, 78, of North Conway, N.H., passed away on Feb. 18, 2005, at The Memorial Hospital in North Conway. Reginald was born a son to Ray J. and Ina (Crawford) Howe on March 5, 1927, in Woodsville, N.H. He attended school in Woodsville and served in the U.S. Army. Reginald was a supervisor for the New Hampshire Department of Transportation for 31 years, retiring in 1984. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. Reginald enjoyed spending time with this family, and was a great family man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking, building lawn ornaments, clocks and lamps. Surviving family members include his wife, Eunice (Cooper) Howe of North Conway, N.H.; three sons, Arthur Howe of Windsor Locks, Conn., Robert Howe of Enfield, N.H., and Reginald Howe Jr. of Conway, N.H.; one brother, Charles Howe of Ossipee, N.H.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. One brother and one sister predeceased Reginald. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, Feb. 21, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Pillsbury Funeral Home, 101 Union Street, Littleton, N.H. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Stephen E. Bascom Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.
Fred Clark Priest

, 50, died early Wednesday morning, Feb. 16, 2005, at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in St. Johnsbury, Nov. 6, 1954, the son of Clarence and Ruby (Lund) Priest, who survive him in St. Johnsbury. A 1972 graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy, Fred went on to be a vocational teacher at the Academy specializing in truck and diesel. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, a coach of St. Johnsbury Baseball and Softball, worked at the concession stand and was a member of the "famous" St. Johnsbury Center Baseball Team. His passion and skill for auto racing will long be remembered by the area fans and especially his fellow drivers. He was track champion several times at Groveton, N.H. Fred loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and his family. He was a mentor and friend and a great role model for so many. He was a good man, who was always there for you, as shown by his relationship to foster children and Academy students. On Oct. 13, 1973, he married Debra (Winot) Priest, who survives him in St. Johnsbury. Besides his parents, he leaves two sons, Michael and his wife Carrie of St. Johnsbury, and Hon Lo of California; and a daughter, Lydia and her husband Jeffrey Norway of McGuire AFB, N.J.; a brother, Clarence his and wife Carol Priest Jr. of Waterford; a sister, Penny Priest of Newburgh, N.C.; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Other survivors include his mother-in-law, Doris Winot; sisters-in-law, Sallie and her husband Wayne Lewis, Bobbi and her husband Kendrick Utley, Darcie and her husband David Brill, and Linda Winot. He was predeceased by his sister, Deborah Coons; a brother-in-law, Bruce Winot; and his father-in-law, Theodore Winot. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, Monday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m., with Father Patrick Forman, celebrant. Spring burial will be in Grove Cemetery, East St. Johnsbury, Vt. , 85, of Whitefield, N.H., passed away at the Morrison Nursing Home on Feb. 16, 2005. Marcelle was born a daughter to Anastase and Agnes (Lefrebre) Beaudry on Feb. 10, 1920, in Cheshire, Conn. She attended local Waterbury schools. She married John J. Alenckis in 1943, who predeceased her in 1971. In 1978 Marcelle married Michael Gondola and they moved to Whitefield, N.H., in 1985. Michael predeceased her in 1993. Marcelle is survived by two sons, Raymond J. Alenckis and his wife Michelle of Waterbury, Conn., and Edward R. Alenckis of Whitefield, N.H.; two grandchildren, Raymond J. Alenckis Jr. and his wife, Barbara, and Lori Alenckis of Waterbury, Conn.; four great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Gerard Beaudry, and one sister, Paulette Mango, both of Waterbury, Conn. A graveside service will be held in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterbury, Conn., at a later date.

, 82, died peacefully at home, Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005. His wife, Mary, was by his side, and the animals he loved were there also. Julius was a man who loved the outdoors whether he was fishing or hunting or just taking walks in the woods to enjoy nature. He was born Feb. 20, 1923, in Hartford, Conn., the son of Roland and Dancy Canns. He had many accomplishments in his life; he was a Marine volunteer in World War II serving in the Pacific and was discharged as a gunnery sergeant. He attended many schools and had a certificate of completion from NYU. He was a graduate of Delehanty Institute of Radio and Television. And at age 44 he got a law degree from LaSalle Extension University. For 20 years he owned and operated Jules TV Sales. Julius had served Caledonia County as a Republican state senator since 1993. He had been a Republican town chairman, served four years as a St. Johnsbury Selectman, and had been a justice of the peace and a grand juror for the town. He was a member of the Moose Club; the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; past director, Vermont Sportsmen Clubs; legislative officer DAV, American Legion; past commander, American Legion Post 58; past commander, VFW Post 793; past state commander, VFW State of Vermont; life member, Disabled Veterans Post 9; legislative officer, State VFW; past director, Lions Club; past president, Northeast Taxpayers Association; past director, Northeast Kingdom Skeet Club; past director, Caledonia Home Health Care; and past deputy sheriff. He is survived by his wife, Mary Canns of St. Johnsbury; son Ronald Canns of Arizona, son Gary Canns and daughter Sharon Canns, both of New York City, N.Y.; two grandchildren, stepchildren and stepgrandchildren. He was a man of many friends. Friends are invited to meet the family at the Union Baptist Church, tonight, Feb. 23, from 5-8 p.m. Burial will be at the VT Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph, Vt. on Friday, May 20, at 11 a.m. with full military honors. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at the Union Baptist Church, Route 5 south, with Pastor Paul Powers officiating. Julius was not one for frilly things. , formerly of Walden Hill Road in Danville, passed away late Wednesday evening, Feb. 23, 2005, at a nursing facility in Kingston, Mass. She was 83. She was born in Barre on May 28, 1921, the daughter of Alfredo and Aurelia (Vanetti) Cristofoletti. She graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre in 1939 and married Milton E. Ailes Sept. 27, 1941; he predeceased her on Aug. 15, 1995. The Ailes were former residents of Canaan where Milton worked as a customs officer. They treasured their summers spent at their camp on Joe\'s Pond in West Danville and formed many friendships there. She was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Danville. She is survived by her daughter, Laurie Maguire and her husband Joseph of Pembroke Mass. (22 Pilgrim Road 02359); three grandchildren, Jaime, Joseph and Haley; one brother, Paul Cristofoletti and his wife Rita of Florida; one sister, Gloria Stone and her husband Marshall of Barre; and nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m., at the Queen of Peace Church in Danville. Burial will be in May at the Danville Green Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Sunday afternoon from 2-4 p.m., at the funeral home. Angie suffered from Alzheimer\'s since the death of her husband in 1995. , of Sutton, Vt., died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Cambridge, Mass., on April 9, 1944, the son of James and Mary Doyle. He attended Malden Catholic High School and received degrees in literature from Providence College, Boston College and Harvard University. He taught for a number of years at Fordham University in the Bronx, N.Y., and in 1980 began teaching at Lyndon State College where he taught for 15 years with distinction. He is survived by his wife Ellen; their two sons Joshua and Benjamin, Joshua\'s wife Lisa and their son Cortland; and his mother-in-law, Rosemary Secord. He is also survived by his three sisters, Eleanor Spare and her husband Anthony of Carmel, Calif., Diana Doyle of Carmel, Calif., and Mary Lee O\'Connell and her husband Joseph of Lynnfield, Mass. Finally, he is survived by a large circle of loving friends and by his beloved cat, Duffy. Jim lived a wonderful life and was happy that it was long enough to see the Boston Red Sox win the World Series. Friends are invited to the Doyle home in Sutton Village on Sunday, Feb. 27, from 2 to 5 p.m. A burial service will be held in the spring. , 72, of Blaney Road, Bethlehem, N.H., passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at the Littleton Regional Hospital after a long and courageous battle with heart disease. Henry was born on June 13, 1932, the son of Peter and Clara (Desy) Drapeau in Littleton, N.H. He attended Littleton schools and served in the U.S. Navy. Henry was employed by the Connors and Hoffman Shoe Factory for 19 years before taking over his father\'s painting and wallpapering business. He was a painting contractor for many years until 1993 when he retired and passed the business over to his son, Gerald. Henry was a lifetime member of the VFW and also a member of the Knights of Columbus. In the late 1960s he was a Boy Scout leader for 10 years in Bethlehem. He had a great love for life and family and especially enjoyed the special times with his grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman, loved camping and working in his yard. Henry had many hobbies and collections, and was an antique enthusiast. Henry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy (Lucas) Drapeau of Bethlehem, N.H.; one son, Gerald Drapeau and wife Patricia of Littleton, N.H.; three grandchildren, Nathan Drapeau of Virginia Beach, Bethany Drapeau of West Lebanon and Christopher Drapeau of Littleton; several cousins, nieces, and nephews. His father, mother and one brother, Maurice, predeceased Henry. SERVICES - The family will receive friends on Sunday, Feb. 27 from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. at the Pillsbury Funeral Home, 101 Union St., Littleton, N.H. , 81, of St. Johnsbury, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. He was born Jan. 26, 1924 in Fremont County, Iowa, the last surviving child of the late Karl O. and Hattie (Klute) Lauman. Vern graduated from Northboro, Iowa High School in 1941. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific. He attended and graduated from Tarkio College in Missouri, and years later he received his master\'s degree in education from Lyndon State College. On Nov. 29, 1953, he married Carol L. Chriss. They moved to St. Johnsbury in 1968 when Vern began a 26-year career with Northeast Kingdom Mental Health Services in St. Johnsbury, as a vocational rehabilitation specialist, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed woodworking, making toys, chairs, birdhouses and many other things; teaching and making ceramics; sports and fishing. He was a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Montpelier. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Carol Lauman of St. Johnsbury; two sons, Rod Lauman of St. Johnsbury and Richard Lauman of Portland, Maine; a granddaughter, Leah Lauman of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Lauman and Maxine Lauman, both of Shenandoah, Iowa; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant son, Curtis Lauman; two brothers, Melvin and Harold Lauman; and two sisters, Lois Lauman and his twin, Vera Lauman. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 2 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jonathan Lange officiating. Spring burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in St. Johnsbury. , 84, of Ryegate, Vt., died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at the Grafton County Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on April 1, 1920, the daughter of Clarence A. and Mary (Dockham) Benson. She graduated from the University of Vermont with the Class of 1943 and was a special education teacher with the Haverhill Cooperative School District. Kathleen was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Ryegate Corner for over 50 years, served as their Sunday school superintendent, an elder of the church and held various offices in the women\'s group. She was also a member of the Northern New England Presbyterial. She served as an assistant town clerk for Ryegate two different times, trustee of the Ryegate Library and social service officer for Ryegate. Kathleen was a 4-H leader for many years, a lifelong member of the Homemakers Group, member of the Order of Eastern Star Corinthian Chapter 42 of Wells River, Vt., and an Order of Rainbow advisor. She was a member and officer of the Blue Mountain Grange 263 and a member of National Grange. Kathleen married Reginald S. White in 1943, and on Feb. 16, 1988, he predeceased her. On April 11, 1998, she married Nelson Paul Kling and he predeceased her on April 22, 1999. Surviving relatives include two daughters, Kathy Walker and her husband Calvin of Hampden, Maine, and Mary Jane Whalen and her husband Tim of Essex Jct., Vt; one son, Stewart E. White and his wife Joyce of Ryegate; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two stepsons, George Kling of Pennsylvania and Howard Kling of South Carolina. A calling hour will be Tuesday, March 1, from 7 p.m. and will conclude at 8 p.m. at the Ricker Funeral Home, Birch Street, Woodsville, N.H. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 2, at 1 p.m. in the Ryegate Corner Presbyterian Church, Ryegate Corner, Vt. Officiating will be the Rev. Catherine Cook and the Rev. Dwight White. Burial will be held at a later date in the family lot in Blue Mountain Cemetery, Ryegate Corner. Philippe was born the son of Amedee and Anna (Boulet) Girouard on March 6, 1921, in St. Malo, Quebec, Canada. Philippe was a lumberjack prior to being a supervisor for the Henshel\'s Shoe Company from 1965 to 1983. He was a member of the Littleton Elks Club as well as a parishioner of the St. Rose of Lima Church since 1958. Surviving family members include three sons, Gilles and Gail Girouard of Littleton, N.H., Guy and Pauline Girouard of Hudson, N.H., and Claude and Jeannette Girouard of Nashua, N.H.; one daughter, Diane and Ed Richey of Whitefield, N.H.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cecile Maclure and Maryjane Marion; and four brothers, Arsen Girouard, Raymond Girouard, Albini Girouard, and Rene Girouard. His wife, Rita Girouard; his son, Yvon Girouard; one sister and one brother predeceased Philippe. Mr. Geraw farmed on the Gary and Gail Lyman farm in West Glover. He loved snowmobiling, boating, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Glover Fire Department. Michael was a sixth-grade student at Newport Elementary School. He enjoyed Junior Falcon football, soccer, wrestling, hunting and fishing. Michael was easy-going and was loved by many.
