William Dustin "Dusty" White Jr.

, 91, a Vermont educator for over 40 years, died on April 2, 2004, of natural causes at Newport Health Care Center, where he has resided for the past two years. Mr. White was born in 1912 in Ryegate and was a resident of Orleans County for the past 51 years. He served as principal of Orleans High School from 1953 to 1957, as superintendent of schools for the Orleans Northwest District from 1957 to 1966, and as assistant superintendent of schools for the North Country Union District until his retirement in 1976. His teaching career began in 1936 at Groton High School and Richmond High School (1937-'39). Thereafter he both taught and served as principal at Orwell (1940-'43), Jericho (1943-'47), and Hinesburg (1947-'53). In 1941 he married Ruth Vincelette of St. Albans, who predeceased him in 1990. Mrs. White was also an educator in Vermont public schools for over 30 years. He is survived by his daughter Sandra White Alexander of Bremerton, Washington; by his son-in-law Stephen Alexander of Bremerton; by four grandchildren: William Nathan Alexander, a lecturer in history and English at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Rachel Ruth Alexander, an attorney, and her husband, Michael, of Phoenix, Arizona, Andrew Maynard Alexander, an attorney in McLean, Virginia, and Sarah Louise Alexander, a children's pastor in Edmonton, Alberta; and by two great-grandchildren, Elisa Alexander and Alexander Lockwood. His surviving siblings include Lucille White of Burlington, the Reverend Dwight White of Ryegate Corner, and Betty White Sykes of Springfield. He was predeceased by his parents, William Dustin White and Ethel Taplin White, of Ryegate Corner; and by his brothers Dexter, Reginald, and Hazen. He was a founding board member of Northeast Kingdom Mental Health in 1963, retiring from the board in 1994. He was active from 1967 to 2002 with the Newport Rotary Club, serving one year as its president. He was recently honored by the city of Newport for his 25 years of service on the Newport Zoning Board of Adjustment. After his retirement, he served on the Newport City Elementary School Board. He was chairman of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program tax assistance service for over 17 years, using his skill in math to help seniors fill out their tax forms. He was past president of the Orleans County Historical Society and served on the Goodrich Memorial Library Board for a number of years. In appreciation for the good care Ruth White received from the local home health agency, he served on that board and volunteered for the local cancer organization. He was a member of the Orleans Country Retired Teachers Association. He served as president of the Vermont State Retired Teachers Association in 1983. He could always be found on Sunday mornings at the United Church of Newport, where he became a member in 1967 and served in many leadership positions. He was a faithful servant of his savior, Jesus Christ, and was always interested in the church's ministries. Before his stroke in 1995 he was active in helping the church raise money for an elevator. He graduated from the University of Vermont with a bachelor of science in 1935 and received a master's in education in 1940. He was not only a top scholar, but was active in extra-curricular activities. He was a member of both the UVM track and cross-country teams, editor of The Cynic, and a member of Lambda Iota fraternity and the Vermont Christian Association. He loved learning and spent many free moments reading in the UVM library. As an educator, he was a role model, sharing his enthusiasm for books and learning with his students, helping many to realize the value of education, hard work, and character. As a citizen, he loved to be out in the community. He genuinely enjoyed people, and his credo could well be expressed by the plaque on his living room wall which read, "Let me live in a house by the side of the road and be a friend to man." Finally, as a father and grandfather, he was the best: good, kind, wise, patient, and giving. With his wonderful sense of humor, he encouraged his whole family and they will miss him. A celebration of Mr. White's life was held at the United Church of Newport April 10 with the Reverend Martha Peck, the Reverend Joy Toll-Chandler, and the Reverend Dwight White officiating. Ross W. Whipple

, 84, of Newport died in Largo, Florida, on Friday, April 2, 2004. r. Whipple was born on July 7, 1919, in Newport Center, the son of Don and Zetta (Armstrong) Whipple. He attended schools in Newport Center, Irasburg, Newbury, and Barre and graduated from Rutland High School in 1938. Before coming to Newport in 1956, he worked various jobs in St. Johnsbury, Barre, Montpelier, and Burlington. In 1940 he married Lillian M. Marineau in Montpelier. She predeceased him in June 2003. When he and his wife came to Newport they owned a television and chainsaw business on Spring Street, and in 1959 opened a television-furniture store on Union Street with Forrest Rice as their partner. Ill health forced him to retire in 1973. He was a very civic-minded person and was involved in many community organizations and spearheaded many different events. He was a member of Montpelier Elks No. 924 from 1949 to 1960, when he instituted the thirteenth Elks Lodge in the state in Newport. He was its first exalted ruler. He was also a past district deputy grand exalted ruler north. He was a member of Memphremagog Lodge No. 65 F&AM and a past member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the first Vermont Environmental Commission for three years and was also one of the first class of the Vermont State Police Auxiliary. He organized two regattas that were held on the lake from Prouty Beach, which included boat racers, trick water skiers, and parachutists. He was extremely active at the Newport State Airport and ran three very successful air shows in the mid to late 60s. He is survived by his children: Val Whipple and his wife, Lorraine, of Newport, Lee Whipple of South Hero, and Linda Clark and her husband, Darrel, of Largo; by his grandchildren: Don Whipple and his wife, Louise, of Newport and their children Jonathan and Sydney, Chris Whipple and his wife, Betsy, of Colchester, Todd Whipple of Newport, Tamara Sterling and her husband, Jon, of Woodstock and their children: Justin, Chelsea, and Seth, Tracey Landry and her husband, David, of Wilder and their children Briana and Arica, Cory Clark and his wife, Kelly, of Loudon, New Hampshire, Sara Whipple of Oregon, and Scott Whipple of Burlington; and by a special granddaughter, Nikole Brainard and her husband, Lindsey, and their children Maya and Chase. He is also survived by his sisters Helen Simino of Burlington, Donna Krupp of St. Albans, and Leah Hansen and her husband, Ken, of Piermont, New Hampshire; and by several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mr. Whipple's life will be held Saturday, April 10, at Curtis-Britch Converse-Rushford Funeral Home on Darling Hill Road in Newport at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Carl Shoemaker officiating. , 81, of Barton died in Newport on Thursday, April 1, 2004. Mr. Waldron was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, on February 12, 1923, the son of Everett and Florence (Perry) Waldron. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He graduated from Bentley School of Accounting and Finance in 1951. After moving to Barton from Haverhill in 1979, he worked as an accountant for Northeast Kingdom Community Action. He was a member of the Masonic Merrimack Lodge in Haverhill. On July 13, 1947, he married Arline Bryant, who survives him. He is also survived by his children Valerie Barczak and her husband, Michael, of Haverhill and Donald Waldron of Helena, Montana; by his grandchildren Michaela Barczak and Amanda Waldron; and by his brothers Charles Waldron of Norfolk, Virginia, and Thomas Waldron of Lawrence, Massachusetts. He was predeceased by his brother Harry; and by his sisters Leslie and Clara. Funeral services were held April 6 at Barton United Church with the Reverend Michael Caldwell officiating. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 8, at the First Church of Christ in Bradford, Massachusetts, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Bradford. , 81, of Barton died at her home on Thursday, April 1, 2004. Mrs. Stevens was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, on July 6, 1922, the daughter of Eugene and Josephine (Fleury) Lussier. On August 24, 1946, she married Howard Stevens Sr., who predeceased her on October 5, 1997. Together they owned and operated a farm in West Glover for many years. She was a member of the Maple Leaf Christmas Club, the West Glover Willing Workers, and St. Paul's Catholic Church in Barton. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, baking, and cooking. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren, and she was anxiously awaiting the birth of her first great-grandchild. She is survived by her children: Howard Stevens Jr. and his wife, Gloriann, of Barton, Avon Stevens of Brownington, Cedric Stevens and his wife, Allyssa, of Burlington, Wanita Thompson and her husband, David, of Barton, and Alan Stevens and his wife, Carol, of St. Johnsbury; and by her grandchildren: Donna, Erika, Laurie, Erin, William, Meghann, Derek, Craig, and Benjamin. She was predeceased by her son, Michael; by her brothers Leonard and Edward Lussier; and by her sisters Margaret Gravel and Rena Talbot. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 5 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Barton with the Reverend Daniel Rupp and the Reverend Pat Forman officiating. , 85, of Barton died in Newport on Saturday, April 3, 2004. Mrs. Perry was born on April 18, 1918, in Manchester, New Hampshire, the daughter of Wilfred and Virginia (Gregorie) Descheneaux. After graduating from high school, she trained to become a registered nurse at Littleton Memorial Hospital, graduating in 1939. She married Roland Perry on August 30, 1941. He predeceased her in 1974. She owned and operated Roland's Steakhouse with her husband for 15 years in Southington, Connecticut. She also worked as a registered nurse with handicapped children at the Meriden-Wallingford Association for several years in Meriden, Connecticut. While living in Barton she enjoyed helping her daughter Carol Hadvab and her husband, Michael, with their business, 5-16 Pizzaria in Barton. She was also active with the Barton senior center and was a past member of the Habranian Club (Iris Club) and the Meriden-Wallingford Society. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Barton Post No. 76. Survivors are her daughter Carol Hadvab and her husband, Michael, of Barton; her son Ronald Perry Sr. and his wife, Susan, of Meriden; four grandchildren: Kimberly Hall and her husband, Brian, Ronald Perry Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Canton, Connecticut, Matthew Hadvab and his wife, Katie, of Barton, and Michael Hadvab and his wife, Kathy, of Meriden; six great-grandchildren: Meagan and Michael Hadvab of Meriden, Kaliegh Hadvab of Barton, Spencer Hadvab, and Ian and Riley Hall; by her sisters Pauline Demers and Doris Forcier, both of Manchester, New Hampshire; her brother George Descheneaux of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews. , 87, of North Troy died in Newport on Monday, April 5, 2004. Mrs. Gallup was born in Jay on October 28, 1916, the daughter of Edward and Sarah (Morse) Sargent. She worked as a secretary for Dr. Durgin for 20 years. On June 12, 1939, she married Walter Gallup, who predeceased her on June 18, 1999. She and her husband spent all of their time together and were very devoted to their family. She enjoyed baking, cooking, and playing bingo. She is survived by her son Gary Gallup of Dayton, Ohio; by her daughter Gail Reed of North Troy; by her daughter-in-law Deborah Murphy of Jay; by her grandchildren: Michelle, Brent, Kirsten, Tracy, and Kristy; by her great-grandchildren: Miranda, Mariah, Manning, Zachary, Benjamin, and Seth; by her sisters Ruby Mead of Coventry and Dale Cota of Jay; and by nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Gaylord; and by her brothers Hazelton and Hugh Sargent. Doctor Sidney Matthew Martin

, 88, of Chateaugay, New York, died on Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, New York. Mr. Martin was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 15, 1915, to Anna Belle Dodds and John Hollis Martin. He graduated from Danvers High School in Massachusetts in 1933. The following year he returned to his uncle Tom Person's farm in Chateaugay and attended Chateaugay High for one year before enrolling in Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, as a veterinary student. Dr. Martin graduated from Cornell in 1939 with a degree in veterinary medicine. During World War II, he worked in Riverhead, Long Island, New York, in a veterinary practice and as an inspector for the Suffolk County Health Department. It was here he met his future wife, Mary Catherine McDonough. They were married in Central Islip, New York, on October 8, 1944. The marriage ended in divorce. After the war, the Martins moved to Chateaugay, where he entered into a partnership with Dr. J.D. Sweet, called Sweet and Martin, Veterinarians. After Dr. Sweet retired, he formed a partnership with Dr. Peter Neveu, at North Franklin Veterinary Services. The two built a new hospital west of the village in 1972. He practiced there for many years and was well-known throughout the North Country for his skills and compassion with animals and his great support of farmers and agriculture. He retired from active practice in 1980. He continued to assist a number of farmers with their fertility programs for many years after. It was at this point in his life that he started to travel the world with his good friend and fellow traveler, Rada Porter. The two of them enjoyed making friends and visiting countries the world over. They also spent many happy hours at Dr. Martin's camp on the St. Lawrence River in Quebec. He was an active member of the Burke Adult Center, devoting time to the Meals on Wheels program and serving on its board of directors. He was a retired member of the Chateaugay Fire Department, a 55-year member of Frontier Lodge No. 517, Free and Accepted Masons in Chateaugay, and a former member of the Chateaugay Fish and Game Club. He served on the executive board of the New York State Veterinary Medical Association and inspected animal hospitals around New York State for Certification in the American Animal Hospital Association. He served on the Chateaugay School Board and Franklin County, New York, Cooperative Extension Board. He was a longtime member of the Northern New York Veterinary Medical Society. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Ira Slate, of Derry, New Hampshire. Survivors include three daughters: Elizabeth Guerin of Chateaugay and her sons, Nathan and Ian; Susan and Carl Taylor of Derby and her daughter Dawn Perry and husband, Everett, of Derby and their children: Jessica, Cassandra, Ethan, Isaiah, and Alexander; and Sarah Curtin and her husband, Danny, of Chazy, New York, and their children Jonah and Daniel Peter. He is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Linda Martin, of Chateaugay and their three sons: Jake, Ben, and Silas. Funeral services were held at the Chateaugay Methodist Church on Saturday with the Reverend Eleanor Bellows officiating, assisted by the Reverend John Demo of St. Patrick's Church in Chateaugay and Monsignor Denis Duprey of Malone Catholic Parishes. Family remarks were given by his daughter Susan Taylor and his son-in-law Danny Curtain. The poem "O Captain, My Captain" was read by his grandson Nathan Guerin. Dr. Martin's favorite charities were the Burke Adult Center in Burke, New York, the Chateaugay Memorial Library, and the Chateaugay Fire Department.

, 69, of Orleans died suddenly at his home on Sunday, April 4, 2004. Mr. Markwell was born in Heathton, Quebec, on November 17, 1934, the son of Alpha Raymond and Grace May (Washburn) Markwell. He was a dairy farmer until 1973, at which time he went to work at Ethan Allen, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed woodworking and mechanics. He loved his family and enjoyed helping his family and friends. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren. On June 9, 1956 he married Edna Keeble, who predeceased him on September 2, 1999. , 63, a longtime resident of Island Pond, died peacefully in his sleep Saturday, April 10, in Island Pond. Mr. Lund was born in Hanover, New Hampshire, on April 5, 1941, the son of Harry and Emma (Cousineaux) Lund. Throughout his lifetime he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved woodworking and working on automobiles. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957 to 1961. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Roberta (Redmond) Lund; and by the following children: Dean Lund and family, Dana Lund and his wife, Ellen, of White River Junction, Robert Lund and his friend, Tanya Spaulding, of Island Pond, Stanley A. Lund Jr. and his fiancée, Darcy White, of Berlin, Penny Stevens of Ohio, Kathleen Lund of South Royalton, and Holly Ross and her husband, David, of Newport; by 14 grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews. , 74, of Derby died at his home on Tuesday, April 6, 2004. Mr. Hodgdon was born in Orange, Connecticut, on April 9, 1929, the son of Archie and Mildred (Leno) Hodgdon. He was a former member of the Vermont National Guard and a member of the Newport Nazarene Church. He worked in maintenance at Newport Plastics, retiring in 1992. He loved to do carpentry and had his own wood shop at home. On August 8, 1953, he married Laura E. Monfette, who survives him. He is also survived by his children Wanda Simpson and her husband, Dennis, of Barton and Bonnie Sheets and her husband, Michael, of Derby; by his grandchildren: Arion Simpson, Venus Simpson, Athena Simpson, and Jennifer Sheets; by his great-grandchildren: Brianna, Krista, Amanda, Ryan, Angel, Trent, Sierra, and Kimberly; by his brothers Archie Hodgdon of Hardwick and Robert Hodgdon of Alaska; by his sister Mary Sylvester of Newport; and by several nieces and nephews. Manuel D. "Manny" Vigario Sr.

, 65, of Newport died at his home on Tuesday, April 13, 2004, after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Vigario was born in East Meadow, Long Island, New York, on September 27, 1938, the son of the late Feliciano and Margaret (Patrick) Vigario. He lived in Brownington with his family. In 1956 he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served for three years. Later he moved to Massachusetts, where he worked for 13 years at Westboro State Hospital. Eventually he moved back to Barton, where he started to deal in old stoves, and from there he got to deal and learn about the antiques business. He moved to Newport in the early 1970s. His trademark was a big smile. He had a great appreciation for life and loved his family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards and horseshoes, and he loved to talk about his life experiences. He will be missed by all. He is survived by his son Manuel D. Vigario Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona; by his daughter Lisa M. , 74, of Hyde Park died peacefully April 18, 2004, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Morissette was born in Scotstown, Quebec, Canada, on April 6, 1930, the son of Joseph and Annie (Fleury) Morissette. He served in the Vietnam and Korean wars and retired from the U.S. Army with full military honors in 1978. He was awarded and decorated with several medals, badges, and commendations that included Good Conduct, Army of Occupation, National Defense, and Vietnam, Korean, and Japan service medals. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing bocce ball, and traveling to Florida for the winters with his wife. He had a special relationship with all of nature's animals. He is survived by his loving, dedicated, devoted wife, Laura (Webb) Morissette; by his daughter Audrey Lindgren and her husband, Jeff, of Johnson; by his son Harvey Morissette and his wife, Kathie Benjamin, of Morgan; by grandchildren: Chad Lindgren and his wife, Samantha, of Eden, Alicia Morissette of Johnson, Amanda Morissette of East Charleston, and grandson by marriage Jordan Benjamin of Scotsdale, Arizona; by great-grandchildren Kelsey and Ryan Lindgren of Eden; by a sister, Joanne Desbiens, of Schenectady, New York; by a sister-in-law, Shirley Dunn, and her husband, Rudolph, of North Troy; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings: Simone, Ernest, and Oscar. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements will be made at the convenience of the family. , 73, of Santee, California, died April 12, 2004. Mrs. Ingalls was born October 14, 1930, in Marrysville, Utah. She was a homemaker. Family members of her's live in Barton. She is survived by her devoted husband, Harlow Decker Ingalls; by her son Richard Martin Ingalls; by grandsons: Richard James Ingalls, Jonathon Eric Ingalls, and Christopher Martin Ingalls; by granddaughter Marina Klimova Ingalls; by great-grandson Andrew Harlow Ingalls; and by dearly loved ones: Scott, Michelle, Trevor, Tyler, Stephanie, Barbara, and Sheila.

, 83, of Greensboro died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 18, 2004, at Copley Hospital in Morrisville. Mrs. Hall was born May 15, 1920, in Otisfield, Maine, the daughter of the late Ivari and Agda (Hoglund) Viitala. She attended Otisfield public schools. Following her education she traveled and was a nanny for several families before relocating to Greensboro in the late 1940s. She was employed as a cook for several institutions including Sterling school in Craftsbury, Stannard school, Hardwick Hospital, Greensboro Nursing Home, and the Caspian Area Center in Greensboro Bend. She retired in 2001. She married Frederick William Hall on May 15, 1948. She was a member of Caspian Lake Grange No. 382, and Pomona Grange No. 15. She enjoyed cooking, reading, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling, and gardening. She will be remembered as a giver to society, caring for anyone who needed assistance. Survivors include a son, Daryl Hall, of Greensboro; two daughters, Yolanda Abbott of Woodbury and Valdine Hall of Greensboro; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Carlo Viitala, of Harrison, Maine; three sisters: Anne Lowell of Windham, Maine, Lida Brackett of Bridgton, Maine, and Nancy Kirkpatrick of Wyalusing, Pennsylvania; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred Hall; by a son, Bruce F. Hall; by a daughter, Wanda Hall; by a brother, Kenneth Viitala, and by a sister, Edna Wiley. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 28, at 1 p.m. in the Stannard Cemetery with the Reverend Alden Launer officiating. Catherine E. (Weldon) Dyer

, 94, of St. Johnsbury died peacefully at her residence with her children by her side early Monday afternoon, April 12, 2004, after a week's illness. Mrs. Dyer was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts, on June 26, 1909, the daughter of Charles and Annie C. (Blakney) Weldon. She married Daniel Dyer on July 22, 1933, and they had 68 wonderful years together, many of those years residing on Clay Hill. He died July 24, 2001. She received a bachelor of arts in French and Spanish from Boston University in 1930 and was awarded with membership into Phi Beta Kappa. She did her graduate work in library science at the University of Vermont. She was an assistant school librarian at St. Johnsbury Academy from 1968 to 1981. Previously she had served as district secretary for the Essex-Caledonia school district. She began her teaching career in 1931 at Craftsbury Academy as a foreign language teacher. She was a longtime trustee of the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum and served as a docent for the art gallery there. She was affiliated with Gamma Phi Beta sorority, the St. Johnsbury College Club, Conversation Circle, Caledonia-South Essex Retired Teachers Association, and the St. Johnsbury chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons. Politically she was very anti-war and a staunch supporter of women's and minorities' rights. Music and books enriched her life right up through her last few days. The piano was a lifelong companion, and she played for productions throughout her life, from the days of playing for silent movies up through several Academy musical productions. She was also able to play by ear. Her musical talent seems to be especially passed on to the generation of her great-grandchildren. She is survived by one son, Barry James Dyer, and his wife, Kay (Coburn), of Sun City Center, Florida; by one daughter, Clare Louise Dyer, of Clearwater, Florida; by daughter-in-law Merrie Ellen (Sanborn) Dyer of Cazenovia, New York; by seven grandchildren: Margaret Moore Dyer, Daniel Coburn Dyer, Laura Allendorf Fenninger and her husband, Randy, Jeanne Allendorf Alexander and her husband, Peter, Grant Michael Allendorf and his wife, Susan, Thomas Brian Dyer and his wife, Kristi, and Jason Streeter Dyer; by six great-grandchildren: Ryan and Danielle Allendorf, John and Thomas Fenninger, and Catherine and Elizabeth Alexander; and by one nephew, Douglas Welden, and his wife, Jane, and their daughters Joan and Katie of Attleboro, Massachusetts. Amongst many dear friends was a special friend of she and her husband, Frank B. Easton Jr. of Corinth. She was predeceased by her son Brian in 1987; and by her only brother, Roland Weldon, and his wife, Agnes. With a family get-together already planned on the weekend of her birthday, memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, June 26, at 2 p.m., at Sayles Funeral Home in St. Johnsbury. Refreshments will follow at the St. Johnsbury House immediately after the memorial service. Adrienne (Vachon) Duchesneau

, 95, died on Sunday, April 18, 2004, after a full, long, happy, life sharing her love as a talented, generous, and creative homemaker. Mrs. Duchesneau was born in St. Valerien, Quebec, on June 16, 1908, and came to Manchester, New Hampshire, in 1915 and attended parochial school there. She was one of 14 children born to George and Rosina (Boulay) Vachon. She married Eugene Duchesneau in 1929. He predeceased her in 1992. They spent their early married years in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts, prior to relocating to Barton on the family farm in 1945. They spent their retirement years in Barton until she moved to Michaud Manor in Derby Line in 1994. Mrs. Duchesneau, affectionately known as Memere, is leaving all those lives she touched with a legacy of a deep faith, staunch devotion to St. Joseph, creativity, boundless energy, enthusiasm, love for her large family, and concern for those in need. She served the parishes in which she resided in various volunteer capacities, and enjoyed her years teaching religious education classes at St. Paul's Parish in Barton. Her family and friends will remember her lovely singing voice, singing verse after verse of hymns and songs she loved all the way to her eternal resting place. She wished to be remembered as being grateful to God for the blessings which enriched her life as a wife, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother so loving and beloved. She leaves four children: Sister Irene Duchesneau, a religious hospitaller of St. Joseph at the Fanny Allen Convent, Roland and his wife, Alice, of Palm City, Florida, Claire Vachon and her husband, Roland, of Venice, Florida, and Annette Mulcahy and her husband, Thomas, of Colchester. She also leaves ten grandchildren: Mark, Philip, David, and Annette Duchesneau, Lorraine Walker, Susan Rice, Michael Vachon, Sean Mulcahy, Colleen (Mulcahy) Raiche, and Kathleen (Mulcahy) Weinheimer; by 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She leaves one surviving sister, Lea Nadeau of Westerly, Rhode Island. Friends are invited to pay their respects from 10 to 11 a.m. at Curtis-Britch Converse-Rushford Funeral Home in Barton on Thursday, April 22. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Barton at 11:30 a.m. April 22. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to COTS, P.O. , 91, of Plattsburgh, New York, died in Newport on Tuesday, April 13, 2004. Mr. Moore was born in Danville on January 19, 1913, the son of Benjamin H. and Mary Jane (Peak) Moore. He worked as a plant man at Exxon in Burlington for over 30 years, retiring in 1975. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an avid boater. He also loved sports and enjoyed playing bridge and keeping up with current events. On August 18, 1937, he married Beatrice Girdler, who survives him. He is also survived by his children: David H. Moore and his wife, Anne, of Derby, Virginia Jane Barnewall and her husband, John, of Chateaugay, New York, and Christina Ann Allen and her husband, James, of Aurora, Colorado; by his grandchildren Derek Moore and his friend, Dawn, of Derby and Ryan Moore and his wife, Angie, of Derby; and by his great-grandson Matthew Moore of Derby. Private funeral services will be held at a later date.
