, 99, of South Royalton, died March 14. Born in 1897 in Bethel, he was the son of Charles F. and Myrtie (Woodard) Shepard. He attended schools in Bethel. He served with the Army during WWI and was employed as a telephone operator and at Graham's Hardware, both in Bethel. He established Shepard's Jewelry & Stationery Store in South Royalton, which he operated until 1963. Afterward, he conducted business from his home for several more years. In 1921, he married Blanche Hazzard, who died in 1994. He was a member of Miller Memorial United Methodist Church in Bethel. Survivors include his daughter, Hazel (Mrs. Roger) Welch; two sons, Harold and Robert; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a nephew and a niece.

, 62, of South Royalton, died March 14. Born in 1934 in South Easton, Mass., she was the daughter of James and Jennie (Merry) Avery. She attended school in East Bridgewater, Mass. and South Royalton High School. She owned and operated Junie's Gift Shop on Route 14 for many years. In 1969, she married Richard Rogers. Survivors include her husband; one son, James; a stepson, Charles; four step-daughters, Mary Demar, Sandra Lini, Sharon Franch and Bonnie Perkins; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother; three sisters; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

, 82, of Montpelier, died March 20. Born in 1915 in Barre, he was the son of Leonardo and Antoinetta (Antivi) Tomat. He attended Barre City schools and Spaulding High School. He was a veteran of Army Air Force, serving during WWII. He was an auto mechanic for Harry Rossi in Montpelier and later a custodian at Montpelier High School. He was a call fireman for the Montpelier Fire Department. In 1951, he married Katherine Conlin, who died in 1992. Survivors include two brothers, Ado Tomat and Leonard Tomat; a sister, Esther Savoia; nieces and nephews.

, 71, of Barre, died March 17. Born in 1925 in Burlington, he was the son of Peter and Annie (Barclay) Griffith. He graduated from Plainfield High School. He was a maintenance engineer and boiler technician for Heald Machine Company in Worcester, Mass., retiring in 1986. In 1945, he married Wilma Bartlett. They moved to Barre in 1991. He was a member of Montpelier Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Steven, Robert and Douglas; one daughter, Cindy (Mrs. Ernest) LaBelle; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

, 76, of Northfield, died March 17. Born in 1921 in Strafford, he was the son of Gerald and Marie (Mayberry) Pixley. He received his education in Strafford and at Thetford Academy. He was employed as a carpenter and farmhand in Strafford and Chelsea and in New Hampshire. He served with the Army Air Force during WWII. He later worked for the Boston and Maine Railroad, Vermont Copper Mines in South Strafford and Enfield (N.H.) Box Company. He also worked at Arbor Acres Farms Inc. in Conn., and at Malmquist Wood Products in Post Mills, retiring in 1986. In 1942, he married Pauline Gray. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Clifford, Douglas and David; a daughter, Sandra Lee Cowing; three brothers; one sister; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Machine Co., retiring in 1982. He was a WWII veteran, serving with the Army Air Corps. , 95, of Randolph Center, died March 16. Born in 1901 in Warren, he was the son of Elijah and Harriet (Curtis) Fuller. He attended schools in Warren. In 1924, he married Gertrude Neal, who died in 1975. He later married Ethel Hunt, who died in 1985. He worked for Lynn Gas and Electric Company in Mass. He moved to Rochester in 1927 and to Randolph in 1936. He sold Rawleigh products and purchased a dairy farm in Randolph Center, operating it until 1966. He sold farm machinery for L.W. Greenwood and in 1975, established a horse dentistry practice, working throughout Vermont and New Hampshire. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Bean and Audrey Otto; five stepsons, Wallace, Norman, Herbert, Sheldon and Royce Hunt; seven grandchildren; six great-grand-children; many nieces and nephews.

They moved to Oregon, where they operated a grocery store on an Indian reservation. They then moved to Washington D.C., where he was an administrative assistant to several United States congressmen. He later established his own business in government information services, operating it until 1971. Survivors include three daughters, Diana Celia, Christine Ahern and Cindy Isabelle; four sons, Larry, Ronald, Kevin and Timothy; six grandchildren; a brother; a sister; several nieces and nephews.

Wobby, who died in 1967. They had lived in Barre, operating Wobby's Market and the Twin City Motel. In 1969, she married Richard M. Cody, who died in 1972. She was a member of St. Monica Church. Survivors include one son, Richard Wobby Sr.; three daughters, Catherine Sawyer, Agnes (Mrs. John) Ormsby and Mary Ann (Mrs. Charles) Bizzozero; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister; several nieces and nephews.

In 1928, he married Josephine Marion Carpenter, who died in 1951. In 1955, he married Mae Dillion; they later divorced. In 1962, he married Doris Benway, who died in 1981. He had worked at Rock of Ages Quarry, at Windsor Machine Products, at Court Products in White River Jct. and at Dartmouth College. He retired in 1971. Survivors include five sons, William, Jordan, Stewart, Jerome and Thomas; two daughters, Lillian Burchett and Betty Anne MacLaughlin; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In 1969, he married Sharon LaFountain. He worked at V.L. Perkins Co. Furniture Store and Perkins-Parker Funeral Home in Waterbury. He also operated the Dairy Creme in Montpelier and ran a snow plowing business. Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Hersey; a son, Matthew; his mother; two brothers; three nieces and a nephew.

He attended schools in Grayland until his family moved to Barre, where he continued his schooling. He was first married to Aurelia Andreoletti in 1932. In 1950, he married Savina Arioli. He was a master carpenter and later became self-employed in the construction field. He also worked for other construction firms, retiring in 1975. He was a member of St. Monica Parish. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Harold Jr. and Dana; three daughters, Judith (Mrs. Richard) Robbins, Katherine (Mrs. Ronald) Mackie and Maydean McLaughlin; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers; one sister; several nieces and nephews.
