, 71, of Newport, beloved mother, nana, and friend to many, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, after a courageous battle with kidney disease, surrounded by her family and friends, in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Mrs. Farrand was born on May 31, 1933, in Lyndonville, a daughter of Walter and Florence (LaFrance) Walker. She was a graduate of Newport High School. On July 8, 1989, she married Dewey Farrand, who predeceased her on May 3, 1992. She was was a cook for Frank's Steakhouse for 21 years and enjoyed housekeeping and cooking for Justin and Frances Curtis at the funeral home on Bay Street. She held memberships with Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary No. 798 in Newport, where she was past president, American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 28 in North Troy, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Newport. She loved traveling to garage sales, picking fiddleheads, knitting, cooking for the family, and playing bingo. She had a joy for life and always had a unique sense of humor. She is survived by her children: Michael Grondin and his wife, Carol, of Albany, Peter Grondin and his wife, Judy, of Newport, Terrance Grondin of Morgan, Pedro Grondin of Coventry, Vicky Carpenter of Derby, and Barbie Fecteau and her husband, Randy, of Holland; by twin sons, Keith Grondin of Morgan and Kevin Grondin of St. Johnsbury; by her grandchildren: Joshua, Monica, James, Florence, Cheryl, Michelle, Aaron, Kyle, Amanda, Seth, Katie, Randy, Kenneth, Mandi, Kendra, Tiffany, and Logan; by her great-grandchildren: Katie, Derrek, Kayla, Brendon, Ryan, and Carly; by stepdaughter Chic Gonyaw and her husband, Rick, of Morgan; by stepgrandsons Jason Sr. and Micheal Gonyaw; by stepgreat-grandchildren: Jason Jr., Jasmine, and Jaden; by a sister, Marilyn Fenwick, of Plymouth, Massachusetts; by several nieces and nephews; and by a special friend, Bill Donovan, of Derby Line. , 51, of Barton died peacefully March 8, 2005, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Ms. Hoops was born April 27, 1953, in Newport, a daughter of Ruth (Kennison) Damon and the late Howard Damon. She graduated from Lake Region Union High School in 1971 and later from Weber State University's school of nursing in Utah. She was employed as a registered nurse by Maple Lane Nursing Home in Barton. She loved her work serving people and attending to her family. She loved to fish. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary No. 76 of Barton. She is survived by her children Hatteras Hoops of Barton and his companion, Mary Hoadley, of Newport and Gillian Hoops of Barton and her companion, Daniel Boutin, of Glover; by her mother, Ruth Damon, of Barton; by three brothers: Terry Damon and his wife, Bonnie, of Maryland, Pete Damon and his wife, Sue, of Florida, and Karl Damon and his fiancée, Brenda, of Derby Line; by a cousin, Elizabeth Cook, and her husband, Larry, of Maryland; by her boyfriend, Rick Archambault, of Nashua, New Hampshire; by her longtime friend Beverly Ballard of Irasburg; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Nola Damon; and by her father, Howard Damon. Funeral services were held March 14 at the Barton United Church with the Reverend Michael Caldwell officiating. , 78, of Orleans died in Concord, Massachusetts, on Monday, March 14, 2005. Mrs. Thompson was born in Calgary, Alberta, on August 28, 1926, a daughter of Howard and Violet (Parlin) Allen. On October 7, 1955, she married Roland Thompson, who predeceased her in December 1991. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Evelyn Thompson of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, and Lennie Emerson of Orleans; and by nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Esther Foy, in September 1970. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Brownington Center Cemetery. , 86, of Hardwick, known as the father of azaleas, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Edebohls was born March 8, 1919, in Brooklyn, New York, a son of the late Louis and Eliza (Kruger) Edebohls. He graduated from John Adams High School in Queens, New York. On September 29, 1943, he married Blanche Marion Fisher in Burlington. He entered the U.S. Army on October 1, 1940, in Brooklyn. He trained at Fort Ethan Allen in Burlington. He served his country throughout Europe and was involved in the invasion of Normandy. He received several medals for his efforts, including a battlefield commission, an American Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star GO14-HQ-V-Corp, a European-African Middle Eastern Service Medal with an arrowhead, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on October 4, 1945, at Fort Dix, New Jersey. In his earlier years he was a shipping clerk for Superior Manufacturing in Long Island, New York. From 1957 to 1982 he was manager at Mastercraft in Greensboro Bend. He built the first totally enclosed heated sawmill with one continuous floor in the state of Vermont. He invented many machines used to create specialty fences and shadow board fences. For years he had a rhododendron and azalea business on the Craftsbury Road in Hardwick. These plants were hardy and able to survive Vermont winters. He was affiliated with the United Church of Hardwick. He had served on the board of the Copley Country Club in Morrisville and was a past president of the Hardwick Men's Bowling League. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9653 in Morrisville and was on the original planning board for Hazen Union School. He enjoyed hunting. Survivors include two sons, Robert W. Edebohls of Hardwick and Douglas Fisher and his wife, Molly, of East Corinth; a brother, Charles Edebohls, of Boca Raton, Florida; three grandchildren: Michael Edebohls of Madison, Wisconsin, Captain Mark Fisher stationed in Iraq, and Karen Dresser and her husband, Steve, of North Brookfield, Massachusetts; a great-granddaughter, Bridgett Dresser of North Brookfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Blanche, in 1999; and by a brother, William Edebohls. Funeral services will be held in the spring. , 91, died and went home to be with her beloved Kip on Monday, March 7, 2005. Mrs. Cole was born in Mansonville, Quebec, on May 14, 1913, the only daughter of Reginald and Gladys (Warner) Robinson. On April 26, 1935, she married Clifton "Kip" Cole, who predeceased her on April 28, 2004. She and her husband made their home in North Troy for many years. She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church in North Troy and a member of the friendly class of the church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her sons Reginald Cole and his wife, Rachel, of Zephyrhills, Florida, and Richard Cole and his wife, Nancy, of North Troy; by her brothers Alan and Alfred Robinson, both of Florida; by her grandchildren: Rhonda, Sheila, Steve, Tim, Tina, and Jana; by 12 great-grandchildren; by one great-great-grandchild; and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be missed by many. A graveside service will take place at the North Troy Village Cemetery in the spring. , 84, of North Troy died peacefully March 12, 2005, in Newport. Mr. Choquette was born January 8, 1921, in St. Paul d'abbotsford, Quebec, a son of Hermas and Laura (Brunelle) Choquette. In 1942 he married Marie Jeanne Tetreault, who predeceased him in 1947. On October 28, 1966, he married Mona Judd, who predeceased him March 18, 1996. He was a truck driver for many years for Poulin Grain and Lumber Company. He enjoyed visiting at the B&D Store for morning coffee and fellowship, and he was an avid Red Sox fan. He was naturalized as a U.S. citizen on May 23, 1995. He is survived by his children: Rene Choquette of Arizona, Louise Kangas and her husband, Gary, of South Carolina, Annette Lepkowski and her husband, Joseph, of Maine, and Richard Choquette and his wife, Linda, of North Troy; by stepchildren: Larry Judd and his wife, Diane, of Massachusetts, Donna Darling and her husband, Kenneth, of Connecticut, Sandi Burkard and her husband, Forrest, of Florida; by a brother, Phillip Choquette, of North Clarendon; by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; by numerous nieces and nephews; and by special friends, Evelyn Hall, the gang at the B&D Store, Liz and Bill Farley, and Roy Cote. He was predeceased by a stepson, Ralph "Sonny" Judd; by a sister, Yvette McCauley; and by a brother, Rosaire. , 80, of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, died suddenly March 12, 2005, at the Sacred Heart Convent in Newport. Sister Marie-Jeanne was born August 24, 1924, in Biddeford, Maine, a daughter of Blanche and Henri Phillipe Berthiaume. She professed her final vows as a Daughter of the Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on July 13, 1943. She served over 50 years in nursing home ministry in Newport, Rutland, and Derby Line, many of those years with Catholic Charities. In her last ten years in Newport, she was a hospice volunteer and made weekly visits to local nursing homes. She enjoyed art of many forms and knitting and sewing. She is survived by sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and her religious sisters in community. Her sisters and brother predeceased her. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Newport March 16. Spring burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Newport.

, 87, of Craftsbury Common died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Copley Manor in Morrisville, where he had been a patient. Mr. West was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 25, 1917, a son of Joseph T. and Agnes (Wylie) West. He attended Middlebury College and went to work for Western Electric in New York City. On June 1, 1946, he married Christina Buchanan, who had emigrated to the U.S. from Scotland with her family in her early years. She died January 23, 2000. He owned and operated his own carpet business in Mt. Kisco, New York, for about 35 years before his semi-retirement to the family summer home in Craftsbury Common in 1978. While in Vermont he did some carpet work and painting and wallpapering. When the water district was formed for Craftsbury Common, he was elected treasurer and continued with that job for many years. He also was the custodian of the United Church of Craftsbury for many years and the keeper of the carillon, which had been donated to the church in memory of his mother. Survivors include two sons, Gregory and Scott West, of Craftsbury Common; two daughters, Christina Moir of Mapleton, Maine, and Victoria Bueti of Patterson, New York; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Chris, in 2000; and by two brothers, Joseph and Gregory West. A memorial service will be held at a later date with interment in the East Craftsbury Cemetery. Mrs. Sargent was born on November 22, 1934, in Highwater, Quebec, a daughter of Ernest and Hattie (Aiken) Hamelin. On July 4, 1953, she married Norman Sargent Sr., who predeceased her on October 16, 1998. She was a chambermaid for the Bayview Motel for many years and held many other jobs during her life. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, canning, bird watching, flowers, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her children: Deborah Vine and her husband, Stuart, of Montreal, Quebec, Norman Sargent Jr. and his wife, Bonnie, of Newport Center, Valerie Sargent of Newport, Kathy Hall and her husband, Dean, of North Troy, Richard Sargent and his wife, Shelley, of Newport Center, and Steve and Kevin Sargent of Newport; by her grandchildren: David, Nathan, Jason and his wife, Lisa, Megan and her husband, Andrew, Renee, Jessica, Joshua, Kayla, Jordan, and Keenan; and by her siblings: Shirley Smith and her husband, Ross, Ross Hamelin, Jane Hamelin and her companion, Fritz, all of Masonville, Quebec. On September 3, 1945, she married Jean Meunier, who predeceased her on June 8, 1987. She was a member of the Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired. She enjoyed playing bingo, shopping, riding around with Grace, fishing and hunting with Daisy, and spending time at adult daycare. She loved her tabby cat and her dog, Tangy. On July 17, 1938, she married Kenneth Locke Sr., who predeceased her. , 92, of Woodbury, formerly of Greensboro, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at Copley Hospital in Morrisville. Mr. Hanson was born February 7, 1913, in Craftsbury, a son of the late Herbert and Nettie (Bassett) Hanson. He attended Craftsbury public schools. He entered the U.S. Army, serving his country in the South Pacific during World War II. Following his honorable discharge in 1945, he returned to Vermont. He married Ruth Lillian Tate in October 1946 in Greensboro. He was a dairy farmer for most of his working years. Following the death of his father, he assisted his mother on the family farm in Craftsbury. In 1946 he purchased a dairy farm in Greensboro, which he operated for many years. He was caretaker for the Mansfield Freeman property in Greensboro. He retired in 1989 and later moved to Woodbury, where he has since made his home with his son Herbert. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 7 of Hardwick. He enjoyed the time that he spent with his children and grandchildren. Other enjoyments included fishing, working in the woods, spending time with his friends at the American Legion, and making brief stops along Hardwick's Main Street to shop and visit. Survivors include two sons, Herbert Hanson and his wife, Bonnie, of Woodbury and Herman Hanson and his wife, Kim, of Morrisville; a daughter, Jacalyn Hanson, of Hardwick; a son-in-law, Jerry Currier, of Newport; five grandchildren: Aaron Hanson of Woodbury, Tara Butler of Johnson, Mark Currier of Newport, and Tyler Hanson and Adam Hanson, both of Morrisville; two great-grandchildren, Zoie and Zachary Butler, both of Johnson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a daughter, Bettyanne Currier, in 1997; and by four siblings: Marvel Varney, Leo Hanson, Guy Hanson, and Donald Hanson. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 2, at 2 p.m., at the Northern Vermont Funeral Service in Hardwick with the Reverend Alden Launer officiating. Mrs. Dion was born in Brownington on January 4, 1919, a daughter of Fred and Leafy (Queor) Lacoss. She played the fiddle, the accordion, and the organ. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, crocheting, and her cats and birds. On November 3, 1941, she married Norman Dion, who survives her. She is also survived by her children: Ronald Dion and his wife, Martha, of Huntsville, Alabama, Dennis Dion and his wife, Denise, of Florida, Wayne Dion and his wife, Jennie, of Irasburg, Clare Dion of North Concord, Clarice Boutin and her husband, Roland, of Tucson, Arizona, Linda Chagnon and her husband, Pete, of Burlington, Alan Dion and his wife, Catherine, of Albany, David Dion and his wife, Anita, of Irasburg, and Charles Dion of Coventry; by 20 grandchildren; and by 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters. She was a kind-hearted, loving, and totally devoted mother and grandmother. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 19 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Orleans with the Reverend Daniel Rupp officiating. , 82, of Orleans died in Newport on Wednesday, March 16, 2005. Mr. Chouinard was born in St. Césare, Quebec, on April 28, 1922, a son of Ernest and Diana (Masse) Chouinard. He was a 1940 graduate of Montpelier High School and attended the University of New Mexico. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army and served two tours during World War II where he worked as an airplane engine mechanic. He worked as a security guard for the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, and the U.S. Civil Service Commission in Los Alamos, New Mexico, for 33 years. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed reading, trapping, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, and traveling. On January 9, 1986, he married Gwen Kingsbury, who survives him. He is also survived by his children Mark Chouinard and his wife, Virginia, and Victoria Chouinard, all of Albuquerque, New Mexico; by his sisters: Gabrielle Miles of Florida, Ernestine Booth of Long Meadow, Massachusetts, and Edith Minch of Mallets Bay; and by five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Richard; by his brother Roger; and by his sisters Gertrude Viens and Lucille Wisnieski. Funeral services were held March 21 at a Curtis-Britch Converse-Rushford Funeral Home in Newport with the Reverend Daniel Rupp officiating. , 53, of Greensboro Bend died unexpectedly Thursday, March 24, 2005, in Walden. Mr. Willey was born August 31, 1951, in Hardwick, a son of Gordon F. and Winnifred (Anair) Willey. He attended Hardwick public schools and graduated from Hardwick Academy in 1970. On September 11, 1971, he married Deborah Mae Hill in Greensboro Bend. Throughout the years he worked for several businesses including Alfred Anair Construction in Hardwick. He drove truck for Warren Hill Trucking in Greensboro. He installed dairy equipment for Steve Greaves in Greensboro Bend, and he was a heavy equipment operator for Ken Davis in Hardwick. In 1998 he and his wife, Debbie, purchased the Walden General Store. He was a member of the Caspian Cruisers and the Walden ATV Club. He enjoyed the time that he spent with his family, playing cards with his grandchildren, and attending their ballgames. Other enjoyments included snowmobiling, NASCAR races, classic cars, classic car shows, and visiting with customers at the Walden General Store. Survivors include his wife, Debbie, of Greensboro Bend; his mother, Winnifred Patoine, and her husband, Norman, of Woodsville, New Hampshire; two sons, Anthony Willey and his wife, Jacqueline, of Island Pond and Phoenix Willey of Greensboro Bend; four daughters: Peggy Holbrook and her husband, Shane, of Walden, Sasha McCullough and her husband, Hezikiah, of Stannard, and Ma'lesha Willey and Mayly Willey, both of Greensboro Bend; five grandchildren: Dylan and Dakota Holbrook of Walden, Jaden Willey of Island Pond, and Shakiah and Zariah McCullough of Stannard; six brothers: Gordon Willey Jr. of Cambridge, Alfred Willey of Hardwick, Arnold Willey of Morrisville, Dennis Willey of Woodbury, Raymond Willey of Johnson, and Howard Patoine of Woodsville; five sisters: Sandra Willey of Hardwick, Kathleen Rodgers of Ames, Iowa, Christina Willey of Barre, Kathy Patoine of Florida, and Diane Patoine of Woodsville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Gordon F. Willey Sr.; and by a sister, Phyllis Ainsworth. A memorial service was held March 30 at the Greensboro Bend United Methodist Church. , 66, of Bristol, Connecticut, died Monday, March 21, 2005, at the Avon Health Center in Avon, Connecticut, from various internal complications. Mrs. Page was a daughter of the late Carl and Anna Ticehurst. She was born March 19, 1939, in West Glover. She was a member of the Barton United Church, the American Association of Retired Persons, and the Bristol Senior Center, and a life member of the Air Force Sergeants Association Auxiliary. She attended Barton Academy and graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1957. She had worked many years for CBT, Fleet Bank, and Connecticare, Incorporated, in Farmington, Connecticut. She enjoyed her summer cottage at Lake St. Catherine in Wells, and she also enjoyed word search puzzles. She leaves her husband of 41 years, Michael; her brother Carleton Ticehurst of Cromwell, Connecticut; her sister Louise Carlson of West Hartford, Connecticut; her sister and brother-in-law Phyllis and George Weimann of Avon; her brother-in-law Paul J. Page and his wife, Cathy, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, and Sebring, Florida; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Anna (Ticehurst) Weimann; by her stepfather, Ferdinand Weimann; by her brother-in-law Roland Carlson; by her nephew Paul J. Page Jr. of New York City; by aunts and uncles: Henry and Ruth Ford of New York, Florence and Kenneth Merriam of Greenfield, Massachusetts, and Russell and Mary Wheeler of Manchester, Connecticut. , 83, formerly of St. Johnsbury, died peacefully at his home in Ocala, Florida, on Palm Sunday, March 20, 2005. Mr. Noel was born in East Hardwick on November 5, 1921, the son of Alphonse J. and Rose Anna (Beaudoin) Noel. He and Marie Rose Brochu were married August 21, 1941, had 63 wonderful years together, and were blessed with a family of 13 children. He was a compassionate man who loved everything he was blessed with in life. He worked as a farmer in East Hardwick from 1941 to 1948. He moved to Concord in 1948 and operated a farm until 1967. From 1967 to 1987 he operated a rubbish route in the area while working at Vermont Tap and Die until his retirement in 1987. During their retirement years, the Noels spent their winter months in Ocala and the summer months in Barton. He enjoyed playing golf at the Barton Country Club. He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus Sheridan Chapter No. 421, a fourth degree member of the Sheridan Assembly No. 1152, and a member of Benevolent Protective Order of Elks No. 1343. He is survived by his wife, Marie Rose; by 13 children: Philip Noel and his wife, Lucille, of Ocala, Sister Annette Noel of Montréal, Quebec, Lorraine Lamontagne and her husband, Paul, of Colchester, Fernando Noel Jr. and his wife, Grazyna, of Auburn, Massachusetts, Jean Paul Noel and his wife, Sharon, of Lyndonville, Maurice Noel and his wife, Sharon, of Lyndonville, Pauline Prim and her husband, Donald, of Essex Junction, Robert Noel and his wife, Barbara, of Cape May Courthouse, New Jersey, Leonard Noel and his wife, Barbara, of Loudonville, New York, Bernadette Mullally and her husband, Michael, of Colchester, Denis Noel and his wife, Nancy, of North Bennington, Diane McLaren and her husband, Robert, of Essex Junction, and Monica Lewis and her husband, Thomas, of North Reading, Massachusetts; by one sister, Gabrielle Gaboriault, of Grafton, Massachusetts; by 34 grandchildren; and by 24 great-grandchildren. , 73, of Derby Line died peacefully at home with his family at his side on March 26, 2005. Mr. Martin was born April 25, 1931, in Racine, Quebec, a son of Origene and Madona (Fontaine) Martin. On July 5, 1952, he married Solange Deslandes, who survives him. He was an attendant for local rest areas for the state of Vermont. He retired in 1994. He will be remembered as a school bus driver by many students in the area. He helped establish Vermont Heritage spring water in 1989 with his son Danny. He enjoyed maple sugaring and helped many family and friends during the sugaring season. He enjoyed playing cards, celebrating special family events, collecting hats, and playing with his grandchildren. He also loved to keep busy with the water business. He is survived by his wife, Solange Martin, of Derby Line; by two children, Pierrette "Pret" Marsh and her husband, Michael, of Newport and Danny Martin and his wife, Renee, of North Derby. He is survived by grandchildren: Todd, Ryan, and Corey Pronto of Newport and Spencer and Meghan Martin of North Derby; by stepgrandchildren: Greg Marsh and his wife, Jamie, of Troy and Ryan Marsh of Newport; by two great-stepgrandchildren, Hunter and McKenna Marsh, of Troy; and by the following brothers and sisters: Jerome Martin and his wife, Cecile, of Stanstead, Quebec, Albany Martin and his wife, Anita, of St. Valarieu, Quebec, Claire Bouthillette of Granby, Quebec, Adrienne Ladouceure of Valcourt, Quebec, Jeannine Fortin of Highgate, and Angela Renaud of Waterloo, Quebec. , 92, of Barton died at her home on Thursday, March 24, 2005. Mrs. Kettle was born in Coventry on September 30, 1912, a daughter of Fred and Liz (Nault) Joslyn. She worked in the finishing department at Ethan Allen for 25 years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, building houses, and she also enjoyed farm animals. On March 21, 1930, she married Maurice Kettle, who predeceased her in 1977. She is survived by her daughter Dorothy Salazar of Barton; by six grandchildren; by nine great-grandchildren; by two great-great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Herman in 2001; by her son Harold at age three; and by six brothers and sisters. A graveside service will be held in the summer at Pleasantview Cemetery in Orleans with the Reverend Roger Fletcher officiating. , 80, of Derby died peacefully March 27, 2005, in Newport. Mrs. Fortin was born March 24, 1925, in Coaticook, Quebec, a daughter of Armand and Rose Alma (Pivin) Thibeault. She was educated from the convent in Paquetteville, Quebec. On June 26, 1941, she married Emile Fortin, who predeceased her on June 12, 1991. She enjoyed long walks and visits with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Clermont Fortin and his wife, Priscilla, of Derby, Rejeanne Winslow and her husband, Christian, of West Charleston, Danielle Sevigny and her husband, John, of Barre, and Linda Fortin of Essex; by 14 grandchildren; by 24 great-grandchildren; and by a daughter-in-law, Delores Fortin, of Sparta, Wisconsin. She was predeceased by two sons, Guy and Viataur Fortin; by a daughter, Rachel; and by a brother, Laurier Thibeault. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Derby Line. Friends may call from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Curtis-Britch Converse-Rushford Funeral Home on Darling Hill Road in Newport. Spring interment will be in St. Edward's Cemetery. William H. "Billy" Fagan Jr.

, 67, of Fort Payne, Alabama, died February 1, 2005, in Gadsden, Alabama. Mr. Fagan was born October 29, 1937, in Portland, Maine, a son of William and Helen Fagan. He moved to Island Pond in 1951 from Maine when his father, who worked on the railroad, was transferred there. He was a 1956 graduate of Brighton High School. Townspeople remember how he excelled at basketball and baseball. He was a great football fan. He had a great sense of humor, and everyone loved him. After high school he joined the Navy, made a career of it, and retired from the Navy. His career was in training Navy fighter pilots in a simulator. He maintained the simulator as well. After retiring, he joined the Gould Corporation, for several years doing the same job in civilian status. He lived several years in Milton, Florida, then moved to Fort Payne. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty; by two sons and a daughter: David and Angie Fagan of Daphne, Alabama, Sean and Kim Fagan of Milton, and Cheryl and Chris Powell of Milton; by sisters Pat Morse of Virginia and Sandra Worth of Florida; and by 11 grandchildren. Services were held at the Wilson Funeral Home chapel with David Fagan and Chris Powell officiating. He will be greatly missed and remembered by all who knew him.
