Mr. Corrigan was born in Gorham, N.H., on Feb. 13, 1924, the son of Harry E. and Ernestine (Fraser) Corrigan. He was raised in Cascade and Gorham along with five brothers and four sisters and attended St. Benedicts Catholic School (Cascade) and Gorham Schools. In his teens he worked at the Halfway House on Mount Washington and also joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and was stationed at the C.C.C.'s Peabody Station, assisting in the construction of the present-day Dolley Copp Campground and pavilion. At the age of 17, he was hired on as one of the original crew of the Portland Pipeline Company and helped lay the crude oil pipeline from Portland, Maine, to Montreal, Que. He remained with the pipeline, at their pumping stations in Shelburne and Lancaster, for 25 years. In 1965, Sears Roebuck and Company hired him to operate their newly opened Catalog Sales store in Lancaster. He owned and operated the store for 24 years, until his retirement in 1989. In 1943, he joined the U.S. Navy and served proudly in the Pacific Theatre in World War II aboard the USS Braine-D.D. 630, as machinist mate-second class, a member of Admiral Arleigh Burke's "Little Beaver Squadron." The board of commissioners also oversee the county's many unincorporated towns. A lifelong Republican, he has worked hard for the party's goals and causes. His participation, through the years, has helped maintain party unity and strengthened Republicanism in Coos County and the entire state of New Hampshire. Tom was an avid outdoorsman and loved the North Country. Fishing, hunting and camping with is children and grandchildren were among his favorite pastimes. Collecting books on local history is another interest, particularly about logging and nature. A traditionalist, he enjoyed passing on tell-tale facts, stories and anecdotes of Northern New Hampshire's storied past and his own upbringing in this area. He was also an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, rarely missing a game. Tom was a communicant of All Saints Church, Lancaster. He was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars John W. Weeks Post 3041 of Lancaster, and the American Legion Post 82 of Gorham.
