, 88, of Montpelier, died March 31. Born in 1910 in Berlin, she was the daughter of Daniel and Nellie (Gregory) Sallies. She graduated from Montpelier Seminary and from Lyndon Normal School. In 1954, she married Gerald L. Roberts. She was a teacher for 28 years, teaching in East Montpelier, Calais, Pomfret, North Hartland, Springfield and Montpelier. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Morey; two sons, Earl and Gerald Jr.; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one cousin.

, 69, of Montpelier, died March 30. Born in 1929 in Middletown, N.Y., she was the daughter of George and Pearl Fountaine. She attended St. Michael's Elementary School and St. Michael's High School. In 1948, she married Franklin Magoon, who died in 1976. She was employed by the Vermont National Bank in Montpelier, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Survivors include nieces, nephews and cousins.

, 80, of East Barre, died March 20. Born in 1917 in Santander, Spain, he was the son of Florindo and Ramalda (Maza) Teja. His family moved to East Barre when he was three. He attended the East Barre Elementary School and graduated from Spaulding High School. He joined the Army National Guard, serving for 22 years. In 1945, he married Bonnie Babcock. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Edward, Jim and Dan; seven grandchildren; four sisters; many nieces and nephews.

In 1936, he married Alice Hawes Barker, who predeceased him. He was a member of Christ Church (Episcopal). He was employed at Vermont Mutual Fire Insurance Co., retiring in 1982. He served in the Army during WWII. Survivors include three sons, William, Stephen and James; a twin sister; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

They had lived in New Hampshire and New York, before moving to East Montpelier in 1984. He worked for the Food, Machinery and Chemical Corp. as a developer and salesman. At age 77, he began writing essays, many of which were published. Survivors include his wife; a son, Charles; a daughter, Deborah Straw; two grandsons; six great-grandchildren; three brothers; a sister; many nieces and nephews.

She received her early education in East Montpelier and graduated from Montpelier Seminary. She worked at VanRaalte Co. in Randolph and later as a nurse's aide at Gifford Memorial Hospital. She retired in 1977. In 1937, she married Arthur Paul Mack, who died in 1996. Survivors include a son, Vernon; three daughters, Janice Brown, Carolyn Clark and Deanna Young; a brother; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Academy and earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He joined the Rock of Ages and later became president and chairman. He was chairman of the board of National Life Insurance Co. and also served on the board of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston, Amonskeag Company, United Mutual Fire Insurance, Central Vermont Railway, Garden Way Inc., and others. Survivors include his wife, Jane (French) Gillette; a daughter, Deborah Gillette Law; a son, Edward; two grandchildren; a sister; two nephews.

They had lived in Conn., moving to Northfield in 1986. She was disabled and lived with her daughter and family in China, Maine, until a month ago. Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Lee Cowling; three sons, Clifford Jr., David and Douglas; two sisters; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was a bookkeeper for her husband's landscaping business and also worked as a waitress. She had also worked with her husband on the family farm and for the last 20 years, had been a home care provider. She was a member of St. Edward's Church in Williamstown. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Bottiggi; two sons, Andrew and Robert; six grandchildren.

She had worked at the former North Montpelier Woolen Mill and later at Sprague Electric in Barre. She was a member of Woodbury United Methodist Church.
