Sheila (Goss) Davis , 70, of Lyndonville died on Monday, January 23, 2012,
at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury,
surrounded by her family, after suffering a severe stroke. She was
born on February 10, 1941, in Burlington, the daughter of Burns and
Katherine (Hately) Goss. She was a 1959 graduate of St. Johnsbury
Academy. She was married to Eugene Carl Davis who predeceased
her on April 25, 1969. Following two years of college, she was
employed by the Caledonia County Department of Social Services
until 1962, when she began her family. While raising her family, she
was a Tupperware dealer and host in the area. After the family was
raised, she worked for Murphy's Electric for several years and for the
past 15 years she was employed by Northern Petroleum (Dead
River). Her pastimes included knitting, going on bus tours, traveling
with family and friends, photography, and watching NASCAR. She
was a longtime member of TOPS and was a 26-year member of KOPS.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her
longtime companion of 25 years, Larry Welch. She is survived by a
son, Kevin Davis, and his wife, Sandy, of Lyndon; a daughter, Tamela
Hastings, and her husband, Edward, of Lyndonville; a brother, Lester
Goss of Barnet; eight grandchildren: Jonathan Davis of Sutton,
Michael Davis, Samantha Davis and Nicole Davis, all of Lyndonville,
Amanda Amadon of Lyndonville, Joshua Hastings, Cassandra Hastings
and Christopher Hastings, all of Lyndonville; a great-grandson,
Matthew Duda of Lyndonville; her very close sister-in-law Vivian Fox;
and by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and the extended Welch
family. Funeral services were held January 26 in Lyndonville. Burial
will be held in the Lyndon Center Cemetery in Lyndon.
