Royalton High School. She worked in New York as a nanny and later in the kitchen at the Chelsea Area Senior Citizens. In1934, she married Lyman Gilman, who died in 1962. In 1964, she married Erwin Montgomery, who died in 1988. She attended church in Chelsea and Tunbridge. Survivors include her companion of many years, Glen Button and his family; seven children, Mildred Legacy, Lucy Irwin, William Gilman, Charles Gilman, Edward Gilman, Glen Gilman, Anna Hardway; four brothers; four sisters; 26 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

, 78, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Waterbury, died June 28. Born in 1920 in Montpelier, he was the son of Eugene and Susan (Nichols) Magnus. He graduated from Waterbury High School and Norwich University. In 1942, he married Elizabeth Reynolds. He served in the Army and after discharge, entered RPI in Troy, N.Y. and received a degree in Chemical Engineering. Survivors include his wife; five children, Sally Martin, Karen Garcia, Claire Shubert, Lynn Magnus and Mark Jr.; two sisters; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

, 83, of Montpelier, died Aug. 5. Born in 1915 in St. Albans, she was the daughter of Harry and Edith (Cleveland) Bascomb. She graduated from St. Albans High School. In 1954, she married Donald Pine, who died in 1989. She worked most of her life at the National Life Insurance Company. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Montpelier. Survivors include a stepson, Donald Pine; a stepdaughter, Beverly Kingston; a sister; three nieces and nephews; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

, 80, of Barre Town and formerly of Williamstown, died July 30. Born in 1918 in Plainfield, he was the son of Wallace and Lillian (Cutler) Bolles. He attended schools in Plainfield and Barre. He had worked at Windy Wood Farm and with his brother, Ralph, in carpentry and construction partnership known as A&R Bolles Brothers. He was a member of the Hedding United Methodist Church in Barre. Survivors include nephews and nieces and their spouses, Newton Bolles, Leland and Shirlene Bolles, Winfred and Marilyn Bolles, Sandra Bolles; Craig and Marion Casey, Norma Nutbrown, Eleanor Cottrill and Beverly Bolles; cousins; several grand nephews and nieces.

Her husband, Eugene Aither, died in 1983. They had moved to Montpelier in 1969. She worked in the dining hall at Vermont College and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Montpelier. Survivors include nieces and nephews.

She had been employed as a waitress in several Montpelier restaurants, the last one the Montpelier Tavern. She had been employed as a hostess at Norwich University. Her husband, R. Mark Archambault predeceased her. Survivors include two daughters, Jacquelin Archambault Lamell and Marlene Archambault; four sisters-in-law; two granddaughters; four grandsons; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.

He worked at Hobart and William Smith colleges in Geneva, N.Y. and at the U. S. Department of State. He co-founded Crossroad Farm in Post Mills and managed its operation. He also managed H&R Block in Barre in the winter. He served in the Army. Survivors include two brothers and two nieces.

He was employed at Jones and Lamson Machine Shop in Springfield, taught biology at Norwich University and for over 30 years, was the Vermont State ornithologist. He retired in 1984. He was a member of the Green Mountain Gospel Chapel. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Malcolm and John; a daughter, Susan Stewart; two stepdaughters, Nena O'Brien and Gail Canterbury; a brother; eight grandchildren.

(now Warnaco), Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co., and moving to Vermont in 1977, he became Village and Town manager for Waterbury, retiring in 1986. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kia Lynn Commo; two sons, Kent and Kim; three grandchildren; a sister.
