, 91, of South Burlington, Vt., passed away April 5, 2005, at Fletcher Allen Hospital after a short illness. Mary was born Dec. 1, 1913, in Berlin N.H., the daughter of Alex and Yvonne (St. Hilaire) Thibault. She was a resident of Lancaster for over 50 years after her marriage to Bradley O. White of Lancaster. She moved to Vermont in 1990 to be near her children. Mary was known by her friends for her skill in many crafts and she continued to do counted cross stitch up to her illness. She was a Communicant of All Saints Parish and member of the Daughters of Isabella. Having worked in many businesses in town, she was also a member of the Business and Professional Women. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Sandra White of Hinesburg Vt.; her daughter, Patricia White of Colchester Vt.; a brother, Roland Thibault of Berlin, N.H.; a sister, Gabrielle Twitchell of Hill, N.H.; her grandson, Lt. Col. Mark White of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a granddaughter, Cynthia Blumen of Hinesburg, Vt.; four great-grandchildren, Kristin Blumen, Samantha White, Nicholas Blumen, and Ryan White; and five nieces and nephews. A visiting hour will be held Friday morning, April 8, from 9:30-10:30 a.m., at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m., at All Saints Church, Lancaster. The Rev. Raymond Ball, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date in the Calvary Cemetery, Lancaster. , 80, of Newport, passed away in Newport on Wednesday, April 6, 2005. He was born in Burlington on Dec. 12, 1924, the son of Francis and Myrtie (Patrick) LaBounty. Kenneth worked as a section man for CP Railroad from 1952 until 1990. He was also the sexton for St. Mary's cemetery for 26 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Cemetery Association, Community National Bank Community Circle and the Railroad Retirement Association. Ken enjoyed playing cards, dancing and music, cooking for family gatherings, and spending time with his entire family. He was also an avid Red Sox fan. On Oct. 1, 1945, he married Pauline Blay, who predeceased him on April 21, 1991. He then married Louise Abbott, who predeceased him on Jan. 28, 1997. He is survived by his children, Barbara Cain and her husband Michael of Charleston, N.H., James LaBounty and his wife Linda of Derby Line, Gloria Pinkerton and her husband James of Manchester, Mary Petit and her husband Gerard of Coventry, Michael LaBounty and his special friend Arlean Hillis of Newport, Linda Pion and her husband Armand of Troy, Joanne White and her husband Jerry of Derby, Dennis LaBounty and his wife Mary of Garrattesville, N.Y., Brian LaBounty of Guilford, and Richard LaBounty of Bingham, Maine; his siblings, Robert of Meriden, Conn., Richard of Jacksonville, Fla., Marian Griffin of Barton, Pauline Shafer of Milton, Ky., Beverly LaBounty of Newport, Rachel Daigle of Granville, N.Y., and Raymond of Danville; 32 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. of St. Johnsbury died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center where she had resided for the past four years. She was born Aug. 12, 1910, the daughter of Achille and Evangeline Couture. She was well-known in the area as a cake decorator. A devout Catholic, Rita was a woman of exemplary faith and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in St. Johnsbury. Her greatest passion and joy was her family. She taught by example and was a wonderful role model for how to live life to the fullest. Survivors include her four children, Albert Dunn of St. Johnsbury, Marie Holden of Fort Johnson, N.Y., Sr. Suzanne Dunn of Carpinteria, Calif., and Jeannette Keenan and her husband Kerry of St. Johnsbury. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Scott and Geeta Holden of Huntingtown, Md., and their children, Christopher, Sean and Ritamarie; Sharon Piper of Victor, N.Y., and her children, Kaitlyn, Michael and Elisabeth; Susan and Chris Hilly of Fort Johnson, N.Y; Sandy and Andy Rosenberg of New York City and their children, Chelsea, Haley and Megan; Michael and Melanie Keenan of Wasilla, Alaska, and their children, Ethan, Emily and Noah; Ken Keenan of South Pole, Antarctica; and Mimi and Shawn McCaffrey of Lyndonville and their children Shea and Kaylee Rita. Other survivors include her very special nieces and nephews, Laurette and Raymond LaChance, Archie and Debbie Prevost, Gerry and Rita Prevost, Rita and Norman Airoldi, Madeleine and Ron Ducham, George and Linda Racicot, Charles and Joan Racicot, Ray Racicot and Ken Dunn; many equally special great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; and all the wonderful friends she had made at the Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was predeceased by her husband, Marcel, in 1949; her parents; a sister and her husband, Lucienne and Tom Prevost; a brother, Pete Couture; a sister and her husband, Reinette and Herve Racicot; her son-in-law, Scott Holden; and a nephew, Paul Racicot. Visiting hours will be at Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer St., St. Johnsbury, Friday, April 8, from 6-8 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 7. The funeral will be Saturday, April 9, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in St. Johnsbury with a Mass of Christian burial being celebrated by the Rev. Pat Forman. Burial will be later in the spring. , 80, of West Main Street, passed away at his home in Lunenburg where he had lived the last two decades of his life. Mr. Brink was born in Rutland, Vt., on Aug. 26, 1924, the son of Arthur and Ona Mabel (Noyes) Brink. Richard grew up and attended schools in Rutland. He worked as a cook in local hotels and restaurants prior to a long employment with and retirement from Fairbanks Scales in St. Johnsbury. He was predeceased in 1991 by his beloved wife, Doris Harris Lund, whom he married on June 4, 1950. They lived at Miles Pond for many years before moving to Lunenburg. A member of the Concord Community Church in Concord, Vt., Richard was a devout Christian who truly knew the meaning of judge not, forgive one another and honor thy neighbor. Exodus, Chapter 20: Now he is at peace with his Lord. Surviving him are his daughter, Rachel and her husband Hollis Anderson of Tatum, Texas; a special granddaughter, Joyce and her husband Bud Marcotte of Lyndonville, Vt.; a sister, Ramona and her husband Gil Gilbert of Oregon; his wife's children, Wayne and his wife Betty Lund of Concord, Vt., and Ruby Priest of St. Johnsbury, Vt.; many nieces and nephews; and his wonderful friends and neighbors. Richard shared his joy and love for his 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren with everyone who would listen. A trip to visit his daughter's family in Texas last October was his celebrated opportunity to meet his namesake, great-great-grandson Richard Daylon Hyde. He was also predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Joseph and Fred; a sister, Ruth Dikeman; and a great-grandson, T.J. Pepper. There are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at the Concord Cemetery at a later date. of Lisbon, N.H., formerly of Chalfont, Pa., died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, N.H. He was 88. He was the husband of the late Evelyn (Kunz) Hamilton. Born in Eureka on Dec. 23, 1916, he was a son of the late Charles and Edith (Stover) Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton was a former police chief for the Borough of Chalfont from 1961 to 1980. He was a member of Pleasantville United Church of Christ. He was also a member of Bucks County Police Chief Association, the Knight of the Golden Eagle, Castle 173, a member of the Patriotic Order Son of America, Local Camp 600, a life member of Chalfont Chemical Fire Engine Co. 1 and the Rescue Squad. Bill is survived by his daughter, Dottie Hamilton of Lisbon; and his brother, George Hamilton of Jacksonville, Fla. He was preceded in death by his son, James R. Hamilton. , of Danville, died Thursday, April 7, 2005, at NVRH at the age of 92. He was born in St. Johnsbury on Oct. 21, 1912. His mother, Annie (Gallup) Creaser, died during childbirth. He was raised in Victory by a dear friend of Annie's, Lydia Chandler, with the help of Lydia's mother, Florence. The Chandler family became his family. They moved to Boston when Paul was 11 years old. He returned to St. Johnsbury in 1942. His first wife, Eleanor (Ring) Creaser, passed away Aug. 8, 1977, after a marriage of 42 years. He married Pauline (Cassidy) Lenton in 1986; this past Tuesday, April 5, was their 19th wedding anniversary. Paul worked for Ralston Purina for 25 years up until the closing of the St. Johnsbury plant in 1974. He attended North Congregational Church and was active in church affairs. He enjoyed hunting camp out in Gallup Mills; the camp was always more important than the hunting. He was a member of Passumpsic Lodge No. 27, F & AM and the Jay Ville Balsams snowmobile club. He snowmobiled up until age 90. Known as "Pop" to his family, he is survived by his wife Pauline of Danville (544 Pumpkin Hill Road, 05828); his son, Robert and his wife Kathleen of St. Johnsbury (34 Skyview Terrace, 05819); two granddaughters and two great-grandsons, Beth Bryar and her husband Greg and their son Alec of Littleton, N.H., and Holly McDuffee and her husband Brian and their son Finn of Alexandria, Va.; two stepsons and their families, William A. Cassidy and his wife Marjorie of Groton, and Michael Jay Cassidy of Wells River. He leaves a half-brother, Charles, living in Florida, and was predeceased by his other half-brother, Lester. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 10, at 2 p.m. at the North Congregational Church with the pastor, the Rev. Jay Sprout, officiating. Burial will be in May at the Grove Cemetery in East St. Johnsbury. There will be no visiting hours. Please omit flowers. Roland G. "Giz" Grenier

of St. Johnsbury passed away Thursday, April 7, 2005 at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab Center with his family by his side. Giz fought the good fight and showed his family how to face illness with dignity and courage. He was born in St. Johnsbury on Oct. 27, 1924 and was the son of Arthur and Ruth (Meader) Grenier. He was an Army veteran of WWII and received a 100 percent disability from the service. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 58. Roland worked at Purina for 24 years until the plant's closing in 1974. He was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church. He was a member of BPOE No. 1343; there he enjoyed being with friends and maybe ripping a ticket or two. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing and skiing, and golfing he even won the Calderwood Cup one year with his son Denny. He is survived by his loving wife Hilda (Handy) Grenier (58 Pleasant St., 05819) whom he married 55 years ago this coming April 13 and a family of five children: Roland "Guy" Grenier Jr. and Charlotte Bedor of Waterford (2153 Hale Road, 05819), David Gabriel Grenier and his wife Sonya of San Diego CA (7543 Raven Ridge Road, 92126), Dennis Paul Grenier and his wife Joan of San Diego CA (7065 Lipmann St., 92122), Mark Anthony Grenier and his wife Sandy of St. Johnsbury (93 Mt. of St. Johnsbury passed away Thursday, April 7, 2005, at NVRH at the age of 96. She was born in St. Johnsbury on Nov. 10, 1908, the daughter of Horace and Alberta (Adams) Goss. She graduated from St. Johnsbury, class of 1926. Her husband George, passed away Jan. 3, 1990. Together they shared a love of the outdoors and fly-fishing. Dot was a vibrant person and lent much of her energy to the South Congregational Church. There she was a past Sunday school superintendent, was very active in the Searchlight Fellowship, and a past deaconess. She was a former Cub Scout den mother, Girl Scout leader, and a lifelong member of the Order of Eastern Star. Dot was an assistant to Lyndol Scott, a local broker for several Wall Street investment-banking houses. Years ago she worked as a bookkeeper at CH Goss Co. She is survived by one son, Lee Hackett of Brookfield, Wis. (17787 Nassau Dr., 53045); one daughter, Linda Martin and her husband Bob of Howe, Okla. (P.O. Box 182, 74940); three grandsons: Jeff Martin of Springdale, Ark., Steve Martin and his wife Debbie of Bentonville Ark., James Martin and his wife Vallerie of Heavener, Okla.; great-grandchildren Carl Martin, Eric Martin, Katlyn Fields, Emily Martin, Jacob Martin and Andrew Martin; brother in-law, his wife, and family: Bob and Lois Hackett of Rutland. passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 6 2005, at Littleton Regional Hospital. He was born in Alpena, Mich., July 5, 1918, the son of Fred R. Trelfa and Mable C. (Hagen) Trelfa. Richard graduated from Alpena High School Class of 1936, and the University of Michigan in 1940. He was a member of numerous technical societies, including founding member and fellow of ASQ and a TAPPI Fellow. He was active in state of New Hampshire and local politics for many years. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; his three sons, Tom Trelfa of Minnesota, Jeffrey Trelfa of Michigan and Michael Trelfa of New York; his sister Mable Brundage of Florida; his stepdaughter Michelle Moran and stepson Robert Arbuckle of England. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Barbara. Richard will be greatly missed by his surviving extended family and many friends, both local and around the world. A celebration service for Richard's life will be held at the convenience of the family. Richard donated his body to the Dartmouth Medical School.

, 22, of Concord, Vt., died unexpectedly April 9, 2005, at his home in Concord. He was born Aug. 7, 1982, in New York City, a son of Catherine (Cichocki) Reinstein and the late Robert G. Reinstein. He moved here with his family in 1996 from East Northport, Long Island, N.Y. He graduated from North Country Union High School in the Class of 2000. Rob was a resident of Mountain View Home in Concord, Vt., where he will be missed by the residents and caregivers. He held membership with the Knights of Columbus Council 7763 of Orleans. Among his hobbies, he enjoyed snowboarding, skateboarding, playing with video games, listening to music and playing the mandolin he'd recently learned. Rob was also a junior black belt in karate when he was in New York. He is survived by his mother, Catherine Reinstein of Barton; a brother, James Reinstein of Barton; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father in May 1998. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, Elm Street, Barton. , age 95, a Lyndonville resident, passed away Monday, April 11, 2005, at the Pines Health and Rehabilitation. Born April 6, 1910, in the Texas section of Concord, Vt., she was the daughter of Perley and Luva (Vance) Perkins. She attended a one-room schoolhouse at Ralston Corner, worked at the Gilman Paper Mill and lived in the area until moving to Connecticut in the 1940s. She worked many years as a nurse's aid at the New Britain General Hospital in New Britain, Conn. Fannie married Leon Morse on Oct. 30, 1946. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed flowers, crocheting, knitting and rug making. She returned to the area in 1985. Fannie is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Leon Morse of Lyndonville; a son, Brian Morse and his wife Margaret of Sheffield; a sister, Verna Carlson of Florida; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Pearsons Funeral Home, located at 70 Church St., Lyndonville. A funeral service will follow on Thursday at 10 a.m., also at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Rev. Ralph S. Tobyne

, 85, passed away April 11, 2005, at his residence on Stebbins Hill Road, Lancaster. The Rev. Tobyne was born in West Thornton, N.H., on March 22, 1920, the son of Raymond and Nettie (Downing) Tobyne. When Ralph was 8 years old, his family moved to Lunenburg, Vt. In 1938 he graduated from Lancaster Academy, where he played on the hockey team. On Dec. 7, 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during World War II in the Philippines and the South Pacific Theatre. He was honorably discharged in January 1946. That same year, he married Pauline Blodgett of Stratford Hollow. They lived in Lunenburg for six years and later relocated to Massachusetts, where the family lived for 20 years. While there he was foreman at Wm. E. Wright and Sons, West Warren, Mass. Returning to Vermont, he attended the Bible Institute of New England for three years. He then became pastor of the Brownington Center Church for 20 years, where he founded and enjoyed an active youth group. He took the group on many trips throughout the south on work projects for Youth Group Work Camp Ministries. He also enjoyed his role as a school bus driver. Other ministry work included the Maple Lane Nursing Home, Barton, Vt., and Canterbury Retirement Home in St. Johnsbury. His special interests included skating, skiing, painting and "puttering" on projects outdoors. Surviving family members include his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Shelia Tobyne of Lancaster; two sisters, Rachel Hurkett of Plainville, Mass., and Linda Timson of Lunenburg; a brother, Raymond Tobyne of Lunenburg; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Ralph was predeceased by his wife Pauline on March 29, 2004. He was also predeceased by his parents; a sister, Rebecca; and his stepmother, Bertha Tobyne. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday evening, April 12, from 6-9 p.m., at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Jefferson Christian Church. The Rev. Dean A. Stiles, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Erastus Blodgett lot in Center Cemetery, Stratford.
