, 79, of Oregon Road, East Concord, died peacefully Friday morning, Sept. 3, 2004, at St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab. Mr. MacDonald was born in East Concord on June 4, 1925, the son of Harry and Cleona K. (Nichols) MacDonald. John is a lifetime resident of East Concord. He married Frances E. Whitcomb on Oct. 6, 1942, in Lunenburg. During WWII he served with the 143rd Naval Seabees in the South Pacific Liberation. For 45 years he was employed with Gilman Paper Company/Georgia Pacific. During his lifetime he enjoyed snowmobiling, traveling, camping, gardening, animals, hunting and fishing. Memberships include the Loyal Order of Moose, St. Johnsbury, the Moose River Lodge No. 82 F & AM, Concord, and the Rock Dodgers Snowmobile Club of Concord. Family members include his wife, Frances, of East Concord; four children, Natalie MacDonald Thomas and husband Donald Thomas of Fairbanks, Alaska, John M. MacDonald and companion Fern Loomis of Victory, George F. MacDonald of Fairbanks, Alaska, Mary Jo MacDonald Hale and husband Glendon Hale Jr. of Havelock, N.C.; grandchildren, Andrew Thomas, Allison Thomas Carter, Jeffrey Thomas, Ian MacDonald, Nicki Scheifer, Kim King, Ethan Hale, Erik Hale; nine great-grandchildren; a brother Howard MacDonald and wife Ruth MacDonald of East Concord; a sister Lillian MacDonald Tatro and husband Peter Tatro of East Concord; several nieces and nephews. Memorial visiting hours will be held Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 8, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A memorial service will be held immediately after at 2 p.m. The Rev Henry E. Cheney, of St. Johnsbury, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Overlook Cemetery, East Concord. 54, of West Burke, Vt., died suddenly Sunday afternoon, Sept. 5, 2004, in Lyndon, Vt., as a result of an automobile accident. He was born Aug. 16, 1950, in Orleans, Vt., son of the late Percy and Elsinore (LaCourse) Sanville. Terry was schooled in Orleans and later graduated from Johnson State College with degrees in human services and business management. On Nov. 28, 1975, he married Debra A. Miller. For the last several years Terry worked as a correctional officer at the Northern State Correctional Facility in Newport and was also the Union Steward there. Previous to that he worked 25 years as a machinist in several machine shops along the East Coast. Terry enjoyed mechanical work and helped many friends and family with their automobiles. He also enjoyed auto racing, fishing, golf, was an avid reader, as well as a past 4-H leader. He was very resourceful and stood up to each challenge he faced, and was admired for his strength, determination and knowledge. Terry was proud of his family and his seven grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Debra Sanville of West Burke; three children, Connie Newland and her husband Anthony of West Burke, Jason Sanville and his companion Kathy Kendall of Lyndonville, and Mark Sanville and his wife Amanda of Sheffield, Vt.; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Katelyn, Alyssa, Morgan, Tyler, Chelsea and Devin; a sister, Brenda Miller and her husband Bob of Texas; his close friend and brother-in-law, Buster Miller and his wife Patty of Pownal, Vt.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters-in-law, and many friends. He was predeceased by his 8-year-old brother, David. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home Thursday evening, Sept. 9, from 6-8. Private graveside services will be held at Hillside Cemetery in West Burke at the convenience of the family. , 91, in Barre, Vt., died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004. He was formerly of Concord, N.H., and New London, N.H. He was the devoted husband of the late Kathleen (Twombly) Brooks. He was a graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy, Middlebury College, and the University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical School. Dr. Brooks had a long and distinguished career as an anesthesiologist, practicing primarily at the Concord Hospital, Concord, N.H. He had a sincere interest in people, and an intense intellectual curiosity. He will be remembered as a true humanitarian, and a man who lived to learn. He was also an avid outdoorsman and athlete - purchasing his last bicycle at age 87! In 2003, Dr. Brooks was named the Vermont Elder of the Year for his volunteer work. Active participation in community churches was central to his life. He leaves his children, Nancy Brooks Richardson and her husband David, Meg Brooks Kuhner, and David A. Brooks and his wife Lisa; eight grandchildren, Megan, Susanna, Beth, Abigael, Emily, Sam, Whitney and Stacey; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary McLeod Brooks; and many nieces and nephews. , longtime resident of Bridport, died Sept. 5, 2004. He was born April 8, 1924, in Ferrisburgh, the son of Thaddeus and Rose (Hamel) Field. He was a veteran of World War II, serving his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1943-1946 including the landing at Iwo Jima. Following his tour of duty, he returned to Vermont and enlisted in the newly formed Vermont State Police. His first duty station was in Wilmington. Later, he transferred to St. Johnsbury, and also was an instructor at the Vermont Police Academy. Bob was a member of the Mountain Rescue and Dive teams and was recognized with many VSP commendations. He retired after a 32-year law enforcement career. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion, the North Country Iwo Jima Survivors, and the Addison County Thief Detecting Society. He was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bridport. He also spent many happy hours with his family at camp in West Addison, fishing, boating and water skiing. Mr. Field is survived by his wife of 54 years, Celia (Woodard) Field of Bridport; four children, Robert M. and Doris Field of Meridian, Ind., Linda Dalton of Merrimack, N.H., Mark and Joan Field of Tyngsboro, Mass., and Thomas H. Field of Springfield, Vt.; four grandchildren, Colin and Mark James Dalton, and Ryan and Rachel Field; a brother, William and Beverly Field of Middlebury; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church in Bridport, Vt., Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery in Vergennes. , 71, of St. Johnsbury, Vt., died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. She was born in Greensboro, Vt., June 6, 1933, the daughter of Howard J. and Madeline (Chase) Lavallee. Marilyn had worked in the electronics department of Fairbanks Scales for over 30 years. Mrs. Corrow was family oriented, and loved sharing her appreciation for nature in flower gardens and bird watching, especially cardinals. She liked reading, shopping and the many trips to Boothbay Harbor, Maine, to visit and have lobster. On Nov. 16, 1951, she married Glen Corrow, who survives her in St. Johnsbury. Other survivors include a son, Larry and his wife Christine Corrow of Lyndonville, Vt.; two daughters, Susan Corrow and friend Paul Croteau of East St. Johnsbury and Deborah Corrow and friend Van Wilson of Superior, Ariz.; two brothers, Earl and his wife Sandy Lavallee of St. Johnsbury and Ronald Lavallee of St. Johnsbury; four sisters and husbands, Marjorie and Alan Wind of Connecticut, Betty and Joe Pospisil of Connecticut, Sandra and Sonny Lunt of Maine, and Brenda and Robert Harris of New Hampshire; three grandchildren, Heather Deyo and significant other Keith Labounty of Lyndonville, Dan Corrow and significant other Erin Ellio of Lyndonville and Rachel Corrow of Lyndonville and a great-grandson, Chandler Labounty of Lyndonville; and nieces and nephews. , 58, of Barnet, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle against lung cancer. She was born Oct. 1, 1945, in St. Johnsbury, the daughter of Marion (Reed) and the late Dean Blake Sr. Sandra was a 1963 graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy. She had worked for Howard Time Sales, Vinton Motors, Kelton Motors, McCormick Motors, Wayne Ford Chrysler, and most recently, until her illness, at Littleton Coin Co. Sandra truly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her precious grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes were laying on the beach in Old Orchard and dancing to country music, especially the group Alabama. Her infectious smile and great sense of humor brightened the days of everyone who came in contact with her. Sandra was well-known for her rum cakes and various Christmas cookies. Survivors include her husband of almost 38 years, Albert "Joe" Despins Jr. (58 Despins Lane, St. Johnsbury 05819); two sons, Albert "Joey" Despins III and his wife Leann and son Beau of Barnet, and Christopher Despins and his wife Sarah of Groton; grandchildren, Kelsi, Korilyn and Dennis Despins of Concord; her mother, Marion Blake of St. Johnsbury; a sister, Carol Earnshaw and her husband James of Goodman, Mo.; a brother, Dean Blake Jr. and his wife Jeannie of West Burke; her mother-in-law, Helen Rainey of Lyndonville; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews; and many good friends. She was predeceased by her father; and a son, Corey Steven Despins. Services will be held Friday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m., at the Ryegate Corner Presbyterian Church with the Rev. M. , 86, of Windsor, Conn., died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004. Born Theodora Hazel Simpson, Aug. 9, 1918, in St. Johnsbury, Vt., Teddy became the adopted daughter of Enos and Sadie Kittredge. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy and earned her LPN at Mary Hitchcock School of Nursing in Hanover, N.H. Teddy married John E. Kilburn and lived numerous years in St. Johnsbury, Vt., East Hartford, Conn., and Holmes Beach, Fla., working as a nurse for private physicians and as a visiting nurse for the state of Connecticut. In retirement Teddy and John spent their winters in Florida and summers at Norton Pond, Vt. She loved swimming, long walks and reading. Her husband John predeceased her in 2000. Teddy leaves her sister, Audry A. Pollard of Harbor City, Calif.; son, Rodney F. Kilburn of Burlington, Conn.; granddaughter, Christine L. Kilburn of Broad Brook, Conn.; and great-granddaughter, Ashley, age 15. A memorial service for Teddy and John will be held in St. Johnsbury on a date to be determined. , 72, of Goshen Road in Bradford, Vt., died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. He was born Sept. 19, 1931, in Woodsville, N.H., the son of James and Pearl (Green) Peavey. He attended schools in Newbury, Vt. He owned and operated Corner Country Store and Jim's Country Store in Hanover, N.H. He also owned and operated Sharon Beef in Sharon, Vt. Jim enjoyed raising beef cattle, attending auctions, and buying and selling beef cattle and horses. He also enjoyed attending fairs, especially horse pulls, and visiting with people. Family was very important to Jim and he will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by three sons, James E. Peavey of Sharon, Vt., John P. Peavey of Orford, N.H., and Jeffery G. Peavey of Lebanon, N.H.; his companion of 34 years, Jean T. Henderson of Bradford, Vt.; three sisters, Jean Shepherd of Lyme, N.H., Joann Wheeler of West Newbury, Vt., and June Beliveau of Windsor Locks, Conn.; one brother, Delbert Peavey of Enfield, N.H.; seven grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at 1 p.m., in the West Newbury Town Hall in West Newbury, Vt. Burial will be private and held at a later date. 68, of Newport, passed away at his home Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Enosburg, July 15, 1936, the son of Felix and Doris (Turner) Lamonda. Bob first worked for Wayehouser in North Troy, then for Indian Head, and more recently in maintenance for the state of Vermont for many years. He loved the New York Yankees, and loved gardening, flowers, his family and friends and movies. Bob is survived by his wife of 46 years, the former Virginia Vincent. , 84, a lifelong resident of St. Johnsbury, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. The daughter of Gardner and Carrie (Carroll) Grady, Irene was born Sept. 8, 1920, in St. Johnsbury. Irene was a graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy, Class of 1939, she was a cook at various country inns, and a housekeeper at the Hillwinds Inn in Franconia, St. Johnsbury Academy, and in many private homes. Irene lived over 20 years at the St. Johnsbury House and was involved in many activities there. Irene is survived by a sister-in-law, Dot Grady; several nieces and nephews to include Jane Grady, Catherine Sicard, John L. Grady III, David Grady, William Grady, Richard Grady, Donald Grady, Caroline Kopczynski, Wesley Emerson, William Amidon, Patricia Meaden, Carol Sicard, Barbara Milo, Robert Grady; many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews; and her many friends at the St. Johnsbury House and Senior Center. She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, John Grady II, Allen Grady, and Ferdinand Grady; four sisters, Madeline Jackson, Gladys Swasey, Harriett Emerson and Florence Amidon; and a great-nephew, Edward Grady.
