, 66, died Sunday morning, June 6, 2004, at Concord Hospital. She was born in Guildhall, Vt., the daughter of Albert and Beatrice (Styles) McAllister. She was an elementary school teacher in Barre, Vt., Zion, Ill., Seattle, Wash., Virginia Beach, Va., and Groveton, N.H. She was a graduate of Groveton High School and Lyndon State College, Vt. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Donald L. Hill of Bow, N.H.; a daughter, Becky Smith of Concord, N.H.; one son, Scott Hill of Somerville, Mass.; two granddaughters, Sarah and Laura Smith of Concord; two brothers; Albert McAllister of Guildhall, and Richard McAllister of Amesbury, Mass.; one sister, Jenny (McAllister) Wheeler of Lancaster, N.H. 87, of North Haverhill, N.H., died June 8, 2004, peacefully at the Haverhill House in Haverhill, N.H. She was born in Hanover, N.H., June 16, 1916, a daughter of Afton Elmer and Etta (Bruneault) Rich. She graduated from People's Academy in Morrisville, Vt. Mrs. Gravlin had formerly been employed at the Ryegate Paper Mill in East Ryegate, Vt., and was a member of St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church in Woodsville. Mrs. Gravlin was predeceased by her husband, Harold E. Gravlin Sr., Aug. 18, 1996; her son, Harold E. Gravlin Jr., Dec. 26, 1975; her daughter, Suzanne M. Ingerson, March 3, 2002; a brother, Dexter Rich, May 9, 2004; a sister, Isabelle Getchell and her close friend, Bob Hatley, Feb. 8, 1999. Survivors include her former daughter-in-law, Rachel (Gravlin) Clough of Woodsville, N.H.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. , 88, died June 9, 2004, at Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, following an extended illness. She was born in Haverhill, N.H., June 22, 1915, the daughter of John A. and Agnes Elma (Lupien) Howard. Mrs. Boemig was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught in Benton, Lisbon and Littleton. She was a longtime member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church and Women's Guild; she attended Plymouth State College and was active with the area senior meals when they were held in the church parish house. Mrs. Boemig was predeceased by her husband, Madison Karl Boemig Sr., on Aug. 6, 1988, and four brothers, Stephen, John, Philip and Joshua Howard. Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn B. Johnson and her husband David, and Marolyn B. Newman and companion John Hume, both of Woodsville; four sons, David T. Smith of Crystal River, Fla., Madison D. Boemig and companion Ruth Kinney of Bath, Andrew L. Boemig and his wife Ruth of Starke, Fla., and Meredith K. Boemig and companion Doreen Delano of Newbury, Vt.; also several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A calling hour will be on Friday, June 11, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch St., Woodsville. , 23, of Island Pond, died peacefully June 8, 2004, in Lebanon, N.H., surrounded by her family. She was born May 16, 1981, in Newport, a daughter of Alson and Cathy (O'Gorman) Kinney. Taini graduated from North Country Union High School in 1999 and later graduated from New Hampshire Community Technical College in Claremont, N.H., with an associate's degree in physical therapy. She had been employed by North Country Hospital for three years as a physical therapy assistant. Taini was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, crew member and leader at the Vermont Leadership Center, and she was a member of the North Country Dance Company. Taini was a dependable member of her grandmother's catering service, and was also an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. She is survived by her parents, Alson and Cathy Kinney of Island Pond; a younger sister, Kalli Kinney of Island Pond; her maternal grandmother, Muriel O'Gorman of Island Pond; a special companion and best friend, Gab Leigh of Island Pond; numberous aunts, uncles and cousins with the Kinney and O'Gorman families; extended families of Earl and Wendy Leigh and Lyons family; many friends, co-workers, patients and her caregivers at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, June 14, at the Christ Episcopal Church in Island Pond with the Rev. Jean McDonald and the Rev. Garrett Keizer co-officiating. A reception will follow the service at the American Legion Hall in Island Pond. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Bud was born Jan. 15, 1965, in Glens Falls, N.Y., the son of Homer Sr. and the late Hilda (Kenney) Daigle. Bud was employed at EHV-Weidmann in St. Johnsbury, Vt. He was formerly in the National Guard. Bud enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping and golf. He was an avid fan of the Yankees and NASCAR. He loved his boys. Bud was predeceased by a sister, Linda Jones. In addition to his father, Bud is survived by his father's wife, Judi Daigle; two sons, Nick and Zach Daigle of Benson, Vt., and their mother JoAnne Gates. Also surviving are his companion Tina Baker and her sons, Alan, Kendell and Shaun; six brothers, Lawrence Daigle and his wife Linda, Dwayne Daigle and his wife Elaine, and Michael Daigle, all of Granville, N.Y., Todd Daigle of Wakefield, R.I., Mark Daigle and his wife Jean of West Burke, Va., and Jay Daigle of Clarksville, Tenn.; three sisters, Barbara Arquette and her husband Lyn of Fort Edward, N.Y., Vicky Hale and her husband Steven of Granville, and Karen Campbell and her husband Terry of Sharon, Vt.; also several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. , 93, of Newport, Vt., died peacefully June 10, 2004, in Newport. He was born July 12, 1910, in West Virginia, a son of Garfield and Effie (Heater) Fidler. On Sept. 1, 1934, he married Vallie Crickard who predeceased him Oct. 23, 2003. Mr. Fidler was general manager of Weyerhaeuser in North Troy and Hancock, Vt., and after several promotions he settled in Toronto and became vice president and general manager of Weyerhaeuser, Canada L.T.D. He retired in 1971 and moved to Newport. He held memberships with the Memphremagog Masonic Union Lodge 65 F & AM, Mount Sinai Shrine, and he was a life member of Newport Elks Lodge 2155. He was a former member of the Newport Rotary Club. Among his hobbies, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Mr. Fidler is survived by his children, Patty Rouse of Sacramento, Calif., June Gendron and her husband Raymond of St. Johnsbury, Vt., Sue Shimalla and her husband Floyd of Apalachin, N.Y., Sandra Fidler of Miami, Fla., and Lillian Fidler of Washington, D.C.; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by a sister, Helen Vacher of Tampa, Fla.; and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by seven brothers and four sisters. , 65, of Waterford, Vt., passed away early Thursday, June 10, 2004, after a relatively brief illness. She was born in Collingswood, N.J., Jan. 31, 1939, the daughter of Stanley and Lillian Sylvia (Bisbee) Earle. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy, Class of 1957. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Christie and Rick Knoll of Bakersfield, Calif., and her two children, Christopher and Lisa; her son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Patty Olson of Bakersfield, Calif., and their three children, Eric Ryan, Heather and Jeremy; her brother, Russell Earle and his wife Angela of Lenhartsville, Pa.; her loving niece, Sondra Blanzaco and family of Wethersfield, Conn.; and a nephew, Russell John Earle of Reno, Nev. Sandy's love of animals began as a teenager with Morgan horses. She was an accomplished equestrian and show-woman of the Morgan horse breed. She later bred and showed champion Great Danes while living in California. Sandy co-founded the Volunteers for Animals organization in Tehachapi, Calif. She moved back to Vermont in 1989 to take care of her mother, Sylvia Earle. While living here in Vermont, Sandy renewed her interest in Morgan horses; her Morgan Tristan survives her. She also had three Dobermans here as pets; her Doberman Tyson survives her as well. Services will be held Monday, June 14, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Jay Sprout officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Lower Waterford. Friends and family are invited to gather at the funeral home from 1 p.m. to the start of the service. , 29, of East Montpelier, died Monday, June 7, 2004, while on military duty in Iraq serving with the Vermont Army National Guard. He was born Nov. 12, 1974, in East Calais, son of Stephen A. Gray and Judith A. Bailey Gray. Jamie attended Calais Elementary School in East Calais, and graduated from U-32 Jr./Sr. High School in Montpelier in 1992. He attended Vermont Technical College in Randolph before joining the National Guard in 1993. While he was in high school he participated in the track team. He also helped develop the football program at U-32 that he also participated in. He was employed at Cody Chevrolet in Berlin prior to entering the Vermont National Guard. He was a member of the Mt. Tamers Snowmobile Club of Calais and Woodbury, and the Boonie Club of Williamstown. Survivors include his father and stepmother, Stephen A. and Marion Gray of Calais; a sister, Sarah Moulton and her fiance, Jeff Kieslich of Milton; a niece, Hailey Moulton of Milton; paternal grandmother, Eunice H. Gray of Calais; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Jamie was predeceased by his mother, Judith Gray of Calais; his paternal grandfather, Max L. Gray Sr. of Calais; his maternal grandmother, Mary Bailey of Lyndonville; and his brother-in-law, Kevin Moulton of Milton. A funeral service will be held Monday, June 14 at 1:30 p.m. at the Max Gray Farm on the Max Gray Road in East Calais. There are no calling hours. 82, of Crowfield Drive, Warwick, R.I., a retired lawyer, died Monday, June 7, 2004 at the Kent County Memorial Hospital. Born in Bound Brook, N.J. on July 22, 1921, he had lived in Warwick for four years and had previously lived in Lower Waterford, Vt. and East Longmeadow, Mass. He was the loving husband of Barbara Blackwell Hird. A graduate of Harvard College in 1943, he finished college a year early in order to enter the Navy and finished ROTC an Ensign, being discharged as a Lieutenant in 1948. He joined the U.S.S. Renshaw and was involved in the war in the Pacific during World War II. He participated in the support of many amphibious landings in the South Pacific. . On Navy Day 1946, the Renshaw served as the Presidential Review ship in New York Harbor, and Lt. Hird was assigned the job of guiding President Truman around the ship as it reviewed the fleet. After the war he graduated from Harvard Law School in 1949 and served briefly in the United Nations, where he met his wife of 54 years, Barbara Blackwell. In 1950 he started practicing law in Springfield, Mass. While in Springfield, he taught law at Western New England College, and served as moderator of various television talk shows. In 1977 he moved permanently to Vermont, where he practiced as a legal consultant until his retirement. He was chosen moderator of the First Congregational Church of Longmeadow, Mass., and the Lower Waterford, Vt. Congregational Church. After moving to Warwick, R.I. for reasons of health, he became a member of Beneficent Congregational Church. Mr. Hird loved his family above all else and made countless sacrifices for their benefit. He was a loving husband and father. Many people in the communities in which he resided were recipients of his kindness and generosity. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his sons Matthew B. Hird of Warwick and Jonathan E. Hird of Providence, a daughter Valerie B. Hird of Burlington, Vt; granddaughters Erica A. Hird, and Alison V. Hird, both of Providence, and grandson Blackwell P. Hird, of Burlington, Vt. A memorial service will be held at Beneficent Congregational Church, Weybosset St., Providence, on Tuesday, June 15, at 1 o'clock.
