....show - Christie, Renée L.W. ( née Papineau ) Our dear Renée passed away at home on March 21st 2005 at the age of 89 after a long illness borne with courage and dignity. Survived by her adoring husband of 62 years, Mowatt Christie. Beloved mother of Jacqueline ( Boyd ) of Fox Island, Washington, Talbot and Suzanne ( Williams ) of Oxford, U.K. Grandmother ( Mémé ) of Natasha, Sean, Odette, Jebb, Christopher and Azélie. Great-grandmother of Aurélie. Also survived by her loving sister Jacqueline Desbaillets. Renée was a direct descendent of Louis Joseph Papineau and spent her early childhood at the Manoir at Montebello and in Montreal. During the 1939 war she did nursing service ( VAD ). She was an accomplished artist, she studied first in Montreal under Edwin Holgate and Goodrich Roberts and later under Maggi Hamlin in London. She has had, or contibuted to , many expositions in Canada and elsewhere. Her married life led to lengthy stays abroad in Libya, U.S.A., France, Holland and the U.K. all of which provided subjects for her brush. Renée's loving disposition and kindness and consideration for others shone through her daily contacts and made her much loved and respected by those around her. She will be deeply missed. The family wish to express their thanks for the wonderfull care provided by the CLSC Magog, that permitted retaining her at home- especially to Dr. Danielle Fisch, Dr. Massé and their wonderfully efficient and considerate nurses. A memorial service will be held at St. Barnabas Church, North Hatley on May 21st 2005.

Audrey was a proud, strong and independent woman who inspired all who came in contact with her. She had an avid interest in the townships and considered Denison Mills her home despite living in Gatineau, QC for the past 70 years. ....show - We are all saddened at the news of Ian's passing at CHUS Fleurimont Hospital, on Thursday, April 21st 2005 at the age of 57. Ian was raised in Granby, the son of the late Thomas Tait and the late Kathleen Eadie. Beloved husband of Ginette Bernard. Ian leaves to mourne his dear sister Joyce, his aunt Joyce Love and cousins Sally and John all of B.C. His brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mario and Johanne Bernard and Charlotte Bernard. His dearest friends: Brian Higgins and Jan Draper; his godchildren Molly Higgins and Dany Hickie; his nieces and nephews: Mélanie, Patrick, Nancy and Jeffrey and their spouses, also many other relatives and friends. Although Ian traveled extensively, he always called the Townships home, and he returned to complete his studies at Bishop's University and l'Université de Sherbrooke. Ian joined the staff of Champlain College where he was a popular teacher and colleague. Ian's many interest ranged from First Nation peoples to local folklore. He was a regular contributor to CBC radio where his local knowledge added to Townships lore. In 1976, Ian met Ginette Bernard who became his lifelong love. Together they nurtured their interest in Eastern culture. Wherever he went Ian touched the lives of people he met and he will be missed. A memorial service will be held at Bishop's Campus Hangar Building, on Saturday, April 30th 2005 at 2:00pm. The family will be at the Hall one hour prior to the service to receive condolences. ....show - Yarrill, Eric Herbert, Professor Emeritus of Bishop's University, in his 91st year, peacefully at his home in Lennoxville, Qc, on January 2nd, 2005. The son of Herbert G. Yarrill and Amelia Louise Blackford, Mr Yarrill was born in Brentford, Isleworth, England on December 28th, 1914 and became a Canadian citizen on October 2nd 1947. A lieutenant with the Royal Canadian Navy, he served in naval intelligence during the Second World War. On July 24th, 1945, in Newport, Vermont, he married Edith Marguerite Oedelshoff who predeceased him on May 9th 2004. Prof. Yarrill leaves to mourn his passing his two sisters: Stella Anthes of Niagara Falls, Ont, and Mary Foster of Quispamsis, NB, and their families. In respect of his wishes there will be no visitation. Private interment of ashes at a later date.
