, 72, of Barre, died Aug. 9. Born in 1927 in Manchester, N.H., he was the son of Morton and Ola (Wiggins) Muncil. He attended schools in Middlesex and New York State. In 1949, he married Lorraine Hughes. He was employed as manager of Twin Town Volkswagen and Walker Motors for several years. He then owned and operated Yard Master Auto Body in Barre. He had served in the Army during WWII. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Jacqueline Dutil , Dona LeBlanc and Jennifer Muncil-Lindell; five grandchildren.

, 66, of Waitsfield, died Aug. 9. Born in 1932 in Cabot, he was the son of Leo and Marion (Badger) Burbank. He graduated from Waitsfield High School. He served with the Navy and the Air Force, serving during the Korea and Vietnam wars. In 1958, he married Beverly Willey. They had lived in Plainfield and in 1972, moved to Waitsfield. He had worked for the Town of Waitsfield Road Department, carried mail for the US Postal Service and delivered and worked for Partstown in Waitsfield. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Arnold and Robert; two daughters, Debra Burbank and Sandra Burbank; four grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; nieces and nephews.

, 69, of Waterbury, died Aug. 8. Born in Newbury, she was the daughter of Harold and Lorena (Huntress) Lunge. She graduated from Waterbury High School and received a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in education from the University of Vermont. She taught at South Ryegate Elementary School and at Waterbury Elementary School, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Waterbury Congregational Church. There are no survivors.

, 86, of Montpelier, died Aug. 8. Born in 1913 in Tell City, Ind., she was the daughter of May Bruner and Elmer Pannett. She graduated from Bosse High School and Lockyears Business School in Evansville, Ind. In 1935, she married Donald Judd, who died in 1981. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Evansville (Ind.). She retired from Whirlpool and in 1996, moved to Montpelier. Survivors include a daughter, Dona Koenemann; a son, Michael Judd; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and cousins.

, 98, of Washington, died Aug. 6. born in 1901 in Websterville, she was the daughter of Patrick and Harriet (Barber) Moran. She attended schools in Websterville, Washington and later studied in the former Goddard Seminary in Barre. In 1919, she married Ralph Downing Sr., who died in 1966. She was a long-time member of St. Cecilia Church in Washington. Survivors include one son, Richard; four daughters, Dorothy Aiken, Patricia Pellon, Beverly Berte and Janet Lambert; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; nieces and nephews.

, 36, formerly of Waterbury and more recently of Colchester, died Aug. 10. Born in 1963 in Montpelier, she was the daughter of McAulliffe E. and Mary Ellen (Barry) O'Brien. She graduated from Harwood Union High School, received an associate's degree in education from Champlain College and a bachelor's degree in education from Norwich University. She was recently enrolled in the master's program in special education at the University of Vermont. In 1994, she married Marc C. Ziegler. She began her career conducting home visits for the Head Start program in Montpelier and later taught part-time at Calais Elementary School. She was a special education teacher at elementary schools in Tilton and Merrimack, N.H. and conducted home visits for Head Start in Laconia, N.H. More recently she was employed as a special educator at Essex Town Middle School. She had been a field hockey and track coach at Montpelier High School and field hockey coach at U-32 Jr.-Sr. H.S. She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Waterbury. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Ryan Ferris and Erich Ziegler; her father; her mother; a sister; two brothers.

, formerly of Barre and more recently of Boca Raton, Fla., died June 20. Born in 1922 in Barre, he was the son of Julia (Barquin) and Manuel Cano. He attended schools in Barre and graduated from Spaulding High School. In 1945, he married Millie Buckingham. He moved to Florida in 1956, where he was in the shoe business until retirement. He had served in WWII. Survivors include Victor and Anthony Cano, Paul and Joseph Barquin and Angela Densmore.

She graduated from the Green Mountain School, a school developed for children with special educational needs. She was a member of St. Augustine's Church. Survivors include her brother, Norman (Joe) Coates and his wife, Louise; her sister-in-law Janice Baird Coates; 11 nieces and nephews and her special friend, Janet Reed.

He served in the Army during WWII. In 1948, he married Elsie Hayes. He was employed by Wyman's Inc., Sun Oil Co. for 30 years and self-employed for 10 years in the oil business. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Linda Papineau; two sons, Walter and Larry; six grandchildren; his mother; two brothers; several nieces and nephews.

, 61, formerly of Montpelier, died Aug. 7. Born in 1938 in Montpelier, he graduated from Montpelier public school, the University of Vermont and Boston College Law School. He was engaged in private practice through 1977 and served as deputy defender general and correctional facilities defender for the State of Vermont from 1977 to 1980. He moved to Tenn. and became senior counsel at Legal Services, was director of Dakota Plains Legal Services in Mission, S.D., returned to Vermont in 1985 and was defender general through 1987. He co-founded the firm of Hoff, Curtis, Pacht, Cassidy and Frame, P.C., retiring in 1995. He served in the Vermont House of Representatives from the Town of Charlotte. Survivors include his three children, David Jr., Julia Curtis and Christopher Curtis; his former wife, Dr. Nanci Ames Curtis; three brothers; one sister.

, 86, of Topsham, died Aug. 19. Born in 1912 in Corinth, he was the son of Robert and Ada (McIndoe) Hodge. He received his education in Corinth and Topsham schools and graduated from Bradford Academy. In 1940, he married Gertrude Martha Darrow. He worked for more than 30 years at the Bowen-Hunter Bobbin Co. in East Corinth and then at Dixie Bobbin Co. in Barre, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Topsham United Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, William and Paul; three daughters, Georgianna Spooner, Martha Emerson and Cynthia Gauthier; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one niece; one nephew; several grandnieces and grandnephews; cousins.

, 74, of Williamstown, died Aug. 14. Born in 1924 in Barre, he was the son of Wayne and Mary (Farquhar) Martin. He graduated from Williamstown High School and served in the U.S. Maritime Service and the Army. He joined the Vermont Highway Department and became a Survey Party Chief and later with the Utilities Section and the Construction Section. In 1986, he was promoted to Utilities Engineer and served in that capacity until retiring in 1987. In 1957, he married Winifred Putney. He was a member of the Williamstown Methodist Church and the Williamstown United Federated Church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carol Martin; a son, Daniel; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; nieces, nephews, on uncle; one cousin.

, 88, formerly of So. Royalton and more recently of Burlington, died Aug. 14. Born in 1911 in So. Royalton, she was the daughter of Dana and Mary (Palmer) Dearing. She graduated from So. Royalton High School. In 1931, she married Robert Mitiguy, who died in 1982. She was librarian at Royalton Memorial Library and was also a news correspondent for the White River Valley Herald. She was a member of the United Church of So. Royalton. Survivors include two sons, Roger and Gary; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

, 90, of Barre, died Aug. 13. Born in 1909 in Websterville, she was the daughter of James and Marguerite (Eastman) Lawson. She attended Websterville schools and graduated from the former Goddard Seminary and from the former Barre City Hospital School of Nursing. In 1934, she married George MacDonald. She and her husband operated MacDonald's Service Station. Her husband died in 1986. She also managed their summer cottages at Harvey's Lake until 1997. Survivors include one daughter, Rita Jean Suyemoto; one son, James; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

, 89, of Bethel, died Aug. 17. Born in 1909 in Hancock, she was the daughter of Wallace and Mable (Sprague) Fleming. She attended Hancock and Rochester schools. Her first husband, Robert Norton, predeceased her. In 1974, she married Merrick Everett, who died in 1994. Mrs. Everett was a homemaker. Survivors include two sons, Robert and Wallace; three daughters, Helen Wakefield, Mary Knapp and Anna Smith; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

, 80, of Barre Town, died Aug. 18. Born in Barre Town in 1918, he was the son of Alphonse and Emeda (Savoie) Paquet. He attended schools in Barre Town and served in the Marine Corps during WWII. He was employed by Wells & Lamson until his retirement. He then worked part-time at Trow & Holden. In 1940, he married Ruby Spredbury, who died in 1984. In 1985, he married Ada Buick, who died in 1992. He was a member of St. Monica Parish. Survivors include one son, Pastor Robert Paquet; one daughter, Rhonda Paquet; two step-daughters, Gloria Duff and Genella Heath; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five sisters; many nieces and nephews.
