, 65, of South Barre, died May 19. Born in 1931 in Barre, he was the son of Jean Rene and Eva (Dumas) LaRouche. He attended St. Monica School and graduated from Spaulding High School. He had worked for the family business, J.R. LaRouche Custom Printing Shop and later at the Barre Times Argus. He served in the Army during the Korean War and in 1956, married Lucille Groleau. He served with the Barre City Fire Department's Call Force and was fire chief of Barre Town Fire Department from 1981 until retiring in 1995. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sylvia Charron; two sons, David and Leo; eight grandchildren; a brother; nieces and nephews.

, 71, of Orange, died May 20. Born in 1925 in London, England, she was the daughter of Thomas and Jane (Godfrey) Gill. She attended schools in England. In 1945, she married George Wild Sr., who died in 1993. Survivors include two sons, George Jr. and David; a daughter, Jean Edson; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers; a sister; nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews.

, 82, of Randolph, died May 14. Born in 1915 in Randolph, he was the son of Moses and Albertine (Masse) Barcomb. He attended schools in Vermont and Massachusetts and served in the military during WWII. He farmed, worked as a blacksmith, owned a lawn mower shop and worked as a welder, retiring in 1971 to farming. His wife, Virginia Fish Barcomb, died in 1994. Survivors include two sons, Danny and Jerry; a sister; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

, 79, formerly of Barre, died May 15. Born in 1917 in Graniteville, she was the daughter of Alexander and Evalyn Ewen. She attended Barre City schools and graduated from Spaulding High School. She went into nursing training, but it was interrupted by the War. In 1944, she married Ernest Ironside, who died in 1990. She was a telephone operator and worked at Barre City hospital as a switchboard operator. She continued working there in the purchasing department; her last position was that of accounts payable clerk. She retired from Central Vermont Medical Center in 1995. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Hastings; a brother; a niece; grandnieces and grandnephews; cousins.

, 61, of Northfield, died May 17. Born in 1935 in Springfield, Mass., he was the son of Samuel and Elsa (Gill) Chambers. He attended schools in East Longmeadow, Mass. and graduated from American International College. He served with the Navy from 1953 to 1961. He had worked for WJOY Radio Station in Burlington, was assistant editor for the Vermont Catholic Tribune and editor of the University of Vermont Alumni Magazine and UVM publications. He also worked in Windsor area schools as a counselor. Survivors include a sister, Dorothy (Mrs. John) Morral; a brother, Samuel Chambers; a niece and a nephew.

, 93, of Waterbury, died May 18. Born in 1903 in Rutland, he was the son of Herbert and Elizabeth (Trombley) Gillam. He graduated from Rutland High School and Bliss Engineering School in Washington, D.C. In 1926 he married Beulah Kirby, who died in 1993. He moved to Waterbury and was assigned to the Burlington management office to help with the change-over from manual to dial operations. He became staff supervisor. After retirement, he worked as a spare technical operator for radio station WDEV. He belonged to the Waterbury Congregational Church. Survivors include two sons, David and Thomas; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother; nieces and nephews.

He worked as a machinist in Hartford, Conn., during WWII. He returned to Waterbury and worked for the Vermont State Hospital, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the St. Andrew's Catholic Church of Waterbury and St. Augustine Church of Montpelier. In 1950, he married Mary Laviolette. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sandra Cooper; two sons, Phillip and John; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters; a brother; nieces and nephews.

He received his early education in Barre and was nominated for a candidate to West Point in 1945. He served with the Army during the Korean War. He attended the University of Connecticut and St. Louis University and received an engineering degree from Northrop Aeronautical Institute in Hawthorne, CA. He worked at Edwards Air Force Base in CA. and at the aerospace program at Cape Canaveral, FL. He also worked at Rocketdyne Corp. He left the aerospace industry and returned to Vermont and owned and operated Mary's Market and Strout Realty, retiring in 1983. Survivors include a son, Dennis; two daughters, Regina Rebich and Sheila Bordeau; his mother; two brothers; a sister; his former wife, Hazel Parker Geake; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He attended St. Michael's Graded School, graduated from St. Michael's High School and attended City College in New York City. He served in the South Pacific during WWII. He was a manufacturer's representative in the granite industry for 60 years. He was a member of St. Petronville Church in Glen Ellyn, Ill. Survivors include his wife, Mary (Traynor) Emmons; two sons, John and Frank; four daughters, Margaret Sents, Susan Hoffman, Kathleen Mullane and Maureen Kawka; 17 grandchildren; two sisters.

In 1940, she married Theron Rice, who died in 1966. She taught in Barre Town and Hartford and was a teaching principal at Quechee Elementary School. She retired in 1971. Survivors include a stepson, Coy Rice; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two nieces, Phyllis Paquet and Olive Vermette.

In 1940, he married Rachel Nichols. He provided school bus transportation in Barre Town before the consolidated school was built. He also owned and operated Arnholm's Body and Frame Shop and sold used cars on the Barre-Montpelier Road. He was a member of St. Monica Church. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Tanis Olson and Christina Barnard; a foster daughter, Irene Morrill; four grandchildren; one brother; two sisters; a foster sister; one nephew; three nieces.

She attended public schools in Montpelier and graduated from Montpelier High School, Richardson Business School and from Montpelier Seminary. In 1926, she married Frank E. Stackpole, who died in 1963. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She had been employed at E.W. Bailey & Co., at Union Mutual Insurance and at National Life Insurance Co. She was a secretary and receptionist until her retirement in 1978. Survivors include a sister, Gladys Premo; a cousin; nieces and nephews.

He received his early education in Hardwick and graduated from Montpelier High School. He attended college in Lawrence, Mass. and then enlisted in the Marine Corps. He earned a criminology degree from Metro University. In 1970, he married Jean Gallison. He drove truck for McClain Western Co. in Colorado and was a Colorado state trooper and member of the Colorado Highway Patrol. Survivors include his parents; a daughter, Stefanie (Mrs. Jeffrey) Salli; a son, Martin; two sisters; aunts and uncles; two nieces; and cousins.
