, 78, of Montpelier, died Nov.18.Born in 1920 in Montpelier, he was the son of Julian and Perfecta (Acebo) Aja.His family moved to back to Santander, Spain when he was young and he received his education there.He later returned to the United States and continued his education at Columbia University.He served with the Navy during WWII.In 1949, he married Florence Brousseau.He was a designer for the State of Vermont Highway Department, retiring in 1985.He was a member of St.Augustines Church.Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Linda Sands; Mary Jennings; seven grandchildren; a sister; a brother; nieces and nephews.

, 82, of Chelsea, died Nov.21.Born in 1916 in Chelsea, he was the son of Dean and Margaret (Comstock) Gilman.He was educated in Chelsea schools and graduated from Chelsea High School and the Vermont School of Agriculture in Randolph Center.In 1945, he married Norma Gates, who died in 1997.They purchased the family farm in Chelsea, which they sold in 1987.He served in the Army during WWII.He held many positions with local government, among them town auditor for 46 years.Survivors include six sisters, Etta Goodwin, Winifred Gilman, Nancy Hoyt, Doris Daszkiewics, Barbara Swanwick and Judith Reneau; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
