, 43, of Northfield, died May 18. Born in 1954 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., he was the son of Sterlin H. and Margaret (Blanchard) Whiteley. He grew up in Newport and graduated from high school in Louisiana. He had served with the Army and was employed as an insurance representative and a carpet installer. In the late 1980s, he became a chef at Norwich University, retiring in 1990 for medical reasons. Survivors include his wife, Rose (Dukette) Whiteley; his mother; four sons, John, James, Jerid and Isaiah; a daughter, Freedom; a stepson, Keith; four sisters; two step-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

, 72, formerly of East Montpelier, died May 7. Born in 1926 in Fairhaven, Mass., he was the son of Horace and Sarah (Munroe) Noble. He attended schools in Cabot and Corinth. In 1969, he married Dorothy Bijolle. He was a dairy farmer in East Montpelier and a carpenter in Florida for the past 14 years. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Brenda Noble and Katrina Sirera; a grandson; two sisters; a brother; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

, 73, of Barre, died May 18. Born in 1924 in Ste. Hycinthe, Quebec, Canada, he was the son of Albert and Rose Alva (DuPaul) Cusson. He attended schools in Ste. Hycinthe. He moved to Barre in 1952 and was employed at Rock of Ages, retiring in 1989. In 1953, he married Irene Sage, who died in 1997. They had owned and operated a business making Christmas wreaths and selling Christmas trees. He was a member of St. Monica Parish. Survivors include four daughters, Lorraine Carrier, Jeanne Trevett, Rose Cusson and Linda Johnson; five grandchildren; three sisters; nieces and nephews.

, 63, of Randolph, died May 18. Born in 1935 in Randolph, he was the son of Clifton and Margaret Corse. He graduated from Randolph High School and served in the Army. He had worked at Rogers Brothers Construction Co. and later as an electrician with S.D. Clark. He was recently a self-employed electrician and operated a company recycling antifreeze products. In 1957, he married Beatrice Miller, they later divorced. Survivors include his mother; a son, Scott; a half-brother.

, 85, of Greensboro Bend, died May 18. Born in 1913 in Craftsbury, she was the daughter of Roland and Florence (Wells) Stearns. She attended public schools in Hyde Park and Craftsbury. In 1938, she married Donald Nelson Willey. She worked at the Taylor General Store in Craftsbury and later as a domestic in the Greensboro area and for the Greensboro area school lunch programs. She retired in 1975. She was a member of the Greensboro Bend United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband; a son, Frank; five daughters, Shirley Pearson, Sylvia Gates, Virginia Richardson, Linda Smith and Jeanette Guyette; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four brothers; two sisters; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He worked at the Vermont Copper Mines in South Strafford and farmed in Chelsea and was a logger. He was also employed by Cooley Construction in Websterville. In 1935, he married Marion Greene and in 1995 married Vivian Anna Ramsey. He was a member of West Hill Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Lois (Mrs. Allen) Flint, Grace (Mrs. Stanley) Flint and Patricia (Mrs. Lloyd) Farnham; a stepson, William Woodruff; nine grandchildren; one step-grandson; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; nieces, nephews and cousins.

In 1934, he and his brother joined their father in establishing Clark's Transfer Service Inc., a granite and monument hauling business. It was sold in 1981 and he worked part-time until retiring in 1996. In 1943, he married Kathryn Hill, who died in 1988. In 1994, he married Jean Scrizzi. He was affiliated with the Barre Congregational Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, Stephen; two daughters, Marcia Clark and Barbara Smith; seven grandchildren; two step-daughters, Nancy Routier and Sandra Forrest; three step-grandchildren; a niece and a nephew.

He was employed as a trucker driver for 45 years, first with G.T. Evans and later with Merrill Transport. He retired in 1979. He was a member of the Federated Church. Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Lacey and Mary Lou Quinones; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister; a brother; nieces and nephews.

She taught high school in Vermont and New York, served on the faculty board at Boston University and was an administrator in the mathematics department Doctoral Program at Columbia University in N.Y., from which she retired. She is survived by cousins.

He had served in the Army during WWII and was employed at Bailey's Feed Co. in Greensboro Bend for many years. He also worked at Ethan Allen Furniture Co. and was a plumber. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church in Greensboro Bend. He had volunteered at Buffalo Mountain Co-op in Hardwick for a time. His wife, Theresa (Guay) Hussey predeceased him. Survivors include two sons, Dennis and Anthony; two daughters, Rachelle Holmes and Anita Reinhardt; a sister; four granddaughters; nieces and nephews.

He had worked at Derby and Ball Inc. and in 1944, purchased a farm on Blush Hill, which he operated for 20 years. He later worked as a psychiatric technician at Vermont State Hospital and then sold for Fuller Brush Co. He retired at age 85. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Rushford and Janice Dean; a son, Everett; 27 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was a bookkeeper for her husband's construction business and a member of St. Monica Church. Survivors include a son, Leo; three sisters, Olivette Brassard, Felicia Calarco and Madeline Taflin; a brother, Ferdnand; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.
