, 75, of Waterbury, died March 2.Born in 1924 in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of Teresa (Ferguson) and John Burns McKechnie.In 1942, she married John Phaneuf, who died in 1974.She graduated from St.Anne's Academy in Marlboro, Mass.and worked for the Diamond Shoe Co.there as a seamstress.In 1967, she moved to Waterbury and worked at the Lobster Pot Restaurant in Montpelier later becoming a psychiatric technician at the Vermont State Hospital in Waterbury.She retired in 1980.Her memberships included St.Andrew's Catholic Church.Survivors include her mother; a daughter, Laura-lee Marie Phaneuf; a son, Michael; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

, 40, formerly of Hardwick, died Feb.22.Born in 1959 in Hardwick, he was the son of Bernard and Thelma (Gochey) Ewen.He attended schools in Woodbury, Greensboro and Hazen Union High School.In 1981, he married Diane Bachert.He was employed at Cody Chevrolet in Berlin and Barcomb Motors in Hardwick.More recently he worked for A-1 Autobody in Nevada.Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Ewen and Jessie Ewen; his mother; six brothers; four sisters.

, 87, of Montpelier died March 3.Born in 1912 in Montpelier, she was the daughter of William and Ruby (Demas) Thompson.She attended schools in Middletown, Conn.In 1942, she married Thornton Storr.She had worked as a secretary in the Hartford and Middletown areas.She moved to Ravena, N.Y.and was a seamstress in a women's lingerie factory.In 1993, she moved to Montpelier.She was an accomplished organist who wrote and arranged her own music.Survivors include her husband, Thornton Storr; one daughter, Brenda Thow; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her special friend, Adele Pukel.

, 78, formerly of Waitsfield and more recently from Hancock, died March 3.Born in 1922 in Waitsfield, she was the daughter of William and Carolyn (Bover) Graves.She graduated from Waitsfield High School and Johnson Normal School.She returned to Johnson State College to receive her Human Services degree.In 1942, she married Lee Story, who died in 1985.She taught elementary education in Hancock, Waitsfield and Granville.She and her husband moved to Connecticut, where she worked as an engineering aide at Pratt & Whitney.They returned to Hancock in 1968.Her memberships included the Rochester Federated Church.Survivors include her daughter, Dr.Carol Story; three brothers; one sister; many nieces and nephews; her adopted family, the Keith Jesso family of Hancock.

, 86, of Berline, died March 6.Born in 1913 in Moretown, she was the daughter of Douglas J.A.and Hortense (Sturtevant) Cooke.She graduated from Montpelier High School.In 1933, she married Willard H.McManis and later she married Clifton Haggett, who predeceased her.She was a realtor in Vermont and Florida and was also a baker in Vermont and Connecticut.She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Montpelier.Survivors include three daughters, Janet Lane, Patricia Huckins and Rosalie McManis; three sons, Michael McManis, Willard McManis and Roger McManis; a brother; a sister; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren.
