Norman B. Lawrence Sr.
....show , 77, died Friday March 31, 2006, in Danville, NH.
Mr. Lawrence was born in Lowell, MA, on November 4, 1928, the son of Harold and Edna (Mitchell) Lawrence.
In his youth he lived in Methuen, MA and finished his formal schooling at the Edward Searles High School. In the late 30s his family moved to Pelham, NH. He later took insurance company courses, and then he worked in the insurance field for various companies. Norman then became self-employed doing insurance and bank inspections of property. He also served three terms in the NH State Legislature (1975,1989, and 1991). During his last term he served with his wife, Eva Mae (Melanson) Lawrence. In 1992, he and Eva moved to Whitefield to retire. Eva and Norman were married a total of 55 years and had 10 children.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Norman B. Lawrence Jr., and Dr. Mark Lawrence; seven daughters, Alice Clancy, Helen Bethel, Eva Axne, Evelyn West, Ruth Lawrence, Mary Sullivan, and Marion Current; a brother, Alan Lawrence, a sister, Ruth Miller; 20 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by, his son Walter Robert Lawrence in 1970.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday April 2, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Monday morning at 11:00 at the Advent Christian Church, Whitefield. Reverend Lou Going will officiate. Burial will be Tuesday April 4, at 11 AM in the Gibson Cemetery, Pelham.

Mr. Norman Earl Rose, Jr.
....show 84, of the McKee Inn, died Sunday evening March 26, 2006 at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Norman was born in Lexington, North Carolina on June 18, 1921, the son of Norman Earl and Daphne (Sink) Rose Sr.
Mr. Rose was a native of Davidson County, he served in the Navy during WWII, as a submariner. He was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church where he was a superintendent and teacher of the Sunday school. He was the president of Vo Hammie Carr class and held many church offices. Norman retired as president of Coble Printing Company of Oxford, NC. He was also a former member of the Kiwanis Club and a Freemason.
Family members include his wife Josephine Hedrick Rose of Lancaster; a son Reverend David Dermont Rose also of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Max Stephen Rose, Hannah Elizabeth Rose, Jett Mitchell Rose, Cameron Eliza Rose, Sadie Rebekah Rose, and one great-grandchild, James Caldwell Rose.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family in North Carolina.

Auretta L. "Midge" Simonds
....show , 92, formally of McKee Inn, died Sunday March 26, 2006, at the Merriman House, North Conway.
Mrs. Simonds was born in Jefferson, NH, on March 23, 1914, the daughter of Abel Largey and Lydia (Virge) Lombard.
Midge was resident at the McKee Inn for 15 years, prior to moving to the Merriman House in 2000. She was a past member of the Colonel Town Senior Citizens, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, and was also a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.
Family members include a son Carl E. Simonds of Alton; two daughters, Rona A. Savage of Whitefield and Betty Lou Walker of Miami, FL; 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, 7 great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by, her husband Bryden M. Simonds; two grandchildren, Carl Simonds Jr., Rogena Savage; brothers and sisters.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday March 28, from 7-9 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 AM, at the Advent Christian Church, Whitefield. Reverend Bryce Whiting will officiate. Burial will at a later date in Park Street Cemetery, Whitefield.

Robert MacLean
....show , 63, of Highland Street, died March 26, 2006, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mr. MacLean was born in Berlin, NH on November 9, 1942, the son of Lyman and Irene (Wright) MacLean.
During his life he worked for a time at the Lincoln Paper Mill and as a chef. Bob loved to travel and was very musical he could play many instruments.
Family members include a sister, Joan and cousins.

Mary M. Stinson
....show , 78, of Melcher Street, died Thursday morning March 23, 2006, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mrs. Stinson was born in Groveton, on January 24, 1928, the daughter of James Henry and Sarah Anne (Emery) Cass.
Mary was raised in Groveton and resided in Stratford for 46 years, originally at the Stinson Farm. In 1996 she returned to Groveton.
Family members include four daughters; Linda Gilbert of Groveton, Peggy Goodale of Norwich, CT, Nancy Lamoureux of Maidstone, VT, and Mary Lou Stinson of Norwich, CT; two sons, Charles P. Stinson Jr. and James B. Stinson both of Stratford Hollow; two sisters Elizabeth Arsenault and Flora E. Auger both of Groveton; two brothers Elmer Cass also of Groveton and Robert Cass of Concord, VT; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Charles P. Stinson Sr. in 1980, and a son Dennis P. Stinson.
At Marys request there will not be calling hours. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Center Cemetery, Stratford.

Hilda Smith Kenison
....show , 92, of Presidential Highway, died Sunday morning March 19, 2006 at the Morrison Nursing Home, Whitefield after a short illness.
Mrs. Kenison was born in Jefferson on September 3, 1913 the daughter of Leon Elbridge Smith and Hazel (Brown) Smith.
She was raised on a farm in Lancaster, along with twelve siblings, and resided most of the rest of her life in Jefferson. She graduated from high school in Somerville, MA and then from the Nashua Training School for Nurses. She worked as a nurse for several years in Littleton Hospital.
Hilda met her future husband at a benefit dance for the Jefferson baseball team, of which he was a member, and the two of them continued to enjoy ballroom dancing throughout the decades of their married life together. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, wildlife, hiking, skiing, golfing, and was an avid baseball, football, and basketball fan. She especially enjoyed the birds that gathered at her feeders. On the 4th of July, she always loved to share the prime parade viewing area of her front porch with friends and relatives.
She was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church in Jefferson, as well as Rebekah Lodge # 92 and the JACs. No food sale was complete without Hildas Hermits. She and her husband were named Citizens of the Year of Jefferson by the Starr King Grange in 1994. For many years, she planted and tended the red, white, and blue petunias in Jefferson center triangle, which contained a veterans memorial, and also raised and lowered the American flag there daily. In recognition of her efforts, the Veterans of Foreign Wars presented her with an award for meritorious and distinguished service in 1998.
She was married to Coleman D. Kenison, who died after 54 years of marriage in 1994.She is survived by five children; a daughter Doris Ann Sweet of Auburndale, MA; four sons, Leon Kenison of Bow, Albert Kenison of Lawrenceville, GA, Coleman Kenison Jr. of Lafayette, NJ, Thomas Kenison of North Swanzey; a brother Merlin Smith of Stoughton, MA; two sisters, Hazella Collins of Lancaster and Lida Griffin of North Easton, MA; eleven grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, including her namesake Hilda Jane Baker of Lancaster. She was predeceased by six brothers and three sisters.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday March 21, from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster. Rev. Dr. Thomas W. Bentum, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in the Starr King Cemetery, Jefferson.

Maria T. Widmayer
....show , 81, of Prospect Street, died Saturday morning March 18, 2006, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mrs. Widmayer was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on February 26, 1925, the daughter of William and Anna (Trurish) Robas.
Maria was raised in Pennsylvania until the 1930s when her family moved to New York. In 1949 she married her husband of 56 years Edward J. Widmayer. She worked as a Business Representative for AT & T for 30 years, retiring in 1976. She has been a resident of Lancaster since 1978.
She loved to cook, knit, and read, especially mysteries.
Family members include her husband Edward of Lancaster, a nephew Joseph Daleo and his wife Marie of Maui. She was predeceased by her sister Sophie Daleo.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday March 21, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will follow immediately after at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Reverend William Brown, of Gilman, VT , will officiate. Burial will follow in the Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.

Kathleen A. Nelson
....show , 60, of North Road, died Thursday evening, March 16, 2006, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, after a long illness with diabetes.
Mrs. Nelson was born in Morristown, NJ, on April 13, 1945, the daughter of Herbert and Annabelle (Tunnis) Neidel.
Kathy was raised in New Jersey and was a 1963 graduate of Morristown High School.
In 1967 she married Nels P. Nelson III of Basking Ridge, NJ, and they moved to Guildhall in 1971. There they raised their family and operated a farm raising quarter horses and cattle. She also assisted her husband in the operation of his business.
Mrs. Nelson was long time equestrian who rode show horses in amateur and professional circuits. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, spending time with people and was loved by all who knew her.
She was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church where she assisted with many of the churchs activities.
Family members include her husband Nels; two sons, Nels Philip Nelson IV and wife Karen of Guildhall, VT, Christopher E. Nelson and wife Tracey of Jefferson; grandchildren, Eric, Jacob, Katelyn, Megan, Kyle, and Kegan.
At Kathys request there will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held Tuesday morning March 21, at 11:00 AM, at St. Pauls Church, Lancaster. Rev. David Rose, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Ridgwell Cemetery, Guildhall.

Marilyn Cora Colby Pond
....show , 68, of West Main Street, died Thursday afternoon March 16, 2006, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mrs. Pond was born in Lunenburg on June 13, 1937, the daughter of Clifford Clark and Eleanor Cora (Morse) Colby.
Marilyn worked at home for Henschel Shoe Company of Littleton, for several years. She also worked for the Lancaster Bowling Alley, Stinehour Press, Lunenburg, Manchester Knitted Fashions, Whitefield, and for the Lancaster Home Health Agency.
She loved cats, flower gardening, and needlepoint.
Family members include her husband of 43 years, Clive A. Pond of Lunenburg; a daughter Eleanor M. (Parks) Frechette of Lunenburg; two sons, Brian D. Parks of Dalton, Gary R. Pond of Haverhill, MA; grandchildren, Adam Frechette of West Springfield, MA, Sarah Frechette of Hartford, VT, Katrina Parks and Nathan Parks both of Dalton; and a sister Marcia E. Pond of Lunenburg. She was predeceased by a sister Karlene Silsby and a brother Dana Luke Colby.
Services will be at the discretion of the family.

Lillian E. Flynn
....show , 80, of Sand Street, died Saturday morning March 11, 2006 at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mrs. Flynn was born in Guildhall, VT, on June 18, 1925, the daughter of Berton W. and Consuella (Burt) McLain.
She was raised for a time in Guildhall later moving to Lancaster with her family to operate a farm on Route 2. Remaining a longtime member of Lancaster, she married her late husband Thomas H. Flynn. For a time she was employed at the Kraft Bag Mill in Gilman. She then took time to raise her family and was self-employed for many years cleaning homes, a job that also rewarded her with the gift of extended families.
Lillian enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens, making home preserves, and embroidery. He greatest pleasure was spending time with her great-grandchildren playing games and doing puzzles.
Surviving family members include three daughters, Sharon Powell, Susan Flynn, and Donna Flynn, all of Lancaster; a sister Mary Ball of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Tina Desrochers and husband Jason, Tammie Gawronski and husband Alan, Michael Powell and Cari Hodgdon; seven great-grandchildren, Abigail, Elizabeth Alexa, Mason, Peyton Adam, Hannah; and many nieces and nephews.
At Lillians request there are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held Monday afternoon, March 13, at 2:00, in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster. Rev. Dean A. Stiles, pastor of the Jefferson Christian Church, will officiate.

....show , 88, formally of Walsh Ave., Newington, CT, died Wednesday March 8, 2006 at Maple View Manor, Rocky Hill.
He was born in Lancaster, NH, on January 8, 1918, son of the late Frank and Doris M. (Plaisted) Alexander and was a resident of Newington since 1956 moving to Rocky Hill in 1999. He was the beloved husband of the late Gertrude M. Stewart. He was the owner and operator of Atlantic Locksmith for 25 years.
Richard was a member of the Mt. Jefferson IOOF Lodge and the Starr King Grange, both of Jefferson.
He is survived by two sons Bernard Alexander, of Forestville, CT and Edward Alexander and his wife Kathleen, of Newington, CT, a daughter Anne Alexander, of Enumclaw, WA, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held Friday March 10, from 5-7 PM at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, CT. ....show , infant daughter of Anna May Brown and Joshua F. Perras, died Sunday April 30, 2006, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon. She had a strong heart and was surrounded by her loving family.
Jewelya was born in Lancaster on April 28, 2006.
She is survived parents of Northumberland; maternal grandparents Ray and Claudette Brown of Northumberland; paternal grandparents Robert F. and Christine Perras of Northumberland; aunts and uncles, Gina, Alcide, Denise, Kristina, Patricia, Keven, Bobby, Nicholas; several great-grandparents, and many great aunts, great uncles and cousins.

Mrs. Allin was born in Dummer, NH, on July 23, 1929, the daughter of Rosaire and Mabel (Magill) Frechette.
Elelia was raised in the North Country but resided most of her lifetime in Peterborough, NH. There she was a full time homemaker raising eight children with her first husband Glen Courser Sr. After Glens retirement they returned north. She always loved spending time with her family and enjoyed reading and baking in her spare time. Glen predeceased her in 1990 and she later married Stuart G. Allin of Lancaster.
She was a member of the Dalton Congregational Church and the Grange.
Surviving family members include six children, Glen Courser Jr. and wife Kathleen of Dalton, Kenneth Courser Sr. and wife Margaret of Dunbar, PA, Dwight Courser and wife Cindy of Athol, MA, Jean Judkins and husband Everett of Antrim, Catherine Burgess and husband Steven of Sebago, ME, Neal Courser and wife Dorothy of Manchester, NH; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her second husband Stuart and two children, Sheila Courser and Daniel Courser.

Raymond Robert Hodge
....show , 85, died early Thursday morning, April 20, 2006 at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Hodge was born in Guildhall, Vermont on February 22, 1921, the son of John and Winifred (Daniels) Hodge.
Raymond was educated at the Guildhall Village School and was a graduate of Groveton High School. He also attended Saint Johnsbury Vocational School. His employment included working for Fred W. Peaslee, in Guildhall, Wyoming Valley Paper, in Northumberland, Beechers Equipment, in Lancaster and Robert Wentworth, carpentry. He retired from James River Corporation, Groveton in 1986.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving with the 767th Military Police Battalion during WWII.
Ray enjoyed gathering with friends and family, hunting, fishing and playing cards. He was a 17-year member of the American Legion Post # 17, Groveton, a 60-year member of the Benton Lodge # 88 F & AM, Guildhall. He was also a former member of Wilena Benton Chapter Eastern Star, an avid member of NRA and was a member of the Guildhall Community Church.
He was an active member of the Guildhall Old Home Day activities and the Community Chest; he served his local government as cemetery commissioner and water commissioner.
Family members include his wife of 58 years Edith Winnie Rowell Hodge of Guildhall, 3 children; Sharon Bissonnette and her husband Clement of Winooski, VT, Jeffrey Hodge of Guildhall, and Sharon Bacon and her husband Dennis also of Guildhall; a sister Marion Klinefelter and her husband John of Guildhall; two granddaughters; Manessa Rae of Londonderry, Martha Rose of Tahlequa, OK; a grandson Mitchell Bissonnette of Winooski, VT; a great-granddaughter Molly Elizabeth of Londonderry; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, John Harold, Stuart Ida, Carlos Shepard, and an infant brother; sisters Gertrude Keysar, Florence Polkay, and Grace Grondin.
A visiting hour will be held Saturday April 22, from 1-2 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Masonic service will held at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow at the Guildhall, in Guildhall, VT.
