, and Sandra Sloan of Newport; by serveral nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews; and by his two special canine companions, Shadow and Queenie. , 74, of Townsend, Massachusetts, formerly of Glover and Barton and Port Richey, Florida, died Thursday, May 17, 2007, at his home after an illness. Mr. Langlois was born in Granby, Quebec, on October 14, 1932, a son of Leonard and Yvette (Gaudreau)Langlois. He resided in Vermont and wintered many years in Florida before moving to Townsend a year ago. He worked much of his career as a mason and business owner. He owned and operated Barton Masonry, and in the early 1990s, Le Pub MacIntosh in Granby. He enjoyed golfing and had played at the Barton Golf Club and in Clearwater, Florida. He is survived by a son, Erick R. Langlois, and his wife, Sherry, with whom he resided in Townsend; by a daughter, Christine Langlois, and her husband, Gary Homer, of Missouri; by a brother, Serge Langlois, of Granby; a special friend, Nancy Phillips, of Port Richey; and by four grandchildren with whom he shared great joy and love: Troy and Julia Langlois and Katelyn and Kayley Homer. He was predeceased by his brother Gilles Langlois of Granby; and by his former wife, Lucie (Racine) Langlois, who died in 1997. He was a veteran of the Korean War from 1954 to 1957. He was a groundskeeper for the Balsam Grand Resort Hotel in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. , 47, of Glover died peacefully May 25, 2007, in Glover. Mr. Carpenter was born July 9, 1959, in Newport, a son of Gardner and Madeline (Nutting) Carpenter. He loved fishing, animal stories, computers, and music. He beamed at the thought of his children and stood taller when they were around him. He was proud of his Native American heritage. Over the last couple of years he lived a better life. He bravely and honestly learned about himself. He tried and genuinely enjoyed simple pleasures like reading a good book, viewing artwork, and listening to the stories of others. He especially loved his German shepherd Nato. He let new people into his life who grew to care about and love him. He is survived by his three children: Michaela, Ethan, and Olivia; by the mother of his children, Catherine Clark; by siblings: Randy Carpenter and his wife, Dixie, of Jay, Darlene Choquette and her husband, Richard, of North Troy, Scott Carpenter and his wife, Laura, of Derby Line, Gardner Carpenter of Beattyville, Kentucky, and Marlene Messier and her husband, Leo, of Coventry; and by many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bennett was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on January 30, 1928, daughter of Clarence and Elsie (Henderson) Battle. She was a secretary for the Atomic Energy Commission. She married Robert Bennett on June 26, 1948. He predeceased her on May 11, 2001. She loved playing bridge, dancing with her husband, and sewing. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She is survived by her two daughters, Karen L. Bennett of Orleans and Joanie Austin and her husband, Larry, of Orleans; by her grandchildren: Amelia Bennett of Orleans, James Raftery of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Robert Raftery of Hartford, Connecticut, Chesley Austin of Canton, Massachusetts, Kathryn Raftery of Norfolk, Virginia, and Derek Austin of Portsmouth, New Hampshire; by two sisters, Helen Galloway of Oakland, California, and Judith Roe of Boaz, Alabama; and by several nieces and nephews. , 74, of Walpole, New Hampshire, died Thursday, May 24, 2007, at the Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, New Hampshire. Mrs. Wood was born December 11, 1932, in Bellows Falls, a daughter of Fred and Alice (Hart) Martin. She attended schools in Bellows Falls. She worked for Douglas Toy in Keene, Hubbard Farms in Walpole, and Mary Myers in Bellows Falls. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Bridge Wilson Unit 77 in Walpole. Her greatest love was spending time and taking rides with her husband and spending time with her family. She loved walking in the pasture. On October 25, 1950, in Bellows Falls, she married Herbert Wood, who survives. She is survived by a son, Ricky Wood, and his wife, Beryl, of Walpole; by three daughters: Terry Tole and her husband, Paul, and Robin Hurlburt and her husband, Dick, all of Walpole, and Wanda Boomer and her husband, Don, of Irasburg; by one son-in-law, Bill Russell, of Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire; by 11 grandchildren; by 11 great-grandchildren; and by many stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-granchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; by her daughter Karen Russell; by her sister Barbara Cyr; and by two grandsons, Mark and Martin Remick.
