, 65, of Waterbury, died April 22. Born in 1932 in Duxbury, he was the son of Edmund and Delta (Billings) Lovely. He graduated from Waterbury High School and served in the Navy during the Korean War. In 1954, he married Dorothy Manley. He worked for Davison Furniture Co. and for the V.L. Perkins Co. Furniture Store. He later was employed at Perkins-Parker Funeral Home and more recently was employed at IBM as a maintenance engineer. He retired in 1987. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Arlene Torrey; a son, Dean; eight grandchildren; a brother; two half-sisters; a half-brother; nieces and nephews.

, Jr., 76, of Tunbridge, died April 21. Born in 1921 in Swanton, he was the son of Willard and Rose (Delma) Hilliker Sr. He attended schools in Swanton and was a veteran of the Army Air Force, having served in WWII and the Korean War. In 1949, he married Betty Young. He worked in the woolen mills in Hartford, Lebanon, N.H. and Bridgewater and later was a carpenter and house painter for the Connecticut Valley Corporation in Con-necticut. More recently, he was employed by Anthony Doria in South Royalton. Survivors include his wife; a brother, Robert; four sisters, Pauline LaBrie, Arlene Corey, Betty Jane Cadieux and Shirely Evans; nieces and nephews.

, 72, of Websterville, died April 19. Born in 1925 in Berlin, N.H., she was the daughter of Peter and Emile (Couture) Lemieux. She attended St. Monica School, graduated from Spaulding High School and attended Vermont Junior College in Montpelier. In 1946, she married Gordon Robinson, who died in 1987. She had been employed by Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company in Barre, retiring in 1990. She was a member of St. Sylvester Church in Graniteville. Survivors include one son, Ira Robinson; one brother, Daniel Lemieux; one sister, Dolores Colbert; three nieces; three grand-nieces and a grand-nephew.

, 90, of Brookfield, died April 20. Born in 1905 in New York, he moved to Brookfield when he was a child. He worked on several area farms and in 1969, moved to the Larry and Joyce Brassard farm. In 1995, he moved to Gifford Elder Care in Randolph.

, 57, of Plainfield, died April 18. Born in 1939 in Guilford, Maine, he was adopted at birth by Robert and Barbara (Campbell) Steward. He graduated from Guilford (Maine) High School and received a bachelor of science degree in industrial arts from Gorham (Maine) State Teachers College. In 1962, he married Lena Marstaller. In 1976, he married Janet R. Barasch. He taught industrial arts in Pittsfield and Houlton, Maine and at Hazen Union High School in Hardwick. He had grown potatoes while in Maine and continued to after moving to Vermont. In 1976, he founded R.J. Forest Products, a logging and trucking company, which he operated until his death. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Rachel Leah Steward and Aron Barbara Steward; two sons, Clinton and Staff Sgt. Walter Steward; four grandchildren; his mother.

In 1951, she married Emile Hebert, who died in 1988. , 87, of Northfield, died April 29. Born in 1909 in New York City, he was the son of Louis and Rose (Belgiamini) Confessore. In 1935, he married Diane Terilli and they lived in Northfield most of their married life. He retired from the military in 1964, serving during WWII and the Korean War. He was an ROTC instructor and later assistant superintendent of buildings and grounds at Norwich University, retiring in 1982. He belonged to St. John the Evangelist Church in Northfield. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Clement and Gary; two sisters; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

In 1926, she married Melvin Wright, who died in 1954. In 1958, she married Maynard Sanborn, who died in 1980. She had been a secretary and retired from the medical records department at Kerbs Memorial Hospital in St. Albans in 1980, returning to Barre in 1983. She was a former member of the Barre Congregational Church and attended St. Albans Congregational Church. More recently, she attended the Church of Christ in South Barre. Survivors include her daughter, Elaine Ruth (Mrs. Elmer) Brown Jr.; a step-daughter, Ruth Bodreau; a step-son, Lester Sanborn; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several cousins.

She graduated from Albany State College and taught French at the high school in Shelter Island, N.Y. In 1940, she married Franklin W. Hallock. She worked at the public library and in 1961, began teaching at Greenport (N.Y.) High School and later at Southhold (N.Y.) High School. She earned a master's degree in library science from State University of New York at Albany and was school librarian at Mattituck (N.Y.) High School, retiring in 1979. She and her husband moved to Montpelier in 1994, he died in the following year. She was a member of St. Mary's Church (Episcopal) in Northfield. Survivors include two daughters, Marjorie Seelinger and Lucille Hallock; two sons, John and Franklin; eight grandchildren.

He attended Northfield schools, graduated from Northfield High School and received an associate degree in business from Green Mountain Junior College in Poultney. In 1941, he married Irene Currier, who died in 1988. He served with the Army Air Corps during WWII. He had operated a sand and gravel pit, an excavating business, a paving firm and was president of Dog River Speedway, in Northfield. In 1953, he established D&D Concrete Co. Inc. He sold the business in 1968 and was involved in various other enterprises and business ventures. He was a member of Northfield United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Martha (Mrs. Charles) Haynes; a granddaughter; a grandson; a brother; several nieces and nephews.

In 1935, he married Rebecca MacAulay. He had been a salesman for Cross Bakery in Montpelier and later worked for Capital Candy, for Robert Doyle and for Bond Auto. After retirement in 1976, he worked part-time at Guilmette's service station in Montpelier. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Patricia (Mrs. Orton) Patch and Nancy (Mrs. Anthony) Hill; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother; nieces and nephews.

, 81, of Warren, died April 23. Born in 1916 in Suisun-Fairfield, CA, he was the son of Floyd and Rosa Fortna. He graduated from Stanford University with a degree in engineering and served with the Air Force during WWII. He worked as a ski school director in the Sierra-Nevada Mountains in California. In 1947, he married Lixi Redlich, who died in 1995. After coming to Vermont in 1954, he purchased the former Flanagan Farm in Moretown. Besides farming, he taught skiing at Mad River Glen S ki area. He designed and built the Golden Horse Lodge, which he operated for the next 17 years. He also taught skiing at Sugarbush. Survivors include a son, Victor; a daughter, Rosi Fortna; two grandchildren.
