, 37, of 263 Mountain View Ave., Lyndonville, Vt., passed away Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury, Vt. Rick was born April 20, 1967, the son of Clarence "Big Smitty" Smith and Karlene (Boardman) Smith. He attended school in the town of Lyndon and graduated from Lyndon Institute, Class of 1986. He owned Smitty's Fire Wood, coached his son's T-Ball team, enjoyed spending time with family and friends at camp, enjoyed boating, demolition derby, guns and poker. He is survived by his wife, Lori (Noyes) Smith of Lyndonville; his two children, Taylor and Sydney Smith; his mother, Karlene (Boardman) Smith of Glover, Vt.; his brothers, Smitty and his wife Brenda Smith of Wheelock, Vt., and Jeffrey and his wife Shelly Smith, of Sutton, Vt.; his sisters, Wendy and her husband Chris Griffin of Hingham, Mass.; and Sherri Smith of Bellflower, Calif.; parents-in-law, Phillip and Sybol Noyes of Ganesvoort, N.Y.; sister-in-law Kimberly and her husband Duane Drew of South Glens Falls, N.Y.; his wife's maternal grandmother, Alberta Tanner of Wheelock; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his father, "Big Smitty" Smith. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the First Congregational Church of Lyndonville Sunday, July 25, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Barbara Dwyer officiating. Burial will be in the Lyndon Center Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at the home of Steve and Carolyn Elliott on Vail Hill in Lyndonville. , 80, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. Born July 4, 1924, in Whitefield, N.H., she was the daughter of Donald and Laura (Paquette) Keach. Marjorie graduated from Littleton High School and in 1942 she married Shirley Waldo Bunnell in Concord. He predeceased her in September of 1987. Marjorie's life was her family; they will miss her dearly. Marjorie is survived by four children: Darlina Bunnell Norrie and her husband Bradley of Concord, Reginald Bunnell and his wife Debra of Granby, Lynette Bunnell Merchant and her husband William Sr., Edward Bunnell and his wife Janet, a daughter-in-law Pamela Bunnell, all of Concord; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother Donald Keach Jr.; a sister Dorris Keach Berry, both of Massachusetts. She was predeceased by her son Douglas Bunnell Sr., and by her sister Ruth Keach Missico. At Marjorie's request there will be no services or calling hours. The family will receive friends Sunday, Aug. 1, at 12 p.m. at the Breezy Meadows Campground for a time of fellowship and a barbecue. , 53, of 198 Crane St., died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at Country Village Health Care Center, Lancaster, N.H. after a lengthy illness. Whitney was born in Gray, Maine, Sept. 10, 1950, the son of Harold & Eva (Pelletier) Whitney. He had lived in Littleton for the past 13 years. He was a member of the White Mountain Antique Car Club. Family members include his wife Laverne Whitney of Littleton; three sons, Rickey Whitney, Freddie Whitney and Sherman Eastton of Chowchilla, Calif., and one daughter, Evelyn Eastton of Littleton; one brother, Nathan McMinn of Gray, Maine, and one sister, Lancey Wheaton of Bangor, Maine; and several nieces and nephews. , 99, a long-time resident of Craftsbury, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at the home of her daughter, Marcelle Houde, in St. Johnsbury, where she had been making her home. She was born in Sabrevoie, Quebec, Aug. 13, 1904, the daughter of Heli and Anna (Courville) Boulais. She attended school in Canada and moved to Vermont in 1919 with her family. She was married to Georges L. Menard July 2, 1925, and together they farmed on West Hill in Craftsbury. He died in 1972. Diana was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Craftsbury and a member of the Altar Society. She leaves five sons, Lionel Menard and his wife Jeanette of Southington, Conn., Arthur Menard and his wife Alice of Craftsbury, Ivan Menard of Southington, Conn., Leo Menard and his wife Sharleen of Middletown, Conn., and Armand Menard and his wife Mollie of Wallingford, Conn.; six daughters, Denise Bushy of Meriden, Conn., Marthe Valcour and her husband Andre of Morrisville, Cecile Valcour of Morrisville, Marie Yaeger and her husband Patrick of North Middlesex, Marcelle Houde and her husband Raoul of St. Johnsbury, and Therese Ferguson and her husband John of Palm Harbor, Fla.; one brother, Cyril Boulais of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; 78 grandchildren; and 113 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Rejeanne Menard of Newington, Conn. She was predeceased by her husband, Georges; and two sons, Jean Menard and Guy Menard; and a brother, Gerard Boulais. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, July 26, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Craftsbury by her grandson, the Rev. Paul Houde. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Hardwick. , 81, of Jefferson Road, Whitefield, N.H., passed away at his home July 20, 2004. A native of Whitefield, Roland was born a son to Cleophas A. and Esther (Smith) Dorr Nov. 11, 1922. He attended area schools and graduated from Whitefield High School. Roland joined the Navy Oct. 8, 1943, from his employment at Todd-Bath Shipbuilding Co. of South Portland, Maine. After basic training at NTS, Newport, R.I., he was assigned to the Pre-Commissioning Detail of the USS Hancock CV-19 in the Communications Division. He participated in all actions of the ship from commissioning to 1st decommissioning in Bremerton, Wash., including two trips under Magic Carpet. He was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation Medal, the American Defense Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal (5 stars), the Philippine Liberation Medal (2 stars) and Philippine Presidential Unit Citation Medal. Any and all of the many battles were memorable. He was discharged in May 1946 and in October 1946 was married to Pauline Plante. Roland was commissioned by President Eisenhower in March 1959 as postmaster of Littleton, N.H., and was transferred to postmaster in Lancaster, N.H., in 1975. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in April 1984. Since retirement he has operated a shop at his home known as Strawberry Acre Crafts, building clocks and many other items. Surviving family members include one daughter, Anita Dorr Swartz of Livingston, Texas; one brother, James C. Dorr of Sarasota, Fla.; two sisters, Delephine M. Clough of Meredith, N.H., and Dorothy E. Dorr of Whitefield, N.H.; a stepmother, Ellen Dorr of Whitefield, N.H.; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 27, at 11 a.m., at the Pillsbury Funeral Home, 101 Union St., Littleton, N.H., with the Rev. Lyn McIntosh officiating. , 82, of Camp Street, Barre, Vt., died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. Born Sept. 7, 1921, in Hillsdale, N.J., he was the son of Stanford and Kathryn (Haenlin) White Sr. He graduated from Glen Cove, N.Y., High School in 1939. He graduated from Keene, N.H., Teachers College in 1951. During World War II he served as an aviation machinist mate in the United States Navy in Pensacola, Fla., and aboard an aircraft carrier in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of Operations. On Nov. 21, 1953, he married Marilyn "Lynn" Thompson in St. Johnsbury. Following their marriage, they lived in New Milford, Conn.; Riverhead, Long Island; and since 1970, in Barre. For many years he was an industrial arts teacher as well as a driver's education teacher, retiring from Spaulding High School faculty in 1984. He enjoyed sailing and racing sailboats that he had built, piloting his own plane, coaching peewee and junior varsity hockey at Spaulding High School as well as being varsity hockey coach at Montpelier High School, designing and building homes, and being a school bus driver. A member of the Barre Congregational Church, he was serving on the ushering committee at the time of his death. Survivors besides his widow include a daughter, Pamela White of Barre; three sons, Marshall White and his companion Patti Shedd of Barre, Stuart White and his wife Ginny of Aldie, Va., and Brian White and his companion Jean Rudaitis of Clyde, N.C.; six grandchildren, Sarah Herring, Brittany and Ashley White, Jared and Jehnna White, and Aaron White; a sister, Kathryn Thurston of Sound Beach, Long Island; and nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Priscilla White and Mercedes Rogozenski, predeceased him. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 28, at 10 a.m., in the Barre Congregational Church. There are no calling hours. , 75, of Newport, passed away at his home Monday, July 26, 2004. He was born in East Charleston Feb. 4, 1929, the son of Carroll and Flora (Hancock) Green. In school Robert played football, wrestled, ice-skated, bicycled and swam. He also worked on his parents' farm. At one time he owned a Shell Station on Coventry Street then went to work as a milk factory worker at H.P. Hood for many years, retiring in 1962. He volunteered and played the accordion with other visually impaired people who played piano, tambourine, omnicord, and sang to the elderly at local nursing homes. He was also a 4-H leader in the 1970s and taught Morse code and ham radio to the Boy Scouts. He also taught Braille classes for the Vermont Association for the Blind and visually impaired. Music was a large part of his life, playing the accordion, banjo, piano, guitar, keyboard and woodbox drum, which he made himself. He was one of the founders of the Border Amateur Radio Club in 1978. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (known as the Mormans), and a member of the Derby Lions Club. Robert was very intelligent and was a very loving father, and a loving and caring person. On Nov. 11, 1955, Robert married the former Ruth Thelma Storey, who predeceased him in 1990. He is survived by his daughter, Harriett Hall and her husband John of Newport; his grandsons, Joshua Hall and Alfred Hall, both of Newport; his sister, Barbara Young of Coventry; his special friend, Louise Salls of Hardwick; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Memorial Chapel, 37 Lake Road, Newport (formerly Bay Street) Wednesday, July 28, from 7-9 p.m., where funeral services will take place Thursday, July 29, at 2:30 p.m., with Elder Dean Stevens officiating. , 87, formerly of St. Albans, Vt., died at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital early Tuesday morning, July 27, 2004. She was the daughter of Ila Anthony and Ora Winifred Hibbard Wry. After graduating from the College of New Rochelle, Ila taught at the East Rutherford, N.J., High School. She taught later in Vermont at St. Albans City and Fairfield elementary schools and at the Holy Angels Grade School. A St. Albans realtor, she also served after retirement as president of the St. Albans City Council. She was an exceptionally good cook and an avid rose gardener. She is survived by her son and his wife, N. Thomas and Ella Smead Brown; her son and his wife, Frederick W. and E. Jane Dimick Brown; a daughter, Joanne M. Brown; three grandsons, Gregory S. Brown, Dean T. Brown, and Peter D. Kalet; a granddaughter, Jennifer L. Brown; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Neil W. Brown, in 1997; a daughter, Cynthia A. Brown Kalet, in 1995; a daughter, Helen F. Brown, in 1973; two brothers, Dean A. Wry, MD, and Orlin V. Wry, MD, both of New Jersey. Funeral services will be held at Holy Angels Church in St. Albans at 11 a.m. Friday, July 30. Burial will follow in the family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery. , 70, of Bradford, Vt., died Friday, July 23, 2004, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., peacefully with his family by his side. He was born April 25, 1934, in Bradford, the son of Arthur and Katherine (Davis) Kincaid. He attended schools in Bradford. As a young man he worked at a local farm, the Curt-Moore Farm in Bradford and West Fairlee and the Brussian Farm in St. Albans, Vt. He worked on Interstate 89 and 91 during the late 1960s and '70s, operating heavy equipment. Dennis also worked for Fischer Construction of Bradford. He enjoyed many things in life, but his passion was building ponds for many people throughout the surrounding areas. He is survived by one sister, Helen Kincaid of Groton, Vt.; two brothers, Russell Kincaid of Bradford, Vt., and Shawn Kincaid of Lyndon Center, Vt.; and several nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2004, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., in the Bradford Regional Community Center in Bradford, Vt. Burial will be private and held at a later date. There are no calling hours. Paul was born July 21, 1921, in St. Johnsbury, the son of Joseph Prescott and Edith (Rodgers) Colby. Paul graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy, Class of 1939. He married Marguerite Prefontaine. He loved fishing and camping and wintering in Florida. His family was most important in his life. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Marguerite of St. Johnsbury; daughters, Gloria Molinaroli of St. Johnsbury, Terri Eldridge and her husband Kim of Siloam Springs, Ark., and Sheri Colby Schenck and her husband Jim of Passumpsic, Vt.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Lloyd and Howard. Private services will be at St. Elizabeth's Cemetery in Lyndonville, Vt.

, 96, of St. Johnsbury, Vt., passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at the Canterbury Inn in St. Johnsbury. Harriet was born June 1, 1908, in Magog, Quebec, the daughter of the late Edmond and Augustus Davis. The family moved to the United States where she attended schools in Evansville and Brownington. On April 26, 1926, she married Archie A. Bedard of Lyndonville, Vt.; he predeceased her Feb. 18, 1981. They had three children; their son, Armand, died in infancy. Harriet worked at Glovers in St. Johnsbury and also at Maple Grove for several years. After her retirement, she enjoyed being at home tending her flowers and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Regis (Catherine) Brooks of Worcester, Mass., and Mrs. Ray (Patricia) Cross of St. Johnsbury, Vt; and by eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Saturday, July 31 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen Nichols officiating. Visiting hours will be one hour prior to the service.
