, 95, of Barre, died March 12. Born in 1902 in St. Malo, Quebec, she was the daughter of George and Meranda (Favreau) Therrien. In 1926, she married Hercule L. Gauthier, who died in 1956. In 1964, she married Napoleon Grenier, who died in 1973. She was a member of St. Monica Church. She is remembered by many people as an accomplished seamstress. Survivors include four sons, Gaston, Fernand, Norman and Gerald; five daughters, Cecile (Mrs. Carroll) Fuller, Lorraine Norkeveck, Carmen Gauthier, Francois (Mrs. Paul) Carrier and Noella (Mrs. Tulvio) Durand; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a brother; several nieces and nephews.

, 82, of Waitsfield, died March 7. Born in 1914 in Palisades, N.J., he was the son of Ralph and Felicie (Pierne) Stubbs. He earned a degree in electrical engineering from City College of New York and worked for many years for the Chemical Construction Corp. in New York, retiring in 1979. In 1944, he married Dolerita Holloway and in 1982, they moved to Waitsfield. Mrs. Stubbs died in 1996. While in Waitsfield, he was dispatcher for Mad River Valley Ambulance Service. Survivors include two daughters, Dolerita Gansz and Roberta Egan; one son, Gilbert; four grandchildren; two sisters; a brother; nieces and nephews.

, Sr., 78, of East Montpelier, died March 8. Born in 1918 in Worcester, he was the son of Fred and Blanche (Graves) Witham. He spent his early years in Worcester and was educated in Worcester. He served with the Civil Con-servation Corp. and in 1941, joined the Army Air Corps, serving during WWII. He worked for Cross Bakery Company in Montpelier and was in the construction trade business, having been employed by Charles Ellingwood and Waugh Con-struction Company. Survivors include his wife, Helen Bailey Witham; three sons, Carroll Jr., Bradley and Bruce; two grandchildren; two brothers; nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Montpelier High School and from Bradford Junior College, receiving a degree from American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. She was a member of the Women's Army Corps. She married Lt. Col. William Bowden while in the service. She had been a member of the Goldsboro Players and the Montpelier Theater Guild. She was more recently employed at Glove Theater in San Diego, Champlain College and the Shelburne Museum. Survivors include her son, Douglas; two grandchildren; two sisters; two nephews and one niece.

In 1936, she married Roy Walker, who died in 1992. She was employed as an operator by New England Telephone Co. Survivors include two son, Roy and Robert; one sister; two nieces and one nephew.

He graduated from the former Holy Ghost School in Graniteville. In 1936, he moved to Concord, N.H., where he was employed by Brezner & Allied Tannery, from which he retired. Survivors include a daughter, Rita Beard; four sisters; two brothers; many nieces and nephews; and an aunt. His wife, Josephine (Pelillo) Berard, died in 1985.

She was in charge of the hot lunch program in the Riverton School for many years and also worked for the Real Good Toy Company out of her home. She was a member of MacKenzie Memorial Methodist Church in Riverton. Survivors include her husband, Clair Leslie; one son, Ronald; two grandchildren; two nieces.

He had worked for Whitney's of Franconia, N.H. and Whitcomb Siding of Littleton, N.H. Since moving to Groton, he had been self-employed. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor (Young) Corliss; a daughter, Loretta C. Robinson; six brothers; three sisters; his stepfather; many nieces and nephews.

She attended schools in Ireland and came to the United States in 1929. In 1942, she married Henry J. DeFalco, who died in 1980. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Bradford. Survivors include nieces, nephews and cousins.

, 59, of South Woodbury, died Feb. 23. Born in 1937 in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Gerald and Honora (Moloney) O'Connor. He graduated from St. Francis College in Brooklyn with a degree in philosophy and attended graduate school at Fordham University. He received his master's degree from University of Vermont. In 1959, he married Noreen Carr. He was an iron worker in New York City and taught on Long Island, N.Y. He and his family moved to South Woodbury and became residents in 1973. He taught in the Montpelier school system for 23 years. Survivors include his wife, Noreen; his sons, Brian, Seth and Terence; his daughter, Deirdre Ann; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She attended schools in Boston and graduated from the Chandler Business School there. In 1942, she married Maurice Mercer, who died in 1980. She was employed at Gifford Memorial Hospital in Randolph and later worked as a secretary for at Orange County Mental Health, from which she retired. She was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Ann Wheatley; a son, Peter; four grandchildren.

In 1946, she married James W. Gable, who died in 1989. She had been a partner with her husband, father and brother in the operation of Bailey Warehouse, Bailey Bros. and other related businesses. She and her husband also founded and owned Gable Auto Paint and Supplies and Gable Warehouse. She was a member of the Montpelier Church of Christ. Survivors include a son, Craig; three daughters, Cynthia, Debra and Jane; two grandchildren; a brother; a half-sister; nieces and nephews.

He taught school in West Fairlee and Thetford and was town clerk in West Fairlee. He later moved to New York and continued teaching. There are no known survivors.

He was a member of the Barre Universalist Church. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Suzanne (Mrs. Robert) Cassavoy and Tracy (Mrs. Richard) Henrikson; five granddaughters.

He attended St. Michael's Elementary School and graduated from St. Michael's High School. He joined the Montpelier Fire Department and continued as a volunteer until 1979. He had been a member of the Coast Guard. In 1945, he married Helen A. Schefisch. He attended Boston School of Embalming and returned to Montpelier. He succeeded his father in the management of Guare & Sons Funeral Home, retiring in 1984. In addition to the funeral home, he also operated an ambulance service in the central Vermont area. He belonged to St. Augustine Church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Margaret (Mrs. James) Bouffard; four sons, Phil, Thomas, John and Paul; three granddaughters; one grandson; two step-grandsons; two brothers; one sister; many nieces and nephews.
