, 57, of Newport Center, devoted husband and father, died suddenly at his home on Thursday, November 6, 2003. Mr. Petit was born on April 23, 1946, in Newport, the son of Moody and Ruth (Whittaker) Petit. He owned and operated D&S Builders. He loved working in the woods, logging, maple sugaring, and working with wood. On October 1, 1966, he married Elsie Moulton, who survives him. He is also survived by his children: Trixy Baldwin of Newport, Theresa Young and her husband, Carl, of Newport Center, and Darcy Petit of Newport Center; by his grandchildren Amanda and Aaron Baldwin; by his brothers Gordon Petit of Newport Center and Jerry Petit of Coventry; by his sister Betty Rodriguez of Lake Tahoe, California; and by nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and by his brothers Warren and David. Funeral services were held November 11 at Curtis-Britch Converse-Rushford in Newport with Elder Mike Davis officiating. , 76, of Vista, California, died on October 12, 2003. Mr. Turner was born November 13, 1926, in Barberton, Ohio. He met the love of his life, Nancy Lee Hill, in Newport, where they were married 50 years ago. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with many friends and family members in August. A career Marine, he joined the service out of high school. He served on the U.S.S. Midway at the end of World War II, fought in Korea, and served numerous tours of duty in Vietnam and Japan as a public affairs officer. He was highly decorated, including two purple hearts and the Navy achievement medal. He was an avid reader, especially of history. He loved his shop and getaways to the family cabin in Idyllwild, California. He was a man of tremendous intelligence, integrity, and patriotism. He will be missed very much. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; by his daughter Fritzi; by sons Tom Jr. and Jim; by three grandsons; and by three granddaughters. He was predeceased by his youngest son, Sam. , 77, of North Creek, New York, beloved husband of Ardell Anderson Perkins, died on Friday, October 24, 2003, at his home, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Mr. Perkins was born on March 13, 1926, in Danville, the son of the late Gerald and Anna Mae (Cushman) Perkins. He married Ardell Anderson on February 1, 1951. The couple lived in the Adirondacks for 50 years. He knew all the best hunting and fishing spots around. He was employed as a millwright for N.L. Industries in Tahawas for 26 years, retiring in 1980. He was a wonderful husband and father who loved and enjoyed his family. One of his greatest joys of life was sitting and having coffee with his many friends. He is survived by his wife, Ardell; by two sons and four daughters: Terry Perkins and his wife, Cynthia, of Chestertown, New York, Keith D. Perkins and his wife, Kim, of North Creek, Anna M. Goodman and her husband, Philip, of Johnsburg, Donna L. Gross and her husband, Robert, of North Augusta, South Carolina, Kathleen E. TenEyck and her husband, Richard, of Olmstedville, New York, and Tamera L. Sponable and her husband, Brian, of North Creek; by 15 precious grandchildren; by one great-grandson, Kody Perkins; and by his aunt Louise Cushman Piper of Bennington. , 86, of Barton died peacefully November 8, 2003, in Newport. Mr. Dewing was born April 10, 1917, in Glover, a son of Harry and Bernice (Wells) Dewing. He was a World War II veteran. During his lifetime, he was a truck driver for the town of Barton and the state of Vermont. He held membership with American Legion Post No. 23 of Orleans and was well known as a dowser and local historian. He is survived by his children: Raymond Dewing and his wife, Frances, of Orleans, Benita Pray and her friend, Arnold Burclaff, of Barton, and Terry Dewing and his wife, Bonnie, of Orleans; by eight grandchildren; and by 11 great-grandchildren. , 93, of Derby and formerly of Island Pond died in Newport on Tuesday, November 4, 2003. Mrs. Crowe was born in Waterville, Maine, on August 29, 1910, the daughter of Elbridge and Rose (Aldrich) Chase. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, working in her garden, playing cards, and going for rides. On January 10, 1935, she married Thomas M. Crowe, who predeceased her in 1984. She is survived by her children: Sandra Doucette of Derby, Mary Twofoot of Derby, Gerry Crowe of Island Pond, and Bradley Crowe of Newport; by nine grandchildren; and by 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Colleen Daggett; by her grandson Thomas Crowe; by her great-grandson Paul McKee; and by her sister Doris Berry. , 52, of North Troy died in Lebanon, New Hampshire, on Tuesday, November 4, 2003. Mrs. Beaulieu was born in Cairo, Egypt, on May 30, 1951, the daughter of Clio (Charisiadou) and the late Panayotis Dimitriadis. She earned a fine arts degree from the New York School of Arts, studying under Donald Jackson of England. She was self-employed as a fine arts and graphics artist. She loved gardening and landscaping around her home and was environmentally conscious. She loved animals. She was a member of the Wooden Horse Art Guild in North Troy and a member of Animal Rescue of the Kingdom. On July 7, 1979, she married Donald Beaulieu, who predeceased her on April 11, 1998. She is survived by her son Christopher Patrick Beaulieu of North Troy; by her mother, Clio Dimitriadou, of Athens, Greece; by her brother Socrates Dimitriadis and his wife, Hana, of Saudi Arabia; by her nieces Ayla and Melina of Saudi Arabia; by her brother-in-law Gerard Beaulieu and his wife, Priscilla, of East Meadow, Long Island, New York; by her niece Jacqueline Beaulieu of East Meadow; and by her nephew Leonard Beaulieu of East Meadow. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated November 8 at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Newport with the Reverend Larry Ridgley officiating. , 91, died Tuesday, November 11, 2003, at Greensboro Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since 1995. Mrs. Waterhouse, the firstborn of twins to Charles E. and Janette E. (Calderwood) Waterhouse, was born on the home farm in Collinsville in Craftsbury on August 9, 1912. She graduated from Collinsville Grade School and attended Craftsbury Academy until health problems forced her to give up school. She was a devout Seventh Day Adventist. She worked for some time at the New England Sanatorium in Stoneham, Massachusetts, as a housekeeper, later joining her sister Dora in operating Sunset Home for the elderly in Craftsbury Village. They sold the home in 1976 and moved to Brunswick, Maine, where she worked in the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital doing housekeeping until her health failed. Doris and Dora made many beautiful appliquéed quilts for children ("Overall Boy" and "Sunbonnet Girl"). After the death of her sister Dora, she moved to Morrisville and lived at Copley Terrace before entering Greensboro Nursing Home in 1995. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Nettie; by her dear twin sister, Dora; by two brothers, Howard and Herman Waterhouse; by a sister Bernice Waterhouse; and by a half-sister, Ethel Greene. She leaves a sister-in-law, Fay Waterhouse, of Craftsbury; a niece, Eila Moffatt, of Craftsbury; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews. A funeral service was held November 13 at Malcolm R. Davis Funeral Home in Craftsbury Common with Pastor Al Cyr of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Barre officiating. Interment followed in Branch Cemetery in Craftsbury.

, 82, of Craftsbury died unexpectedly on November 11, 2003, bringing to a close his productive and rewarding life on Earth and opening his way to continued life with Jesus Christ. Born in Craftsbury on October 4, 1921, Mr. Calderwood was the son of Hugh and Belle (King) Calderwood. He graduated from Craftsbury Academy in 1939 where he was a member of the band. He continued playing in the Craftsbury Town Band following graduation. He was an elder in East Craftsbury Presbyterian Church, where he was assistant treasurer and a member of the choir for more than 40 years until his death. He was a master Mason and had just received his 50-year pin as an active member of Meridian Sun Lodge No. 20 in Craftsbury. He farmed in Craftsbury with his brother until 1974, then worked at Rowell Brothers Farm Equipment in Hardwick, and did carpentry work for several years. Even at 82, he had not retired. He continued to be an essential member of his family and community by helping regularly with carpentry projects, driving trucks for farm cropping, and conducting regular repairs and improvements at church. A man of innumerable talents, he was an especially gifted carpenter, and many family members have cherished pieces of furniture and home improvements wrought by his able hands. His garden and his maple syrup reflected his attention to detail and insistence on excellence. He enjoyed his family and friends through square dancing with the Lamoille River Swingers, extensive travel, and spirited sugar-on-snow parties where games were played on boards he had made. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Fielda (Tarbell) Calderwood; by his sister Catherine Young of Craftsbury; by his brother Merle "Pete" Calderwood and his wife, Letitia, of Burlington; and by two sons, Ricki Calderwood and his wife, Lynn, of East Highgate and Randi Calderwood and his wife, Louise, of Craftsbury. He considered his wife's children Earlo Pelletier of Windham, New Hampshire, and Donald Dick of Houston, Texas, as his own. Nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three nieces; and a nephew also survive him. A memorial service celebrating his life was held November 15 at East Craftsbury Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Jack Cabaness officiating. Interment was in East Craftsbury Cemetery. Mrs. Thompson was born in Sheffield on December 9, 1923, the daughter of David and Pearl (Bickford) Dopp. She was a nurse at Union House Nursing Home for over 30 years, retiring in 1984. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked to pick berries and go shopping. She and her husband also liked to take leisurely rides around the county and go to fairs. She married George Thompson in 1940, and he survives her. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Dawn Desjardins and her husband, John, of Glover, Pat Thompson and his wife, Julie, of Barton, Aaron Thompson and his wife, Stephanie, of Massachusetts, and Billy Harris of Massachusetts; by her great-grandchildren: Ashley, Jenna, and Alison Desjardins, and Hailey and Connor Thompson; by her brothers: Melvin Dopp and his wife, Gene, of Kirby, Lawrence Dopp and his wife, Donna, of Barton, Marvin Dopp of Vermont, and Calvin Dopp of Westfield; and by her sisters Beverly Parrish and her husband, Lloyd, of Lyndonville and Becky Squires of Sheffield. , 92, a longtime resident of Wolcott, died Friday, November 21, 2003, at Copley Manor in Morrisville, where she had been a resident since October 2000. Mrs. Roy was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on December 15, 1911, the daughter of Angus D. and Maude (Davidson) MacLellan. She grew up in Owensboro, Kentucky, and was a graduate of Owensboro High School. On June 11, 1938, she married Wildred H. Roy. They made their home in Wolcott, coming there in 1975 from Wilton, Connecticut. "Billie," as she was affectionately called, was a member of the United Church of Craftsbury Common, the Craftsbury Ladies Union, the PEO (a national women's group), and the Rug Hookers in Hyde Park. She leaves her children: Emily Roy Cooper of Thayne, Wyoming, Janice Roy and her husband, Steven Young, of Wolcott, Charlotte Roy-Guido and Nicholas Guido of Freehold, New Jersey, and William H. and Deborah Roy of Richmond, Virginia; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Christie Daniel and her husband, Richard, and her son Justin Briggs, of Stephensville, Texas, Michael Cooper and his wife, Kimberly, and their children Scott and Elizabeth of Ft. She was a teacher who loved children and working with children. She played the piano and was active in the church junior choir. She was a good neighbor and friend to many. She was also a generous and giving person with a great sense of humor. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in North Troy and a member of the Friendly Class Ladies Church Group. On September 14, 1938, she married Fay Page, who predeceased her. On January 27, 1946, he married Marion Holland, who survives him. He entered the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II. During his lifetime he was a sales and promotion manager for Union Twist Drill and Butterfield Division of Derby Line. He was a member of the Newport Country Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 798 of Newport, and American Legion Post No. 23 of Newport. He enjoyed deer hunting and trout fishing. Mr. Cutting was born in Derby and moved to St. Petersburg in 1972 from St. Johnsbury, where he owned and operated a nursing home. Prior to that, he was a farmer in Coventry. In St. Petersburg, he worked in renovation at Lakewood United Methodist Church and was an avid gardener and woodworker, making toys and crafts. He was a member of Bay Point Christian Church. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Laura H.; by three sons: Larry D. Cutting of St. Petersburg, Leslie J. Cutting of Pelzer, South Carolina, and Leigh S. Cutting of Augusta, Georgia; by two foster daughters, Carlene Cook and Viola Poirier, both of Coventry; by one brother, Harold Cutting, of Irasburg; by eight grandchildren; and by 11 great-grandchildren. , 60, of Derby died on Sunday, November 23, 2003, at North Country Hospital in Newport. Mr. Boucher was born in Chicoutimi, Quebec, on August 2, 1943, the son of Joseph and Berthe (Deschenes) Boucher. He married Thelma (Tabor) Boucher on August 16, 1968. They celebrated their thirty-fifth anniversary this year. He attended New Hampshire Vocational Technical College and graduated on the dean's list in 1980. His working years were spent building power lines first as a lineman and eventually as a superintendent for companies that include F.A. Tucker, ERSC, and the Seaward Construction Company. His career was prematurely ended due to ill health. He had always dreamed of owning and operating a "little hot dog stand," which he did for several years in Derby. He was always a family man and was very proud of both of his children. His first concern was for his family and friends, whom he cherished and held in high esteem, and was always there to lend a hand. He enjoyed the companionship of his friends young and old and his dog Toby. He especially enjoyed going fishing with his son Rocky and his brother Bruno in Chicoutimi. He loved boxing and especially hockey, co-coaching local youth league teams to three Vermont State Championships in the early 1980s. Throughout his life he spent many hours watching and participating in these hobbies. He liked to travel and never turned down a trip whenever the opportunity arose. He was a very generous man with a kind and compassionate heart. He was a good and loving husband, father, brother, and friend. His passing brings great sorrow to all those who loved him; he will be greatly missed in so many ways and will remain in the hearts of family and friends always. He is survived by his wife, Thelma; by his daughter Jayme Boucher; by his son, Rocky Boucher; by one sister, Dyane Ouillet; by brother-in-law Gilbert Ouillet and daughter Kathy Clermont; by five brothers: Bruno, Serge, Gilles, Andre, and Montcalm Boucher; and by several nieces and nephews.
