St. Johnsbury, VT: Diane Marie Dargie, age 60, of Lackie Hill Road, died at her home with family by her side on Sunday, January 28, 2018, following a lengthy period of failing health.
Diane was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, on August 10, 1957, daughter to Marlene Merle (Ash) and the late Don Stanley Taylor who passed December 31, 2015. She grew up in St. Johnsbury attending St. Johnsbury School and went on to Lyndon Institute graduating with the Class on 1975. She worked at the Lincoln Inn, Schafers and at Gold Crown Lanes prior to working for the State of Vermont as a truck driver. For over 25 years she had the plow route over Sheffield Heights and didn't skip a beat. She was a pet lover and took very good care of them. Diane loved visiting with friends and family out in the garage, driving her '85 Camaro and doing the crossword puzzles in the paper. Her hobbies also included dancing, four-wheeling with her grandkids, playing horseshoes with her father and taking care of her flower beds. She enjoyed ice-skating, was an avid swimmer in her youth and enjoyed maintaining the pool for the kids where she taught Sophia and Renee and many others to swim. For many years she bowled in the leagues and served as an officer. Diane was a tough lady and there are many stories to back it up, but she was a lady who loved and was very much loved in return and will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her companion of over 28 years: Lynn Knights of St. Johnsbury, her mother: Marlene A. Taylor of St. Johnsbury, her daughter: Jillian Dargie (Wayne Payton) of N. Danville, her 'step-son': J.P. Knights (Carmen Brown) of Glover, 2 brothers: Terry Taylor (Kathy) and Stephen Taylor (Andrea) all of St. Johnsbury, 5 grandchildren: Sophia & Renee Payton, Dayna, Kelby and Rylee Knights, and nephews: Chris Taylor (Jenn), Tim Taylor (Maggie), and her loving neighbors from across the road: Norm and Pat Veilleux.
At Diane's request there will be no services or calling hours at this time. Burial will take place at the Wm. Dexter Cemetery in Sheffield at a later date.
