, 85, of Quechee, died March 13. Born in 1913 in Leedale, Alberta, Canada, she was the daughter of S. Walker and Maude (Lampman) Eastburn. The family moved to Northfield, where she attended schools. She also attended schools in Strafford. In 1933, she married Burton Wheeler. She was caretaker of the Madeline Ames Farm in Strafford and also took care of Mrs. Ames. She was a member of the United Church of Strafford. Survivors include her husband; a son, David Brown; a grandson; a great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.

, 74, formerly of Waitsfield and more recently of Poultney, died March 15. Born in 1924 in Danville, he was the son of Mahlon and Mantie (Adams) Jamieson. His career included farming, automobile and agricultural sales, working for Harvestore and Vigortone Products. He retired in 1990. Survivors include his wife; E. Janet (Croney) Jamieson; a daughter, Judith Jamieson; four sons, M. Richard, Lawrence C., David E. and Donald; two sisters; 10 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

, 92, of Barre, died March 16. Born in 1907 in Groton, she was the daughter of Gaetano and Lucia (Pacini) Buzzi. She attended schools in Groton and Montpelier. In 1932, she married Amletto Broggi, who died in 1980. She had worked at Vogue Shop and Berganti's Dress Shop in Barre. She was a member of the Barre Congregational Church. Survivors include a sister, Ivis Tomasi; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

, 68, of Moretown, died March 18. Born in 1930 in Moretown, she was the daughter of Walter and Anna (Peterson) Brooks. She was a graduate of St. Michael's School in Montpelier. In 1951, she married Homer Plastridge. She worked as a housekeeper and was employed in the cafeteria at the Moretown Elementary School and later as a teacher's aide at the Orange Elementary School. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Moretown. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Paula-Jean Plastridge, Karen-Ann Brown and Patti J. Brown; two sons, Tim and Chris; five grandchildren; a sister; nieces and nephews.

, 85, of East Montpelier, died March 12. Born in 1914 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of Samuel Covert Chessman and Olive Loretta (Ashby) Chessman. She attended Westminster College in Utah and Logan Academy in Utah. In 1937, she married Albert E. Slayton, who died in 1989. She was a ballroom dance teacher, a secretary, a homemaker and helped her husband in his business. She attended the Bethany Congregational Church in Montpelier. Survivors include three sons, Ronald W., A. Richard and Robert L.; a sister; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Spaulding High School and served in the Air Force for 22 years and as a contract programmer for more than 25 years in Calif. Survivors include his wife, Jean (McCarty) Thompson; a son, Steven; a daughter, Jill; five step-children, Earl Gochey, Jan Gochey, Fred Gochey, Ellie Crowley and Gay Philbrick; three brothers; a sister; several grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

, 83, of South Barre, died March 13. Born in 1915 in Philadelphia, Pa., she was the daughter of Charles and Marion (Fulton) Schaubel. She was a graduate of Kensington High School for Girls in Philadelphia. In 1938, she married Rev. Walter T. Hempel. She was choir director at her husband's pastorates in Pa. They have lived in Barre with their daughter since 1989. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Philadelphia. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Bonnie Rinehart; a son, Walter Hempel II; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He worked at the former Derby and Ball Manufacturing Company and later for S.T. Griswold Concrete. He had also been an independent truck driver, working locally for Art Stone Trucking and Lacillade Lumber Company. He retired in 1992. In 1970, he married Patricia Blackmore. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Denise Coburn and Tabitha Rivard; seven sons, John, Morton, Jesse, John Jr., Michael, Spencer and Patrick; 36 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five sisters; one brother; nieces and nephews.

, 92, of Barre, died March 17. Born in 1907 in Barre, she was the daughter of Cirillo and Fortunata (Hofer) Palaoro. She attended Barre schools and graduated from Spaulding High School and from Mary Fletcher Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse at the Copley Hospital and in 1947, became a maternity nurse at the former Barre City Hospital and later at Central Vermont Hospital. She retired in 1972. Survivors include two sisters, Adeline Canales and Dorothy Puente; two nieces, Sylvia Canales and Norma Birmingham.

He served in the Army during WWII and married Lorraine Nelson in 1947. He built homes in the greater Waterbury area and in the Mad River Valley. He was a member of the Waterbury Congregational Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Randall and Jeffrey; a daughter, Valerie Zimmerman; a great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.

Born in 1917 in Hanover, N.H., he was the son of Jesse and May (Daigle) Gibbs Sr. He attended elementary school in Quechee and North Montpelier, and Montpelier High School. In 1938, he married Anna Chapin, who died in 1970. He served in the Army during WWII. He worked at the North Montpelier and Northfield woolen mills and more recently was a meter reader for the Barre office of the Gas Company of Vermont. Survivors include a brother, Paul Gibbs; a sister, Helen Patch; nieces and nephews.

She attended St. Mary's School in Fair Haven and graduated from Brownsville High School in Brownsville, Texas. She later graduated from the Thompson School of Practical Nursing in Brattleboro. She worked at Glens Falls Hospital in N.Y. and more recently at the McFarland House in Barre. In 1961, she married Kenneth W. Farnham. She was a homemaker and was a member of St. Monica Church. Survivors include one son, Michael; one daughter, Ann Farnham; three grandchildren; three sisters; two brothers; several great-aunts; nieces and nephews.

She grew up in Bakersfield and graduated from Brigham Academy and from the University of Vermont. She later did graduate work at UVM and St. Michael's College. In 1943, she married Alexander McWilliam, who died in 1985. She began her teaching career in Westford and later taught at Essex, Richmond, Hardwick, Spaulding and Merritt Island (Fla.) high schools. She was a member of the United Church of Hardwick. Survivors include two sons, Robert and James; a sister; three grandson; two nephews.

, 77, of Duxbury, died March 19. Born in 1921 in Duxbury, he was the son of Charles and Maude (Phillips) Sherman. He was educated in Moretown, Duxbury and Waterbury. He later completed four years of agricultural training under the GI bill. He served in the U.S. Infantry during WWII. In 1946, he married Florence Whitworth. They operated a dairy farm and he began working for Demeritt Co. in 1962. In 1965, he began working for the Vermont State Hospital farm, retiring in 1981. Survivors include his wife; a son, Francis; a daughter, Janice Quimby; two grandsons; a great-granddaughter; a sister; an aunt; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He graduated from Spaulding High School and attended Tilton Preparatory School in Tilton, N.H. He graduated from the University of Vermont with a BS degree in mathematics. He married Phyllis (Martin) Mann. He worked in business management for United Aircraft, Gerber Systems and was president and owner of M.S.I., a computer software company. He retired as a consultant at Promis Systems. He was a member of the Wapping Community Church. Survivors include his wife; his mother; a son, Wilbur Jr.; two daughters, Rebecca McConnell and Cori Jodice; seven grandchildren; and his constant canine companion, "Sadie."
