, 89, of Montpelier, died Feb. 2. Born in 1907 in Gorham, N.H., she was the daughter of Joseph and Ellen (Vincent) Lavertue. In 1922, she married Adelelard Brosseau, who died in 1979. She was employed at Reddy Company, retiring in 1973. Her memberships included St. Augustine Church. Survivors include two sons, Simon and Frederick; two daughters, Florence Aja and Sally Bilodau; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one sister.

, 64, of Montpelier, died Dec. 22, 1996. Born in 1932 in Philadelphia, he was the son of Daniel Bobb Slattery and Phoebe (Atkinson) Slattery. He spent the early years of his life in Montpelier and later attended Kimball Union Academy, a preparatory school in Meriden, N.H. He earned his bachelor's degree in sociology and history and his master's in education from St. Lawrence University. In 1957, he married Sally Stone. He taught social studies and history classes in New York schools, retiring in 1990. Survivors include his wife; one son, Thomas; two daughters, Kathleen Kennedy and Carol Slattery; two grandchildren; one brother.

, 71, of Barre Town, died Feb. 2. Born in 1925 in Barton, he was the son of Albert and Kate (Smith) Norton. He attended schools in Washington. He worked for Wells-Lamson Quarry Company, the Wetmore & Morse Quarry, Adamant Quarries, Brusa Brothers Granite Company and more recently at Northeast Granite Company, retiring in 1988. In 1955, he married Virginia Edson. Survivors include his wife; one son, Leo Jr.; six daughters, Eugenia Norton, Sarah Norton, Pamela Douglass, Tina Dennis and Sandra Norton; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters; nieces and nephews.

, 83, of Waterbury, died Feb. 3. Born in 1913 in Waitsfield, she was the daughter of Samuel and Mary (Sherman) Farnsworth. She attended schools in Moretown. She was employed as a nurses aide at the former Heaton Hospital in Montpelier and then by the former Demerritt Company in Waterbury. Survivors include three sons, Ronald, Thomas and Donald; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

, 97, of Barre, died Jan. 31. Born in 1899 in Carthage, S.D., she was the daughter of Edgar and Margaret (McLean) Taft. She moved to Marshfield when she was a child and received her early education there, graduating from the former Goddard Seminary in Barre and later attending Burlington Business College. She was employed by Union Central Life Insurance Company, retiring in 1963. She moved to Barre in 1982. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Congregational in Springfield, Mass. Survivors include her guardians, Thomas and Shirley Maclay and cousins.

, 89, of Barre, died Jan. 31. Born in 1907 in St. Sophie, Quebec, he was the son of Edmond and Odila (Delisle) Demers. He attended schools in Canada. The family moved to Massachusetts and then to Websterville and later to Barre. He was employed by the A.M. Flanders Company. In 1940, he married Mary A. Duprey. In 1950, he founded Demers Repair Shop, which he owned and operated until retiring in 1972. He was a member of St. Monica Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dennis and Edmond; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers; several nieces and nephews.

, 77, of Barre, died Jan. 31. Born in 1919 in Barre, she was the daughter of Francesco and Filamena (Desantis) Magrone. She attended Barre schools and graduated from Spaulding High School and from Goddard Seminary. In 1950, she married Raymond Sumner, who died in 1984. Survivors include her daughter, Raylene (Mrs. Jeffrey) Lissor; a stepson, Russell Sumner; four grandchildren; two brothers; nieces and nephews.

, 34, formerly of Barre, died Feb. 1. Born in 1962 in Wichita Falls, Texas, she was the daughter of Joseph and Carolyn (Hinton) White. She attended Barre elementary schools and Spaulding High School. She attended college in California. She returned to Barre and more recently made her home in Burlington. She was a member of the St. Monica Parish. Survivors include two daughters, Jaime and Carmen and two sons, Matthew and Gabriel; her mother and stepfather, Carolyn and George Malek; two sisters; her grandmother; five nieces and nephews; several aunts and uncles.

, 100, died Jan. 25. Born in 1896 in Marshfield, she was the daughter of Susan Putnam Hollister Duke and Forrest Levi Duke. In 1921, she married William Burrnet Barrows. She was employed by the War Department and later was the secretary to the Secretary of the Treasury. She returned to Vermont in 1961. Survivors include a daughter, Constance Lilly; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a half-brother; a half-sister; several nieces and nephews.

, 70, of Williamstown, died Feb. 1. Born in 1916 in Brookfield, she was the daughter of Philip and Hazel (Smith) Seymour. She attended elementary school in Brookfield, graduated from Randolph High School and later earned a degree as a registered nurse. She worked in several area nursing homes as well as the former Barre City Hospital. In 1961, she married Herve Roy. She was a member of the Williamstown United Federated Church. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Roger and Scott; one daughter, Debbie Seaver; two stepdaughters, Hervena Martin and Regina Lang; two grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; nieces and nephews.

, 89, of Barre, died Feb. 6. Born in 1908 in Milan, Quebec, she was the daughter of Charles and Annie (McLeod) Thom. She received her education in Barre City schools and Spaulding High School. She was first married to Kenneth Alexander, he is deceased. In 1934, she married Henry McBride, who died in 1976. She worked at the former Rock of Ages Capacitor Plant and later was employed by the Homer Fitts Company. Survivors include a daughter, Sally (Mrs. Lee) Flanders; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

, 96, of Northfield, died Feb . 3. Born in 1901 in Orange, she was the daughter of Wilford and Josephine (Blow) Sayah and attended Orange schools. In 1928, she married Charles Waldo Clifford, who died in 1955. She was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Church in Northfield. Survivors include a brother, Leo Sayah and several nieces and nephews.

, 80, of Groton, died Feb. 5. Born in 1916 in Groton, she was the daughter of Alfred and Eva (Patten) Bailey. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Farnham and Mary Hanson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her husband, Glen G. Delano, died in 1964.

, 61, of Northfield, died Feb. 5. Born in 1935 in Northfield, she was the daughter of Harry and Mildred (Pecor) Willey. She graduated from Northfield High School and served with the Navy.In 1960, she married Bernard Marcotte. She worked in the mess hall at Norwich University and more recently was a department manager at Rich's Department Store in Berlin. Her memberships include St. John the Evangelist Church in Northfield. Survivors include her husband; three sons, John, Bernard Jr. and Frank; three daughters, Cynthia Marcotte, Stephanie Doherty and Tammy Surprise; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brothers; six sisters; several nieces and nephews.

, 76, of Middlesex, died Feb. 1. Born in 1920 in Groton, Conn., she was the daughter of Ray and Ruth (Maynard) Gauthier. She was employed by the Vermont Department of Agriculture. Survivors include one son, Thomas; one daughter, Judith Doner; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; an aunt.

, 51, formerly of Montpelier, died Jan. 31. Born in 1945 in Montpelier, he was the son of Sherwood and Helen (Corry) Murray. He was a graduate of Montpelier High School, studied at the University of Vermont and University of Bluefield in West Virginia. He obtained his master's in business administration through the University of Iowa. He had worked for General Electric, for the Burlington Northern Railroad. In 1992, he moved to Doylestown with Helm Rail Equipment Service and was currently its vice president. He was a member of the Providence Reformed Baptist Church. He was married to Cheryl (Grout) Murray. Survivors include his wife; his parents; three daughters, Kelley Wilkinson, Michelle Wilkerson and Erin Sprouse; one grandson; one sister; one brother; two nieces and two nephews.

, 81, of Graniteville, died Feb. 6. Born in 1915 in Duxbury, she was the daughter of Rubin and Bessie (Haskins) Sherman. She attended Duxbury Elementary School and Waterbury High School. In 1934, she married Frederick McGrath, who died in 1974. She had worked at the former Cross Bakery and at the Pelkey Boarding House in Graniteville. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Survivors include five sons, Richard, Frank, Frederick Jr., Reginald and Donald; two daughters, Geraldine Pixley and Rose (Mrs. John) Dufresne; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one sister.

, 66, of Montpelier, died Feb. 9. Born in 1930 in Hardwick, he was the son of Herbert and Lina Grace (LaPlant) Randall. He attended Montpelier High School and served with the Air Force for 20 years, retiring in 1971. In 1955, he married Teresa Barnard. Following retirement from the military, he was employed by the Barre City Police Department. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Debra Randall; one son, Dale; a granddaughter; his mother; one brother.

, 52, of South Royalton, died Feb. 12. Born in 1944 in Nashua, N.H., he was the son of Weston Eugene Paul and Mildred (Welch) Trombly. He graduated from Milford (N.H.) High School. In 1966, he married Margaret Davis. He was a technician for Eastern Artificial Insemination Corp. until 1976. In 1979, he moved his family to South Royalton where they purchased the Jules Caron Farm, renaming it Hemlock Hollow Farm and operating it for several years. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Micheal and Matthew; one daughter Jennifer; two sisters; two brothers; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
