, 86, of Arlene Drive, Bristol, Conn., widower of Helen C. (Porowski) Cote, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at Yale New Haven Hospital. Louis was born Jan. 24, 1918, in St. Johnsbury, Vt., a son of the late Ernest and Leonide (Fradette) Cote. Mr. Cote was employed by the former Stanley Industrial Component of Forestville, Conn. until his retirement. He was a member of St. Gregory Church, the Holy Family Retreat League, and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard L. and Roberta Cote of South Kingstown, R.I., and Paul F. and Sandra Cote of Bristol, Conn., a daughter, Karen Chandler of Bristol, Conn.; a brother, Robert Cote of New Hampshire, two sisters, Gertrude Renaud and Jeanette Emmons, both of St. Johnsbury, Vt.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 3 at 9 a.m. at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville, Conn. to St. Gregory Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol, Conn. , 79, of Lancaster, N.H., died Tuesday evening June 29, 2004, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, N.H. Mrs. Lewis was born in East Boston, Mass., May 20, 1925, the daughter of Arthur and Grace (Lawlor) MacLean. Blanche was a long time resident of Lunenburg, Vt., and Lancaster, N.H. For many years she was a clerical worker at Groveton Paper Company, Groveton, N.H. In Lancaster, she was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and Auxiliary. She was also active in the Wrestling Booster Club at White Mountains Regional High School in Whitefield, N.H. In 1985, she moved to Derry, N.H. where she was a member of the Church of Transfiguration and Auxiliary, the Derry Senior Citizens and a volunteer at Parkland Medical Center. She is survived by a daughter, Grace E. LaPierre and her husband, John LaPierre, of Gorham, N.H.; two sons, Clayton "Butch" Lewis and his wife, Kathy, of Farmington, N.H., Rexford Lewis and his wife, Renee, of Meridian, Miss.; a son-in-law, Timothy Beaton of Londonderry, N.H.; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Her husband, Clayton E. Lewis, and a daughter, Linda L. Beaton, predeceased her. Visiting hours will be held Sunday afternoon and evening July 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster, N.H. A funeral service will be held Monday morning at 11 a.m. at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, Lancaster. The Rev. David Rose, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Lunenburg, Vt., at the convenience of the family. , 66, of Island Pond, went on his journey with the Lord surrounded by his family at his home on Wednesday, June 30, 2004. He was born in Bridgeport, Conn., on Nov. 20, 1937, the son of Kenneth and Emma (Blightenburg) Marsden. He served in the U.S. Air Force and worked as a self-employed contractor, spending much of his time doing subcontracting work for Sears. Rodney loved to cook, fish, shop and play bingo. He also loved his family time with his children, grandchildren and friends. He loved to help people. On June 28, 1958, Rodney married the former Pauline Fournier, who survives him. He is also survived by his children, Stephen Marsden and wife Christine of Ansonia, Conn., Diana Marsden of Bridgeport, Conn., Todd Marsden and his friend Janice of Shelton, Conn., Mark Marsden of Cheshire, Conn., Denise Marsden and her fiance Ronnie Pelletiere of Bridgeport, Conn., Kimberly Burdo and her husband Peter of St. Charles, Mo., and Cynthia Marsden of Ansonia, Conn.; his brother, Ronald Marsden of Nevada; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be held Monday, July 5 at the Lakeside Cemetery in Island Pond at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow. , age 88, a St. Johnsbury resident, died peacefully at home following complications of Parkinson's disease, Wednesday, June 30, 2004. The son of Otto B. and Katherine "VanBuren" Wurzburg, he was born Aug. 1, 1915, in Grand Rapids, Mich. Otto was a research chemist for many years. Otto is survived by his wife, Charlotte (Donohoe) Wurzburg. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, July 3 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in St. Johnsbury. Calling hours will be immediately following the Mass at the family home, located at 1151 Old Bradley Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Otto's name to H.O.M.E., P.O. , 97, formerly of Hardwick, died Thursday, July 1, 2004, at the Maple Lane Nursing Home in Barton where she had made her home since the late 1990s. She was born July 27, 1906, in Berlin, N.H., the daughter of the late Herman L. and Elinor (Henderson) Gilman. She attended Cabot High School, graduating in the class of 1923. Following teachers training school she taught school in Cabot, Barnet, and Hardwick. In 1929, she married Avon Roy Atkins. Following their marriage, she assisted her husband in their many businesses including: Atkins Garage, Atkins Construction, The Village Motel, all in Hardwick, and the Blue Moon Drive-in Theater in St. Johnsbury. She retired in 1980. Doris was a member of the United Church in Hardwick, the Women's Fellowship Circle No. 8 of that church, and the Riverside Chapter Order of Eastern Star. In 2003, she was privileged and very pleased to have been able to return to Cabot High School for her 80th reunion. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, crossword puzzles and cross stitch. Survivors include a daughter, Lorraine Johnson and her husband Robert of Nooks, Fla.; a son, Kenneth Atkins and his wife Ruth of Hardwick; a sister, Winona Greaves of Barre; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Avon in 1980, and six siblings: Carlton, Victor, Buster, Herbert, Verna and Madonna. Visiting hours will be held Monday evening, July 5, 7-9 p.m. at the Northern Vermont Funeral Home, 60 Elm St., Hardwick. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 6, at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Hardwick with Pastor Judy Waible officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in the Fairview Cemetery in Hardwick. , died the morning of Thursday, July 1, 2004, in St. Johnsbury in the arms of her daughter. Marion was born in South Wheelock, Vt., May 23, 1919, the daughter of Treff and Laura (Guyette) Hall. Marion attended schools in the Lyndonville and St. Johnsbury area. On June 14, 1941, she married Edward H. Penniman, who predeceased her in 1971. She is survived by two sons and one daughter, Homer of Waldron, Ark., Bruce of Fryeburg, Maine, and Laura and Larry Barrett of Waterford, Vt., and daughters-in-law, Sherry Stahler and Linda Penniman. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She is survived by a brother-in-law, Warren Penniman of St. Johnsbury, Vt., and sisters-in-law, Marjorie Shopey of Feeding Hills, Mass., Marjorie Penniman of Colorado, and Audrey Penniman of St. Johnsbury. Marion was predeceased by her husband; her infant daughter (Ricka Laura); her mother and father; her mother and father in-law (Harold and Ione Penniman); a brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Peggy Hall, her brothers-in-law, Leonard, Howard and Lyman Penniman, and Andy Shopey, and her sister-in-law, Margaret Penniman. Marion was a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She expressed her love of life through dancing, traveling and enjoying the company of loved ones. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 5 at the Passumpsic Community Baptist Church at 1 p.m. with the Rev. John Young officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. , 79, of Troy, died Friday, July 2, 2004, at her home. She was born Feb. 9, 1925, in Newport, a daughter of William and Delia (Corrow) Sanville. On April 2, 1948, she married Leo W. Cheney Jr., who predeceased her Feb. 28, 1992. Mrs. Cheney was employed for many years at Columbia Forest Products and Slalom Ski Wear. She also owned and operated the Green Valley Restaurant in Troy with her late husband, Leo, for a number of years. They lived in Calabar Nigeria, Africa for five years where Mr. Cheney was plant manager for U.S. Plywood. Elsie liked the out-of-doors. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, sewing and knitting. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Cheney and their immediate family all helped build their home in Troy, a log cabin, which she loved and enjoyed for the past 26 years. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Bernier and her husband Richard of Newport; two grandchildren, Tina de la Bruere and her husband Raymond of Newport, and Stacie Baker of Essex. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Timothy and Brent de la Bruere and Jeret, Katie and Emily Baker. She is also survived by two sisters, Silverine Wright of Newport Center, and Delphine Spaulding of Newport; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by the following brothers and sisters: Lillian Blake, Idelle Besaw, Dorothy Bullis Britch, Isabelle Wright, Cyril (Hop) Sanville, Grace Gibney, Ella Taylor, Lawrence (Charlie) Sanville and Adam (John) Sanville. , 49, of Lowell, Vt., beloved husband of Jean Hoadley, died suddenly July 4, 2004, in Newport, Vt. He was born Nov. 19, 1954, in Newport, the son of Lucille (Bedard) and the late Stanley Hoadley. On Oct. 20, 1979, he married the former Jean Trucott, who survives him. He graduated from North Country Union High School, Class of 1972. Michael was a machinist for Greenfield Industries in Lyndonville, Vt. Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed spending time at his hunting camp with his family and many friends, playing cribbage, talking racing, hunting, fishing, and riding his four-wheeler. Mike especially enjoyed spending lots of time helping his daughter Angie and Chris on their farm in Newport Center. He is survived by his wife, Jean Hoadley of Lowell; his children, Angela Hoadley and her finance Chris Marquis of Newport Center, and Ryan Hoadley of Lowell; his mother, Lucille Hoadley of Lowell; a brother, Gary and his wife Sarah Hoadley of Newport; nephew, Matt Hoadley of Newport; nieces, Megan and Mary Hoadley of Newport; his mother-in-law, Vivian Trucott and friend Merton White of Sheffield, Vt.; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many friends. , 101, of Indianapolis, Ind., and formerly of Haverhill, N.H., died peacefully June 23, 2004, in Indianapolis. She was born Aug. 7, 1902, in Toledo, Ill., a daughter of Volney Eugene and Lola Blanche (Norfolk) Clark. On May 18, 1923, she married Friend Jenkins, who predeceased her Feb. 14, 1974. She received an associate's degree in education from Eastern Illinois State Teachers College. She taught Latin and English at the Haverhill Academy in Haverhill, N.H., where she retired in 1962. Her husband had been headmaster at the academy. She is survived by her nieces, Mary Alice Keith and Jane Elenor Schortemeyer, both of Indianapolis. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 9, at the North Troy Cemetery with the Rev. Carl Shoemaker officiating.

, 98, of St. Johnsbury and formerly of Hyde Park, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at her daughter's home in St. Johnsbury, where she had lived for the last several years. She was born in Hardwick, Vt., May 12, 1906, daughter of the late Hugh M. and Almina (Eldred) Greene. Elvie attended school in Wolcott. On Dec. 25, 1928, she married Floyd H. Lanphere. Their early married life was spent in Belvidere, Vt., where they started their family. Later they purchased a home in Hyde Park, Vt., and completed their family of seven children and lived there for 55 years. A full-time homemaker, she took great pride in knitting, crocheting, cooking and baking. A kind and giving person, she opened her home to care for elderly relatives, as well as her entire family and friends, who enjoyed her baked foods, especially her apple pies and donuts. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and friends. Survivors include five sons, Floyd Lanphere Jr. and his wife Betty of Proctor, Vt., Leo Lanphere of North Wolcott, Roy Lanphere and his wife Doris of Morrisville, Dayton Lanphere and his companion Kathy of Wolcott, and Bertren Lanphere and his wife Carol of Essex Jct.; two daughters, Lorraine Morey of St. Johnsbury, and Lucille Towle and her husband Robert of Waterford; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Schoolcraft of Hyde Park, and Winnie Lanphere of Belvidere; her close friend and neighbor, Marlene Rock; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Floyd Lanphere Sr., in 1994; her two brothers, Howard and Ralph Greene; and three sisters, Nora Carey, Grace Hall and Blanche Emmons. Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening, July 8, from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home in Lyndonville. Graveside services will be held Friday morning, July 9, at 10 a.m., at the Belvidere Cemetery on Route 109 in Belvidere, Vt., with the Rev. Ernest Machia officiating.
