, 44, adopted son of Lloyd and Elaine Harvey of Derby, died at the Palm Beach County Hospice Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, on February 29, 2004, following a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Harvey was an outgoing person who loved hunting, motorcycles, and especially the White Mountains region of New Hampshire. He graduated from North Country Union High School in 1978. He spent his early years after graduation working winters at ski areas in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Utah, but his real focus was to become a professional truck driver. He achieved that goal and spent many years criss-crossing the country. He was born in September 4, 1959, in San Antonio, Texas. He is survived by a son, Brenton, of Wasilla, Alaska; by his adopted parents, Lloyd and Elaine Harvey; by sisters Sharon Lucia and her husband, Stephen, of Vergennes and Karen Harvey of Troy, New York; and by brother Scott Harvey of Middlesex. He is also survived by his biological family including his mother, Joyce LaPorte, and her husband, Richard, of Newport, New Hampshire; by father, Carlysle Marbach and his wife, Nita, of San Antonio; by brothers Wade Marbach of Newport, New Hampshire, and Byron Marbach and his wife, Bonnie, of Houston, Texas; and by sisters Jana Cole and her husband, Chris, of West Palm Beach and Jill Dora and her husband, Gary, of Loris, South Carolina. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins survive him as well. Honoring Mr. Harveys wishes, no service was conducted, and his remains were cremated.

, 37, of Newport died on Wednesday, March 10, 2004, in Newport, surrounded by her loving family. Ms. Brown was born on July 5, 1966, the youngest of six born to Floyd and Doris (Austin) Brown. Christine, known to all as "Bug-A-Boo," was a free spirit and lived her life to the fullest. She loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her beautiful daughter, Chelsea "Little Bug" Phillips of Newport, whom she loved very much. Survivors also include her parents, Floyd and Doris Brown, of West Charleston; by four sisters and one brother: Faye Stocker and her husband, Ken, of Newport, Linda Basford of Orleans, Gail Sheltra of Orleans, Blaine Brown and his wife, Pearla, of Irasburg, and Sherry Ingalls and her husband, Dennis, of West Glover; by the following nieces and nephews: Donna and Daniel Basford of Orleans, Dawn Mann and Kay Jay Sheltra of Georgia, Travis Brown of Burlington, Mark Brown of Irasburg, Marcia Brown of Johnson, and Jeremy and Tonya Brown of Newport; by aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins; and by a large circle of friends. Funeral services were held March 13 at Curtis-Britch Converse-Rushford Funeral Home in Newport with the Reverend Roger Fletcher officiating. Alberta Cecile Doyon

, 85, of Brownington died peacefully at home Monday morning, March 15, 2004, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Doyon was born in Kings Croft, Canada, on February 2, 1919, the daughter of Alphonse and Marie Bouffard. She married Nelson Doyon on November 20, 1944, in Stanstead, Quebec. They moved to their first farm that fall in Sutton and stayed until 1946. The Doyons bought their last farm in Brownington in 1968 and lived there with their family until 1977. Together they farmed for 33 years. Mrs. Doyon will be remembered for her loving and caring ways. Anyone who came to the house was always welcomed with a warm smile and delicious meal. She had such a special love and devotion to her grandchildren, who affectionately called her Memére. She was the kind of person who just touched peoples hearts and souls. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children: Elizabeth Doyon of Brownington, Charles Doyon of Brownington, Omer Doyon and his longtime companion, Cheryle, of Orleans, and Margaret and Andre Monette of Cambridge; by her five very special grandchildren: Katherine, Michelle, and Nathan Doyon of Orleans and Adrian and Adam Monette of Cambridge; and by her sister Clemence Lettre of Sherbrooke, Quebec. She was predeceased by her husband, Nelson Doyon, in 1996. Mrs. Doyons celebration of life will be held in the spring and will be with her immediate family. , 90, of Island Pond died March 16, 2004, in Newport. Ms. Welch was born July 17, 1913, in Derby, a daughter of Irving and Carrie (Moulton) Welch. She graduated from Derby Academy. For 73 years, she lived with the Claude Maxwell family, taking care of their children, whom she adored, working on their farm, helping during sugaring season, and haying in the summer. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, puzzle books, reading the newspaper, and spending time with the children. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and by many cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters. Spring graveside services will be held at Derby Center Cemetery with the Reverend Richard Whitehill officiating. , 68, of Craftsbury Common died Monday evening, March 15, 2004, at Copley Hospital in Morrisville. Mr. Schmitt was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on January 13, 1936, the son of Michael A. Schmitt II and Ursula (Mattshinger) Schmitt. He graduated from St. Thomas Military Academy in St. Paul in 1954, Princeton University in 1958, and law school at New York University in 1964. In 1961 he married Joan "Penny" Eldredge, who survives. He was an investment broker from 1964 to 1974 in New York and later purchased the T. Edward Ross Properties in Craftsbury Common. He and his wife operated the Inn on the Common for 29 years, retiring in 2003. He earned the honor of the best of state in wine cellars. He was a member of the Union Club in New York City and held membership in the Mountain View Country Club in Greensboro, where he enjoyed golf and tennis. Besides his wife, Penny, of Craftsbury Common, he leaves a daughter, Elizabeth Terry Schmitt, of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Cathy Wood, and her husband, James, of St. Paul; three nephews; and a niece. A Funeral Mass was celebrated March 20 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Craftsbury with the Reverend Daniel Rupp officiating. Spring interment will be in Craftsbury Common Cemetery. , 92, of Linden, Alabama, formerly of Craftsbury, died Sunday evening, March 14, 2004, at Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma, Alabama. Mrs. Ryan was born in Canada on January 18, 1912, the daughter of Leon and Malvina (Godbout) Renaud. She emigrated to Vermont as a young girl and married Leo Ryan on July 3, 1943, in Hardwick. They made their home in Mill Village in Craftsbury where they farmed until Mr. Ryans disability. She worked in Hardwick as a presser in the former Wear Knitters factory. After her husbands death in 1974, she moved to Alabama to be near her daughter and her family. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Craftsbury and St. Leos Catholic Church in Demopolis, Alabama. She enjoyed crocheting and being with her family. Survivors include her daughter Rita Hill and her husband, Carl, of Linden; granddaughter Tina Etheredge of Livingston, Alabama; grandson Chris Norris of Livingston; four great-grandchildren: Jessica Etheredge and Morgan, Cassidy, and Shelby Norris, all of Livingston; two sisters-in-law, Anne Marie Renaud of Hardwick and Catherine Davis of Albany; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family. She was predeceased by her husband, Leo; by her seven siblings: Mary Anne Cyr, Rosaire Renaud, Laureat "Larry" Renaud, Marie-Ange Laurencelle, Alice Renaud (Sister St. Rita), Gerard Renaud, and Rita Lepore; and by a grandson, Alan Norris. A Funeral Mass was celebrated March 18 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father Mike Augustinowitz celebrating. Spring interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hardwick. , 80, of Island Pond died in Barton on Saturday, March 20, 2004. Mrs. Henry was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, on July 17, 1923, the daughter of Daniel J. and Ruth (Steady) ODowd. In 1941 she married Reginald Henry, who predeceased her in 1982. She was active in the Island Pond Senior Center. She was a past secretary of the Island Pond Historical Society and a member of the St. James Parish and church choir. She and her husband were longtime residents of Island Pond. They enjoyed traveling to see family members, and family gatherings gave them great joy. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed sharing her winnings with family members. She is survived by her children: Leonard Henry and his wife, Martha, of Lewes, Delaware, Timothy Henry and his wife, Dawn, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Regina Foy and her husband, Frederick, of Morrisville, and Christopher Henry and his wife, Susan, of Hinesburg; by her sister Aileen Segale of Rutland; by 11 grandchildren; by seven great-grandchildren; by one niece; and by two nephews. She was predeceased by an infant son Michael. A Memorial Mass was celebrated March 24 at St. James Catholic Church in Island Pond with the Reverend William Morgan officiating. A continuing celebration of the life of Mrs. Henry was held at the St. James Parish Hall. Spring interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery in Island Pond. , 72, of Newport died March 16, 2004, in Lebanon, New Hampshire, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Farrar was born January 14, 1932, in Newport, a son of Ernest and Lillian (Cole) Farrar. On November 15, 1952, he married Carolyn Gilbar, who survives him. He entered the U.S. Army on March 31, 1953, and was honorably discharged on March 31, 1955. He was employed by Rural Community Transportation for six years where he transported individuals for various needs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Farrar, of Newport; by his children: Rick Farrar of Newport, Tina Rolfe and her husband, Barry, of Bristol, New Hampshire, and Gordon Farrar of Newport; by the following grandchildren: Jessie "Becca" Farrar of Alexandria, New Hampshire, Jamie Chateauneuf of Derby Line, Courtney Farrar of Derby Line, and Rebecca Farrar of Newport; by the following brothers and sisters: Ernie Farrar Jr. and his wife, Sherry, of St. Albans, Arthur Farrar and his wife, Irene, of Derby, Irma Bowen of Holland, Deana Monfette and her husband, Alfred, of Newport, and Elsie Abel of Newport; and by several nieces and nephews. , 14, of Barton died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 27, 2004. Kyrsten was born in Concord, Massachusetts, on January 9, 1990, daughter of Wayne Strachan and Phronsie Leal. She grew up in Barton and Orleans and attended school in Barton. She played soccer, enjoyed snowboarding, and loved animals. She was very artistic and loved to write. Her survivors include her father, Wayne Strachan, of Framingham, Massachusetts; her mother, Phronsie Leal, of Vermont; her sisters: Hayley and Summer Merlini of Marlboro, Massachusetts, and Angelica and Althea Payne of Northboro, Massachusetts; her grandparents Margaret Strachan of Arizona, Bud Strachan of Groton, Massachusetts, Freda and Roger Davis of Jericho, and Peggy Leal of Barton; and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her grandfather Thomas Leal. Funeral services will be held at Badger Funeral Home in Littleton, Massachusetts, on Friday, April 2, at noon. Visiting hours will be Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Littleton.

, 97, of East Charleston died peacefully surrounded by his loving family in Newport on Thursday, March 25, 2004. Mr. Moulton was born in East Charleston on August 11, 1906, the son of Alvin and Ethel (Cargill) Moulton. He owned and operated a dairy farm in East Charleston for many years and hauled milk for 41 years. He loved farming, trucking, sugaring, and horses. After his retirement he enjoyed gardening and loved going to church. On June 12, 1926, he married Bertha Hudson, who predeceased him on August 1, 1999. He is survived by his children: Marjorie Balch and her husband, Harold, of Port Orange, Florida, Marilyn Hardy of Derby Line, Charlene Maxwell and her husband, Robert, of Island Pond, Pearl Wright and her husband, Stanley, of Laurel, Montana, Connie Bacik and her husband, Donald, of Waterbury, Connecticut, Dale Moulton and his wife, Jane, of West Charleston, and Ronald Moulton and his wife, Judy, of East Charleston; by his sister Mable Carr of Corning, Iowa; by his brother Neil Moulton of Massachusetts; by 27 grandchildren; and by several great-grandchildren; and by daughter-in-law Joyce Moulton. , 67, of Island Pond died in St. Johnsbury on Thursday, March 25, 2004, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Mr. Knox was born in Torrington, Connecticut, on May 16, 1936. He worked as a wrecker driver for the Brighton Garage for 17 years, retiring in 1999. He enjoyed making model cars, watching NASCAR races, and spending time with his family. On October 2, 1994, he married Linda Hawkins, who survives him. He is also survived by his children Robert Knox and Megan Knox, both of Island Pond; by his stepchildren: Isaac Hunt and his friend, Barbara Corey, of Island Pond, Mary Hunt of Island Pond, and David Hunt and his wife, Danielle, of Derby Line; by his grandchildren: Brendon Hunt, Brittany Hunt, Jacob Hunt; and Rebecca Greenleaf; and by nieces and nephews. She was a member of the United Church of Newport and the North Country Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed caring for her family. On September 2, 1956, she married Anthony Fedele, who predeceased her in 1995. , 73, of North Troy died at his home on Wednesday, March 24, 2004. Mr. Booth was born in Derby on July 5, 1930, the son of Southland and Freda (Westover) Booth. On October 5, 1951, he married Dorothy C. Nutting, who survives him. He worked at the veneer mill in North Troy for 18 years before going to work for Indian Head Plywood for over 20 years, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed the outdoors: hunting, fishing, trapping, ice fishing, and four-wheeling. He did a lot of carpentry after retirement to keep himself busy and out of his wifes hair. The couple always had a big garden that they both worked in to provide for the family and extended family. He was a member of Masonic Order Troy Union Lodge No. 16 F&AM for over 40 years. Besides his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by his sons Robert Booth and his wife, Rachel, of Irasburg and Kenneth Booth and his wife, Lois, of North Troy; by his grandchildren: Cathy Williams and her husband, Dave, of Newport, Kenneth Booth Jr. and Rhonda Smith of North Troy, Robert Booth Jr. and Michelle Smith of Irasburg, Jeremy Booth and his wife, Angie, of North Troy, Michael Booth of Irasburg, Shawn Booth of Irasburg, and Heidie Booth of North Troy; by his brother Bruce Booth of Texas; by his sister Edna Stuart and her husband, Russell, of Barre; by five great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews. , 69, of Bristol, Connecticut, husband of Patricia "Patrick" Blouin, died Monday, March 22, 2004, at Bristol Hospital. Born in Barton on January 25, 1935, a son of the late Albert and Pearl (Johnson), Mr. Blouin lived in Bristol for many years. He retired form Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in Southington, Connecticut, in 1996 after 31 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Diana Penna of Wailuka, Hawaii, and Laurie Aldrich of Bristol; two sisters, Betty Fontaine of Barton and Beverly Plante and her friend, John Sawe, of Bristol; six grandchildren: Aaron, Helen, Angela, and Tricia Penna and Thomas and Krista Aldrich; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Nancy and Ben Urso of Bristol. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Blouin. The funeral and visitation hours are private. Burial with military honors will be in Peacedale Cemetery in Bristol.
