, Jr., 59, of East Montpelier, died May 26. Born in 1937 in Chelsea, he was the son of Arthur P. and Flossie (Dumont) Morey. He attended Chelsea Elementary School and Chelsea High School and served with the Navy during the Korean War. In 1972, he married Marilyn L. Roberts. He was employed by Allen Lumber Co. in Montpelier and at the former Sprague Electric plant in Barre. He was also employed by the Tex-Fax Co. and Wal-Mart, both in Houston, Texas. He returned to Vermont in 1996 living in East Montpelier. Survivors include his wife; a son, Bruce; a daughter, Bonnie Morey; a stepson, Sidney Nelson; a step-daughter, Sharon Martin; three sisters; an aunt and uncle; seven grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

, 63, formerly of Royalton, died May 19. Born in 1934 in Royalton, he was the son of Walter and Gladys (English) Churchill. He attended schools in Royalton. He worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Corp. in Hartford, Conn., prior to serving with the Army. Most of his working years were spent as a carpenter, employed by Green Mountain Box in White River Junction and for several road construction companies. He retired in 1975. In 1977, he married Susan C. Cattanach. They moved to Fort Myers Beach, Fla., 18 years ago. Survivors include his wife; his mother; two sons, Nelson Jr. and Daniel; a daughter, Lorinda Allen; two stepsons, Robert Vesper and William Vesper Jr.; four brothers; two sisters; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

, 66, of Waterbury, died May 23. Born in 1931 in Waitsfield, she was the daughter of Clarence and Dorothy (Collins) Lamson. She was a graduate of Waterbury High School. She had worked as a housekeeper for the former Waterbury Inn and later as a waitress at several central Vermont restaurants, a nurse's aid at the former Boudreau Nursing Home in Moretown and a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn in Waterbury. She retired from the Vermont State Hospital in 1989 as a psychiatric technician. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Charles, Howard and James; nine grandchildren; four sisters; seven brothers; several nieces and nephews.

, 90, of Barre Town, died May 26. Born in 1907 in Essex Junction, she was the daughter of Louis and Mary (LaPan) Bruya. She attended Barre schools and graduated from Spaulding High School. In 1934, she married Wendell Hurry, who died in 1983. She retired in 1969 from the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles, where she was supervisor in the licensing department. She was member of St. Monica Church. Survivors include a niece, Kathryn Canton Watson; a grandniece; two grandnephews.

, Sr., 64, of Orange, died May 27. Born in 1932 in Manchester, N.H., he was the son of William and Abigail (Tucker) Lyons. He received his early education in St. John's School in Concord, N.H. and graduated from St. John High School. He received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from New England College in Henniker, N.H. and served with the Air Force during the Korean War. In 1962, he married Sandra McKay. He was employed as a civil engineer by the Vermont Department of Transportation and a volunteer of the Barre Town Fire Department. Survivors include his wife; two sons, David Jr. and Dan; two daughters, Kathy Norkeveck and Pam Town; four grandsons; his mother; three brothers; two sisters; many nieces and nephews.

He served with the Army during WWII. He was employed at Hamilton Standard Division of United Technologies Corp. in Windsor Locks, Conn. Survivors include his wife, Beverly (Shepard) Locklin; a son, Michael; a stepson, Gary Locklin; three daughters, Frances Davidson, Nancy Biondi and Sandra Biondi; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a sister; three nieces and a nephew.

, 74, formerly of Websterville, died May 29. Born in 1922 in Websterville, he was the son of Thomas and Mary Ellen (O'Connor) Nerney. He attended local schools before moving to Connecticut. He graduated from Hartford High School (Conn.). In 1946, he returned to Vermont and married Toni Sarri, who died in 1973. He was office manager at the former Fred R. Holden Appliance Co. in Barre and later for Burbank Douglas Corp. of Portland, Maine. While living in the area, he was a member of St. Sylvester Parish. Survivors include two nieces, Patty Sharon and Elaine Williams; six nephews, Herbert and Thomas Armstrong; Thomas, Peter, Edward and William Nerney.

He worked at Boulevard Gardens and in 1986, became self-employed as a stone mason, retiring in 1991. In 1951, he married Beverly Canton. Survivors include his wife; a son, Vernal Jr.; a daughter, Judy Jerry; a brother; a sister; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

, 85, of Washington, died May 31. Born in 1911 in Washington, she was the daughter of Delmar and Irene (Flint) Carpenter. She attended graded school in Washington and Spaulding High School. She was town clerk and treasurer in Washington, retiring in 1983. She had been involved with the Washington Baptist Church and later with the Independent Gospel Church. She had represented the town of Washington in the Vermont Legislature from 1961-64. Survivors include several cousins and friends.

Born in 1903 in Switzerland, she was the daughter of John and Rosina (Grose) Schwarz. In 1930, she married Auguste Plagge, who died in 1996. She worked in the local school system of Brookline (MA), from which she retired and was a member of the Methodist Church there. Survivors include two sons, Raymond and Peter; five grandchildren.

, of Montpelier, died May 31. Born in 1912 in Springfield, Mass., she was the daughter of Arthur and Rebecca (Owen) Page. She came to Vermont in 1914 and attended schools in Hyde Park and Johnson. In 1935, she married Arthur Nelson, who died in 1961. She was a licensed practical nurse at the Vermont State Hospital, retiring in 1977. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include a son, Phillip; a daughter, Laura Hulbert; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers; a sister; several nieces and nephews.

He was employed as a polisher in the granite industry. In 1937, he married Dorothy Downing. They operated Aiken's Market on Washington Street from 1956 until 1966. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Lawrence and Douglas; a sister; nieces and nephews.

Frederick and Emily (Wisegarver) Wackernagel Jr. He received his education in PA and graduated from Wittenberg College in Ohio with a degree in journalism. He was an ambulance driver with the American Field Service during WWII. In 1949, he married Ingrid Williams. He was editor and journalist with the Associated Press in New York City and in public relations with W.R. Grace and Company, also of New York City. He was a member of the Christ Church (Episcopal). Survivors include his wife; a son, Frederick III; a daughter, Elin Wackernagel-Slotten; four grandchildren; two sisters; many nieces and nephews.

In 1927, she married Dwight Stafford, who died in 1983. Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia (Mrs. Wallace) MacDonald; a grandson; nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Susan (Mrs. Charles) Keeler, Joanne (Mrs. Preston) Gilbert and Donna (Mrs. Donald) Cimorelli; six grandchildren.

Simons. He was a licensed professional engineer in Connecticut, retiring in 1993 and moving to Montpelier. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Woodbridge, CT. Survivors include his wife; a son, James; a daughter, Karen Sadek; a granddaughter; three brothers.

He earned a bachelor of science degree at Goddard College and received a master's degree and doctorate degree in education from Michigan State University. In 1985, he retired from Radford University in Virginia as a professor emeritus. He was a member of Grace Church (Episcopal) of Radford (VA). Survivors include his wife, Anthea (Goodridge) Pugh; two daughters, Christy Bane and Leslie McNiece; a son, Spencer; a brother; six grandchildren; a step-grandchild; nieces, nephews and other relatives in central Vermont.
