, age 78, a Lyndonville resident, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Junction. The son of George F. and Jennie (Willey) Moore, he was born March 7, 1927, in Woodbury. George worked several jobs, most recently as an attendant at the P & H Truck Stop. He was a member of the VFW Post #10038 and the American Legion Post 30, both of Lyndonville. He enjoyed spending time with friends, fishing and hunting. George is survived by a son, George F. Moore Jr. of St. Johnsbury; a sister, Isabelle Moore of Worcester, Mass.; stepbrother, Junior Fletcher; one granddaughter; two great-grandsons. No public services are planned at this time. Burial will be in the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph.

, 81, of Lyndonville, Vt., died peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 14, 2006. She was born May 17, 1924, in Babylon, N.Y., daughter of the late William J. and May (Madison) Mallmann. She graduated from Babylon High School in 1941. On Feb. 9, 1947, she married Stanley H. Parow. Mrs. Parow worked for many years as a legal secretary in a lawyer's office in Babylon, N.Y. She enjoyed people and was considered the neighborhood Mom. In her earlier years, the truly enjoyed sailing her own sail boat "The Merry Belle" that was built by her father. After moving to Lyndonville in 1991, she attended the Lyndonville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed living in Vermont these last 15 years, her many new friends and spending time at the Riverside Life Enrichment Center in Lyndonville. Survivors include her two daughters, Kathy Rucki and her husband Kenneth of Watertown, N.Y., and Janis "Jan" Loomis and her husband Tom of Lyndonville; three grandchildren, Doug Rucki, Tim Loomis and Paige Robinson; her brother, William M. Mallmann and his wife Mary of Patchogue, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Stanley H. Parow, in 1988; and a teenage sister, JuliaHelen Mallmann. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday evening, Jan. 17, from 6-8 at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at Pine Lawn Cemetery in Farmingdale, N.Y., at a later date. , 80, of Summer Street, Lancaster, N.H., died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at her home. Mrs. Abbott was born the youngest of seven children in Lancaster on April 6, 1925, the daughter of Arthur and Ruby (Stone) Cryan. Alice was a 1943 graduate of Lancaster Academy. She went on to attend Plymouth Teachers' College where she graduated in 1947. That same year she married Reginald H. Abbott on Aug. 30 at All Saints Church, Lancaster. They moved to Okmulgee, Okla., where she taught elementary school on an Indian Reservation for three years while her husband attended Oklahoma A & M Diesel School. They moved back east to Nashua, N.H., briefly, and then to Lancaster where they have lived for the past 56 years. Mrs. Abbott taught elementary school in Peterborough, Lancaster and Groveton, N.H. She taught full-time in Groveton from 1968-1990 where she taught third grade and remedial reading. The last few years before her retirement she served as assistant principle. After retirement, Mrs. Abbott continued to substitute teach for 10 years at the Groveton School. In 1981, Alice began her 25-year career as a volunteer at Weeks Memorial Hospital. Over the years she could be found in a number of places in the hospital working her magic on the med-surg floors, the gift shop, the pharmacy or the dining room. She was a dedicated and tireless volunteer, accruing 8,350 hours over the past 25 years. In 1991, she received the Mel Gallup Outstanding Volunteer Service Award, of which she was extremely proud. In 1995, she was recognized as the Outstanding Hospital Volunteer of N.H. by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Volunteering was a way of life for Alice even after arthritis in her knees made it extremely difficult for her to get around. In her spare time she loved to read. She was a communicant of All Saints Church where she also served as a Eucharistic minister, a greeter and taught catechism. She was also a member of the Tabernacle Society at All Saints Church and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Alice was Lancaster's last Gold Star Mother. She lost a son, Terry M. Abbott, in 1968 in the Vietnam War. Surviving family members include her husband, Reginald of Lancaster; three children, Stephen R. Abbott and wife Elizabeth of Eugene, Ore., Penny L. Durgin and husband William of Lancaster, and Tracey L. Abbott and partner Cindy of Sweden, Maine; four grandchildren, Chad Abbott, Nathan Abbott, Scott Durgin and Gretchen Colby; three great-grandchildren, Nathan Abbott, Jason Abbott and Gracie Frost Durgin; and two sisters. Visiting hours will be held Monday, Jan. 16, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Mass of Christian burial will follow immediately after at 1 p.m. at All Saints Church, Lancaster. The Rev. Raymond Ball, pastor, will officiate. , 83, of Washington, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at home. She was born June 4, 1922, in St. Johnsbury, Vt., to the late John H. Hagan and Mary Brannigan Hagan. On Aug. 28, 1940, in St. Johnsbury, she married Clifton K. Deoss Sr., who preceded her in death. Mrs. Deoss was a factory worker who worked at the T-Bar until her retirement. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, gaming and spending time with family at family gatherings. She is survived by five children, Clifton K. Deoss Jr. of Tucson, Ariz., Virginia Rivera and her husband Victor of Tucson, Ariz., Kathleen Stuckey and her husband Chester Sr. of Washington, Ruth Blake and her husband David of Laporte, Texas, and John Deoss and his wife Holly of New Hampshire; one sister, Mary Bea Waterman of Waterbury, Conn.; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Charles Deoss and Michael Deoss; and one daughter, Mary Ellen Deoss.

, of East St. Johnsbury, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at home after a long illness at the age of 71. He was the son of Luther and Marion (Oliver) Ely. Richard is survived by his wife, children, brothers and sisters. Also surviving her is her only child, her daughter, Janice Gray of North Concord, Vt., and her loving son-in-law Stuart Gray, also of North Concord, Vt.; three grandchildren, Joanne Wright of Lisbon, N.H., Jeffrey Gray of Florida and Kevin Gray of Concord, Vt., along with their spouses, Christopher Wright Sr. of Lisbon, and Katrina Gray of Concord, Vt.; seven great-grandchildren, Chris Wright Jr. and Aaron Wright of Lisbon, Brandon Gray, Ryan Gray and Gregory Gray, Dylan Gray and Kaylee Elizabeth Gray; her sister, Lucy Murphy and her husband Douglas of St. Johnsbury; her brother, Orland Lee of St. Johnsbury; a very special person, Dorcas Lee of St. Johnsbury; a very special sister-in-law, Mrs. Frances Giroux of Lancaster, N.H.; along with many nieces and nephews. , 71, of East St. Johnsbury, Vt., died peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at his home after a lengthy illness, with family by his side. He was born Jan. 3, 1935, in St. Johnsbury, Vt., son of Luther and Marion (Oliver) Ely. Richard was a lifelong resident of East St. Johnsbury and graduated from St. Johnsbury Trade School in 1953. After high school, he was employed as a draftsman by Fairbanks Scales, where he worked for 46 years until his retirement in 2000. After his father's death in 1963, he did much for the support of his mother and many younger brothers and sisters, for whom he felt great love and pride. In 1967, he married, and together with his wife Janice joyfully raised seven children. Richard attended Bible School in 1967 and began ministering in the fall of 1968. He ministered at his start-up church, Grace Chapel on Pleasant Street in St. Johnsbury, until 1977, when he started his lifetime work of ministering at Concord Community Church, where he continued to preach after his official retirement in 1992. During his years preaching, he maintained his full-time drafting job while preparing sermons, offering three services a week, visiting nursing homes and shut-ins and helping the needy. He loved singing traditional hymns and watching him lead a song service was a unique experience. He loved gardening, as well as cultivating berry bushes, grapes and fruit orchards, and keeping honey bees. He enjoyed walking his land, sitting in the warmth of the sunshine and listening to the sounds of nature that surrounded his family homestead. His upbeat, kind-hearted approachability touched all with whom he came in contact. He was often heard whistling through the aisles of White Market or yodeling as he walked, but always producing, listening to and moving to some form of music. He loved to cook for everyone and anyone, and for years developed his hobbies of baking, preserving jelly and making fruit ciders. In later years, he challenged and overcame his fear of flying and began traveling throughout the U.S., visiting family in Florida, South Carolina, Missouri and Colorado. His greatest passion was his children and he spent his time keeping contact with them and his many brothers and sisters, and demonstrated his complete devotion to family togetherness through his organization of family reunions, holiday get-togethers and giant Sunday dinners. During the last months of his life and throughout his illness, he was deeply touched by the frequent visits and gracious acts of kindness demonstrated by the church, the community, his friends and family. It made his last days here very special. He is survived by his wife, Janice (Austin); sons, William of Landrum, S.C., Garth of East St. Johnsbury, Stefan of Spartanburg, S.C., and Nathanael of Jericho; and daughters, Heather of Princeton, N.J., Joanna of Burlington, and Carolyn of Wakefield, Mass.; as well as grandchildren, Rhya LaFleur of Leesburg, Va., Jeremiah James, Savannah Lynn and Dalton Luther of Landrum, S.C., Quinton Oliver and Sheridan Grace of Spartanburg, Va., and Dalton Richard of Jericho. Surviving siblings include brothers, Dan Gaudet of Saugus, Mass., "Little Charlie" of Rockville, Md., Gary of East. St. Johnsbury, James of St. Albans, David of South Burlington, Gaylon of East St. Johnsbury, "Big Charlie" of Torrence, Calif., Robert of Audenton, Md., and Gordon Wood of Worchester, Vt.; sisters, Elizabeth Williams of Boyton Beach, Fla., Rosemary Palmer of Fairlee, and Sharon Noel, of Lyndonville. He leaves behind over 40 nieces and nephews; as well as parents-in-law, Grace and Delmer Austin of St. Johnsbury. He was predeceased by his father in 1963, and his mother in 1988; as well as sisters, Carol at infancy, and Muriel of Northfield, Vt., in 1986; and brothers, Bill at infancy, and Raymond of Missouri in 2004. , lifelong resident of West Newbury, Vt., passed away on Jan. 18, 2006. Fairie was born in Cottage Hospital, the daughter of Laurence and Gladys Tyler. Growing up on Tyler Farms in West Newbury, Fairie's musical talent became evident in grammar school. She studied piano and violin throughout high school in Newbury, Vt., and her years at Lyndon State Teacher's College. After graduation from college, Fairie taught music for six years in Orwell and 10 years in the Newbury school systems. On Aug. 21, 1949, Fairie married Robert N. Atwood of Boltonville, Vt. They had two children, Aroline Marie (Atwood) Colbeth, currently of West Newbury and Tyler James Atwood, currently of Milton, Vt. Fairie became a member of the West Newbury Congregational Church in 1939. She assumed the duties of organist and choir director when her mother retired from the same duties in 1957. She served as organist and choir director until severe arthritis forced her to stop in the 1990s. Fairie and her husband, Robert, took over the operation of Tyler Farms in 1968 after the death of her father, Laurence Tyler. Together they continued the operation of the nationally known Holstein farm that provided genetic seed stock to numerous states, Canada, Germany, France, Central and South America, before retiring in 1987. Fairie also was the third generation to serve as postmaster for West Newbury, following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather until arthritis forced her resignation. Music was an important part of her life - whether through her teaching, the church, her playing of the violin in classical settings or for country square dances, or her participation for many years in the North Country Chorus with her beautiful soprano voice. Because of her passion for music, it was important that her children receive musical training at an early age. This passion also caused Fairie to have a dream of a quality pipe organ being installed in the West Newbury Church. After many years of work and with the help of many other church members, this dream was realized when a beautifully restored 150-year-old tracker pipe organ was installed in 1993. The family enjoyed many summer vacations to Maine. Her fondest memory was the vacation to Maine that she enjoyed with her husband, daughter and son in honor of her 50th wedding anniversary to Robert. Fairie was a dedicated wife and mother providing love, security and thousands of wonderful home-cooked meals for her family and friends. Her attention to the smallest detail in every meal was enjoyed by many. Fairie will be remembered as a true lady. She leaves her husband of 56 years, Robert; her daughter, Aroline and her husband Tom Colbeth; her son, Tyler and his partner Agam Sheth; grandson, Curt Colbeth; granddaughter, Carrie Colbeth Spear and her husband Jason and great-grandson Robert James (RJ); and her cousin, who was like a sister to her, Marion Chamberlin and her husband Irving Chamberlin of Newbury. Fairie was predeceased by her brother, Borden Avery; and her sister, Shirley McAllister. A celebration of her life will be held at the West Newbury Congregational Church on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 1 p.m., followed by a reception. There will be no calling hours. , age 53, of Evergreen Lane, Bethlehem, N.H., passed away on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006, at the Littleton Regional Hospital. Wanda was born on Sept. 1, 1952, a daughter to Frank E. and A. Victoria (Canfield) Stevens, in Plymouth, N.H. Wanda was a 1970 graduate of Littleton High School. She attended The Sacred Heart Nursing School and upon graduation began her nursing career with the Littleton Regional Hospital where she was an RN for 27 years. She was a member of the Eagle's Club Women's Auxiliary and loved spending time with all her family and grandchildren. Wanda is survived by her husband, Earl "Bim" Laleme of Bethlehem, N.H.; one son, Scott Laleme of Littleton, N.H.; one daughter, Shelly Ramos of Philadelphia, N.Y.; four brothers, Frank E. Stevens II of Littleton, N.H., Edward E. Stevens of Berlin, N.H., Mark M. Stevens of Preston, Md., and Tracy A. Stevens of Littleton, N.H.; one sister, Wanita L. Stevens of Littleton, N.H.; and seven grandchildren, Courtney, Dakota, Kasey, Amber, Brandon, Gavin and Alyiah. , 93, of Lancaster, N.H., formerly of French Road, Dalton, N.H., died Saturday evening, Jan. 21, 2006, at Country Village Health Care Center, Lancaster. Mrs. Ramsdell was born in Dalton on April 11, 1912, the daughter of Alfred and Marion (Tillotson) Fountain. Evelyn was raised and resided in Dalton for most of her life. She worked at Profile Cleaners for a time and over 25 years at Manchester Knitted Fashions in Whitefield. In 1995, she moved to Holton Point and has resided at Country Village since 1997. She was an active member of the Dalton community, an avid card player and was always loving and giving. She was a member of the Dalton Grange, Ladies Aid Society and the Dalton Congregational Church. Family members include two sons, Carl F. Ramsdell and his wife Sandra of Maidstone, Vt., and John G. Ramsdell of Barrington, N.H.; two daughters, Marilyn R. Carlson and her husband Berger of Concord, N.H., and Rita M. Ramsdell of St. Johnsbury, Vt.; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Ramsdell of Dalton and Willard Ramsdell of Whitefield; a sister in-law, Katherine Stockwell, also of Whitefield; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George F. Ramsdell; and a granddaughter, Jill Carlson. , 68, of Newport, died suddenly Jan. 20, 2006, in Newport. He was born Aug. 28, 1937, in Orange, N.J., a son of Percy and Mildred (English) Bullis. On Nov. 18, 1961, he married Gloria Simino, who predeceased him on Sept. 15, 2005. Mr. Bullis entered the United States Air Force and served his country during the Korean War. He was proprietor of Bullis Tax Service and was a tax preparer for many years in the community. Among his hobbies he enjoyed collecting coins, stamps, trains and leather products. He is survived by his children, Rose Brousseau and her husband Robert of Newport, Cindy Choquette and her husband Robert of Virginia, and Randy Bullis and his wife Annie of Dunbarton, N.H. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Nicole Bullis, Bobby Peters and Tony Brousseau; and by a great-granddaughter, Ashlyn VanKampen. Mr. Bullis is survived by the following sisters and brothers, John "Jack" Bullis and his wife Bev of Derby Line, James Bullis of Pennsylvania, Joseph Bullis and his wife Marlene of Troy, N.H., Daniel Bullis and his wife Sharon of Newport, Craig Bullis and his wife Diana of Newport, Dianne Bullis of Newport, Judy Bullis of Rutland, Paula Marie Brochu and her husband Steve of Derby Line, and Mary Lou George and her husband Wendall of Derby; and by several nieces and nephews. , 62, of South Wheelock, passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at home. She was born in St. Johnsbury Feb. 23, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Clinton Newland Sr. and Ada (Easterbrooks) Newland. She graduated from Lyndon Institute in 1961. She worked at St. Johnsbury Trucking for 20 years. She bought a home in South Wheelock in 1976 and spent her remaining years in South Wheelock. She loved playing cards and doing puzzles with her friends and family. She also enjoyed shopping, cooking, fishing, berrying, and trips to Florida, Washington State, Maine, Oklahoma, Maryland and Oregon. She is survived by her mother, Ada Newland; son, David Camber and his wife Sue; son, Timothy Camber and his wife Rebekah; her daughter, Pamela Bona; seven grandchildren, Brian Camber, Andrew Camber, Samantha Camber, Sarah Camber, Timothy Camber, PFC Dominic Bona and his wife Karen, and Logan Bona; brothers, Clinton Newland Jr. and his wife Pamela, Winston Newland and his wife Loraine, Milton Newland, Layton Newland and his wife Wendy, Denton Newland and his wife Debbie; her sisters, Maelene Watson and her husband Bryant; and many nieces and nephews. , 89, of Burlington, died at her home Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006, following a brief illness. Born in Danville on June 1, 1916, she was the daughter of Newton Page Sr. and Jessie (James) Page. She graduated from Danville High School in 1938 and Burlington Business College in 1980. Mamie was a secretary and bookkeeper for the former Shepard Morris Lumber Company for 41/2 years, and Woodbury Lumber Company from 1958 until her retirement. She is survived by her brother, Newton "Jim" Page of Danville; her niece, Marilyn Page of Brattleboro; and nephews, Robert Page of Brattleboro, Richard Blair of Peacham and Dwayne Blair of Arlington, Va. She was predeceased by her brothers, W. Stanley Page of Essex, Carl Page of Brattleboro, and Maxwell Page of Watertown, N.Y.; and her sisters, Addie Carhartt of Burlington, Bernice Blair of Peacham and Winifred Olsaver of Burlington. , of Lyndonville, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center, at the age of 81. She was born April 22, 1924, in Walden, Vt., daughter of the late Henry and Lena (O'Hearn) LaBree, and was schooled in Danville. In 1954 she married Robert B. Paul. For 40 years, Margaret and Robert lived in Enfield, Conn., where they raised their family. She worked nearly 20 years as a lead assembly and testing person for an electronics firm in Windsor Locks, Conn. An avid bingo player, Margaret also enjoyed visiting a casino now and then. Traveling on cruise ships and flying to Hawaii and other destinations brought her great pleasure. She enjoyed fishing in Vermont streams and ponds, using the Bob Ross method of painting with acrylics, and most of all, time spent with her family and grandchildren. She was an active volunteer for the Lyndon Area Food Shelf, as well as the St. Elizabeth Church Womens Group. Survivors include her son, Steven L. Paul of Feeding Hills, Mass.; two grandsons, Robin and Daniel Paul; a granddaughter, Lindsay Paul; a brother, Raymond LaBree and his wife Marguerite of Lyndonville; a sister, Edna Goyette of St. Johnsbury; a former daughter-in-law, Laura Paul of Massachusetts; nieces; nephews; and several close friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Paul, in 1985. Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m., at the Guibord Funeral Home with the Rev. Stephen Nichols celebrant. , 91, of Lyndonville, Vt., formerly of East Hartford and Gilead, Conn., died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at home. She was the widow of the late Ralph C. Secord, proprietor of Green Mountain Books and Prints, where she often joined both him and her daughter Ellen in greeting friends and customers from around the northeast. Rosemary was born in East Hartford on July 4, 1914, a date reflecting her personality and temperament. She lived her life with devotion for her husband, commitment to her family, a passion for reading and deep concern for the church. For her every home, she found joy in gardening and the creation of abundant color. She was predeceased by her sister, Catherine. She leaves four children, William Secord and his wife Linda of Marlborough, Conn., Ellen Doyle of Sutton, Vt., Sarah McGrath and her husband Michael of Reston, Va., and Maura McClure and her husband Christopher of Buels Gore, Vt.; eight grandchildren, Joshua Doyle and his wife Lisa of Colchester, Vt., Benjamin Doyle of Manhattan, N.Y., Abigail Fleming and her husband Sean of Bradford, Vt., Jonathan Davis-Secord and his wife Sarah of South Bend, Ind., David McGrath of Denver, Colo., Patrick McGrath of Berkeley, Calif., Shea McClure and his wife Candice of Milton, Vt., and Kellen McClure of Buels Gore, Vt.; two great-grandchildren, Cortland Doyle and Evelyn Fleming; and three nieces, Barbara Mingo and her husband Joseph, Catherine Farrell, and Elizabeth Gilmore. , a Daughter of the Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, passed away peacefully on Jan. 24, 2006, at Mount Sacred Heart Provincial House, Littleton, N.H. Irene Brassard was born in Mooers Forks, N.Y., on Aug. 10, 1925. She was the daughter of Frederick Brassard and Marceline Monette. Irene Brassard professed her vows with her religious congregation on July 13, 1943. During her 63 years of religious profession, Sister St. Rita served in various missions in Newport, Vt.; Champlain, N.Y.; and Littleton, N.H. However, the major portion of her ministry years was spent as a missionary in the mountain Kingdom of Lesotho, Southern Africa, from 1953-1990. Sister St. Rita was a dedicated educator and a zealous missionary, most often combining community administration with her other responsibilities. During Sister St. Rita's years in Africa, the membership of the congregation grew and became more indigenous while at the same time continuing to benefit from the assistance and presence of foreign missionaries. She was a trusted community leader and was instrumental in the establishment of the congregation's Province of Lesotho, becoming its first Provincial Superior in the late 1970s. Throughout her years as a missionary, Sister St. Rita remained very close to her family and friends in both Canada and the United States. She enjoyed their faithful support personally and for the many missionary projects which needed financial and technical sponsorship. Upon her return to the United States, Sister St. Rita again connected with her home area and gave several years of service to the pastoral ministry at St. Mary's Parish in Champlain, N.Y., before joining the elder community of sisters at the Provincial House in Littleton. Sister St. Rita was predeceased by her parents; and her brother, Alvin. Besides her sisters in the religious community, she is survived by three sisters, Eldora Decoste of Mooers Forks, N.Y., Beatrice LaValley of Rouses Point, N.Y., and Rita LaValley of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; a brother, Arthur Brassard of Mineville, N.Y.; as well as many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. , 68, of Riverside Avenue, Gilman, Vt., died peacefully in his sleep at his home on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006. Mr. Wilkinson was born in St. Johnsbury, Vt., on Aug. 11, 1937, the son of Clarence and Margaret (Johnson) Wilkinson. Frederick was a lifetime resident of Gilman and was known by his friends and family as "Sonny" or "Ab." He graduated from Lancaster Academy in 1955. For 25 years he was employed at Gilman Paper Company/Georgia Pacific. He enjoyed reading, movies and television. At the time when CB radios were popular, he was well-known in the community as "Rolling Donut." Spending time with family, especially his great-nieces, brought him his greatest enjoyment. particularly the time spent at the family camp in Victory. He was a Free and Accepted Mason with the Moose River Lodge 82, Concord, Vt. Family members include a brother, John Wilkinson and his wife Beverly of Lunenburg, Vt.; one nephew, Kevin Wilkinson and his companion Heather of Lunenburg; two nieces, Karen Danforth and her husband Brian of Lunenburg, and Kristen Jones and her husband Steven of Lancaster; seven great-nieces, Megan Danforth, Miranda Danforth, Kelsey Wilkinson, Kierra Wilkinson, Felicia Colbeth, Kaylyn Jones and Lauryn Jones; one aunt, Clara Rodgers of St. Johnsbury; several cousins; and good friend Bob Gunnip. , 66, of Main Street, Lancaster, N.H., died Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 25, 2006, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon. Carol was born in Bridgeport, Conn., on April 3, 1939, the daughter of Alexander and Anna (Kurek) Hegyi. For many years she resided in Devon, Conn., and graduated from Lauralton Hall, Milford, Conn. She attended Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Conn., where she acquired a teaching degree and then went on to earn a master's degree at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn. Her teaching career was devoted to high school math and she taught at St. Mary's High School, New Haven, Conn.; Milford High School, Milford, Conn.; and the Joseph A. Foran High School, Milford, Conn. She retired from teaching in 1995 and moved to Lancaster in 2005. For many years she was involved with the New Haven Math League and the Connecticut State Math League of which she was a coordinator. Memberships include the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics and the Tabernacle Society of All Saints Church. Carol enjoyed reading, crocheting, quilting, crafting and puzzles of all kinds, especially crossword puzzles. Family members include her sister, Sandra J. Hegyi of Lancaster; one uncle, John Kurek, and one aunt, Helen Kurek, both of Bridgeport, Conn.; and cousins. On Sept. 1, 1956, Shirley married Arthur C. Ott in Washington, N.J. They raised their family in New Jersey where she worked as a bank teller for 10 years. In 1976 they moved from Oxford, N.J., to Sheffield, Vt., where she continued her banking career with the Citizens Bank in St. Johnsbury and Lyndonville as a teller and receptionist until she retired in 1999 due to her illness. An avid reader, Shirley enjoyed going to garage sales, attending family gatherings, and all of her grandchildren's school and sporting events. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Arthur C. Ott of Sheffield; a son, Randell Ott and his wife Lynnanne of Sutton; a daughter, Denise Davis and her husband Jack of Sheffield; five grandchildren, Erica Lafond and her husband Timothy, Randy Ott Jr. and his wife Heather, Nicholas Ott, Michael Davis and his companion Bobby Jo Badger, and Daniel Ott; five great-grandchildren, Cody Davis, Haley and Chelsea Ott, and Hunter and Elaina Lafond; a sister, Patricia DeCunto of Phillipsburg, N.J.; aunts; uncles; nieces; and nephews. , 79, passed away at Rutland Regional Medical Center Sunday morning, July 2, 2006. He was born in Randolph on Aug. 5, 1926, one of eight children born to John A. Crosier II and Aileen (Deos) Crosier. Predeceased by both his parents, his mother died 36 years ago on the same date. He grew up in Lyndon on the family farm off the South Wheelock Road. Johnnie resided at the Brandon Training Center from 1970 to 1992. In 1992, he moved to live with his caregiver, Merla Center, at 27 Florence Road in Proctor; he became part of her household. Merla's partner, Tibor Pelm, and her daughter, Tracy Cahill, both became important to him. He is survived by four sisters, Ramone Allaire and husband Donald of Hyde Park, Evelyn Jones and husband Merle of Waterford, Marilyn Guyer and husband Raymond of Lyndonville, Bonnie Jacques and husband Dennis of Hudson N.H.; nieces and nephews. His oldest sister, Euca Hubbard, an infant brother William, and an infant sister, Estella, predeceased him. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Guibord Funeral Home with Mr. Frank Hubbard presiding. Burial will follow at the Lyndon Center Cemetery. , 64, of Groton, Vt., died June 30, 2006, at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction, Vt. He was born in Danbury, Conn., Feb. 23, 1942, the son of James and Ann Marie (Capillaro) Kenny. Jim was in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1964 during the Vietnam War period. He worked in the transportation and the home-delivery business for many years as a truck driver for Gary's Fuel Inc. in North Haverhill, N.H. He belonged to the American Legion Post 20 of Woodsville, and the Veterans of Foreign War Post 5245 of North Haverhill. He is predeceased by a brother, G. Timothy Kenny. of Danville passed away at home early Monday morning with her family by her side, July 3, 2006, at the age of 71. She was born in St. Johnsbury on June 19, 1935, and was the daughter of Paul and Janice (Vandenburg) Brooks. Her husband, Richard L. Stuart, predeceased her on Dec. 7, 1987. Throughout her younger years Justine was a very outgoing person. She loved swimming, she was a lifeguard for many years, she loved bowling, brook fishing, basketball, the outdoors, camping at Harvey's Lake, Sunday rides, cooking Sunday dinners for her children. She enjoyed living at her home in West Danville looking down onto Joe's Pond. As she grew older and her husband, Richard, passed away she enjoyed simple things such as spending time with her family. , 91, of Roy Mountain Road, West Barnet, died July 2, 2006, at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury, Vt. He was born in Barnet, Vt., Feb. 18, 1915, the son of Roy H. and Olga (Martin) Warden. He graduated from the Mt. Hermon School in 1933 and from the University of Vermont in 1938. While at UVM, he played varsity basketball and earned the nickname "Lefty Warden." After college, he served in World War II with the 9th Armored Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Following his discharge, he returned to West Barnet where he took over the operation of the family business and ran the West Barnet General Store. Later, he purchased and operated The Ritchie Insurance Agency, as well as becoming a real estate broker. Stod also served on the Board of Directors of the Wells River Savings Bank. Upon retirement, he spent his time in Florida and Vermont, where he enjoyed golf, bridge, and backgammon, but most of all, he enjoyed his home and his camp on Harvey's Lake entertaining family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Marian Johnson Warden, on June 13, 1995, and a brother, Dr. Alexander Warden. Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Warden Mahoney of Denver, Colo. and Christine Warden Malley, of Darien, Conn.; four grandchildren: Kara Christine Ash of New York, N.Y., Paige Warden Dick of Greenwich, Conn., Teddy Malley and Lee Malley, both of Darien, Conn.; a sister-in-law Irene Warden, formerly of Littleton, N.H., now residing in Queensbury, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. , 94, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 5, 2006, at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab Center where he had resided since January of 2002. He was born April 30, 1912, in Otisfield, Maine, and was the son of Frank and Florence (Thompson) Locke. He served in the Merchant Marine from 1942-1944 and worked in the Maine shipyards servicing and repairing cold storage refrigeration units on the waterfront. A son survives him, James R. Jones of St. Johnsbury (28 Nelson St. 05819) and his extended family. There will be no services here in St. Johnsbury. His remains will be buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Portland, Maine. , 97, of Jericho, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 5, 2006. She was born on June 6, 1909, in Irasburg, a daughter of Walter and Ethel (Flint) Chadburn. She graduated from Barton Academy in 1927 and the University of Vermont in 1931. For more than 30 years she worked at the University of Vermont College of Medicine and School of Dental Hygiene. An expert skier and star basketball player, Vic taught tennis at UVM for several summers. Retiring from UVM in 1974, she moved from Burlington to Jericho to the house she built overlooking Mount Mansfield. There, in the company of her beloved dogs, Flint and Sissy and J.B., she lived off the land, socially active and independent. She was a member of the Shelburne Episcopal Church. She leaves her nieces and nephews: Marian C. Valenta and her husband Dr. Joseph R. Valenta of Wayne, Pa., Beryl E. Norris of S. Pasadena, Fla., Gloria May Stoddard of Newport, Gordon C. He was predeceased by six brothers: Zephirin, Alex, Adeodat, Romeo, Andy, and Bernard; and five sisters: Marion Wills, Yvonne Brigham, Irene Buck, Germaine Cormier, and Jeannette Guyer. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, July 10, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church. The Rev. Richard O'Donnell will celebrate the Mass. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. died after a courageous battle with cancer on July 5, 2006. Ray was born in St. Johnsbury on June 19, 1927. He attended schools in St. Johnsbury and Lyndonville. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1947 and was a member of the American Legion. Ray married the love of his life, Eleanor Wheeler, on Nov. 11, 1947. Ray and Eleanor made their home and raised their children in St. Johnsbury Center. In the 1960s Ray worked for Sears. Later, he managed the Adirondack Bottled Gas branch office in St. Johnsbury. He retired from Lyndon State College in 1991 where he worked as the postmaster. After retirement, Ray and Eleanor moved to Lyndonville. Ray is survived by his devoted wife, Eleanor; a son, Ronald Skinner and his wife Patricia of Richmond, Vt.; a daughter, Karlene (Skinner) Dussault and her husband Robert of St. Johnsbury; a daughter, Carol Ann (Skinner) Perkins and her husband Dennis of St. Johnsbury. Ray has six grandchildren: Christopher Skinner, Mathew Skinner, Donna (Skinner) Coella, Jonathan Perkins, Christopher Dussault and Mathew Dussault. He has several great-grandchildren. Ray is also survived by two brothers: Richard Skinner of Concord, Vt., and Robert Skinner of Newport, Vt. Ray is predeceased by his parents, Ray Irving Skinner Sr. and Isabel (Mooney) Skinner; a sister, Muriel; and a brother, Clifford. Ray was a "tool man." He lived to build and fix things. He built two beautiful homes for his family. Ray kept an immaculate vegetable garden. He loved to pick berries and can pickles and jams. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially rabbit hunting with his beagles. In more recent years Ray and Eleanor escaped Vermont winters in Deltona, Fla., where they played golf with their many Floridian friends. Ray was a family man who often spoke of needing little more than his wife and family by his side. Graveside service for family and close friends will be held at the St. Johnsbury Center Cemetery on Saturday, July 8, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may honor Ray by making donations in his name to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center North, 1080 Hospital Drive, St. Johnsbury (attention: Lori Grimes).

, age 49, of Union Street, Littleton, N.H., passed away peacefully at home after a long, courageous battle with cancer, with Denny and friends, Ray and Rema by her side, on Tuesday, July 4, 2006. Zelda was born on Feb. 8, 1957, a daughter to Leonard and Carolyn (Wright) Prech in Littleton, N.H. She was a 1975 graduate of Littleton High School. Denny and Zelda were together for 35 years and she was very devoted to the business that they created and worked together. She had a strong passion and love for snowmobiling, which she and Denny enjoyed together. Surviving family members include her husband, Denny Meunier and their dog, McDuff, of Littleton, N.H.; and two sisters, Valda Collins of Copperas, Texas, and Kelly Prech of Franconia, N.H.. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 11, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Pillsbury Funeral Home - Littleton Chapel, 101 Union St. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. , 66, of Walden, died unexpectedly July 5, 2006, in Walden. She was born March 24, 1940, in Montpelier, the daughter of the late Ralph and N. Irene (Howland) Ross. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in the Class of 1958. On May 4, 1958, she married Arnold Edward Martin in Hardwick. Bonnie was a homemaker. She and her family traveled throughout the United States. They made their home in Alaska, Washington state, North Carolina and Arkansas. In 1998 she returned to Vermont. She enjoyed snow machining, motorcycling, camping, hunting, boating, country music, dancing, attending the fair in Essex and the Barton Fair. Other enjoyments include card games, crossword puzzles and word search games. Survivors include four children, Arnold E. Martin Jr. and his companion Robin LaPan of Southern Pines, N.C., Deborah Walsh and her husband Jeremy of Marshfield, Lisa Martin and her companion Amos Brown of Winchester, Va., and Gregory R. Martin and his wife Leslie of Irasburg; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Martin was predeceased by her husband, Arnold, on Nov. 13, 1997, and a brother, Bill Ross, in 1960. passed away Saturday, July 8, 2006, at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab Center. Mr. Farr was born Nov. 1, 1915, in St. Johnsbury, the son of Wilbur J. and Edith (Powers) Farr. In 1933, he graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy. He served in World War II from 1941-45 in the Army Air Corps as a Flight Radio Operator (NAAD), flying war material out of Presque Isle, Maine. He received the American Campaign and WWII victory medals. Following his discharge, he returned to St. Johnsbury where he taught electronics at St. Johnsbury Trade School. Later he opened his own business, Con's TV, on the Danville Road, and later moved to Barre Town where he worked for Sprague Electronics. He retired from Vermont ETV where he operated transmitters atop several mountains. Upon retirement, he lived in Concord, Vermont and Florida. Since 1929, Con got great joy from his HAM radio operation (W1CBW). He loved to hunt and fish. He was predeceased by his dear wife of 65 years, Lucille Daniels Farr; two brothers, Wilbur Stuart Farr and C. Leslie Farr; and a sister, Dorothy McCutcheon. Survivors include a son, Edward C. Farr of (P.O. Box 4, 05828) Danville; a daughter, Constance A. Robitaille and her husband Raymond of Littleton, N.H.; five grandchildren, Patricia F. Blackmore of Peacham, Sharyn L. , 85, of Lyndonville, died Monday morning, July 10, 2006, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. He was born Feb. 3, 1921, in Walden, Vt., son of the late Henry L. and Lena M. (O'Hearn) LaBree. Ray attended school in Danville and then worked for C.H. Davis at Danville Manufacturing and later at his sawmill at Miles Pond. In 1942 Ray entered the U.S. Army and served his country during World War II in Europe, and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. After returning home, he again worked for his former employer. In 1946, he began a career at Vermont Tap & Die Co. in Lyndonville (on Main St., and later on Pudding Hill, also owned by C.H. Davis) as a machinist, where he worked until his retirement in 1983. After retirement, Ray worked part-time for Vermont American (formerly Vermont Tap & Die Co.) at their sugar place on Darling Hill producing maple syrup each spring. An active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Ray was an usher for more than 40 years. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 10038 in Lyndonville, and a member of the Tom Breslin Center in Lyndonville. He enjoyed spending time with his family at their camp in South Wheelock, maple sugaring, fishing, traveling around northern New England, and sharing coffee hour with family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Marguerite M. (Patoine) LaBree of Lyndonville; a son and his wife, Robert and Susan LaBree of Lyndon; a daughter and her husband, Doris and Bernard Boulay of Lyndon; six grandchildren, Scott Boulay and his wife Susan of Tennessee, Melissa Hall and her husband Stacy of East Burke, Laura Leonard and her husband Jerry of Lyndon, Kelley LaBree of South Wheelock, Erin LaBree of North Carolina, and Eric LaBree of West Danville; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Leonard; his sister, Edna Goyette of St. Johnsbury; his mother-in-law, Rosa Patoine of Hardwick; 14 brothers- and sisters-in-law and their families; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Paul, in January 2006. Friends may call on the family Wednesday evening, July 12, from 6-8, at the funeral home. , of 354 Memphremagog Views, Newport, Vt., died peacefully on July 10, 2006, at her lovely home overlooking Lake Memphremagog, surrounded by friends and family. She was born on Feb. 9, 1917, in West Derby, Vt., the daughter of Ward and Edith (Blair) Prouty. She attended schools in Newport and was a graduate of Bradford Academy and the Garland School. On Aug. 31, 1940, she married Edwin Gage, who predeceased her on March 13, 2000. She was a member of the Goodrich Memorial Library and served for several years as chairperson. She was a member of the Woman's Club, the Hospital Auxiliary, and a long-time member of the Eastern Star. She was a dedicated member of the Newport Center Methodist Church. She had many hobbies, including collecting music boxes, paperweights, and the one thing she liked best was getting the birth dates and anniversary dates of her many friends and then sending cards to them on each occasion. She was an accomplished equestrian, had her own horse for many years, and served as Grand Marshall of many parades, including the Barton Fair. Genevieve is survived by one cousin, Perrie Lee Prouty Marstaller of Rockville, Md.; two nieces, Linda LaFlam of Sunrise, Fla., and Kathy Elkins of Durham, N.C.; and Lovey, her cat. She was predeceased by a half-brother, Charles Tyler Prouty. While Genevieve and Eddie had no children of their own, they were known in this community for their many friends who they graciously treated as their "sons and daughters." Genevieve and Eddie were well-known for their wonderful "happy hours" which they enjoyed with their friends and family, a tradition carried on by Genevieve after Eddie's death. Genevieve was known for her grand Christmas parties at the Eastside, where she entertained her family and friends with grace and elegance seldom, if ever, duplicated in this community. She and Eddie were benefactors of the United Christian Academy, the former Newport City School on School Street, where they first met. The auditorium is now named after Genevieve and Eddie Gage. Genevieve has also been a major benefactor of the Holland Dialysis Center at North Country Hospital, the Goodrich Memorial Library and the Welcome Center. Laura loved her children and they spent many hours together at school activities, sports events, concerts, shopping and traveling. Laura donated her time as an aide in her children's classrooms. She was a school board member and worked in area libraries. She loved books, and she was well liked by her patrons, both young and old. The favorite travel location for Laura was the California Coast with its sun and surf. She loved music, movies and writing poetry. She always enjoyed gathering with family and friends. , 51, of Littleton, N.H., died suddenly in Littleton on July 10, 2006, where he resided for the past 23 years. He was born in Manchester, N.H., a son of Joseph (deceased) and Dolores (Fontaine) Bourque. He attended school in Manchester and Concord, N.H. Bob worked for several years at the Amoskeag Bank in Manchester, N.H., and People's Bank in Littleton, N.H. For the past 12 years, Bob was a special education teacher in Littleton and most recently in Berlin, N.H. He was also a member of the National Education Association. He was a soccer, basketball and baseball coach. He enjoyed most his family, teaching children, riding his motorcycle, astronomy, the family cats, and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. His family includes his wife of 27 years, Susan (Robitaille) Bourque of Littleton; a son, Skyler, also of Littleton; his mother and stepfather, Dolores and Arthur Burns; three sisters, Susan Bourque of Owings Mills, Md., Patricia Light and her husband Peter of Belchertown, Mass., Julia Biehl and her husband Dwayne of Bow, N.H.; two brothers, Brian Bourque and his wife Jennifer of Litchfield, N.H., and Jonathan Bourque and his wife Susan of Londonderry, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews. , 61, died at her home in Irasburg, Thursday morning, July 13, 2006, in the loving care of her family. She was born in Barton, May 28, 1945, the daughter of Clare and Barbara (Lanou) Phillips. She attended school in Irasburg and graduated from Orleans High School in 1963. She attended Johnson State College. In 1966 she married Linwood "Pete" Chase. Together they made their home in Irasburg. Dinny was the librarian at the Leach Library in Irasburg for many years and also had been a day-care provider. Dinny also was a substitute at the Irasburg Post Office for several years. A supporter of the community in church and civic activities, she served as an officer of the Irasburg Water Corporation as well as a lister, school director and health officer. Besides her husband, "Pete," she leaves a son, Bradley Chase and his wife Laurie of Irasburg; a brother, Rod Phillips of Irasburg; a grandson, Tanner Amyot of Barton; a niece, Martha Perron; and a nephew, Michael Phillips. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 17, at the Irasburg United Church with the Rev. Herbert Perry and the Rev. Nathan Strong officiating. , age 93 years, died Monday, June 12, 2006, at the Blueberry Hill Health Care in Beverly, Mass. Born in Salem, daughter of the late Alfred and Eugenie (Proulx) Theriault, she attended Salem Public Schools and was an honor graduate from Ste. Chr?tien High School in Salem. Following high school, Lucille attended Salem Normal School. She returned to school and graduated from Salem State College. She had lived in Manchester by the Sea for over 65 years and had wintered in Fort Lauderdale for 20 years. Lucille taught in the Salem Public School for many years before her retirement in 1976. She was a member of the Massachusetts Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church Manchester by the Sea. She loved to travel all over the world and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Surviving her are two daughters, Anne M. Mesgar and Lucille J. Goodwin and her husband Donald L., all of Manchester by the Sea; four grandchildren, Daniel J. Goodwin and his wife Trish, A. Lee Goodwin and her husband Ric Schwarzmann, Elisabeth McDonough and David Mesgar; one great-granddaughter, Sophia L. Caron; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Eugene P. McDonough, a firefighter from the St. Johnsbury, Vt., Fire Department. , 36, of Waterford, passed away in her sleep Thursday morning, July 13, 2006, at DHMC in Lebanon, N.H. She grew up in Newtown, Pa. In her third year of college while home on Christmas break, she suffered her first internal brainstem bleed. She never complained and always looked on the bright side. She was amazing. She loved Jimmy Buffett and was a definite Deadhead, having gone to several Grateful Dead concerts over the years. The Peisers moved to Waterford in 1992 and devoted these last 15 years to her care and wouldn't have had it any other way. She loved her cat "Cat" and volunteered at Above the Notch Humane Society in Littleton where she enjoyed giving her time to strays. She especially loved going to plays at the Weathervane Theatre. She is survived by her parents, Nancy and Ray Peiser of Lower Waterford (P.O. Lisa, originally from Lancaster, N.H., was born on Dec. 5, 1968, to Richard and Doris (Oliver) Hammond. A 1988 graduate of White Mountain Regional High School, Lisa went on to receive her Licensed Nursing Certificate in 1993 and her Medical Technology Certificate in 1998 from New Hampshire Technical College. In 2000, she earned her associate's degree in nursing from Norwich University in Vermont. Lisa began her health-care career at Morrison Nursing Home in Lancaster and continued under the guidance of Dr. John Spicer of Littleton. Since 2000, Lisa has been a registered nurse at Littleton Regional Hospital where she had a special interest in hospice care and trauma nursing. Prior to Lisa's illness, she accepted an internship for training as a trauma nurse in emergency medicine. The wife of a police officer, Lisa was an ardent supporter of law enforcement and fire services. Lisa had a passion for collecting antiques and angels, decorating, traveling, reading, fishing, and cooking. She cherished time spent in the company of family and friends and especially treasured spending time with her husband, children, and their pets. Her mother, Doris Hammond, predeceased Lisa. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Pillsbury Funeral Home-Littleton Chapel, 101 Union St. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church on Tuesday, July 18, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the St. Rose Cemetery in Littleton. , age 59, Littleton, N.H., passed away suddenly on July 10, 2006, at the Littleton Regional Hospital. Stan was born on Aug. 13, 1946, a son to Stanley J. and May (Bartley) Knapp, in Amesbury, Mass. Stan operated his own business of 22 years, Stan Knapp's Custom Building, and took pride in the many homes that he built in the local area. He was an avid motorsports fan and enjoyed restoring his classic cars and, in particular, rebuilding motors. Surviving family members include his mother, Mary Knapp of Seabrook, N.H.; a son, S. Joseph "Joe" Knapp III of Lyman, N.H.; a daughter, Amy R. Paradis of Fremont, N.H.; a brother, Michael Knapp of Seabrook, N.H.; a sister, Sally Tatro of Seabrook, N.H.; three grandchildren; and companion Gillian Morrison. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 17, at 10 a.m. in the St. Rose Cemetery with the Rev. Fr. John Fleming as celebrant.

, 67, of 371 Old School House Road, South Ryegate, Vt., died July 14, 2006, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., following an extended illness. She was born in Haverhill, N.H., March 27, 1939, the daughter of George J. and Violet (Minshull) Welch. She was a waitress at the Wallingford Country Club and Gaetano's Restaurant in Wallingford, Conn. She had also owned RJ's Lunchenette in East Haven, Conn. She lived in Wallingford and North Haven for several years before returning to South Ryegate in 1989. Upon her return to South Ryegate she operated the South Ryegate Village Store. She is a member of the South Ryegate Presbyterian Church. Music was an important part of her life and she enjoyed playing the piano and other instruments, as well as singing. Shirley had a passion for animals having grown up on a farm and that passion continued through her life having raised many family pets, including her dog "Buffy." Shirley was a dedicated mother and grandmother to her family. She was predeceased by a sister, Katherine Haskell on June 7, 1996. Survivors include her children Rodney A. Maxwell and his wife Susan of Haddam, Conn., Joni R. Maxwell and her husband Richard of Middletown, Conn., and Julie K. Shull and her husband Lee of Sandy Hook, Conn.; her grandchildren, Rory J. Maxwell of Wallingford, Conn., Tyler R. Maxwell of Haddam, Conn., Ian Maxwell Shull and Olivia Violet Shull, both of Sandy Hook, Conn.; her companion Emil Gaetano of South Ryegate, Vt; her brothers George Welch of Claremont, N.H., Carlos Welch of Springfield, Vt., Gene Welch of Topsham, Vt., and Roy Welch of South Ryegate, Vt.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Calling hours will be on Sunday, July 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch St., Woodsville, N.H. , 93, wife of the late Eugene P. McDonough, died Monday, June 12, 2006, at the Blueberry Hill Health Care in Beverly, Mass. Born in Salem, daughter of the late Alfred and Eugenie (Proulx) Theriault, she attended Salem public schools and was an honor graduate from Ste. Chr?tien High School in Salem. Following high school, Lucille attended Salem Normal School. She returned to school and graduated from Salem State College. She had lived in Manchester by the Sea for over 65 years and had wintered in Fort Lauderdale for 20 years. Lucille taught in the Salem Public School for many years before her retirement in 1976. She was a member of the Massachusetts Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church Manchester by the Sea. She loved to travel all over the world and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Surviving her are two daughters, Anne M. Mesgar, and Lucille J. Goodwin and her husband Donald L., all of Manchester by the Sea; four grandchildren, Daniel J. Goodwin and his wife Trish, A. Lee Goodwin and her husband Ric Schwarzmann, Elisabeth McDonough and David Mesgar; one great-granddaughter, Sophia L. Caron; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Eugene P. McDonough, a firefighter from the St. Johnsbury, Vt., Fire Department. A memorial Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Manchester by the Sea, on Saturday, July 22, 2006, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. The family has requested no visiting hours. Burial in Rosedale Extension Cemetery, Manchester by the Sea. passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2006, at North Country Hospital with his wife and daughter at his side. He was born in Newport and lived in the area for most of his life. He worked with his father as a cabinet maker and during World War II, he completed 400 hours at the Merkland Machine Shop which equipped him to work in the aircraft industry during the second World War both in Windsor, Vt., and Hartford, Conn. John spent 371/2 years at Ethan Allen, where he retired as a supervisor in April 1985. John was a justice of the peace for the town of Barton, a member of the planning commission and he recently received a commendation from the governor's office for his many years of service. John also served on the board of directors of the Memphremagog Historical Society and was able to contribute many interesting facts about Newport during the early years (1920 on). He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge. John enjoyed gospel music and enjoyed concerts at various churches in the area as well as in Florida. He was known for his creativity, workmanship, and his love of friends and family. John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lois M. Moore; his daughters, Carol Moore-Whitney and her husband Peter Whitney of East Burke, Vt., and Betty Moore and friend Ed Nollmann of Hudson, Fla.; granddaughters, Maya and Joleil Whitney; several nieces and nephews; as well as brothers-in-law, Alton Magoon and Kenneth Magoon. Visiting hours will be held at the Church of God, Crawford Road, Newport, on Tuesday, July 18, from 1-2:30 p.m. with a funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Internment will be on Saturday, July 22, at Lake Road Cemetery.
