She was predeceased by her first-born child, Quentin Sargeant; parents, Ora and Jennie (Clark) Ennis; brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl Ennis of Windsor, Everett and Billie (Watts) Ennis of South Cabot, Ralph Ennis and Fred Ennis of South Cabot, Raymond and Marion (Houghton) Ennis of St. Johnsbury, James and Sylvia (May) Ennis of Marshfield, and John Ennis of Marshfield; sister, Helen (Ennis) and Harold Keene of South Cabot; one nephew, John "Jake" Ennis of South Cabot; her husband's parents, Neal and Emma (Stocker) Sargeant; brothers-in-law, Carroll Batten of Canaan, N.H., Hector Michaud of Hardwick, Raymond Sevigny of Florida, Paul Berard of Danville, and William Thompson of Hardwick; niece-in-law, Rhonda (Smith) Keene; and great-nieces, Amanda Keene of South Cabot, and Sarah Batten of Canaan, N.H. She is survived by her husband, Neal W. Sargeant Jr. of South Cabot; daughter, Kimberly L.S. Daly of South Cabot; son and daughter-in-law, Neal W. Sargeant III and Cathy (Geoffroy) Sargeant of West Danville; son-in-law, John Daly of Randolph, Vt.; sisters, Fannie (Ennis) Michaud of Hardwick, and Hattie (Ennis) Batten of Canaan, N.H.; son-in-law, Peter Thompson Sr. of Benton, N.H.; grandchildren, Peter Thompson Jr. of Stowe, Brekke Thompson-Loati and Kurt Loati of Hyde Park, Robert Geoffroy and Angela Cleveland of Hardwick, and Patricia Geoffroy of Danville; great-granddaughter, Natalie Geoffroy; sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha (Sargeant) Sevigny and Nila (Sargeant) Thompson of St. Johnsbury, Donald Sargeant of Barton, Theodore and Joan (Gile) Sargeant of Richmond, John and Marilyn (Sargeant) Graham of Texarkana, Ark., Verna (Clark) Ennis, and Marion (Ennis) Hebert; and many loved cousins, nieces and nephews. June was in a bowling league for years. She worked at the Regional Library in St. Johnsbury and the Pope Memorial Library in Danville and was an avid reader. She was a member of the South Cabot Historical Society and a great historian. June and her husband Neal traveled extensively, visiting all of the 48 contiguous states and many of the Canadian provinces in their life together. They also visited every town named Ennis in this country. They traveled to Germany to see their son who was serving in the Army, and visited Ireland and the British Isles. Not so long ago she loved long walks and snowshoe hikes. She was passionate about family and was the family genealogist - taking over from her late father-in-law. She was a loving and generous person whose wisdom and insight will be sorely missed. June was an active member of the West Danville Methodist Church for many years. , 65, of Barnet, Vt., passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in West Roxbury, Mass. Born in St. Johnsbury, Vt., on Aug. 5, 1940, he was the son of Frank and Mabel (Colbeth) Bandy. He was a graduate of McIndoes Academy and was employed as a truck driver for various companies. He loved bluegrass music and was an accomplished musician. David also enjoyed fishing. He entered the U.S. Army in 1957 during the Korean conflict. David was a member of the St. Johnsbury Moose Club. Survivors include his mother, Mabel Bandy of Barnet; two sons, Frank Bandy of Plainfield, Vt., and Dennis Bandy of Orange, Vt.; one daughter, Lori Beaulieu of Brookfield, Vt.; five grandchildren; and one brother, Vernon Bandy of Richmond, Vt. He was predeceased by his father, Frank D. Bandy. A funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. , 97, of Lyndon, passed away at The Pines Rehabilitation and Health Center on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005. She was born in Ayers Cliff, Quebec, Canada, on Nov. 30, 1907, the daughter of Warren and Agnes (Webster) Bowen. She grew up in the Cole Corner district of St. Johnsbury. On June 18, 1932, she married Raymond Alec Smith, who predeceased her in 1968. They moved to York Street, Lyndon, where she resided for 60 years. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Harold and Cecil. She is survived by her son, Merritt Smith and his wife Bonnie of Newport; her grandson, Merritt II and his wife Connie and great-grandsons, Brian and Andrew of North Haverhill, N.H.; a granddaughter, Sarah and her husband Chip Stevens of East Burke; as well as numerous close neighbors of York Street who have cared so greatly for her and whom she loved dearly. Gramma May loved card games with her peers and especially cribbage with her caregivers. It was a special treat to be skunked by a 97-year-old. She also cared greatly for gardening, handiwork, collecting salt and pepper shakers, and getting people's attention with her cane! She was a fountain of old sayings and home-spun wisdom. She was a stay-at-home mom until her son was in the upper grades when she followed him to school and for many years was a hot lunch cook at the Lyndon Corner School. After her husband passed away, she studied and practiced to get her first driver's license at the age of 61. She made a list of goals: fly in a jet plane, ride in a semi truck, ride on a Harley-Davidson, and ride in a helicopter. She accomplished them by traveling many years to Florida for winters, riding with her son's brother-in-law Gary Griswold in his semi and at the age of 90, riding with him on his Harley. Her helicopter ride was accomplished through the efforts of a young neighbor boy, Chad Ste. Marie. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Newport. Friends may call at the Guibord Funeral Home, Friday, Oct. 21, from 6-8 p.m. Graveside services will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m., at the cemetery in Lyndon Center. , 65, of Brown Street, Whitefield, N.H., died suddenly at home Friday morning Oct. 21, 2005. Mrs. Towle was born in Bloomfield, Vt., on Nov. 25, 1939, the daughter of Leon and Lillian (Bennett) Roby. Eldeen lived in Lancaster for many years, before moving to Whitefield in 1974. She worked at Morrison Nursing Home for the last 18 years. Her hobbies and interests included crossword puzzles, crocheting, feeding the birds and watching horse pulling. She also loved animals, especially her cat Goofy. Family members include her husband of 31 years, Emmett E. Towle of Whitefield; a son, Raynard Dupont and Trina of Northumberland; one daughter, Betty Stapleton and Kevin of Clermont, Fla.; two stepsons, Jeffrey Towle of Whitefield, and John Towle and Heather of North Conway; six stepdaughters, Cathy Towle of Whitefield, Judy Ramsdell and Jim of Dalton, Penny Buell and Michael of Jupiter, Fla., Debby Towle and Mark Howard also of Jupiter, Fla., Nancy Towle of Whitefield, and Beth Towle of Bethlehem; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Barbara Reynolds and Winona Osgood, both of Groveton. She was predeceased by her first husband, Raymond W. Dupont, in 1973. Visiting hours will be held Sunday afternoon and evening, Oct. 23, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. , 86, of Starr King Park, Lancaster, N.H., died Saturday morning, Oct. 22, 2005, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster. Mrs. Buteau was born in Lancaster on Oct. 6, 1919, the daughter of Clifford and Johanna (Dugan) Vashaw. Arline was a lifetime resident of Lancaster. She was employed for a time at McCaffreys Bakery, Lancaster, and also worked 29 years at Connors & Hoffman, Littleton. She was always putting other people before herself and through the years has been a devoted caregiver to several family members. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed having people visit her. She was a communicant off All Saints Church, Lancaster. She was a member of Tabernacle Society and former member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 3041. Family members include two daughters, Patricia Gilman and her husband Elmer of Lancaster, and Priscilla Cliche of Lancaster; seven grandchildren, Jeff Gilman and his wife Jane, Bryan Cliche and his wife Judy, Bruce Cliche and his wife April, Kathy Landry and her husband Peter, Tricia Bishop and her husband Allan, Sherri Marquis and her husband Alan, and Andrew Cliche and his wife Margo; 15 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, James Cliche of Lancaster. She was predeceased by her husband, Adolphe E. Buteau, in 1989; and her brother, Roland Vashaw. Alexina lived in Rocky Hill, Conn., during her earlier years, returning to Greensboro Bend over 20 years ago. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church in Greensboro Bend where she was very active in church affairs and various church groups. Her great love was her family and church. She is survived by her son, Andre Fournier and his wife Dolly of Glover; daughters, Cecelia Junokas and her husband Joel of South Higganum, Conn., and RoseMarie Boone and her husband Roger of Windsor Locks, Conn.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alexina was predeceased by her husband, Henry; a brother, Edward; and sisters, Elizabeth Gendron, Claire Courville and Sister Claire Alexina. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the des Groseilliers Funeral Home, Church Street, Hardwick. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 am in St. Michael's Church, Greensboro Bend, with interment to follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. , 89, of Elm Street, Guildhall, Vt., died Monday morning, Oct. 24, 2005, at Littleton Regional Hospital. Mrs. Ramsdell was born in Stratford, N.H., Jan. 6, 1916, the daughter of Levi and Flora (Barron) Portigue. She has resided throughout the North Country and was a Whitefield resident for many years. For the past 20 years she has lived in Guildhall. She was a homemaker who loved baking and gardening. She also enjoyed spending time with children and has cared for many over the years. Family members include her husband, Theodore A. Ramsdell of Guildhall; seven children, Carol Collins of Lancaster, George Stone and his wife Sandra of Whitefield, Walter Stone of Littleton, Ellen Robinson and her husband Robert of Littleton, Judy Dyer and her husband Dale of Sharon, Vt., Theodore Stone of Woodsville, and Robert Ramsdell and his wife Judy of Whitefield; a sister, Alice Bigelow of Lancaster; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Ruth (Merrill) (Derosia) Bonett

of Snell Road, St. Johnsbury, Vt., passed away Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, at the age of 91. She was born in Rumney, N.H., on Jan. 19, 1914, the daughter of Verlorous and Maude (Goodwin) Merrill. She was predeceased by her first husband, Leo F. Derosia, in June 1962. She spent many happy years with her second husband Earl who passed away this past April 21. Three children predeceased her, Virginia Harris, Marjorie Dubois and Leo Derosia. In many ways Ruth got her wish of dying with her boots on. She was able to stay at her Snell Road home with the help of her very generous and loving neighbors. She loved her flower gardens and fed the wild animals and birds right up until she suffered her stroke last Friday. Pets were an important part of the Bonett home and are all buried in their pet cemetery. Years ago Ruth taught school and worshipped at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. She faithfully read and digested her Bibles and had an abiding faith in God. She is survived by two children, John R. Derosia and his wife Patricia of Ashland, N.H. (P.O. Box 171 03217), and Marcia Derosia of South Burlington (408 S. Beach Rd. 05403); one stepdaughter, Marie Fitchett and her husband Wes of Barnet; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, some of whom she helped raise. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Forrest and Harvey; and by three sisters, Rita Cutter, Lila Wescott and Bea Dwyer. Funeral services will be held this Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Main Street, St. Johnsbury. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. , 71, of Lancaster, N.H., formerly of Lyman, N.H., passed away Oct. 24, 2005, at the Country Village Nursing Home in Lancaster. Clifton was born in Lyman, N.H., on Oct. 11, 1934, a son to Albert and Grace (Olcott) Santy. He graduated from Lisbon High School. Clifton was raised on his family farm in Lyman, which he acquired from his family and operated for many years. He was a member of the National Grange Association and was a very devoted Christian. One sister, Jennie S. Blodgett of Whitefield, NH; several nieces and nephews; and good friend, Betty Hunt of Lancaster, survive Clifton. One brother, Bernard S. Santy; and one sister, Mildred S. Pageau; predeceased him. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 3 p.m., at the Mountain View Baptist Church in Lancaster, N.H., with Pastor Dan Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery in Lisbon, N.H.

, 89, of Hardwick, died unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, at her residence. She was born Feb. 17, 1916. Greta never knew her biological parents. She grew up in Hardwick with the Austin and Gladys Robertson family. She attended Hardwick public schools. She married Ronald Eugene Fadden. She was employed at the North Montpelier Woolen Mills and Concord Manufacturing in Morrisville. For several years she was a domestic for the Greensboro summer residents. She enjoyed camping and picnics with her family as well as bingo and shopping. Survivors include two daughters, Pauline Parkhurst of Hardwick, and Bonita Reed and her husband Edward of Waterford; two sons, Mabyan Fadden and his wife Marina of Lyndonville, and Robert Fadden and his wife Alice of Hardwick; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald, in 1976; and two brothers, Earl Robertson and Harold "Stub" Robertson. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, at 11 a.m., at the Northern Vermont Funeral Home, 60 Elm St., Hardwick, with Pastor Judy Waible of the United Church in Hardwick officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in the Fairview Cemetery in Hardwick. James "Craig" Montgomery

, a native of East Hardwick, Vt., passed away at his home on Oct. 28, 2005, at the age of 84. Born in Hardwick, Vt., on Aug. 6, 1921, he was the son of the late Nield S. and Agnes (Craig) Montgomery. On Nov. 1, 1944, he married Louise Noyes in St. Johnsbury, Vt. Craig attended schools in Hardwick and Montpelier, Vt. He served his country in the United States Naval Reserve. Service vessels and stations served on included: USNR, Springfield, Mass.; USNTS, Sampson, N.Y.; USNN a TeckCen, Memphis, Tenn.; RS, NS, New Orleans, La.; RecShip, San Francisco, Calif.; and USS Killen, USNH, San Diego, Calif. Craig was a farmer, logger and sexton. He was honored in 2001 by the Sanborn Cemetery Association for 59 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 7, and former member of the Grange, Vt. Trappers Assoc., Hardwick Rod & Gun Club, and Beagle Club. Craig was an all-around outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, and both fly fishing and ice fishing. His interests included gardening, playing cribbage, telling stories and spending time with his family. He is the father of two sets of twins and great-grandfather of twin girls. He is survived by his brother, Nield (June) and his wife Mary of Agawam, Mass.; his sister, Ann and her husband Dick Sullivan of Hardwick, Vt,; his three sons, Dennis and his wife Lorraine, John and his wife Charlene, and Jeffrey, all of East Hardwick; three daughters, Marylou and her husband Ronnie Wells of Plainfield, Deborah and her husband Tony LaCasse of Barre, Vt., and Nancy and her husband Dennis Lacroix of Charlevoix, Mich.; a former daughter-in-law, Maureen Montgomery of Barre, Vt.; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Louise, in 1982; his sister, MaryLou, in 1943; a brother, Rod, in 1976; and a granddaughter, Gabrielle, in 2001. , longtime St. Johnsbury resident and business owner, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab Center at the age of 90. She was born in North Concord, Vt., May 16, 1915, the daughter of Victor and Adla (Levaggi) Bona. A graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy, she had started working for her uncle, Louis Bona, while attending the Academy. In 1945, she and her husband, Harry L. Lewis, purchased the St. Johnsbury Fruit Company, and in 1971, she started the Hilltopper Restaurant, which she ran tirelessly for 34 years. Her restaurant became a landmark on Main Street, known throughout by residents and tourists for food and fellowship. Survivors include two sons, Victor Lewis, and Steven and his wife Diane Lewis, both of St. Johnsbury; brother, Fred and his wife Barbara Bona of Lyndonville; sister, Josephine Swartz of Hollywood, Fla.; grandchildren, Shane Lewis, Danielle Nitche, Christopher Lewis and Jennifer Lewis; great-grandchildren, Aidan and Maren Nitche; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry L. Lewis, in 1971; and two brothers. Services will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt.
