She married Gordon Sargent, who predeceased her. , 81, of Newport Center died in Newport on Tuesday, September 26, 2006. Mrs. Royea was born in Newport Center on December 21, 1924, a daughter of Clyde and Budd (Wilcox) Columbia. On October 9, 1952, she married Guy Royea, who survives her. She worked as a nurse at the Broadview Hospital and the Orleans County Memorial Hospital and for Dr. Dean Mosher at the Newport Clinic. She was a member of the Advent Christian Church in Newport Center and was very involved with her children. She enjoyed going to Florida with her husband, knitting, crocheting, and doing crafts. Besides her husband, she is survived by her children Susan Royea and David Royea and his wife, Diane, of Newport Center; by grandchildren: Christopher Royea and his wife, Jennifer, of Nashville, Tennessee, Jennifer Royea of Newport, Jesse Royea of Derby, and Kevin Royea and his wife, Kristie, of North Troy; by her brothers Gordon Columbia of Newport Center and Ronald Columbia and his wife, Maria, of Norfolk, Virginia; and by seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings Richard and Rachel. Funeral services were held September 29 at the Advent Christian Church. Interment followed at the Newport Center Cemetery. , 52, of North Troy died at her home on Monday, September 25, 2006. Mrs. Grenier was born in Derry, New Hampshire, on April 19, 1954, a daughter of Rudolph E. and Fayelene (Sylvester) Paquette. She had over 28 years of service with Ames department store, working her way to manager. She enjoyed scrapbooking, stamping, and gardening. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, attending family gatherings, and having the grandchildren over for visits. On June 12, 1976, she married Leo E. Grenier Jr., who survives her. She is also survived by her children: Hope Leigh Gray of Lowell, Ann Marie Bathalon of Jay, and Leo Christopher Grenier of Newport; by her grandchildren: MariahBathalon of Jay, AdrienTetreault of Jay, Hunter Gray of Lowell, and AleighaBonneau of Lowell; by her brother Lawrence Paquette and his wife, Elizabeth, of Lyndonville; by her half-brother Armand Paquette and his wife, Kim, of Keene, New Hampshire; and by her half-sister Tammy Gagnon and her husband, Sylvain, of Orleans. , 72, of Orleans died at her home on Friday, September 29, 2006. Mrs. Blair was born in Racine, Quebec, on May 26, 1934, a daughter of Ephrem and Rose (Austin) Lapre and came to the United States in 1954. She worked at the Elm Street Nursing Home in Barton for many years. She also owned and operated a restaurant in Orleans and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. She was a founding member of the Orleans Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Mother's Club. She was a Cub Scout Den Leader and a 4-H leader. She was a wonderful grandmother who devoted lots of time making her grandchildren's childhoods very special and full of lifelong memories. On August 20, 1955, she married Maurice Armand Blair, who survives her. She is also survived by her children: Maurice " Bob" Blair Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Orleans, JoAnnPeart of Orleans, Rosemary Norris and her husband, Robert, of Orleans, Patricia Thomas and her husband, Henry, of Orleans, and Bruce Blair and his partner, George Copp, of Troy; by her grandchildren: Yolanda Blair, Joe Blair, David Blair, Daniel Blair, Nathan Peart, Elizabeth Landry, Justin Peart, Ira Martel, Dawn Norris, Fawn Norris, Henry Thomas Jr., and Crystal Thomas; by her great-grandchildren: Ethan Hartley, Jacob Priest, Tyson Horn, Tristan Landry, Riley Blair, Devin Landry, KalebPeart, Ryan Martel, Gary Sheppard Jr., Colton Villeneuve, and MichealaThibeault; and by her brother Phil Lapre and his wife, Geri, of Plymouth, New Hampshire. , 79, died on September 13, 2006, of pneumonia at Maple Lane Nursing and Retirement Homes in Barton where he had been living since September 7, 1999. Mr. Blair was born November 16, 1926, in Newport to the late Oliver and Elsie (Bowering) Blair. He spent time in the Philippines as a member of the U.S. Army during World War II. He began his working career as a lab technician for the H.P. Hood Dairy Company in Newport. The remainder of his career was spent with the Union Twist Drill in Derby Line after the closure of the Hood Dairy Company. He always enjoyed working and keeping busy. He made many friends during his lifetime and enjoyed his time off seeing movies, bowling, and participating in various activities. He is survived by one sister, Helen (Blair) Wright, of Contoocook, New Hampshire; by one brother, George Blair, and his wife, Bernice (Bowman), of Bellevue, Washington; by two nephews, Thomas Wright and his wife, Laurie, of Manchester, New Hampshire, and Bradley Wright of North Andover, Massachusetts; by one niece, Linda (Wright) Porter, and her husband, Ben; and by several grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Per Mr. Blair's request there will be no memorial services. He chose cremation, and his remains will be buried in the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery in Newport.

She worked as a waitress at the Buck & Doe Restaurant in Island Pond for many years. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Island Pond Post No. 80 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Island Pond Post No. 2309. She married Victor Leclerc, who predeceased her on March 21, 1977. She then married Harry Weatherstone on September 19, 1981. He survives her. He enjoyed all types of fishing, gardening, and running his heavy machinery, as he was a man of many talents. He was a very proud and devoted father, who worked hard to provide for his family. His greatest joys in life were his children and fishing. He was born to fish and forced to work. He always opened his home and offered his help for all those who needed it, and he always made it his priority to help his mother and siblings in any way he could. Mason Arthur " Stony" Stone

, 67, of Barton died in Newport on Monday, October 9, 2006, after a lengthy illness with diabetes and heart and vascular problems. Mr. Stone was the beloved husband of Therese M. Genereux. He was born October 22, 1938, in Barton, a son of the late Elwin T. and Alice (Drew) Stone. He was a farmer for some years at Runaway Pond in Glover. He also worked at Tap & Die in Lyndonville, Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut, several construction jobs in the area, for Ralph Paine Jr. of Barton Building Pond & Laborer, J.B. Colton Company in Orleans, and C&C Supermarket in Barton, spending 16 years at each place. He was a Lawn-Boy technician for 30 years, some part time and full time at the end. He was a partner in Stony's Lawn-Boy with his son Elwin. He and his son were true Lawn-Boy dealers and believed in what they sold. He had apartments in Barton and Glover and owned and operated Stony's Getty in Barton with his family, of which he was very proud. He lost his eyesight in 1986 and was legally blind. At that time he moved to his trailer on Route 16 in Barton, where he gained part of his eyesight back and worked on lawn mowers for 20 years. He was a Mason for 35 years and a Shriner. He was a deacon and trustee of the Barton United Church. He was a member of the North Country Swingers square dance club, for which he and his wife were treasurers. He loved dancing, playing marbles with his family and grandchildren, whom he loved very dearly. He always had time for them. He loved flowers, trees and nice looking lawns. He said, " You can't sell equipment with a shabby lawn." He loved to have fun and be the life of a party. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Besides his wife, Therese, he is survived by his daughters Cindy A. Couture and her husband, Mark, of Irasburg and Alice P. Couture and her husband, Peter, of Irasburg; by his sons Arthur M. , 94, a longtime resident of Craftsbury, died Sunday, October 1, 2006, at Epoch Nursing Home in Brewster, Massachusetts. Mr. Jeffers was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, on August 10, 1912, a son of Omer and Hildur (Peterson) Jeffers. He graduated from Maplewood High School in Missouri in 1929. He married Evelyn Stoker in 1935. She died in 1979. He was a member of the United Church of Craftsbury, a member of Meridian Sun Lodge No. 20 of Free and Accepted Masons in Craftsbury for over 50 years, and a former member of the Craftsbury Grange. He had been very active for many years in the Craftsbury Fire Department. He was a member of the Greensboro Kazoo Band. In his time spent in Florida, he played softball in a seniors' league into his seventies. He leaves two daughters, Joan Haberland and her husband, Mark, of Rockport, Massachusetts, and Carol Deacon and her husband, Fred, of South Dennis, Massachusetts; a sister, Doris Betterly, of Holden, Massachusetts; four grandchildren: Mark and William Haberland, Heather Brennan, and Derek Deacon; four great-grandsons: Mathew, Sean and Ethan Brennan and Ryan Haberland; and one nephew, Walter Gutzmann. He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn; by a brother, Robert Jeffers; and by a nephew, Rick Gutzmann. , 84, of Newport died in Newport on Monday, October 2, 2006. Mr. Hanley was born in Lyons Falls, New York, on November 18, 1921, a son of Michael F. and Margaret (Comiskey) Hanley. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II, where he was a radio operator and gunner and flew 26 air combat missions in Italy. He was president of Edward N. Hanley, Incorporated, a distributor of hardwood veneer and plywood, retiring in 1990. He was an avid reader of history and politics. On January 3, 1946, he married Carolyn Talley, who survives him. He is survived by his children: Carolyn Fucile and her husband, Frank, of Monkton, Maryland, Edward N. Hanley Jr. and his wife, Cathy, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Michael F. , 88, of Newport died in Newport on Wednesday, October 4, 2006. Mr. Bathalon was born in North Troy on August 31, 1918, a son of Serguis and Sara (Bedard) Bathalon. On June 7, 1947, he married Jeanne Rondeau, who survives him. He and his wife farmed for many years in Westfield. He also worked at the Kraft Cheese Factory for 19 years. When he and his wife had a chance they did a little traveling, including going to Niagara Falls and a cruise to Alaska for their fiftieth anniversary. He truly enjoyed his farm and family and staying home with his 11 boys.
