, 63, of West Stewartstown, N.H., formerly of Bloomfield, Vt., passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at the Coos County Nursing Hospital. Mr. LaCasse was born Nov. 4, 1941, in North Stratford, N.H., son of the late Armand C. and Antoinette G. (Roby) LaCasse. Mr. LaCasse served proudly in the United States Army, enlisting in 1959 and serving during the Panama Canal crisis. He transferred to Germany where he was honorably discharged in 1965. After returning to the North Country, he worked for Rainville & Ladd Store as a meat cutter and also for Washburn Lumber for several years. He was a member of the Northland American Legion, Post #47, of Canaan, Vt., and Nulhegan V.F.W., Post #5243, of North Stratford. Mr. LaCasse is survived by four brothers, Raymond LaCasse Sr. of Sterling, Ky., Freeman "Buddy" LaCasse and his wife Odella of Cherokee Village, Ark., Donald LaCasse and his companion Donna Gould of Colebrook, N.H., and Robert LaCasse and his wife Jackie of Hooksett, N.H.; three sisters, Virginia Johnson and her husband Ronald of Nashua, N.H., Dianne Worth and her husband David of Island Pond, Vt., and Susan Lepine and her husband Daniel of Beecher Falls, Vt.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, July 16, at 11 a.m. at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Canaan, Vt., with the Rev. Craig Cheney as celebrant. An interment service will be held at St. Brendan's Catholic Cemetery in Colebrook with military honors to follow. , 80, of Westborough, Mass., died Thursday, June 30, 2005, at the Westborough Health Care Center. He was the husband of Beatrice L. (McLeod) Ladner. Born in Somerville, Mass., he was the son of the late Arthur and Emily (Martin) Ladner. He was educated in Cambridge schools and was a graduate of Rindge Tech. High School. He was also a graduate of Northeastern University, earning a degree in chemical engineering and business. During World War II and the Korean conflict he served with the U.S. Navy, receiving a citation from Admiral Nimitz while serving on the submarine USS Sea Devil in World War II. Mr. Ladner was employed as a lubrication engineer and salesman for Texaco, where he was named a member of the Vice President's Club for leading salesman. He worked out of the main office in Chestnut Hill for 22 years, retiring in 1980. Following his retirement he worked as a sales engineer for CK Smith and Maraine Oil, both in Worcester. He was a life member and past president of the Submarine Veterans of World War II, a life member of the VFW, a former member of the American Legion, a member of the Simon W. Robinson Lodge in Lexington and was affiliated with the Siloam Lodge in Westborough and a member of the Evangelical Congregational Church in Westborough. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Ronald H. of Denton, Texas, Gary J. of Hadley and Scott E. of Shrewsbury; three daughters, Lois A. Hogan of Shrewsbury, Linda S. Scricco of Sutton and Laurie L. Sheridan of Westborough; one sister, Helen Nagle of New Hampshire; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Cal Ladner. His funeral service will be held Sunday, July 3 at 1 p.m. in the Evangelical Congregational Church, West Main Street, Westborough. , age 39, a lifelong St. Johnsbury resident, passed away Monday, June 27, 2005, at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. The daughter of the late Francis J. and Charlene M. (Powers) Couture, she was born March 24, 1966, in St. Johnsbury. She was a graduate of Lyndon Institute and married Dennis J. Hutchin. She is survived by her husband and three children. A memorial service will be held at the Pearsons Funeral Home, located at 70 Church St. in Lyndonville. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

, of St. Johnsbury, was taken to heaven Thursday, June 30, 2005, at the age of 86. He had resided at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab Center since April 27, 2005. Mr. Villeneuve was born in Coventry, Vt. on Aug. 8, 1918 to Phillippe and Cecile (Anger) Villeneuve. Cy moved to St. Johnsbury with his family when he was a young boy. On Sept. 27, 1940 he married Beatrice Paradis at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Johnsbury and they lived most their married life in St. Johnsbury. Cy was a "jack of all trades." He worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. as a serviceman traveling throughout the area for 29 years; he retired from Sears in October 1983. After retirement Cy kept busy with home projects and helping others when they called upon him. In 1985 the Villeneuves became "snowbirds" and spent their winter months in Bushnell, Fla. The rest of the months were spent in St. Johnsbury and at their camp at Miles Pond where Cy enjoyed fishing, boating, water skiing, and trying to relax. Cy was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church and the Loyal Order of Moose No. 1779. Survivors include his wife Beatrice of St. Johnsbury (233 St. Mary St. 05819); his son and daughter-in-law Donald and Sharon Villeneuve of St. Albans, son and daughter-in-law Ronald and Tawnna of Enfield N.H., daughter and son-in-law Diane and Chuck Rousseau of Fruitland Park, Fla., son Raymond of Yalesville, Conn.; grandchildren David, Craig, Dale, Scott and Samantha Villeneuve; three great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters; his brother and sister-in-law William and Beverly Villeneuve and brother Philip Villeneuve all of St. Johnsbury, sister Jeanne McKenzie of Manchester, N.H.; several sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews. His brothers Lawrence and Robert, and his sisters Mary Vellener, Rose Cady, and Fern Perron predeceased Cy. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 4 at 11 a.m. at the Sayles Funeral Home. Visiting hours will precede the service beginning at 10 a.m. to the start of the service. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Please omit flowers. , 84, formerly of Landaff, N.H., passed away Friday evening, July 1, 2005, at the Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill, N.H., surrounded by her family. Velma was born a daughter to Loren and Margaret (Dimick) Welch on November 1, 1921, in Peacham, Vt. Velma was a very loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading and just spending time with her cat, Shadow. She was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed. Surviving family members include her son, Percy Wharem and his wife, Rose, of Littleton, N.H.; her daughter, Patricia Willey and her husband, Harry, of Whitefield, N.H.; three brothers, John Welch and his wife, Doris, of Madison, Ala.; William Welch and his wife, Pat, of Surprise, Ariz.; and Leslie Welch of Sutton, N.H.; two sisters, Segrid Finley and her husband, Don, of Marlboro, N.H.; and Rachel Houston and her husband, Sam, of Lisbon, N.H.; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Her parents, Loren and Margaret Welch, her husband, Robert Luxford, a sister, Norma Lackey, and a granddaughter, Sonya Willey predeceased her. A Celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, July 5 at 10 a.m. at the Pillsbury Funeral Home, Lisbon Chapel, 77 South Main St., Lisbon, N.H., with Rev. Lyn O. Winter officiating, burial will follow in the Grove Hill Cemetery.

, age 90, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2005, at the Littleton Regional Hospital. Grayce was born a daughter to Michael D. and Florence (Beaudet) Davidson, on June 19, 1915, in Pomfret, Vt. She attended elementary school in Keene, N.H., and High School in Keene, N.H., and Littleton, graduating from Littleton High School. Grayce spent much of her time as a child with her grandmother in Littleton. She married John E. (Jack) Cyr, on February 24, 1941, and was employed by MacLeod's Department Store for many years. Grayce was an officer of Cyr Heating & Plumbing, Inc., a long-time member and past-President of the Women's Auxiliary of the Littleton Hospital, a member of the Friday Club, Treasurer and Chairwoman of the Littleton Hospital, a member of the Rotary Anns, President of the N.H. Association of Heating & Plumbing & Cooling Contractor Association Women's Auxiliary, and was active in the Special Project for St. Rose of Lima Church. Grayce was a devoted wife, mother, "Nana", and great-grandmother. Surviving family members include six children, Mary Joanne Desclos of Seattle, Wash.; Patricia Herrmann of Wolfeboro, NH; The Honorable J. Peter Cyr of Littleton, N.H.; Catherine Latvis of Yarmouth, Maine; Helen Cyr of Seattle, Wash.; and Adolphe Cyr of Golden, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Jonathan, Kathryn and Danika Desclos; Jackie Finneron, Michelle Dennehy, Peter Latvis, Andrea Poses, and Taylor A. Cyr; seven great-grandchildren, two sisters, Thelma Green of Littleton, N.H.; Mary Marsh of Alexandria, Va.; and one brother, Gerald Davidson of Beverly Hills, Fla. In 1971 her husband, Jack, predeceased her as well as a brother, Edward, and a grandson, David Desclos in 2004. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, July 5 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Pillsbury Funeral Home, 101 Union St., Littleton, N.H. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. John Fleming as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Rose Cemetery.
