, 79, of Newport died peacefully in Newport on Sunday, September 21, 2003. Mrs. Sherlaw was born in Brownington on May 6, 1924, the daughter of Raymond and Lillian (Queior) Waterman. She attended schools in Westmore, Holland, and Derby. Through the years she worked in housekeeping jobs and as a caregiver in many capacities. While she was a very private person, she treasured many friendships. She had many hobbies including tracing family history, savoring rural living, and corresponding with friends via telephone, letters, and taped letters. She was especially proud of her Native American heritage and eagerly gathered data on this subject. She had a deep appreciation of all nature. She loved all animals, and she was especially devoted to her dogs. She is survived by two nieces and two nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; by her siblings: Albion, Esther, Cecil, and Alton Waterman; and by her companion, Oakley Kittredge. A memorial service was held September 25 at Curtis-Britch Converse-Rushford Funeral Home in Newport with the Reverend Larry Ridgely officiating. Interment followed at Companion Green Cemetery in Sutton. , 77, of Derby died in Newport on Thursday, September 25, 2003. Mrs. Probstein was born in Newport on July 17, 1926, the daughter of Frank and Beatrice (Carter) Carbonneau. She is survived by her siblings: Lionel Carbonneau of Derby, Lorraine Patenaude of Newport, Robert Carbonneau of Kelso, Washington, Harry Carbonneau Sr. of Irasburg, Winston Carbonneau of Derby, Helen Gehring of Haslett, Michigan, and Leo Carbonneau of Derby; and by her friends: the Kanes of Schenectady, New York, Lawrence and Gladys Hastings of Schenectady, and Vi Pollard of Newport. She was predeceased by her parents; by her brother Francis Carbonneau; and by her sister Evelina Favreau. , 63, of Brownington died suddenly Sunday evening, September 28, 2003, as the result of a car accident. Mr. Pepin was born in Gardner, Massachusetts, on December 13, 1939, the son of Aurore Pepin and the late Alphonse Pepin. He attended schools in Barton and Brownington. He enjoyed restoring cars of yesteryear, attending car shows, and spending time with his family. His truck driving career included jobs in Florida and Connecticut. For the past 20 years, he worked for Carroll (Calkins) Concrete in Coventry. He is survived by his mother, Aurore Pepin, of Orleans; by his dear companion, Pauline Choquette; by her children: Gerard, Marcel, and Michael Choquette and their families; by his children: Theresa Pepin of Lowell and her daughter Heidi Cur of Orleans, Dianne Pepin of Laconia, New Hampshire, Jerry Pepin and Sonja Powers and Jerry's daughter Michelle of Brownington, and by Christine and Mark Favreau of Swanton; by brothers: Edward Pepin and his wife, Linda, of Long Island, New York, Armand Pepin of Island Pond, and Raymond Pepin and his companion, Helen McDermott, of Island Pond; by sister Irene LeBlanc of Orleans; and by numerous nieces and nephews. All who knew him will miss his cocky smile and the twinkle in his eye in anticipation of his next mischievous joke or trick. Leonard A. Mason

, 93, of Hyde Park died September 27, 2003, at Genesis Eldercare in Morrisville. Mr. Mason was born February 3, 1910, in Lowell, the son of Lewis and Elvia (Shatney) Mason. He married Helena Mary LaRocque of Barton in 1934. They raised seven children: Hugh Mason and Gay Mason of Albany, Amelia Jones of Morrisville, Jeanne Douglas of Hyde Park, Lorraine LaBounty of Burlington, Hale Mason of Johnson, and Cherylann Kulakoff of Queens, New York. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and by 14 great-grandchildren. He enjoyed many years in farming, retail, and electronics. In the 1930s, he operated a home delivery retail business in meats and cheeses delivering to more than 80 customers in Orleans and Caledonia counties and was owner and operator of the Morristown Corners General Store in the 1950s. He also owned and operated farms in Albany Center, Morristown Corners, Cole Hill, and Stowe during these three decades. He was awarded a diploma of theoretical and applied electricity from the L.L. Cooke School of Electricity in Chicago, Illinois in 1931, and he wired the Morristown Corners farm himself. In 1959 he was awarded a diploma in television and radio services from DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago and established Mason's Television Sales and Service in Morristown. He later operated Leonard's Television Services in Willingboro, New Jersey, and in Reading, Pennsylvania. He moved to Easthampton, Massachusetts, in the 1970s and earned a license as a real estate agent at the age of 69. When his beloved wife of nearly 60 years became ill, the couple returned to Vermont, making their home at Sterling View Park in Hyde Park. He leaves a sister, Mary Marsh of Panton; and two brothers, Mitchell Mason of Newport and Jesse Mason of Morrisville. He was predeceased by his wife, Helena, in 1993; by two sisters, Desmiah Durocher and Hilda Peavey; by four brothers: Chelsia, Abner, Roger, and Sidney Mason; and by two grandchildren, Kimberly Jo Douglas and Lonnie Patrick Mason. In 1980, he published a collection of short stories, Come Set in the Warm; his family is planning a second edition in his memory. Friends may call at the White-Fiess Funeral Home in Morrisville on Wednesday, October 1, from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 2, at 2 p.m. at Puffer United Methodist Church in Morrisville. Bearers will be five grandsons: Kevin and Steve Mason, Bob Jones, Mason Douglas, and Aaron LaBounty, and great-grandson Nicholas Sterner. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Morristown Corners. A reception hosted by Frances Jolicoeur and other friends and neighbors at Sterling View Park Community Center and Route 15 will follow the graveside services. , 67, of Derby died peacefully at his home on September 27, 2003, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Judd was born February 21, 1936, in Derby, a son of Harold and Fleda (Carter) Judd. On October 14, 1956, he married Marjorie Dane, who survives him. He was a dairy farmer on the family farm in Derby for 35 years. , 78, of Newark died on Monday, September 29, 2003, at her home. Mrs. Johnson was born on February 26, 1925, in St. Johnsbury, the daughter of the late Fred and Ruth (Calkins) Marshell. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in the class of 1943 and Fisher Junior College in Boston in the class of 1946. She worked at the Fitch Clinic, the Vermont State Police office in St. Johnsbury, and Hunt Memorial Hospital in Danvers, Massachusetts. She enjoyed golf and was a member of the Orleans Country Club. She enjoyed rug hooking and was a member of the Northeast Rug Hookers. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, Paul W. Johnson, of Newark; by her three children and their spouses: Peter and Linda Johnson of Derby Line, Jane and Paul Carnabuci of Palmyra, Maine, Mark Johnson and friend, Jill Anderson, of Danville, New Hampshire; by six grandchildren; by two sisters, Grace and her husband, Harley Thurber, of California and Francis Dean of Orange, Massachusetts; by two sisters-in-law, Alice Blair of Danville and Lucia Pearl and her husband, William, of Danville. There will be no funeral services. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in St. Johnsbury at the family's convenience. Doctor Everett L. Davis

, 84, of Albany died September 23, 2003, at North Country Hospital in Newport. Dr. Davis was born in Albany on May 12, 1919, the son of Henry L. and Mary (Long) Davis. He attended grammar school in Albany, graduated from Craftsbury Academy in 1936, received a bachelor's and medical degrees from the University of Vermont in 1940 and 1943, respectively. He did medical internship at a Salem, Massachusetts, hospital. Having been commissioned a second lieutenant with graduation from Reserve Officers' Training Corps at the University of Vermont, he joined the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army, entering service in October 1944 as a first lieutenant. During World War II he served tours of active duty at U.S. MFSS at Carlisle Barracks in Pennsylvania; DeWitt General Hospital in Auburn, California, in vascular surgery; and Battey General Hospital in Rome, Georgia, in orthopedic and hand reconstructive surgery. There he was promoted to captain of the Medical Corps of the Army of the United States. He served at Camp MacClellan in Anniston, Alabama, as regimental surgeon and was then sent overseas to serve with the 116th General Hospital and 385th Station Hospital as chief of orthopedic surgical services. He returned for separation from active duty status in 1946. He married Isabelle Farrar in Craftsbury on June 27, 1942, while still a student at UVM. She traveled with him throughout his Army career, coming home to Vermont while he was overseas. Upon his return from service, he pursued a general medical and surgical practice in Orleans and Newport and was affiliated with Orleans County Memorial Hospital in Newport. He interrupted his practice for three years from 1953 to 1956 to pursue a residency program in the field of obstetrics and gynecology at the affiliated hospitals of UVM Medical College and Harvard Medical School's obstetric and gynecological services in the Boston Lying-In and Women's Free Hospitals, leading to specialty certification as a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a fellow of the American Board of Surgeons. In July 1956 he resumed his practice in Newport until health problems forced disability retirement in 1979. During his career he held memberships in the Orleans County Medical Society, the Vermont Medical Society, the American Medical Association, and the New England Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He served as chief of medical staff during the era of phasing out the Orleans County Memorial Hospital and was instrumental in the construction and development of North Country Hospital. He held membership with the Newport Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 2155, Valley Lodge No. 106 F&AM in Orleans, the Newport Chapter Rotary International, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 798 in Newport, American Legion Post No. 21 in Newport, the American Morgan Horse Association, and the Vermont Horse Show Association. He was also a member of the United Church in Craftsbury Common. He enjoyed his Morgan horses at Lake Hosmer Farm in Albany and shared his love of horses with anyone who had interest, friends and family. He recently moved to Maple Lane Nursing Home to be with his wife who requires constant care. He was proud to have been married to her for over 61 years. He leaves his wife, Isabelle, of Albany, a resident at Maple Lane Nursing Home in Barton; two sons, Richard Davis and Blaine Davis and his wife, Mary, of Albany; a daughter-in-law, Jane C. Davis, of Albany; four grandchildren: Jessica Trevits of North Hero, Jonathan Davis of Bolton Valley, Jared Davis of Albany, and Ethan Davis of South Burlington; two great-grandsons, Connor and Nicholas Trevits of North Hero; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family. He was predeceased by a son, Terry, in May 2003; by two brothers, George and Malcolm Davis; and by two sisters, Margery, who died as an infant, and Ruth Lawrence. A memorial service was held September 27 at the United Church in Craftsbury Common with the Reverend Arnold M. Brown and Father Daniel Rupp officiating. Interment will be held at Albany Village Cemetery at the convenience of the family. , 101, of New York City died at her home on Friday, September 12, 2003. Mrs. Bjorkman was born in Barton on May 1, 1902, the daughter of Henry R. Cutler and Ida (Miles) Cutler. She graduated from Smith College in Northhampton, Massachusetts, in the class of 1923. On November 24, 1928, she married Henry "Hank" B. Bjorkman, who predeceased her in 1974. She and her husband regularly summered in Barton. Her last summer in Barton was in 1998. In her middle years she pursued a career in interior design. She is survived by her son Henry "Sandy" Cutler Bjorkman and his wife, Elizabeth Q., of Weston, Massachusetts; by two grandsons, Edward Craig of Watertown, Massachusetts, and Thomas Miles of Cambridge, Massachusetts; and by her caregiver and friend, Nora "Noreen" Pierce. Interment and graveside memorial services will be held in Barton next summer.
George Walter Sweet

, a family man and entrepreneur, died peacefully on October 5, 2003, at Maple Lane Nursing Home in Barton. Mr. Sweet was born in Abercorn, Quebec, on April 1, 1923, to Phillip and Myrtle Sweet. A dedicated student who was always first in his class, he joined the Canadian Army and served during World War II. Following the war, he moved to the U.S. where he became a citizen and built successful businesses in Vermont, Michigan, and California. He loved his family, especially his "girls," and he brought a sense of possibility and joy to those who knew him. An extrovert with a positive outlook, he enjoyed traveling and meeting people; he loved the open road and drove across the U.S. so many times from the early 1950s to the late 1990s that he lost count. The journey was always the magical part of any trip, whether it was fishing in British Columbia, meeting family in San Francisco, or joining friends in Reno or Las Vegas. Friends and family will remember him for his unconditional love, his sound advice, and his anecdotes and wonderful stories. He is survived by Frances, his wife of 60 years; by his two daughters, Diane Griffiths of Fort Myers, Florida, and Phyllis Besch of San Mateo, California; by three grandchildren: Sean and Christopher Griffiths of Fort Myers and Tiffany Griffiths of Colchester; and by two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Zachary Griffiths of Fort Myers. He also leaves two nephews, Kenneth Sherrer of Abercorn and Kenneth Sweet of Richford. Memorial services will be held at Curtis-Britch Converse-Rushford Funeral Home on Lake Road in Newport at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 11. , 58, of Swanton died unexpectedly late Sunday evening, September 28, 2003, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. Mrs. Spaulding was born in Barton on May 8, 1945, the daughter of the late Vernon and Ida (Boutin) Porter. She attended and graduated from Barton Academy and Graded School. On February 17, 1968, she married Gilbert W. Spaulding who survives her. She graduated from cosmetology school in Portland, Maine. For the past 26 years she has owned and operated Hillside Salon located in her home. A devout Catholic, she was an active member of Holy Angels Roman Catholic Parish where she belonged to the Ladies of Saint Anne and regularly participated in the parish's Eucharistic adoration devotions. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who adored her grandchildren. Her customers were a very special part of her life. She especially enjoyed her home, flower gardens, and weekly card parties. In addition to her husband, Gilbert, of Swanton, she leaves three sons: Bradley Spaulding and his wife, Jessica, of Waterbury, Jon Eric Spaulding of St. Albans, and Jay Spaulding and his wife, Brittany, of Franklin; three grandchildren: Cole, Reid, and Luke Spaulding and an anticipated grandchild due in December; her sister Karen Perry and her husband, Steve, of St. Albans; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Bruce and Nancy Porter of Bonita Springs, Florida, Dean and Lucille Porter of Brattleboro, and Dale and Linda Porter of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated October 2 from Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church in St. Albans. , 73, of Derby died in Newport on Thursday, October 2, 2003. Mr. Fournier was born in Troy on June 19, 1930, the son of Oscar and Georgette (Gaboriault) Fournier. On April 15, 1962, he married Shirley Wright, who survives him. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked for North Country Union High School as a bus driver and ground maintenance person, retiring in 1995 after 26 years. He was a member and Eucharist minister at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Derby Line, a third degree member of Knights of Columbus Newport Gibbons Council No. 2285, a member of American Legion Newport Post No. 21, and a member of the Mary Lou Meunier Canine Club. He was very fond of his dog, Maggie, and he and his wife loved camping at Lake Eden for the past 11 years. Besides his wife, Shirley, he is survived by his sons: John Fournier of Hartford, Connecticut, Edward Fournier and his wife, Patricia, of Milton, and James Fournier and his wife, Carol, of Derby; by his grandchildren: Amanda Bissonette, Jennifer Bissonette, Amber Fournier, and Owen Fournier; by his sisters: Madeline Degreenier and her husband, Howard, of Newport, Pauline Roy of Newport, and Yvonne Hotte of Alburg; and by his brother-in-law David Keefe of Newport. He was predeceased by his brothers Maurice and Adrien; and by his sister Lucille Keefe. , 76, of Glover died in Glover on Monday, September 29, 2003. Mr. Duteau was born on April 4, 1927, in Lebanon, New Hampshire, the son of Charles and Celia (Boutin) Duteau. He grew up and attended schools in Costicook, Quebec, with his brothers Emmanuel and Gaston, and that is where he spent many years working on the family farm. He then moved to Newport and worked as a weaver on the Yandow farm. He was very well known in the community and was cared for and looked out for by many. He was able to bring out the good in people. Over the years he developed many family-like relationships with the people at Union House, where he had resided for the last six years. A graveside service was held October 3 at Westlook Cemetery in Glover with the Reverend Daniel Rupp officiating. Interment followed. , 91, died October 3, 2003, in Holland, Vermont. Dr. Pierson was born August 16, 1912, in Bloomfield, New Jersey. He graduated in 1934 from the Syracuse University school of journalism and from Harvard Dental School in 1938. He received an honorary doctorate degree from New England College for his work in education. In 1937 he married Marjorie Fountain, who predeceased him in 1987. He was a dentist and oral surgeon in Hampton, New Hampshire, and was also associated with the Harvard Dental Clinic until his retirement in 1973. For 16 years he served on school boards, was a director of the New England Program for Teacher Education, and authored two books on education. He received the Distinguished Service Award in 1966 from the New Hampshire School Board Association. He also was vice-president of the board of trustees at the Spaulding Youth Center for Emotionally Disturbed Children. Involved in traveling, wildlife research, and lecturing, he had visited over 100 countries mostly doing bird inventories and as a volunteer with Earthwatch. He was a members of Orleans Country Club and the Gourmet Bridge Club. Survivors include his daughter Linda Veale of Atascadero, California; his son Jeffery Pierson and his wife, Huyn, of Harve de Grace, Maryland; his brother William Pierson of Williamstown, Massachusetts; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and close friends and caregivers Pat Hunt of Morgan and Pamela Newell and Tammy Goad of Holland. , 96, of Westford died peacefully on Thursday evening, October 16, 2003, at Haven Health Care in St. Albans. Mrs. Langevin was born on September 4, 1907, in Mansonville, Quebec, the daughter of Nelson and Mabel (Aiken) Lahue. She worked at B.F. Moore as head inspector for 25 years. She enjoyed participating in the ladies bowling league and the knitting club, golfing, dancing, and playing canasta, and she was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was dedicated to her family and was loyal to her many friends. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. On May 28, 1927, she married Frank A. Langevin at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Newport. He predeceased her on June 27, 2000. She is survived by her daughter Jan Perrault and her husband, Frank, of Westford; by her granddaughter Candis Kjelleren and her husband, Don, of Charlotte; by her grandson Kyle Perrault and his wife, Linda, of Los Angeles, California; by five great-grandchildren; and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by an infant son, Clinton; by her sisters: Agnes Lahue, Doris Cort, and Mary Trempe; and by her brothers Maurice Lahue and Ernest Lahue. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated October 20 at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Newport with the Reverend Larry Ridgely officiating. On July 30, 1966, she married Allyn Bachelder in Derby. He predeceased her on March 21, 1976. She attended schools in St. Ludger. She enjoyed homemaking, cooking, and gardening, and she made wreaths for the last 20 years. , 59, of Rutland died suddenly in Rutland on Saturday, October 18, 2003. Mr. Austin was born in Littleton, New Hampshire, on May 19, 1944, the son of Guy and Lillian (Broome) Austin. He spent many years farming in the Hinesburg and Williston areas before working for Rutland Plywood. He enjoyed attending family gatherings and watching old comedies. He prided himself in being a hard-working family man. He is survived by his children: Sandra Hanley and her husband, James, of Starksboro, Laura Devenger of Forrest Dale, Barbara Austin of St. Albans, Faye Austin and her friend, Bernie Roy, of Middlebury, and Grace Austin of Burlington; by his sister Sheryl Sherman and her husband, Foster, of Highgate; by 15 grandchildren; by one great-grandson; by one niece; by one nephew; and by several aunts, uncles, and cousins. , 80, of Barton died at his home on Saturday, October 25, 2003. Mr. Reynolds was born in New Haven, Connecticut, on June 13, 1923, the son of William and Mathilda (Speigle) Reynolds. On June 23, 1951, he married Mary Ford, who survives him. He was a certified public accountant who worked in the Northeast. He and his wife moved to Vermont in 1989 following his retirement, and he enjoyed working the land here. He belonged to many car clubs, including Packard Automobile Classics, Classic Car Club of America, and Pierce Arrow Club. He and his wife loved getting together with their son, daughter-in-law, and grandson to go to car shows. He is also survived by his son Dan Reynolds and his wife, Gail, of Higganum, Connecticut; by his grandson Randall Reynolds of Higganum; and by his sister Dorothy Buell of Guilford, Connecticut. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated October 29 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Barton with the Reverend Daniel Rupp officiating. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.

She loved gardening and canning her vegetables. She was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church and the Ladies Alter Society in Derby Line. On July 4, 1990, she married Harvey Nadeau, who survives her. She is also survived by her son Andre Bussiere of Newport; by her stepdaughters Mariann Letarte of Dummer, New Hampshire, and Patricia Marchesseault of West Stewartstown, New Hampshire; by her brothers: Arthur Guillete of Seymour, Connecticut, Ernest Guillette of Lewisburry, Pennsylvania, and Telesphore Guillette Jr. of Norwalk, Connecticut; by her sisters: Annabel Card of Callahan, Florida, Cecile Card of Milford, Connecticut, and Lucille Couture of Morgan; by four grandchildren; by two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. , 96, of Newport Center died in Glover on Friday, October 24, 2003. Mrs. Kittredge was born in Morgan on June 7, 1907. She and her first husband, Walter, farmed for many, many years. She enjoyed all types of gardening but especially her flowers. She liked horses and owned a Morgan when she was younger. When she and Walter were first married they liked to ride his motorcycle. She was a hard-working woman who was always willing to give a hand to others. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; by her husband; by one brother; and by two sisters. A graveside service was held October 27 at Newport Center Cemetery with Dennis Bowman officiating. Interment followed.

, 93, of Newport, beloved wife of Harry Fidler, died peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2003, at Newport Health Care Center surrounded by her five loving daughters. Mrs. Fidler was born on November 21, 1909, in Pocasset, Oklahoma, the daughter of Patrick and Ato (Marple) Crickard. The family returned to its home state of West Virginia during her first year. She attended Marshall College in West Virginia and taught in several one-room schools in rural Randolph County. She married Harry on September 1, 1934. He survives her. She and her husband moved to North Troy in spring 1952 and retired to their home in Newport in 1971. They did a great deal of world traveling in connection with his work. She was a member of the Women's Club of the United Church of Newport as well as in West Virginia. She also was a Girl Scout leader and Sunday school teacher there. She was past member of the Friendly Class Union of North Troy and was an avid seamstress who enjoyed making items for family members. She was especially happy when reading and enjoying the arts, attending many different concerts, plays, etc. She epitomized the loving, kind, and caring wife and mother. She is survived by her children: Patty Rouse of California, June and Raymond Gendron of Vermont, Sue and Floyd Shimalla of New York, Sandra Fidler of Florida, and Lillian Fidler of Washington, D.C.; by 16 grandchildren; by 33 great-grandchildren; by two great-great-grandchildren; by a brother, Peter Crickard, and his wife, Patti, of Ohio; by sisters Ruth Hamilton and Jessie Collett, both of Maryland; and by a special nephew, Harold "Picklebud" Crickard and his wife, Wanda. She was one of the first members of the Orleans County Prevention Partnership and was the director for many years. She was presented the Con Hogan Award in recognition of all her efforts. She enjoyed photography. She was a published author and poet. She taught for many years at various levels from early childhood to adult education. She enjoyed having family gatherings and spent a great deal of time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her sons: Mike and his wife, Melanie, Marc and his wife, Felicia, and Brett and his wife, Robin, all of Holland; by her grandchildren: Ben, Tristan, Jamie, Lorraine, Daniel, Shelby, Becky, and Ashleigh; by her brothers Clyde Smith and his wife, Fern, of West Charleston and James Smith and his wife, Ruth, of Barton; by her sisters Beverly Vesper and her husband, Myron, of South Royalton and Joanne Currier of East Granville; and by aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. , 84, of Irasburg died in Barton on Monday, October 20, 2003. Mr. Bousquet was born on a farm in Lowell on October 24, 1918, the third child of Azarais and Gladys (Snyder) Bousquet. He attended graded school in Lowell, and when he left Lowell at age 16, he went to work for Earl Hackett, where he was still working when he married Jeannette Sylvester on December 31, 1939. He later moved to Connecticut and worked on a farm there. In 1945 he was drafted into the Army and served in World War II, spending time in Japan. In 1952 he started the O&L Garage in Irasburg with his brother Leon, later buying his brother out. When he sold the garage in 1962, he went to work for the state highway department, retiring in 1980. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. On February 14, 1987, his wife predeceased him. On March 4, 1990, he married Lucy Smith, who survives him. He is also survived by his siblings: Leon Bousquet of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Marian Meirs of Milwaukee, Reba Cifarilli of Connecticut, Corrine Termini of Connecticut, Paul Bousquet of Connecticut, and Robert Bousquet of Irasburg; by many stepchildren; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings: Elizabeth, Edward, Roger, Lewis, and Gracie. Funeral services were held October 24 with the Reverend Rona Anderson as clergy. , 74, of Haverhill, New Hampshire, formerly of Albany, died Tuesday, October 21, 2003, at his home. Mr. Adams was born on March 10, 1929, in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Willard and Caroline (Bonitz) Adams. He attended schools in the Providence and Warwick, Rhode Island, areas. In Warwick, on July 2, 1951, he married Marie Forleo, who survives him. He was a truck driver for more than 30 years for Eclipse Food Products in the Providence area, and for ten years he worked for Digital Equipment in Rhode Island as head of grounds until he retired. He and his wife moved to Albany in 1990 and then in 2003 moved to Haverhill. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and being in the great outdoors. He also enjoyed his grandchildren very much. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie Adams, of Haverhill; by two sons, Robert Adams of Haverhill and Kenneth Adams of Albany; and by seven grandchildren. At Mr. Adams' request, there were no services. Burial will be held at a later date.
