, 64, of Northfield, died Nov. 29. Born in 1932 in Barre, he was the son of William and Edith (Stevens) Drury. He attended Barre schools. He served in the Army during the Korean War. In 1956, he married Joan Partlow. He was a stonecutter, having worked for Rock of Ages Corp. and Montpelier Granite Works, and retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Northfield. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Douglas, David and Daniel; three daughters, Deborah Croteau, Denise Mercadante and Daphney Williams; two brothers; three sisters; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews.

, 90, formerly of Barre, died Dec. 2. Born in 1906 in Barre, he was the son of William Walker Russell and Ida May (Cluness) Russell. Prior to retirement, he was a federal bank examiner working for the United States Government. His wife, Mary Storti Sassi Russell, died in May of this year. He had been a member of Barre Congregational Church and was a Navy veteran of WWII. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Russell; a stepson, Charles Sassi; eight step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren.

, 66, of Barre, died Dec. 1. Born in 1931 in Barre, he was the son of Arthur and Louise (Stacy) Blais. He attended Ayers Street and Lincoln schools and graduated from Spaulding High School. IN 1952, he married Earlene Shannon. He served with the Army National guard and while on active duty, he served two tours in Vietnam. He was first employed by Sealtest Ice cream Co. of Barre and later as a draftsman for Buttura & Son Granite Co. and North Barre Granite Co. He later became bookkeeper for Twin City Sandblast and was employed at Timber Village in Quechee. Survivors include his wife; a son, Dr. Mark Blais; three daughters, Sheila Duranleau, Lynn Blais and Shannon Blais; eight grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

, Jr., 74, formerly of Calais, died Nov. 30. Born in 1923 in East Calais, he was the son of William and Helen (Gray) Abbott. He attended schools in East Calais and Cabot. He served in the Army with the 101st Airborne Division during WWII. In 1950, he married Patricia H. (Smith) Abbott. He worked at Cone Blanchard Machine Tool Co., retiring in 1986. Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael; three daughters, Debra Kelly, Donna Dougher and Kathleen O'Neill; two brothers; a sister; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

, 84, of Williamstown, died Nov. 30. Born in 1913 in East Montpelier, he was the son of Addison and Mamie (Felix) Peck. He attended the Plainfield School. In 1939, he married Violet E. Bernier. He was a truck driver for many years for the Ray Churchill Trucking Co., a granite transfer company, from which he retired. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Shirley J. Barnhill and Sandra E. Field; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

, 92, of Berlin, died Dec. 3. Born in 1905 in New York City, he was the son of John and Anna (Kerrigan) Ward. In 1923, he married Irene Carroll. They bought a farm in East Calais in 1955. She died in 1993. He worked at Consolidated Edison Electric Co. and had served in the New York City Police Department prior to moving to Vermont. Survivors include a son, the Rev. Donald Ward; two daughters, Rosemary Barrow and Dorothy Connolly; 12 grandchildren; 10 grat-grandchildren.

, 88, of Barre, died Dec. 4. Born in 1909 in Wolcott, she was the daughter of Merton and Stella (Richards) Cochran. She had lived most of her live in Groveton, N.H., where she graduated from Groveton High School. She moved to Barre in 1972. She had worked for New England Telephone as an operator and also a route carrier for the St. Johnsbury Caledonia Record. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Grovetown and attended St. Monica Church in Barre. Survivors include nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was a registered nurse, having graduated from the Barre City Hospital School of Nursing. she served in the army Nursing Corps during WWII. She married Raymond Spellman. She attended the Calais-Woodbury Parish. Survivors include three sisters, Lorraine Cate, Hazel Cate and Francis Rogers; nieces and nephews., Lashua, Robert R., 73, of East Montpelier, died Dec. 2. Born in 1924 in Williston, he was the son of Raymond and Marguerite (Bell) Lashua. In 1945, he married Margery Fletcher. He served with the Navy during WWII. He worked at Staples Granite Co. and for Colombo Granite Co., retiring after 30 years of service. Survivors include his wife; two sons, David and Peter; four granddaughters; two nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews.

, 86, of Barre, died Dec. 1. Born in 1911 in Santander, Spain, she was the daughter of Jose and Soledad (Olavarri) Sancibrian. She came to the United States at age three and settled in Barre, where she attended schools. In 1930, she married Rudolfo Alzaga. They operated Alzaga's Market on South Main Street in Barre. Mr. Alzaga died in 1975. Survivors include a son, Rudolph; two daughters, Irene Alzaga and Louise McGibney; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister; several nieces and nephews.

, 77, of Waitsfield, died Dec. 2. Born in 1920 in Bellows Falls, he was the son of Thomas and Maria (Simard) Tremblay. He was educated in Middlebury and served with the Navy during WWII. In 1952, he married Sally J. Wimble. He operated a farm and founded the VerdMont Trailer Park and converted the farmhouse into a ski lodge, operating it for 12 years. He later became employed at Bisbee Hardware and then established Tremblay Plumbing and Heating, which he operated for 32 years. He was a member of Our Ladey of Snows Church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Rita Viens; a son, Thomas; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a great-grandson; four sisters; five brothers; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In 1943, she married Philip Heath, who died in 1990. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in St. Johnsbury Center and later the First Baptist Church in Montpelier. Survivors include her two daughters, Ruth Ann Bean and Charlene (Sherry) Giguere; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a niece.

Survivors include his wife; his mother; three stepdaughters, Denise Tracy, Michele Dunbar and Renee Trace; eight grandchildren; a brother; a half-brother; two aunts; nieces and nephews.

In 1949, she married Larry Horton. She was employed as a pastry chef as various restaurants and worked as a cook at Vermont College in Montpelier. Survivors include a son, Stephen; a granddaughter.

, 94, of Warren, died Dec. 7. Born in 1903 in Randolph, she was the daughter of Deane and Gertrude (Jones) Fassett. She graduated from Randolph High School and Randolph Normal School. In 1922, she married Charles W. Bissell, who is deceased. She taught elementary school in Brookfield, Beanville and North Fayston and was a substitute in the Warren school system. She also worked as a mail carrier and served as town auditor in Warren. She also cooked at Camp Downer and at Maple Leaf Nursing Home in Essex Center. Survivors include two daughters, Muriel Griffin and Marion Snow; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

, 47, formerly of Barre, died Dec. 6. Born in 1950 in Barre, he was the son of Theodore and Margery (Geach) Buck. He graduated from North Country High School and Lyndon State College. He had been personnel director at Newport Plastics Corp. and Columbia Plywood and later at Sprague Electric Co. in Barre. He was appointed by Gov. Kunin as director of job training for the state of Vermont. He moved to Washington, D.C. and at the time of his death was senior vice president of Lee, Hecht and Harrison. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Buck; two sons, Devin and Nathan; two sisters.
