She received her early education in Rochester, graduated from Rochester High School and received a bachelor of arts degree in education from the University of Vermont. In 1962, she married Thomas Lang. She was an English teacher in Richmond and a supervising teacher in the Chapter I remedial reading program in the East Montpelier and Worcester schools. She was recently employed in the Reading Recovery Program at Rumney Memorial School in Middlesex and Calais Graded School. She was a member of St. Augustine Church. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Melissa Lang and Julia Lang; a son, Roderick Lang; her parents.

, 70, of Northfield, died Oct. 6. Born in 1927 in West Charleston, he was the son of Fred and Rose (Nichols) Gilbert. He attended Northfield schools. He served in the Navy during WWII. He was a truck driver for area granite sheds and later for Maxham Supply Co. in Worcester. He retired in the late 1980s. Survivors include his daughter, Charmaine Dailey; a stepson, Jeffrey Thurston; a brother; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He and his first wife, Evelyn Sweeney, were divorced. In 1991, he married Rosina Kane, who died in 1994. He worked as a fruit picker and farm laborer in Florida. Survivors include a son, Rex; two stepsons, Kenneth and Emery Kane; a daughter, Louise Aldrich; three stepdaughters, Alice McManus, Mary Tabor and Hilda Burgess; several grandchildren; a brother; a sister; nieces and nephews.

, 89, of Barre Town, died Oct. 15. Born in 1908 in Warren, she was the daughter of John and Bessie (Fuller) Neill. She attended Jones Brook School in Moretown. In 1933, she married Max L. Grout, who died in 1976. She was employed at Rock of Ages Capacitor Plant and at Malden Mills. She was a member of the Barre Universalist Church and a former member of Hedding United Methodist Church. Survivors include four sons, Marvin, Harold, Mark and Fred; two daughters, Bessie Clinton and Beulah Lanpher; 25 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

In 1947, she married Edgar Byam Sr. In 1984, she married James D. MacKenzie, who died in 1986. She had worked at the Pavilion Hotel in Montpelier, the Vermont College food services and for Marriot Food Services at Norwich University. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Jerome Byam and Edgar Byam Jr.; a daughter, Esther Fisk; four step-daughters, Jane MacKensie, Jo-Anne Hoblit, Judith Peters and Janice Galonka; fives stepsons, Joseph MacKenzie, James MacKenzie Jr., John MacKenzie and Jerry MacKenzie; a brother; a half-sister; 22 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was educated in Butler schools and she was a member of the Faith Presbyterian Church. In 1926, she married Herbert McCafferty, who died in 1985. They moved to Waterbury in 1971, where she was a member of the Waterbury Congregational Church. She had worked at Williams Jewelry Store in Butler (PA). She attended Westville Elementary School in Groton and graduated from Groton High School and Lyndon Teachers College. In 1945, she married Wayne Bressette. She was an elementary school teacher in North Ryegate, Orange and in Washington. She was also assistant postal clerk at the Washington Post Office and served as town auditor. She attended Washington Universalist Church. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Graham, Joseph and Brent; four grandchildren; two sisters; a brother; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He served with the Navy during WWII and was vice president of sales for American Mineral Spirits Corp. of Murray Hill, N.J. and became vice president of sales for Vermont Weather Board Corp. in Wolcott, retiring in the mid 1970s. Jennison General Store, Gordon Burt General Store and Rock of Ages Capacitor Plant in Barre. She attended Hedding United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Federated Church of Waitsfield. She attended schools in Rock Island, Quebec and came to Graniteville in 1926. She worked at Heaton Hospital and in 1945, married Bernard LeMay, who died in 1965. She worked as a bookkeeper for Granite Memorial Shop and as a secretary for the Granite Cutters Association when she retired. In 1970, she married Armand Filion, who died in 1988. She was a member of st. Monica Church. Survivors include a sister, Leona Marcotte; several nieces and nephews.
