of West Glover, who disappeared January 20, 2004, at age 23, were discovered off the Urie Road in Craftsbury on May 10, 2005. Mr. Young was born July 9, 1980, in Newport, a son of James T. Young of West Glover and Karey (King) Young of Milton. He attended Lake Region Union High School and later studied architecture at New Mexico State University and Philadelphia University. He played Little League baseball in Barton, had a paper route for the Newport Daily Express, and worked on the family farm. He attended the East Craftsbury Presbyterian Church. He leaves his father, Jim Young, and his wife, Pat, of West Glover; his mother, Karey Young, of Milton; his paternal grandmother, June Young, of West Glover; two brothers, Edwin and Samuel Young, both of West Glover; two sisters, Tracey Young of St. John, Virgin Islands, and Elizabeth Young of Hinesburg; two stepbrothers, Hans Christiansen of Glover and Fletcher Christiansen of Morrisville; a stepsister, Kathryn Carberry, of Towson, Maryland; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Friday, May 20, at the East Craftsbury Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Jack Cabaness officiating. Private interment will be in the Andersonville Cemetery in West Glover. Wilfred H. Tetreault

, 72, of Derby died at his home on Tuesday, May 10, 2005. Mr. Tetreault was born in Canada on June 11, 1932, a son of Leo Paul Sr. and Melinda (Martel) Tetreault. He farmed for many years before going to work at Kraft Foods, from which he retired. He moved back to Vermont from Benton, Kentucky, in August 2003 to live with his daughter. He enjoyed gardening and pickling many of the items grown in his garden. He also loved to watch the Price Is Right. He is survived by several children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and by his brothers Raoul Tetreault of East Charleston and Leo Paul Tetreault Jr. of West Charleston and their families. He was predeceased by his sister Cecile. Graveside services were held May 12 at St. Edward's Cemetery in Derby Line with the Reverend Yvon Royer officiating. Interment followed.
Margaret Mary McGee

, 61, of Newport died peacefully May 11, 2005, in Newport. Mrs. McGee was born October 13, 1943, in Newport, a daughter of Michael and Helena (Kingston) Wilson. She married Edward Leo McGee, who predeceased her. She graduated from Blessed Sacrament High School in Newark, New Jersey. She was a secretary and nurse's aide at St. Michael's Hospital in Newark. She spent most of her life in Newark and Woodbridge, New Jersey, and moved to Newport in 2001. She enjoyed being around people and spending time with her daughter. She is survived by her daughter Kelly Ferringo of Newport; by two sisters, Theresa and Roseanne Wilson; and by a brother, Michael Wilson. She was predeceased by a son, Michael Wilson. A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Newport with the Reverend Yvon Royer celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial. , 95, of North Troy died peacefully May 11, 2005, in Newport. Mrs. Griggs was born January 20, 1910, in Mansonville, Quebec, a daughter of Archie and Julia (Brown) Carter. On May 26, 1932, she married Harrie A. Griggs, who predeceased her on August 12, 1997. She was involved with community projects, particularly anything to do with children. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens. She started hot lunch programs, where she donated her time and money while she was head of the Troy Parent Teacher Association. She held memberships with North Troy American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 28 and was a past sexton of the North Troy Cemetery. She is survived by her children Joyce Beyor of North Troy and Roderick Griggs and his wife, Linda, of Kentucky; by nine grandchildren; by 23 great-grandchildren; by 11 great-great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers and sisters: Edward, Robert, Maurice, Myron, and Raymond Carter and Edna Dunn, Doris Carter, and Elmira Fox; and by two grandchildren. Funeral services were held May 13 with the Reverend Roger Fletcher officiating at a Curtis-Britch Converse-Rushford Funeral Home in Newport. , 52, of Troy died suddenly May 11, 2005, in Troy. Mr. Crawford was born May 17, 1952, in Troy, a son of Ernest and Blanche (Thompson) Crawford. He was a retired construction worker. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards, fishing, and traveling to several different states. When he was able, he made himself available to several senior citizens, taking them to their doctor's appointments. He was a charter member and treasurer of the Troy Fire Department and the ambulance service. He is survived by two brothers, Merrill Crawford and his wife, Norma, of Troy and James Crawford and his wife, Joyce, of Westfield; by his sister Ernestine French of Rutland; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joe Crawford and Ken Sanville; by his sister Barbara; and by a good friend, John Stevens. , 87, of Newport died in Newport on Sunday, May 15, 2005. Mrs. Brown was born in Montréal, Québec, on December 3, 1917, a daughter of Philip and Marie (Darragh) Barrett. She loved animals and bird watching. Over her lifetime she rescued and kept many animals. On September 13, 1941, she married George C. Brown, who survives her. She is also survived by her daughter Diane Brown-Couture and her husband, Michael, of Mattapoisett, Massachusetts; by her grandsons James Couture and Quintin Couture and his wife, Jessica, all of Wareham, Massachusetts; by her brother Alan Barrett of Montréal; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother James Barrett. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. , 68, of Wilmington, North Carolina, a former IBM marketing manager, died Sunday, May 1, 2005, after a brief illness. Born July 21, 1936, in Concord, Massachusetts, Mr. Brooks attended Concord-Carlisle High School and was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He married Joan Bertrand on September 12, 1959. They lived briefly in Baltimore, Maryland, and Winston-Salem, North Carolina, before settling in Washington, D.C., in 1971. He also worked and lived in Frankfurt, Germany, in the mid-1980s. After retiring in 1992, he and his wife removed to Beaufort, North Carolina, and ran Island Hardware on Emerald Isle until 1995, when they moved to Wilmington. In Wilmington he was chairman of the steering committee for St. James Church Laymen's League, volunteered as a guardian ad litem, and served on the boards of Civitan International, the Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina, and the Historic Wilmington Foundation. An avid train enthusiast since childhood, he was an active board member of the Wilmington Railroad Museum. He belonged to the Surf Club of Wrightsville Beach and the City Club at de Rosset in downtown Wilmington. He is survived by his wife; by his son John Brooks and his partner, Todd Fibus, of Atlanta, Georgia; by his daughter Mittie Brooks Rooney and her husband, Curtis, of Bethesda, Maryland; by two grandchildren, Caitlin and Thomas; and by his sister Beverly Brooks Johnson and her husband, Kenneth, of Irasburg. A memorial service was held May 5 at St. James Church. His ashes will be interred at St. John's Church on Lafayette Square in Washington, D.C., at a service on May 9. , 57, of Newport Center died in Newport on Friday, May 13, 2005. Mrs. Birdsall was born in Bridgeton, New Jersey, on November 26, 1947, a daughter of the late James and Margaret (Griner) Long. She was a 1966 graduate of Bridgeton High School. She enjoyed baking, gardening, interior designing, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren. On April 19, 1968, she married George Birdsall, who survives her. She is also survived by her daughters Leisa Powers of Greenwich, New Jersey, and Marnie Willis of Troy; and by her grandchildren: Jeremy and Colin Powers and Yvan Willis. She was predeceased by her sister Barbara Mayall. Graveside services were held May 16 at the Westfield Cemetery. Interment followed. Betty Ann (Sinclair) Birchard

, 73, died Friday, May 13, 2005, at her daughter's home in Lyndonville. Mrs. Birchard was born October 22, 1931, in St. Albans, a daughter of William F. Sinclair Jr. and Wilma (Burleson) Sinclair. She attended schools in Barton, Montpelier, and Newport, where her father was manager of the local A&P Store. She graduated from Newport High School in 1950 and was employed by Dr. Perry Fitch and then as a telephone operator for New England Telephone in Newport. She married Edson Birchard on June 11, 1955. After the birth of her daughter, she became a devoted homemaker. She was a member of the United Church of Newport and was active in church activities. Upon moving to Lyndonville, she attended services at the First Congregational Church in Lyndonville with her daughter and East Burke Congregational Church in East Burke. She is survived by her husband, Edson Birchard, with whom she would have celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on June 11; by daughter Susan Wells and her husband, Wade, and their son Thomas; by brothers John Sinclair and his wife, Sherry, of North Chelmsford, Massachusetts, and James Sinclair and his wife, Jane, of Brewer, Maine; by nieces and nephews; by her uncle Robert Sinclair and his wife, Dolly, of South Burlington and Arizona; and by her aunt Hazel Sinclair of South Burlington. She is lovingly remembered for her caring attention to her family. She enjoyed playing bingo, attending her grandson's basketball games, taking many trips to Florida and Arizona when Thomas was younger, and attending annual Sinclair family reunions.
