He was well known for riding around all night and was even referred to as "cruiser number three" in earlier years. He made many visits to Campbell's and Hadlock's barns to feed and watch their horses, and was an overall lover of animals. When his wife, Lorena, became very ill in the early 1960's and again in the early 1990's, Frank made many trips and drove thousands of miles assuring she received the care she needed in Hanover and Boston. Frank was known for simply liking people and was never short on sarcasm either. He had pet names for many, especially his children and had a sarcastic wit and wonderful sense of humor. He left the world a better place for him having been here. He will be missed. Frank leaves two sons, Emilio "Rocky" Porfido and his wife, Ashlea Miller, and Frank Jr. and his wife, Julie Porfido, both of Littleton; four daughters, Permelia "Bunni" Lindorff of Manchester, N.H.; Carmela "Cami" and her husband, Lenny Quail of Littleton; Violet and her husband, Bill Hatch of Gorham, N.H., and Lorena "Lori" F. At her summer home in Peacham, her doors were always open, and she and her husband, Paul, took special pleasure in visits with friends and family. An interment service conducted by pastor Carol Borland will be held at the cemetery in Peacham at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 7. Alice's friends and family are all cordially invited to attend. A native of Springfield, Mass., Alice graduated from the Classical High School there. She earned a bachelor's degree in music education from the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music in 1937, and a master's degree from the University of Michigan. Trained in the teaching and supervision of choral music, she taught for three years at the Sleighton Farm School in the Delaware Valley. She was then hired to teach music in the Swarthmore public school system and later became director of the choral music program. A dynamic and compelling leader of groups of singers, she also understood the effect of choral singing on the will and heart of each individual. Her students visited her long after she ceased teaching, in gratitude for her indelible influence on them. In 1950, she married Paul W. Hoon, pastor of the First Methodist Church in Germantown, Pa. When he became a professor of pastoral theology at Union Theological Seminary in New York City, they moved to Ridgewood, N.J., where she taught vocal music in the public schools. Upon his retirement, they moved to Princeton, N.J., and subsequently to Pennswood. Until her last illness, she remained active in many areas of community life, and is especially remembered for her leadership on a concert committee that brought leading artists to Pennswood. A concert by the American Boys' Choir was given to honor Alice at Pennswood in May. In addition to her work in music, she gave generously of her time and energy to organizations that included Church Women United, Recording for the Blind, and the YWCA. She was an enthusiastic sportswoman, hiker and gardener. Predeceased by her husband and a brother, Giles Blodgett, she is survived by her brother, Alden Blodgett of Ludlow, Vt., and St. Petersburg, Fla.; two stepsons, Peter W. of Nederland, Colo., and David N. of Denver, Colo.; two grandchildren, Wendy Hoon Langen and Robin Hoon, both of Florida; and her great-granddaughter, Karlyn. She is also survived by many devoted nieces and nephews in Massachusetts and Vermont.

passed away suddenly in Parsonsfield, Maine, on June 20, 2007, at the age of 45, with his wife by his side. The eldest son of Charles and Patricia (Farman) Cushman Jr., Chuck was born Feb. 1, 1962, in St. Johnsbury, Vt. He attended schools in St. Johnsbury and Lyndon. After school he went into the U.S. Army and after his discharge he married and settled in Tacoma, Wash. Even though Chuck walked to the beat of a different drummer, he instinctively knew what was really important in life. Above all he loved his family, his wife, especially his children and adored his grandchildren. His love for his Mom, Dad, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews was unconditional. Every time he called home, he would go through the list of everyone and ask how they were, but his first words were always "how's Dad?" He asked about aunts, uncles, cousins and everyone else he happened to think of at the moment. Chuck loved Washington, Wyoming and Maine, but Bible Hill always held a special place in his heart. Roaming between both grandparents' farms and his home, at a very young age he started learning where every nook and cranny was, and how to get from point A to point B with no difficulty. He spent countless hours with his great-grandmother Mary, whom he simply adored. Chuck was in Cub Scouts and played Little League. He loved to hunt, fish, play golf and work on cars and enjoyed talking to anyone he came in contact with. Several years ago when Chuck's health started to fail, he made the decision to come back to New England. It was there that he met Melinda (Tushin) and moved to Parsonsfield, Maine, where they married and made their home. Chuck is survived by his loving and devoted wife Melinda Cushman; his two children, Andrea (Jeff) Borell, and Joshua Cushman of Tacoma, Wash.; three grandchildren Camryn, Mckenna and Jaxon Borrell; his parents, Charles and Patricia Cushman of St. Johnsbury; his brothers, Dean and his children, Rebecka, Kasey and Zeb, Bruce and his wife Anna and son Jack; a sister, Kimberly Rowell and husband Chad and their children, Caleb, Tyler and Josie; his father-in-law: Donald Tushin of Massachusetts; two brothers-in-law, Mathew Tushin and children of Saco, Maine, and Mark Tushin of California.
