He was first employed as a lab technician in Boston and later worked in the granite industry until his retirement. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. , 88, of Marshfield, died June 5. Born in Cookshire, Quebec, he was the son of Joseph and Annie (Matthew) Lowry. He came to Vermont as a young boy and spent most of his life farming and logging with draft horses. He also bred registered Belgian draft horses, managed a flock of 50 sheep and raised hogs, poultry, goats, dogs and cats. His first wife, Bertha Humphrey Lowry is deceased. Survivors include his wife, Ruth (Agar) Lowry; four daughters, Natalie Beaton, Linda Lou Lowry, Dawn Lowry and Robin Clements; a granddaughter and a grandson.

In 1951, she married Warren Whitney, who died in 1996. She had worked at the Forrest Poultry Outlet in South Royalton and retired from HEB Manufacturing Co. in Chelsea. She had also worked as a domestic in the central Vermont area. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She received her early education in Calais and graduated from Plainfield High School. In 1950, she married Robert Thomas. She worked in various departments for the state of Vermont, and was most recently employed by International Coins and Currency. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Deborah (Mrs. Normand) Desrochers and Trudy Thomas; a son, Martin; nine grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; nieces and nephews.

After the war, he returned to Hardwick where he owned and operated Hill's Taxi Service. In 1949, he married Lorraine Fournier. They moved to California, where he worked for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Co. They returned to Hardwick in the early 1960s, where he and his wife owned and operated Hill's Diner and later Hill's Men and Boys Shop. He retired in 1979. He was a member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church. Survivors include; his wife; two sons, James and Robert; his mother; six grandchildren; two sisters; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In 1933, she married Clayton Carr, who died in 1960. In 1963, she married E. Lloyd Parry, who died in 1965. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Northfield. Survivors include a sons, Aaron Carr; two daughters, Ruth Ann Marshall and Cheryl (Mrs. Warner) White; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
