, 50, of St. Albans died in Burlington following a car accident on Tuesday, November 13, 2007. Mr. Griggs was born in Morrisville on August 18, 1957, a son or Reginald L. and Eleanor M. (McLean) Griggs. He was a 1976 graduate of Craftsbury Academy, where he is remembered as an avid soccer player. He lived and worked in the Morrisville area and married Deborah Miller in 1978. He worked hard to attain his goal of becoming a master electrician, which was his work. Music was his love. When he could no longer work due to his heart condition, he still had his music. He loved gospel, country, and bluegrass. He was a poet who wrote songs from his heart and personalized many for his family and friends. He was a songwriter and singer who lived to share his love of music. His family was his home, and music was his gift. He participated in many local talent shows; at the Colgate Country Show; in St. Albans, Enosburg, and many other places; and at Lamoille County Field Days, where he won first-place prize and dedicated a song he wrote for his son-in-law Alex, who was serving in Iraq, called "Uncrossed T's and Open A's." He went to Nashville with his son, and he sang at the infamous Bluebird Café. He performed at the National Kidney Foundation fund-raiser for transplant patients and "competed" in the Organ Transplant Olympics in Orlando, Florida, in 2002. He actively volunteered his time and talent for the Freedom Fund, raising money to send care packages to troops overseas. He loved freely and deeply without pretense. He gave of his music and himself whenever the occasion presented itself. His talent will be enjoyed by his family and friends for many years as he left a legacy in music on his compact discs and in the words to many songs he wrote for his family. He was a great minister through his music, which will continue with his son Lucas, also an avid guitar player and musician. As a heart transplant recipient, he appreciated life and all that it encompasses. Now he is writing songs for the angels to sing. Most recently, he was a radio personality in St. Albans for WLFE doing the morning show. He produced and presented "Franklin County Friday Nights" and hosted the Saturday morning "Trading Post." He especially enjoyed the "Friday Nights" where he introduced and presented local talent to the masses. In keeping with his love of people and children, he coached his children in Little League softball and Lamoille County All Stars and even took the teams to state and New England championships. He recently helped coach an elementary soccer program in Fairfield and was an official umpire for his niece's softball team in Lowell.
