Laurence G. Amadon
....show age 83, a lifelong Lyndon resident passed away peacefully Sunday, April 29, 2007 at the Pines Health and Rehab Center. Son of the late J. Gordon and Edith (Carpenter) Amadon. He was born March 3, 1924 in Lyndon Center. He was employed by Vermont Tap & Die Co. For 47 years, retiring in 1989. He was employed through the years as a bookkeeper with many of the small businesses in the area, as well as prepared taxes for many community members. He married Beverly J. Scott November 18, 1943 in Lyndon Center. He was a of the Lyndonville Congregational Church for all of his adult life, serving as deacon and auditor, and a member of various committees for many years, and church custodian for over 40 years. He enjoyed woodcarving, crafting, and outdoor activities. Larry is survived by his loving wife of nearly 64 years, Beverly Amadon of Lyndonville, four children and their spouses, Richard and Karen Amadon of Kingman, IN, Deborah and James Green of Bradford, NH, Randy and Sandy Amadon of Lyndonville, Tim and Anne Amadon of Skowhegan, ME; ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; brothers Stanley and wife Helen Amadon of Waterbury, Kenneth and wife Marion Amadon of Orleans. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 2, at 3:00 pm in the Lyndonville Congregational Church with the Rev. Sidney Lambert, officiant. Interment will be in the Lyndon Center Cemetery. Paul E. Belval
....show , age 73, a longtime Lamoille County resident passed away Friday, December 7, 2007 at the Copley Hospital in Morrisville.
Paul was born July 22, 1934 in Morrisville to Eugene and Marguerite (Boudreau) Belval. he grew up and graduated from high school in the Morrisville area. Paul served in the US Air Force during the Korean conflict. He returned to Lamoille County and raised his family his wife Clara Ann, they later divorced and remained close friends. Paul was an active member of St. Theresas Catholic Church. He enjoyed golf, and all sports either at the game or on ESPN, he also enjoyed fishing in his younger years.
Paul was a business manager at many locations throughout Lamoille County, to include Colleges, hospitality and town government. He was a kind and gentle man, he will be missed by all who knew him.
Paul is survived by his former wife and friend, Clara Ann Belval of Hyde Park; children, Ronald Belval and wife Linda of Morrisville; Lena Hyder of White River Jct.; Jolie Belval of Johnson; Laura Belval of New Zealand. Three grandchildren Jessica Barbour & husband Kurt, Katie Belval & fiancée Rob, Ann Marie Belval; five great grandchildren, Connor, Natalie, & Madisyn Barbour, Logan & Isaac Chapin.

Clifton E. "Runt" Blake
....show , a Burke Hollow resident, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at the Pines Health & Rehab. Center, surrounded by his family.
Born in Burke August 11, 1924, son of the late William and Lila (Coe) Blake. He attended St. Johnsbury Academy; He married Marjorie Deblois, February 14, 1946 in Lyndonville. .
Clifton was a Burke Selectman for many years, he enjoyed snowmobiling, golfing, and pitching horseshoes, was a member of the Country Corner Squares, Drift Skippers Snowmobile Club, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.
Clifton is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Marjorie of Burke Hollow, four children, Russell Blake of Lyndonville, Thomas Blake and wife Paula, Lynn Welch and husband Jerry all of Burke, Douglas Blake of Gallatin, TN; brothers and sisters, Bernard Blake of Lyndonville, Wilma Fournier, Marylyn Blake both of St. Johnsbury Center, William Blake, Jr. of Gansevoort, NY; 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Wendell Blake, several brothers- and sisters-in-law.
Calling hours will be at the Pearsons Funeral Home Friday, June 29, from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M., a memorial service will be Saturday 11:00 A.M. in the Meetinghouse Church in Burke Hollow with interment to follow in the Meetinghouse Cemetery.

Geraldine S. Bolton
....show age 69, a Lunenburg resident formerly of East Haven, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2007, at Fletcher Allen Health care in Burlington surrounded by her loving family.
Daughter of the late Francis and Louise (Altieri) DuBois, she was born Aug. 26, 1937, in New Haven, Conn.
Geraldine married Arthur H. Bolton. She enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, drawing, coloring, and gardening.
Geraldine in survived by her loving husband of over 40 years, Arthur H. Bolton of Lunenburg; seven children and their spouses, Edward Lawrence of Oregon, Stephen and (Dawn) Lawrence of Sutton, Vt., Sharon Bacon and companion Jim McCaffrey of Littleton, N.H., Wayne Bolton of Florida, Tammy Bell and companion Casey Marcott of Lyndonville, Vt., Arthur Jr. and Mary Bolton of Concord, Vt., Tina Smith and companion James Perry of Sutton; brother Joseph DuBois of Waterford, Vt.; and sister Rose Gee of Concord.
She was predeceased by a son, Vincent Lawrence, Dec. 16, 1978.

Ward W. Bumps
....show ; age 86, a Lyndonville resident passed away Saturday, May 26, 2007 at his home. Born February 26, 1921 in Brighton, Vermont. He is the son of the late Walter E. and Clara J. (Baker) Bumps. He lived in lower New Hampshire for about twenty years. He was a factory worker, working at many places beginning with Ralston Purina and the last several years at the East Haven Transfer Station. He married Maureen Donaldson on February 25, 1967. He loved listing too older country music, enjoyed jokes, dancing and car racing. Ward is survived by three sons, Wayne Bumps and wife Clara, David Bumps, Leonard Bumps and wife Susie, four step daughters, Sandra Davis and husband Richard, Sherry Barber and husband Dick, Linda Rivers and husband Scott, Carole Camber, several grandchildren and step grandchildren, a longtime friend Russell Lynaugh. He was predeceased by his wife Maureen and step daughter DeDe Robinson. Grace E. Butterfield
....show , 72, a Lyndonville, VT., resident passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
Born April 27, 1935 in Barton, VT., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Laura (Taylor) Blodgett.
Grace was a member of the Catholic Church, she enjoyed her home visits from the deacons, and felt blessed to have them in her home to bring her communion.
Grace was an electrical assembly worker for Burndy Corporation and Fairbanks Scales for many years. Later in life, she enjoyed volunteering with Vermont Associates, the Retired Volunteer Senior Program, Area Agency on Aging, and Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.
Grace always reminded her children to stick together because all they had in life was each other. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and even more, she enjoyed going to their school and theater events.
Grace is survived by her seven children and their spouses, Diane and Douglas Carriere of Lebanon, N.H., Linda Black, Donald Sabens, Pamela and Alan Brink all of Lyndonville, Debbie and Daniel Baldwin, Kevin and Sharon Sabens, both of St. Johnsbury, and Dwayne and Jean Pelchat of Belchertown, Mass.; 19 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Donald Sabens Sr., Wayne Boyce and Frederick Butterfield; her beloved son, Michael Sabens; and her only sister and best friend, Dorothy Bellemare.
A celebration of Grace's life will be held at the home of Alan and Pam Brink, 378 Pine Ridge Circle, Lyndonville, Saturday, Sept. 1, from 4 to 6 p.m. A private graveside service will be at a later date in Hope Cemetery.

Campbell, Robert J. (Bob)
....show ; age 90; a Lyndonville resident passed away Thursday, January 25, 2007 at his residence following a lengthy illness. The son of the late Guy & Lillian (Bassett) Campbell, he was born January 6, 1917 in Morrisville. He was a 1933 graduate of Johnson Peoples Academy, he married Kathleen Gibson in 1940, served in the U.S. Navy CBS during WWII from 1943 - 1946in 1949 he served in the Army National Guard, was an instructor at Camp Picket during the Korean Conflict retiring in 1972. He served as 1st Sgt. of the local National Guard for many years. Bob worked as a heating contractor for 32 years. He is survived by two children and their spouses, Richard & Gat Campbell; their children Frances Matthews and her family, Robert Campbell all of Fayetteville, NC, Roberta & Steven Tanner of Lyndonville; their children, MM3 Eric MacInnis of Everett, WA; Samantha MacInnis of Brighton, MA; Shawn MacInnis of Lyndonville. Additional grandchildren Pamela Moyles & Angela Moyles both of Wheatridge, CO; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews in Vermont. Bob was predeceased by his wife Kathleen in 1980; a daughter Karleen Campbell in 2005. ....show , age 79, a native of St. Johnsbury and Lyndonville he passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the Pines Health and Rehab. Center. Son of the late Clyde R. and Lillian O. (Cole) Carter. He was born May 15, 1927 in St. Johnsbury. He married Ernestine M. Hudson August 23, 1947 in St. Johnsbury, she predeceased him November 2, 2006. Clyde was a member of the Sutton Freewill Baptist Church and served as a trustee, he enjoyed birds, gardening, flowers, hunting, fishing, pets and animals of all kinds, playing cards, calling bingo, he was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. Clyde retired as Master Sergeant from the Vermont Army National Guard after 38 ½ years of service working as a vehicle maintenance engineer. After retiring, he worked as a bus driver for the Burke Schools and then bus driving and maintenance for Lyndon Institute. Clyde is survived by five children and their spouses, Kathleen & Charles Edson of West Burke; Clifton & Lynette Carter; Stephen Carter all of Lyndonville; Cindy & Alan Garceau of Graniteville, VT; Cheryl Carter of Oxnard, CA; seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Cassady, Lawrence J.
....show , age 87, a Lyndonville resident passed away Sunday, March 11, 2007 at the Pines Health and Rehab. Center surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late David H. and Marjorie (Gray) Cassady, he was born November 4, 1919 in Walden, VT He grew up in VT and NH graduating from Littleton High School class of 1938. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, was wounded and received the Silver Star and Purple Heart. Following the War, he was commander of the Army National Guard at the Lyndonville Barracks for seven years. He was later activated to serve in the Korean War. Larry married Margaret Elaine Elizabeth Ojala. She predeceased him in 1970. In 1972 he married Marguerite Ellen Gero. He worked for Vermont Tap & Die in maintenance, and as a plant supervisor under Northeast Tool for many years. He enjoyed the camp, fishing, hunting and gardening, was a member of the Lyndonville VFW Post 10038, American Legion Post #30, and Past President of the Lyndon Outing Club. Among survivors are his wife, Marge of Lyndonville; son, Gary Cassady and Kate Sterns of Littleton; daughters, Barbara Prentice and husband Peter of Solomons, MD; Joanne Simpson and husband Gib of Monjas, Guatemala; Cheryl Hodges of Pine Bush, NY; a step son, Douglas Graham of Sunapee, NH; eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; brothers, Wendell (Jack) Cassady, Richard Cassady; sisters, Rita Miller, Ruth Wheeler; many nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Truman Y. and Lillian (Plaisted) Marshall. She was born June 13, 1902 in Jefferson, New Hampshire. She married Ray S. Clifford, he predeceased her February 12, 1966. Martha was the St. Johnsbury Public Health Nurse for 35 years. Martha was a member of the Mystic Star Chapter #29 Order of the Eastern Star.
Martha is survived by a nephew, Huntley Marshall; three nieces, Mrs. John (Jo Anna) Hall of Danville, Barbara Louthan of Vernon, CT, Elaine Napier of Phoenix, AZ; several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM this afternoon, Saturday, November 24, at the Grace United Methodist Church in St. Johnsbury with the Rev. John Marshall, officiant. Spring committal will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Peggy L Deth
....show , wife to Paul F Deth of South Wheelock VT, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Tuesday October 30, 2007 at the age of 53. She was born on May 18, 1954 in Concord VT the daughter of Wayne L Hartshorn and Anita L (Bryant) Hartshorn. Peggy was raised in Lunenburg VT with her five siblings and graduated from Concord High School in 1972. Peggy and Paul were married on October 28, 1972 in Lunenburg VT. Together they raised their two children and built a beautiful home of which she was so proud. Often called "Peg" she was a diligent, hard working horticulturist for ten years at Elliott's Greenhouses and the last two years at Houghton's Greenhouses. She enjoyed hiking, snowshoeing, and simply being outdoors whether it be on a nature walk or relaxing on her deck listening to the brook. Peggy was an excellent cook as family dinners at her home were common and very special to her. She was the happiest when her family was close by. She was also a faithful Red Sox fan seldom to miss a game. Peggy is survived by her husband of 35 years and 2 days, Paul F Deth (4781 S Wheelock Rd, Lyndonville VT 05851.) Son Joshua P Deth & companion Kristine McAllister (3098 Crepeault Hill Rd, St. Johnsbury VT 05819). Daughter Melissa A Sylvester & husband Rob (1032 Breezy Hill Rd, St. Johnsbury VT 05819). Brothers Douglas L Hartshorn of Waterford VT, and Craig Hartshorn & wife Louise of Concord VT. Sisters Judith L Maynard of Milton VT, Cathy L Hartshorn & husband Trevor Whipple of Berlin VT, and Penny McKinnon & husband Chuck of Littleton NH. Also several nieces, nephew, and two special grand dogs Raven & Jake. She was predeceased by both of her parents, her niece Elizabeth A McKinnon, and a special grand dog Murray. Francis "Frank" T. Fournier
....show of St. Johnsbury passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at the age of 85 at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital after several years of failing health.
Born Jan. 4, 1922, in St. Johnsbury, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Sarah (Raiche) Fournier.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Carol, and his four children, Marie Hardy and her husband, Reg; Tommy and his fiancZe, Deborah; Claire Iby and her husband, Jack; Rachel Reeder and her husband, Jeff. He also is survived by his four step-daughters, Diana Chamberlin and her husband, Denis; Jackie Reed and her husband, Delbert; Christie Parker and her husband, Bill; Cathy Beattie and her husband, Marty. He is additionally survived by a brother, Julien; a sister, Teresa Mudgett; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by 12 brothers and sisters.
Frank lived and worked his entire life in the St. Johnsbury area. He work for Purina Mills, for the town as a police officer, and then for the highway department. Later in his life he worked for Lyndon State College in maintenance, which he loved. His final job was as a volunteer at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab Center, where he was distinguished as Volunteer of the Year in 2001.
Frank proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He fought in World War II with Company D, 172 Infantry Regiment, 43rd Wing Division and was awarded two Bronze Stars. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Besides motorcycling, hunting and fishing, Frank enjoyed hiking with his wife as members of the Appalachian Mountain Club. He was a long-time member of the Caledonia Field & Stream Club. Frank loved the outdoors and feeding "his" birds in the back yard. He lived a long and happy life.

Bertha V. Dilley
....show , a longtime St. Johnsbury resident passed away, Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at her residence. Daughter of the late John F. And Mary E. (Cook) Vance. She was born September 16, 1908 in Ryegate, VT. Bertha attended graded school in Ryegate and Mosquitoville and graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy class of 1928. She graduated nursing school at Brightlook Hospital in 1934, she spent 7 months at a nursing school in Jersey City, NJ where she received her RN. Bertha began working at Brightlook Hospital in 1935, she later became the Town Nurse and eventually worked for Caledonia Home Health, retiring in 1976. During this time she met and married William George Dilley on October 14, 1937, he predeceased her in July 1979. For Bertha, nursing became the joy of her life as she comforted and helped many during her years of service, she also enjoyed antiques, camping, and wintering in Florida. She was a member of the Diamond Chapter #14 of the Eastern Star in Danville. Bertha is survived by two sons, Alfred Dilley and wife Elaine of Lyndon Center, David Dilley and wife Chris of Ocala, FL; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Raymond Dilley in April 2007; three brothers, James, John, Charles; two sisters Florence Grady, Maude Stewart. A funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 28, at the Pearsons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jay Sprout, officiant. Interment will be Tuesday, 11:00 AM in the Lyndon Center Cemetery. Arlene L. Garand
....show , age 87, a former Sheffield resident currently living at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, VT. Born November 9, 1919 in Greensboro, VT. She is the daughter of the late Leonard H. And Rose J. (Provencher) Brown. Arlene loved animals, the out of doors, gardening, crafts, but most of all she was an exceptional mother. She married Donald William Garand in 1961, he predeceased her September 24, 2002. She worked as a cook at the Sheffield School for many years. Arlene is survived by her 5 children, Marjorie Ann Tucker & Larry Wheelock (The Nice Guy) of Dandridge, TN, Doris Marie Krogman of Castaic , CA, Roy Martin & Katherine Clark of Swans Island, ME, William Howard & Kathleen Clark of Lyndonville, Linda Diane & James Foss of Enosburg Falls, Donna Scoville of Worcester, MA; 19 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren; a sister Bertha Goodwin of Lunenburg, VT. James A. Greenwood
....show of St. Johnsbury, Vt., passed away Thursday afternoon, June 28, 2007, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury at the age of 86. He passed away peacefully with his wife at his side.
He was born in St. Johnsbury on July 10, 1920, the son of James A. and Hazel (Wedge) Greenwood. James was raised on Bible Hill in St. Johnsbury. On July 22, 1944, he married the love of his life, Elaine Scott. In 1941, Jim took over a farm from his grandparents where Weidmann Systems International is located now and worked that until the property was sold in 1963. Jim then went to work at Vermont Tap & Die until he retired in 1983. In 1985, Jim and Elaine returned to Bible Hill, living in a home they built on land originally owned by his parents.
Jim is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elaine (1059 Bible Hill Road); his daughter, MaryLou Greenwood of St. Johnsbury; a son, David Greenwood and his wife Cathe of St. Johnsbury; his sister-in-law, Kay Scott of St. Johnsbury; and a cousin, Francis Wedge of Downington, Penn. He was "Papa" to four grandchildren whom he loved very much: Heidi Sessions of St. Johnsbury, Megan Harvey and her husband William of Fort Knox, Ky., David Greenwood II and his wife Jennifer of St. Johnsbury and Cami Greenwood of St. Johnsbury. He was "Old Papa" to three great-grandchildren, who would light up his face when he saw them: William Z. and Rileigh Harvey of Fort Knox, Ky., and Kelsey Greenwood of St. Johnsbury.

James Vernon Hokes
....show , age 62, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2007 at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.
James was born March 18, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio a son of Frank and Luella (Snell) Hokes. He was a U.S. Marine having served in the Vietnam Conflict.
James was self-employed as a carpenter for several years, working around the area. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and gold panning whenever he got a chance. He will always be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Surviving family members include his loving wife of 35 years, Annette (Robinson) Hokes of St. Johnsbury, VT; three sons, Charles H. Ready of Rangeley, ME, Daniel T. Ready and wife, Kathi of Bethlehem, NH, Joseph W. Ready of Lawrenceville, GA; five daughters, Patricia A. Muse and husband, John of Rangeley, ME, Colleen A. Gordon of Nashua, NH, Teresa L. Shufelt of St. Johnsbury, VT, Lori L. Harper and husband, Justin of Concord, VT, Rebecca S. Desilets of St. Johnsbury, VT; one brother, Bert Hokes of Ohio; one sister, Cheryl L. Hokes of St. Johnsbury, VT; close family friend, Cindy C. Sicard of St. Johnsbury, VT; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by one brother, one grandchild, and his parents.
SERVICES: A Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the family home at 113 Ridgewood Drive in St. Johnsbury, VT, all are invited.
Eva M. Howland
....show , age 87, a lifelong Lyndonville resident past away Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Daughter of the late Edwin A. and Verna E. (Bowen) Lawson. Eva was born November 8, 1919 in Coventry. Eva graduated from Lyndon Institute class of 1938, she then married Herman A. (Jake) Howland on January 27, 1939. Eva loved to sing singing in high school, the dance hall, the Baptist church choir and the platform at the Caledonia County Fair; her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of her life. Eva is survived by her five children and their spouses, Robert A. and Mary Howland, Ronald A. Howland and companion Denise Doyon, Donald E. Howland all of Lyndonville, Linda F. Stimpson of Wheelock, Sharon and Jerry Dean of Ocala, FL; a brother and his wife, Robert E. and Calista Lawson of Inverness, FL; fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, an infant daughter, Marlene, husband, son in law Harris W. (Stimp) Stimpson, a brother and sister in law, Edwin and Beverly Lawson, and a sister, Frances LaClair. Noah W. Hudson
....show , age 86, a Lyndonville, Vt., resident, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007, at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehabilitation Center following a lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 24, 1920, in Newark, Vt., he was the son of the late Wallace and Ruth (Sandelin) Hudson. He attended graded school in Newark, Vt., and high school in Brighton, Vt. He received additional schooling from UVM and correspondence schools.
Noah married Barbara Kellaway on Nov. 14, 1945.
Noah began working for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service in Poultney, Vt., in 1945. Work took him to Manchester Center, Vt., and Bennington, Vt.
In 1957, he transferred to Montpelier where he retired in 1985. In 1998, he and Barbara moved to Lyndonville.
Noah was always interested in town government. He served as a moderator, lister, and auditor for Newark, and an auditor and a moderator for 30 years in Berlin, Vt.
He was an associate member of the First Congregational Church of Berlin and served as a deacon and trustee. He was a member of the Lyndonville First Congregational Church; a member and past master of Adoniram Lodge 42 in Manchester Center; Adoniram Chapter 18, Springfield; the Council in Springfield, Vt.; Commandry #12 in Bennington; Cairo Shrine in Rutland, Vt.; treasurer of the Berlin Historical Society; president of the Berlin Corner Cemetery Association; chairman of the Winooski Natural Resources Conservation District; president of the Washington County Credit Union (NARFF); and a member of the Lyndon Historical Society.
Noah loved gardening, trout fishing, golfing and spending time at his Newark property.
Noah is survived by his loving wife of nearly 62 years, Barbara K. Hudson of Lyndonville; a sister, Ruby Hosford of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Hilbert and Prosper; and two sisters, Una and Thelma.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m., at the Lyndonville First Congregational Church, with the Rev. Dereen Abernathy and Sidney Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in the East Haven Cemetery.

Raymond G. La Plume
....show , age 69, a West Burke, Vt., resident, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Oct.. 13, 2007, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, N.H.
Raymond was a longtime resident of Connecticut but moved to Vermont to be closer to his family. Raymond worked on a dairy farm for most of his life, then later at a sawmill, until he could no longer work.
Raymond was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bergman Sr.; a twin brother, Girard La Plume Sr.; and son-in-law Darryl Lanoue.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Marcia E. (Bergman) La Plume of West Burke; his four children, Melissa Lanoue and future son-in-law Robert Harmon of West Burke, Kristen Benoir and companion Todd of Putnam, Conn., Raymond La Plume and future daughter-in-law Olivia Ries of Danville, Vt., and Marciana La Plume of Vermont; three granddaughters, Amber, Jasmine and Haley Lanoue; and two sisters, Connie Lafontaine and Margie Pascale of Rhode Island.
Raymond enjoyed being with his family and three granddaughters. He was a loving husband and devoted father. He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed the company of friends.
Calling hours will be at the Pearsons Funeral Home Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a memorial service to follow.
Shirley Claire (Merchant) Lamothe
....show , 84, of St. Johnsbury, passed away on June 2, 2007.
Shirley was born on September 12, 1922 in St. Johnsbury and was the youngest child of five born to Shirley H. Merchant and Jessie (Sanborn) Merchant. She graduated from Danville High School and enlisted in the United States Navy for the duration of the war plus six months, serving 2 ½ years as a WAVE during World War II. Shirley married Gerard (Jerry) William Lamothe on November 22, 1947.
She was predeceased by her husband, parents, two sisters; Jessie Irene (Merchant) Hubbard and Bernice Glendora (Merchant) Johnston, and two brothers; Theron Charles Merchant and Leroy Howard Merchant.
Shirley is survived by her five children and their spouses, Gerard William, Stephen Charles and wife Nancy (Zufelt), Alfred Samuel and wife Chong, Alice Mary and husband Richard (Lee), and Allen Joel. Also 11 grandchildren and their spouses; Karen (Lamothe) Chang and husband Robert, Kenneth Lamothe, Benjamin Lee and wife Jamie (Hubbard), Jereme Lamothe, Geoffrey Lee, Matthew Lee, Christopher Lamothe, Buddy Lamothe, Daniel Lamothe, Peter Lamothe, and Brianna Lamothe. Survivors also include two great-grandchildren; Hannah and Kaia Chang, sister-in-laws Evelyn Hevey, Jeanne Lamothe, Virginia Lamothe, Frances (Boyle-Lamothe) Chaloux, Germaine Lang and brother-in-law Maurice Morey.
Visiting hours will be at Pearsons Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Lyndonville, VT on June 7, 2007 from 6 - 8 pm.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Lyndon Ward Chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Lyndon, VT, on Friday, June 8, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Burial will be immediately following at the Massey Cemetery in North Danville.

....show , age 81 a lifelong Lyndonville resident, passed away Monday, April 2, 2007 at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital surrounded by family . Daughter of the late Walter & Catherine (Webster) Mitchell. She was born January 27, 1926 in Lyndonville. Beverly was a graduate of Lyndon Institute and received a Teaching Degree from Lyndon State College. She taught school for 52 years teaching in Wilson, NY, Hardwick, Newark Street School (Principal), Burke, St. Johnsbury, and the Lyndon Campus School just to name a few. Beverly retired on two different occasions but returned to teaching as she missed being with the children. She married Edwin A. Lawson, August 1, 1952, he predeceased her October 8, 2004. She was an active member of the Sutton Freewill Baptist Church and the Lyndonville Historical Society. She enjoyed teaching, enjoyed flowers and sewing, she made many prom and wedding dresses as well as much clothing for her family. Beverly was active in local politics, was justice of the peace and was a staunch Republican. (Garand) Lussier. Paytin was a true princess; she was a very happy and independent little girl, especially around her siblings. He is the son of the late Arthur B. and Margie (Ranny) Mason. He was born October 28, 1945 in St. Johnsbury.
James was a demolition contractor for Arthur Mason Demolition. He enjoyed sports, writing, and his camp in St. Johnsbury.
James is survived by three sisters, Patricia Carter & husband Leonard of Lyndonville, Donna Simpson and companion Larry Hearne of St. Johnsbury, Jeanette Dentor of Columbus, OH; many nieces and nephews.
James was predeceased by his parents; three brothers and two sisters, George Mason, Fred Mason, Arthur Mason, Jr., Dorothy Lee, and Carole Clarke.
There will be no public calling hours. Interment will be at a later date in St. Johnsbury.
Steven W. Masure

Born March 19, 1921 in Lyndonville he is the son of the late Joseph C. And Cecil A. (Webster) Masure.
Steven served during WWII in the Army. He was a very personable individual always giving of his time and mechanical talents to help family, friends and strangers with advice.
Steven is survived by three children and their spouses, Steven and Lorraine White of Plymouth, MA, James and Judy Masure of Sutton, Joann and Paul LeClair of Bolton; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren; brother, Dwayne Masure of Sutton, sister Ann Hodges of North Danville. Steven was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.

Masure, Winona Patridge Hovey

Daughter of late Solon and Bertha (Lynaugh) Patridge, she was born May 31, 1928 in Concord, VT. Winona graduated from Concord High School class of 1946 and married Guy Wendel Hovey. They raised three children and later divorced. She then married Basil Carlton Masure. Winona was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed knitting so much that she made countless mittens and hats for the Fire Dept. She loved her flowering crab tree, feeding birds and gray squirrels, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Winona is survived by her children, Roger & Arlene Hovey, and Ronald & Theresa Hovey, all of North Concord; daughter-in-law, Vivian Hovey of Concord; sisters and brothers, Bernice Allard, Beverly Masure, Lois Switzer, Emily Roy, Solon Patridge, Howard Patridge; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marshall B. McCarty

Born May 17, 1933 in Montpelier, he is the son of the late John and Cora (Pike) McCarty. Marshall worked as a farmer; he enjoyed hunting, fishing and enjoying life.
He is survived by nine children, Mary of Lunenburg, Cora of Assonet, MA, Marshall of Wheelock, John of New Bedford, MA, Debbie and Brenda of Texas, David of New Bedford, MA, Everett of N. Concord, Tom of New Bedford, MA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister Iris, many nieces and nephews.

Joan Meserve
....show , age 76, a St. Johnsbury resident, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, April 30, 2007, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center from injuries sustained in a fall.
She was born May 24, 1930, in Mechanic Falls, Maine, to Clarence and Gladys (Jordan) Meserve.
Joan graduated from Edward Little High School in 1949 and the University of New Hampshire 1953. In 1954 she became certified as a medical technologist by the American Medical Society's Board of Clinical Pathologists and remained active in this field until 1973. She worked many years as a dental assistant for Dr. Ducham. In 1995 she retired from the staff of St. Johnsbury Academy in St. Johnsbury, Vt., where she worked as a monitor.
She was a member of the Union Baptist Church and has left a wide variety of friends who will miss her greatly.
She leaves behind a devoted Christian brother and sister, Richard and Nancy Bohlen of Danville, Vt.; and a sister in Christ, Katherine Boone of St. Johnsbury, Vt.
Joan is survived by a brother, Philmore Meserve of Mechanic Falls, Maine; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Malcolm Meserve, and her sister, Phyllis Strout.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 7, at 2 p.m. at the Union Baptist Church.
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Mechanic Falls, Maine, at a later date.

She was a member of the Shepherd Church of the Nazarene of Gahanna, Ohio.
Preceded in death by her husband, Henry D. Metcalf; parents Will and Olive Gardner; and sisters, Eleanor Cove, Nita Ames, Elizabeth Johnson; and brothers Adelbert and Earl Gardner.
Survivors include her three children, Richard L. Metcalf, Ruth Anne Metcalf, and Geri Rosser; sisters Beulah Griffes, Lois Cardwell; brothers Raymond and Clayton Gardner; and grandchildren Andy and Arthur Metcalf.

....show , a West Burke resident passed away at home surrounded by family, at the age of 78, following a lengthy illness.
Daughter of the late Charles A. and Clara (Ward) Ricker. Florence was born January 23, 1929 in Waterbury. She was a member of the Sutton Baptist Church, she enjoyed racing, and the NBA, watching many games and spending time with her grandchildren. Florence was a life member and past president of the VFW Post 10038 Ladies Auxilliary, Lyndonville and member of the American Legion Post 30, Lyndon.
Florence married Hazen W. Mitchell on November 23, 1955 in Lyndon Center. He predeceased her on October 1, 1985. .
Florence is survived by three children, Rebecca Jackson and husband Daniel, Hazen Mitchell, Jr. both of West Burke, and Andrew Mitchell of Lyndonville; a sister, Alice Haskins, brothers, Harold Ricker, and Daniel Ricker. Her grandchildren, Kathryn Jackson-Smith and husband Justin, Daniel Jackson, II, Andrew Mitchell, and Staci Mitchell. A daughter in law Sherri Mitchell; a great granddaughter Molly Smith; and a special friend, Bunny Bickford.. Florence was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Ricker.

Daughter of the late Llewellyn and Josephine (Pilbin) Parks, she was born September 1, 1917 in Hardwick.. Aileen was raised in the Hardwick area and was a 1935 graduate of the Hardwick Academy, she married Harold Perry, he predeceased her on June 11, 1950, she then married Milford Moodie, he predeceased her on November 21, 1968. She worked many different jobs including the Hardwick Knitwares, Stanley Home Products Hostess and a Housekeeper at the Greensboro Bend Nursing Home. She enjoyed righting in her diary, word search, reading, letter righting to family members, game shows on television, and rides with the family. She was an avid Celtics fan, watching every game and knowing all the facts. Aileen is survived by six children and their spouses, Francelia and Nathan Houghton of Lyndonville; Dolly & Andy Fournier of Glover; Becky & Bob Hall of Greensboro Bend; Candy McLeon of Hardwick; Llewellyn & Elaine Perry of Lyndonville; Armour & Rose Moodie of Standard; 35 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Sally Winchester on November 21, 1967; Candys companion Burt Hodgdon in 2004; two brothers and a sister. Alice Player
....show died Jan. 14, 2007, in Hickory Creek, Texas, surrounded by her family.
Born Aug. 12, 1915, in Passumpsic, she was the youngest child of John and Theresa (Beck) Albiser.
She attended Passumpsic schools and graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy, Class of 1933.
She attended nursing school in Jersey City, N.J., and completed her training at Brightlook Hospital in St. Johnsbury, graduating in 1936.
She pursued her nursing career both as a private care nurse and for several local doctors. In later years, she was one of the first nurses at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.
On June 22, 1940, she married Donald A. Player. Together they made a home and raised their family on a small farm on Clay Hill in St. Johnsbury.
Alice was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Alice is survived by her three sons and their wives, Brian Player and wife Judy (Gravett) of Arlington, Mass., Robert Player and wife Barbara (Wells) of Hickory Creek, Texas, and Lee Player and wife Sandy (Veillieux) of Bergen, N.Y.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Michaud of Presque Isle, Maine, and Shirley Player of Hamden, Conn; a niece, Becky (Pratt) Gibson of Monroe, N.H.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Close friends and neighbors Kay Phelps and Everett Ranney of Clay Hill should be remembered for their kindness.
Alice was predeceased by an infant sister; her husband, Donald, in 1995; two brothers, John Albiser, and Fr. Henry Albiser; and a sister, Madeline Pratt.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Friday, May 25, 11 a.m. with the Rev. Pat Forman, celebrant. Interment will follow in the Lyndon Center Cemetery.

Born August 10, 1915 in Barnet, daughter of the late John and Theresa (Beck) Albiser. She married Donald Player, he predeceased her in 1995. Among survivors is a son Robert Player of Lake Dallas, TX. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, May 25, 2007, 11:00 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will then follow in Lyndon Center Cemetery. A complete notice will run in May. Powers, Daniel G. "Dan"
....show of Waterford passed away surrounded by family Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at the Brigham & Womens Hospital in Boston following a lengthy illness. The son of Russell F. and Patricia E. (Wallace) Powers, he was born September 1, 1953 in Attleboro, MA. He married Jane M. Wright June 22, 1974 in St. Johnsbury. Dan was a logger, owning and operating D & G Logging with his son, Glen. He was also a great mechanic; he could fix anything. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, walking, carpentry, blue grass music, playing his mandolin, working on the house and family history. Dan is survived by his loving wife of thirty two years, Jane Powers of Waterford; five children and their spouses, Tricha Anne & Chad Pennypacker of Barnet; Katie Ellen & James Fischer of Trenton, FL; Nancy Powers of Lyndonville; Glenn & Nancy Powers of Joes Pond; Angela Powers of Waterford; his parents, Russell & Patricia Powers of Waterford; parents in law, Wayne and Elizabeth Wright of Lyndonville; brothers and sisters, Ronald L. & Sherrill Powers; Judy & Steve Daniels all of Waterford; Sandra Jean & Kenneth Grant of Lyndonville; Sharon & Nicholas Bohlen of Chicago; Kevin R. & Debra Powers of Waterford; nine grandchildren. Geoffrey E. Sachse
....show , age 43, a Lyndonville resident passed away Friday, August 17, 2007 at his residence.
Born April 8, 1964 in Manchester, CT., he is the son of the late George E. and Jeanette (Meisinger) Sachse. Geoffrey graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy class of 1982. He married Alice Ruggles, February 14, 1997. He was a devoted father.
Geoffrey was a dedicated member of the Vermont Free Masons, a past master of Benton Lodge #88 in Guildhall, an honorary member of Crescent Lodge #66 in Lyndon and assisted other lodges through volunteering as needed.
Geoffrey was a gifted musician and able to play any instrument he could get his hands on. He was a member of the American Amateur Radio League, and he was an active volunteer in both the Red Cross and Lyons Club. Geoffrey was always ready to help those in need.
He owned and operated the Burke View Barbeque and was well recognized for his expertise as a computer consultant.
Geoffrey is survived by his wife Alice of Lyndonville, son, Jonathon Davis and wife Christina of Sutton, mother, Jeanette Ware and husband Bob of East Burke, sister, Stephanie Champney and husband Ted of Whitney Point, NY, two-step sisters, Robin Drinkwater and husband Shane, Sarah Goodwin and husband Randy, step-brother William Ware, an aunt, Ellen Banks and husband Jim, brother-in-law Charles E. Ruggles, Jr., and wife Debbie, sister-in- law Annie Shultz and husband Steve, sister-in-law Deborah Lee and husband David, sister-in-law Tammy Thorpe and fiancé Nick Palmer, sister-in-law Amy Ruggles and friend Joseph Leone. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as friend and business partner Richard Kinney and mentor and friend Raymond Clark.
He was predeceased by his father George, his mother-in-law Claudette Ruggles, father-in-law Charles Ruggles, brother-in-law Michael Ruggles, brother-in-law Gerard Ruggles
A memorial service was held Sunday at the Masonic Benton Lodge #88 in Guildhall.
There will be a celebration of Geoffrey's life at 6:00pm Tuesday August 19 at the Masonic Lodge in Lyndon.

Francis (Frank) Schools
....show , a Newark resident passed away Saturday, August 4, 2007 at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab. Center.
Born October 7, 1919 in Seaside Park, New Jersey. Son of the late Francis and Jane Schools. Frank served in the Navy during WWII, worked in manufacturing, loved dogs, feeding the birds, fishing, and writing. He had a great sense of humor and was always found telling a joke. He was a member of VFW Post # 10038, Lyndonville.
Frank is survived by five children and spouses, James and Cathy of Washington, NC, Dorothy Donald Morrill of Newark, Andrew and Georgia Schools of Gilbert, SC, Mary Jackson of Concord, NH, Lisa Schools of Newark; several grand and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two children, Mary Channon in 1998, Christopher Schools in 2004.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, August 8, in Newark.
Zelda Cox Simpson
....show , 89, of East Lyndon, died peacefully on October 13th at NVRH in Saint Johnsbury, with her family at her side.
Zelda was born in June 11, 1918 in Saint Johnsbury to Alfred Cox and Iva Davidson Cox. Her childhood years were spent in East Lyndon except for 2 years in Chesterfield Hollow (Mudd Hollow).
She graduated from Lyndon Institute in 1937. On September 5, 1938 she married Leland Simpson and moved to the Wilder Farm in East Lyndon where she spent the rest of her life. Zelda and Leland had four children; Timothy James, Wilder Leland, Carolyn Joyce and Gilbert Arthur. She worked hard on the farm, a true farmers wife, involved in everything from milking cows to driving trucks. She had considerable strength and stamina to show for it.
Zelda considered herself fortunate to help raise her many grandchildren, whom she always filled with great love and encouragement. She was beloved to them all, as well as to many nieces, nephews and god children.
She was active in Ladies Home Demonstration, a 4-H leader and a member of Eastern Star. During Lelands fourteen years in the state legislature she enjoyed her time in Montpelier and was an active member in State Legislative Auxiliary. She held several jobs over the years at Maple Grove, Fabrictown and Lyndon Institute among other places. She enjoyed her trips to Alaska, Hawaii and England.
Zelda was a woman of deep faith , and a member of the Lyndonville Methodist Church. Recently she and Leland took great pleasure in holding church Bible study at their home. She was a talented gardener, who cultivated many beautiful and bountiful gardens. She enjoyed quilting, and developed unique necktie quilt designs. She also enjoyed watching the Red Sox and football, and playing cards. She particularly treasured the time she spent with her husband Leland. The two joyously celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in September. She took comfort and delight in time spent with all her family and her many dear friends. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband Leland, son Wilder Simpson and his wife Mary, daughter Carolyn Simpson, all of Lyndonville, son Gilbert and his wife Joanne of Guatemala and daughter- in- law Sara Simpson of Lyndonville. She is also survived by many grand children and great grandchildren including Tim Simpson and his wife Angela and daughter Zee (named for her great-grandmother); Beth Hahr and husband Greg and their children Molly, Abby, and Meghan; Susan Simpson and partner Deborah Lowe; Christine Motyka and husband Jason and children Avery and Owen; Jessica Simpson and husband Justin Krause and sons Wilson and Benjamin; Erin Campbell and partner Pete Foster, and children Kristina and Conner; Glen Simpson, Ginny Simpson and children Greg and Kristy; Jeffrey Simpson and wife Melanie and son Nathan; Cathy Endes and husband Morey and children Joshua and Tessamae; Lynn Frisby and husband Jerome and daughter Amelia; Michael Simpson and wife Tammy. She is survived, as well, by sisters Hazel Dwinell and Leah Smith, brother Maynard Cox and sister-inlaw Sarah Cox.
She is predeceased by her son Timothy Simpson, her sisters Louise Cox, Ruth Rivers and brother Elmer Cox.
A memorial service will be held at the Lyndonville Methodist Church on Thursday October 18th at 11am. with the Rev. Barbara A. Dwyer, officiant.

Newell V. (Stub) Somers
....show , age 78, a longtime Lyndonville, Vt., resident passed away Monday, July 30, 2007, at Fletcher-Allen Hospital in Burlington, surrounded by his family.
Born April 25, 1929, in St. Johnsbury, he was the son of Levi Vance and June Somers. He was raised by his adopted grandparents, Perez Newell and Grace (Bovee) Somers.
He attended grade school in Passumpsic and graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy, Class of 1947.
He joined the Air Force, traveling to Texas, Massachusetts and Alaska.
He was DHIA supervisor from 1953 to 1977 (Caledonia County), and worked in the Lyndonville Post Office from 1966 until his retirement in February 2000. After retirement, Stub and Sean started raising Scottish Highlander beef cattle.
Stub is survived by his ex-wife, Janice (Hunter) Somers of Lyndonville; their children, Newell C. (Charlie) of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Sean J. and wife Debora James-Somers, Gamaliel (Sam), Jennie G. Somers and fianc Roy Grant, all of Lyndonville.
He is also survived by grandchildren Benjamin James of Winooski, Jonathan James, Stephanie Grant, both of Lyndonville; brother Dale Deblois of St. Johnsbury Center; sister Marilyn Drown of St. Johnsbury; special niece Cathy Fuller and husband David of Bolton; nephews Donald, Allen Dale and Bobby Drown; and cousins.
Calling hours will be this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Pearsons Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be Thursday, 2 p.m., in the North Danville Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Sergeant officiant.

Stone, Maurice J.
....show , age 88; a Lyndonville native and formerly of the Green Lantern Trailer Park in St. Johnsbury Center passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab. Center. Son of the late Albert and Madeline (McCann) Stone. He was born August 21, 1918 in Lyndonville. He married Edna Courtney October 22, 1941 in St. Johnsbury, she predeceased him May 26, 2006. Maurice was a dock worker for Purina and was head of the Millworkers Union for many years. He was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, having fun, fishing, camping and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Maurice is survived by a son, Bruce Stone and wife Norma of Concord; two granddaughters, Nicole Bruno & husband Charles of Kirby; Stephenie Squires and husband Jeffery of Sheffield; five great grandchildren, Sarah, Amanda, Bruce, Courtney, and Casey. Nieces & nephews, William & Connie Stone; Al & Dorothy Garrison all of Houston, TX; Leslie & Kathy Newland of Sheffield. He was predeceased by a brother, Harlan Stone. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 23, 1:00 PM at the Pearsons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeanette McKnight, officiant. Visiting hours will be Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Pearsons Funeral Home. Interment will be in the spring at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family extends an invitation to join them at the Lyndonville American Legion Post 30 for a time of sharing and refreshments following the services.
Cheryl Ann (Sherri) Temple
....show , age 54, of East Burke, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2007, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, following a two year struggle with cancer.
She was born June 29, 1953, at Brightlook Hospital in St. Johnsbury, to Ralph and Shirley Temple, of East Burke. Sherri graduated in 1971 from Lyndon Institute. Over the years she was a local real estate agent (Sprucewood Realty) and operated her own screen printing business. Snowmobiling, kayaking, and the time she spent on her meadow were some of her favorite pastimes. She was a devoted mother, a special grandmother, a loving daughter, a caring sister, a thoughtful aunt, and an unforgettable friend to many.
She will be sadly missed by her large circle of friends, and particularly her longtime friend Bob, whom she has asked her sister Cindy to care for. Sherri was the Activities Director within her group of friends. For many years she coordinated tips to Old Orchard Beach and St. Petersburg, FL, and a special event her famous pig roast on the Meadow. These events were extremely important to Sherri, and she definitely took her role seriously. There are many screen printed in the Meadow shirts in the community that will continue to remind us of her generous and fun loving nature
Besides her parents, Sherri leaves behind her son, Matthew Kvam and wife Karie; her daughter, Danielle Kvam and significant other Matthew Reen; her grandchildren, Shani Billings, Angela Kvam and Erin Kvam; her siblings, David Temple and wife Joanne, Michael Temple and wife Kathy, Cindy Temple and her cocker spaniel, Bailey; a niece and nephews. She was predeceased by infant twins, Eric and Katrina.
Visiting hours will be at the Pearsons Funeral Home, Wednesday, from 4:00 PM till 6:00 PM, with a short service of remembrance beginning at 5:30 PM.
Joseph G. Therriault
....show ; age 82, a North Concord resident passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Joseph was born December 24, 1924 in Lyndonville a son of Joseph G. and Laura (DuFord) Therriault. He served in the US Navy during WWII.
Joseph was employed at Vermont Tap and Die for 37 ½ years retiring January 1, 1987. He loved drawing, painting, woodworking, and outdoor family barbeques. Josephs family was where he found his greatest joy. Joseph was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lyndonville Post #10038. Joseph married Lucille Couture on May 10, 1947, she predeceased him April 1, 1976. He later married Charlene Coutuer on May 16, 1978, she predeceased him January 17, 1997.
Joseph is survived by three daughters, Roberta Young and fiancee Ronnie Gatlin both of Cleveland, TN, Marie Irons and husband John of N, Concord, Jodie Sumner of Concord, step-daughter, Cherrie Mooney and husband Joe of N. Concord, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a daughters Cheryl Hutchins, Lucienne Young, son Peter Therriault.
Callings hours will be Saturday, 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM with a memorial service beginning at 1:00 PM at the Pearsons Funeral Home.

Randall K. Valley
....show , 46, of Barton died suddenly Monday morning at his camp on Crystal Lake, Barton, VT. Randall was born August 16, 1960 in Newport, the son of Lawrence R. and Fay (Urie) Valley. He graduated from Lake Region High School in 1977. Randall owned Anglin Boat & Canoe Rentals and was caretaker for many Crystal Lake properties. He worked at Burke Mountain during the winter months. In earlier years he worked as a lineman for several electrical contractors. Randalls happiest times were spent out on the lake in his boat with his beagle Joe. He loved taking pictures of sunrises and sunsets over the lake and pulling his son Ransom while he water skied. Survivors include his son, Ransom of Jackson Hole, WY, his mother, Fay of Barton, two brothers and their families, Wayne Valley of Barton and his daughter, Alicia Tosi and family of Barre, Mark Valley and his wife Joyce and their son Will and family of Sheffield and daughter Heather of Portland, ME, his brother in law, Charles McQuade of Lyndonville and two sons, Chris and Casey McQuade of West Burke and their families. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends. Also his former wife Linda Wells Valley Delano of Hinsdale, NH. He was predeceased by his father Lawrence in 1981, his sister Terry Lynn (Valley) McQuade in Dec. 2006. A graveside service will be held Saturday, at St. Pauls Cemetery in Barton at 1:00 P.M. afterwards there will be a gathering to celebrate his life at Fays house. 55 Mill Lane, South Barton. Helen E. Wilson
....show , age 86, a St. Johnsbury, Vt., resident, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007, at her residence surrounded by her family following a lengthy illness.
Born Jan. 23, 1921, in Lunenburg, Vt., she was the daughter of Frederick and Lila (Nichols) Whitehead.
She married Waldo Wilson. He predeceased her.
Helen enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and bingo. She loved spending time at the Riverside Life Enrichment Center, especially the Wednesday art classes. She was a member of the Moose and thoroughly enjoyed karaoke night.
Helen is survived by a daughter, Valerie Rosa Wilson Appleby of North Charleston, S.C.; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she raised, Rosa Larabee and children John Noyes, Robin Noyes and her child, Cody; Tracy Noyes & her children, Tosha Donna and Courtney Donna; Raymond Boutin and wife Jennifer, their children, Kyla and Khloey Boutin; Robin Boutin and companion Shawn Greenwood, her child Dylan Brink; James Lang; John Sleep; Richard LaFleur and son A.J.; Della LaFleur and daughter, Aggie LaFleur; Fleashia Appleby and daughters, JaNicka Appleby and Jamiela Evans, Jessie Appleby; brothers, George and Harriett Whitehead of Lunenburg, Donald Whitehead of Concord, Allen and Anne Whitehead of Maidstone, sisters, Hazel Wood of Lancaster, N.H., Sarah Cox of East Lyndon, Minnie White of Groveton, N.H., Elizabeth Thergon of Thermopolis, Wyo.
