, 73, of Newport died peacefully July 2, 2005, at his home with his wife at his side. He was born December 16, 1930, in Newport, a son of Victor and Helen (Gogen) Carter. On August 12, 1950, he married Iona Bullis who survives him. Carter was employed in the shipping department by Butterfield Union Twist Drill in Derby Line for 28 years. Before that he was a self-employed painter. Among his hobbies he enjoyed loving his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed dancing, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, gardening, garage sales and finding all the sales at the local stores. He is survived by his wife, Iona Carter, of Newport, and by the following children: Rosemary Bowen and her husband, Don, of Coventry; Ronnie Carter, of Newport; Patty Pierce and her husband, Jim, of West Charleston; Candy Allard and her fiancZ < caron > , Bill Anthony, of Derby; and Reginald Carter and his friend, Carolyn Stewart, of Newport; and also by Donna Coburn and her fiancZ < caron > , Tony, and her children, Heather Allen and Alyssa Coburn. He is also survived by the following grandchildren: Troy Bowen and his friend, Heather Sheltra; Donnie Bowen and his wife, Erica; Billy and Bobbie Carter; Angel Wright and her friend, Dave Laberge; Amanda Wright and her friend, Jacke Coburn; Hiedie Pierce; Jimmy Pierce; Ashley Allard; Joe and Candice Anthony; Becky Anthony; Patrick Ushmann and Nathan Carter. He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren. Wayne is survived by the following brothers: Frederick Carter and his wife, Ruth, of Newport; Robert Carter and his wife, Natalie, of Newport; Francis Carter and his wife, Shirley, of Newport; Louis Carter and his wife, Lucille, of Newport; and Leonard Carter and his wife, Rita, of St. Anne, Mo. Several nieces and nephews survive him. He was predeceased by a son, Wayne Alfred Carter; a sister, Vivian Judd, and her husband, Leo; and Victor Carter Jr. and his wife, Evelyn; and by a brother, Leonard Carter. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday evening July 5, 2005, at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Memorial Chapel, 37 Lake Road, Newport, (formerly Bay St). (Parking and easy ramped entrance in rear of funeral home.) Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday July 6, 2005, at the United Church of Derby with the Rev. Fred Barker officiating. Private interment in Pine Grove Cemetery. Dorothy 'Dot' B. Newell Ferrier Dorothy

was born in Lowell, Vt., on July 12, 1915. She went to dwell with the Lord on July 1, 2005. She was the only child of Benjamin and Bell (Gilbeault) Pasby, both deceased. Dorothy married Wayne Newell in 1932; they farmed in St. Johnsbury and had seven children. Dot was widowed at a young age and with the help of her mother, Little Gram, she raised her seven children, keeping her family and farm together. She worked hard all her life and was employed at Gilman Paper and Glovers. She later moved to Connecticut and worked at Pratt and Whitney where she met and married her second husband Stanley Ferrier in 1963. The Ferriers eventually moved back to St. Johnsbury and her farm in 1976. She worked at Brightlook and Northeastern Vermont Regional hospitals until she retired. Dot loved to garden both flowers and vegetables. She had a passion for fishing right up until she no longer could continue fishing. She was a member of the Moose Lodge #1779 Auxiliary; she enjoyed their dinners and dancing, listening to the music and dancing a dance or two with her sons. She loved her family and was always there for them. Dot was loved, cherished, and respected by all that knew her. Dorothy is survived by her six children and daughter-in-law: Elaine and Stanley Nichols, of St. Johnsbury; Claire and Martin Parks, of St. Johnsbury; Millard 'Joe' and Cecilia Newell, of Nashua, N.H.; Thayer 'Muss' and Shirley Newell, of St. Johnsbury; Sonja 'Marlene' and John Mayhew, of Vernon, Conn.; Cherrill 'Che' Newell and fiancé , Leann Quapaw, of St. Johnsbury; Carolee Newell, of Springhill, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, and friends too numerous to mention. She was predeceased by her first husband, Wayne, of 14 years; and her second husband, Stan, of 13 years; two granddaughters, and her oldest son, Wayne 'Hank' Newell who passed on last year. Visiting hours will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5. Services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Mr. John Sleeper officiating. Interment will follow the service at the St. Johnsbury Center Cemetery with a lunch following at the Moose Lodge on Route 2 East in St. Johnsbury. , 55, of Vinton, Va., and formerly of Danville, Vt., passed away Saturday, July 2, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Betty Stewart; two daughters, Kathy Gordon and her husband Clayton, Shari Larocque and her husband Jason; one son, Keith Stewart; one stepdaughter, Evett Nolan; one stepson, Eric Favaloro; 11 grandchildren; three sisters, Lynette Carter, Sheila Baker and Diana Prokocimer. , 83, Washington Street, Littleton, N.H., died Saturday, July 2, 2005, at her home surrounded by her children, after a lengthy period of declining health while courageously battling cancer. She was born on Nov. 26, 1921, in Newport, Vt., the daughter of Barney and Carrie (Davio) Villeneuve. After graduating from Hardwick Academy and Lyndon Normal School, she taught in a one room school house in Walden Heights, Vt. In 1943, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy WAVES and was stationed in Milledgeville, Ga., and Washington, D.C., where she administered military requisitions. Following discharge from military service she married George S. Riach, also of Hardwick, on Jan. 17, 1946, at the Anacosia Naval Chapel in Washington, D.C. They resided in Hardwick for a short time prior to relocating to Littleton, N.H., in 1951 to raise their family. She was a promoter for the Central Association of the Miraculous Medal, a past member of the Catholic Daughters of America, a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, a member of the VFW Howard Shawney Post Women's Auxiliary, and a former member of the National Education Association. She was employed for many years by the Littleton School District as a kindergarten teacher retiring in 1984. During her retirement, she enjoyed spending winters in Charlotte Harbor, Fla., with her husband and enjoyed many trips to visit family in Las Vegas. She was devoted to her family and many friends, and especially enjoyed holiday gatherings with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed solving daily crossword puzzles and corresponding with family and friends through e-mail. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years on May 15, 2005, and by two brothers and four sisters. She leaves two sons, Kent S. Riach of North Haverhill, N.H., and Brent J. and Susan Riach of Salem, N.H.; a daughter, Candence and Darrell Beard, Merrimack, N.H.; a brother, Clifford Villeneuve, of Landaff, N.H.; a sister, Mildred Jangel, of Claremont, N.H.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces and nephews. There are no visiting hours. Friends are invited to attend the committal and burial service on Friday, July 8, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Glenwood Cemetery in Littleton. , 80, Dusty Road, died suddenly Sunday, July 3, 2005, at the Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield, N.H. He was born May 6, 1925, in Newport Center, Vt., the son of Olin T. and Lila (Bates) Kilby. He graduated from Derby Academy, Derby, Vt., Class of 1944. On May 8, 1944, he married MaryJean Rediker. They lived in Island Pond, Newport and Newport Center, Vt., prior to moving to Whitefield, N.H., where they resided for more than 40 years. During the early years, John worked at various farms doing different jobs and served in the U.S. Army during WW II as a Private First Class. For 50 years he worked as a plumber for various plumbing companies and later became self employed as a master plumber. He was an ordained minister for more than 45 years and pastored at churches in Magog and Beebe, Quebec, Newport and White River, Vt., and Whitefield and Littleton, N.H. He also served many years as president of the White River Campmeeting Association and served on the board of directors of Beebe Campmeeting Association. He was pre-deceased by his wife of over 60 years, MaryJean, on April 9, 2005. He was also pre-deceased by a brother, Russell Kilby, and sisters Persis, Carrie, Elida, and Flora. He is survived by five sons, John H. Kilby, Newport Center, Vt., Robert O. Kilby, Loudon, N.H., Charles G. Kilby, Newport Center, Douglas D. Kilby, Lancaster, N.H., Michael C. Kilby, Littleton, N.H.; five daughters, Linda Jean Kilby, Redwood City, Calif., Betty A. Schendorf, Newport Center, Patricia E. Kelsey, Sharon, Conn., Dorothy M. Turcotte, Heinsburg, Vt., Alice H. Armstrong, South Burlington, Vt.; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, George J. Kilby and his wife Irene, Chino Valley, Ariz., and Olin B. Kilby , Lebanon, N.H.; two sisters in-law, Rose and Norman Hopgood, Ontario, Canada, and Beulah Rediker Purkiser of Dowling Park, Fla. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, July 7, 1 p.m., at the Advent Christian Church, 3 School St., Whitefield. , 94, of The Pines, Lyndonville, Vt., formerly of King Street, Nashua, N.H., died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, in Lyndonville. Born Feb. 13, 1911, in St. Johnsbury, Vt., the daughter of the late Edmond and Exilia (Paro) Goyet. She was educated in the schools systems of St. Johnsbury and Lyndonville. She was a resident of Nashua, N.H., and Lyndonville, Vt., for many years. She was a dedicated homemaker and mother. Mrs. Brooks was predeceased by her husband, Adelard Brooks, who died in 1976 and her son, Roland Brooks, who died in 2002. Surviving family members include her brother, Robert Goyet and his wife Edith of St. Johnsbury; sister, Roseanna Stetson of St. Johnsbury and her son Alan Stetson of St. Johnsbury; three grandchildren, Robert Brooks, John Brooks and Kathleen Brooks; sisters-in-law, Edna Goyette of St. Johnsbury and Althea Patoine of Lyndonville; brothers-in-law, Ronald Brooks and his wife Alice of West Palm Beach, Fla., Raymond Brooks and his wife Arlene of Belmont, Mass., and Regis Brooks and his wife Kathleen of Worcester, Mass.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The St. Laurent Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. , 85, of Main Street, Lancaster, N.H., died Tuesday afternoon, July 5, 2005, at Country Village Health Care Center, Lancaster. Mildred was born in Lancaster, March 24, 1920, the daughter of Elbridge and Mary I. (Whiting) Green. She moved to Portland, Maine, in 1954, where she worked for B & M Baked Beans until retirement. In 1982 she returned to Lancaster, working for a time at the Wash Tub Laundromat. She has been a resident of the McKee Inn since 2000. She enjoyed reading, the outdoors, and fishing. She also enjoyed writing, and at one time wrote for the White Mountain Gazette. She was a past member of the Lancaster Grange and the Business and Professional Women. Surviving family members include two daughters, Mary L. Sanzo, and Corrine E. MacDonald, both of Lancaster; a son, Russell E. Scott Sr., also of Lancaster; a sister, Barbara Chubuck of Brunswick, Maine; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Linwood "Joe" Green; and a sister, Ruth Phillips. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, July 7, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. The funeral will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Merton Rymph, interim pastor of Lancaster Congregational United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will follow in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.

, 75, of Orleans, Vt., passed away in Newport, Vt., Wednesday, July 6, 2005. He was born in St. Jean de Matha, Province of Quebec, Aug. 9, 1929, the son of Leopold and Edouilda (St. George) Bonin. In 1957 Germain married the former Marielle Leblanc, who survives him. He is also survived by his children, Louise Bolduc and her husband David of Orleans, Carmen Comeau and her husband Denis of Newport and Marcel Bonin and his wife Michele of Orleans; his grandchildren, Rance and Celeste Bolduc, Danielle and Landon Comeau, and Schyler and Nicholas Bonin; and by his twin sister, Germaine Brault of Newport.
