SWANTON - Chris Anthony Daudelin
....show , age 59, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans after a sudden heart attack.
Chris was born in Burlington on June 28, 1958, the son of the late Harold Peanut and Janice (Ferrier) Daudelin.
Chris retired in 2016 after a 34 year career at IBM (Global Foundries). He was an active member of the Swanton Christian Church and took pride in volunteering his time and fellowship to the congregation. One of Chris' favorite hobbies was interior painting, which he graciously did for his wife, many times over. Being the sun worshiper that he was, a painting job outside was just icing on the cake.
Other hobbies included taking a spin on his motorcycle on a hot sunny day, attending an occasional concert with his sons and brother, only to enjoy the time spent with family over the concert itself. He loved The Beatles, hockey and football, and for better or worse he was a committed NY Giants fan. Chris was known for his infectious smile, wise cracking sense of humor and down to earth happy-go-lucky nature whose motto was water off a ducks back . Anyone who knew Chris loved him and would say he left them a better person for having known him. We will forever hold him in our heart until we can hold him in heaven.
Chris leaves behind his wife of 15 years, Sherilyn Daudelin of Swanton; his sons, Eric Daudelin and his wife Lynn of Fairfax, Shawn Daudelin and his wife Shantel of East Fairfield, Jason Trippany and his wife Diane of Highgate, Justin Trippany and his significant other, Bryanna of Colchester and Jordan Cadieux and his fianc Shawnee Lissenden of St. Albans; six grandchildren, Avery, Parker, Zachary, Bentley, Sienna and Kendelle and his brother, Steve Daudelin and his wife Lori of Milton and their two children Christopher and Sr. Josephine Rose.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 9:30-11:00 AM at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton.
A memorial service will follow on Saturday at 11:30 AM at the Swanton Christian Church, 7 Academy Street, Swanton with the Rev. Daniel Brueckner officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the New Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Burlington.

EAST FAIRFIELD - Donald W. Kittell
....show , age 90, passed away Monday, September 18, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at his home in East Fairfield.
He was born November 18, 1926 in St. Albans to the late Wesley Kittell & Louella (Boucher) Soule.
Donald grew up in East Fairfield and attended Brigham Academy before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. After returning from the war, he married Eleanor (Stone) on July 2, 1950. Most of Donalds working career was spent with Central Vermont Railroad, he retired in 1989. After retirement, Donald worked part-time in construction and helped with several community roles, including commissioner of the East Fairfield Water District and Chief of the East Fairfield Fire Department. He was an avid deer hunter and Red Sox fan and he loved cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eleanor Kittell of East Fairfield; their children, Dana Kittell and his wife Judy of East Fairfield, Karla Messier and her husband Duane of East Fairfield, Ruth Mangan and her husband Donnie of East Fairfield, Vicki Counos and her husband Bill of St. Albans, Kerry Dulude and her husband Tim of Berkshire and Kathy Bushey and her husband Rodney Jr. of East Fairfield; grandchildren, Kregg Kittell, Kamie (Justin) Holmes, Megan (Jason) Vaillancourt, Melissa (Forrest) Keelty, Matthew (Hollie) Messier, Morgan (Matt) Hale, Kaitlin Mangan, Ryley Mangan, Kyle Counos, Keeli (Derrick) Garceau, Kelsey (Jon) Malboeuf, Korey Counos, Ryan (Meggan) Dulude, Moira (Michael) Quirion, Travis Dulude, Samara (Ryan) Jacobs and Shawn & Shane Bushey; 22 great grandchildren; his sister, Martha Cameron and her significant other Bob Granger of Belvidere; siblings-in-law, Polly Cosgrove of Bakersfield and Lane Stone and his wife Becky of East Fairfield and many nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Donald was predeceased by his step father, Max Soule; twin brother, Ronald Kittell; brother, Samuel Soule and brothers-in-law, Doug Stone and Tom Cosgrove.

A funeral service will be Friday, September 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the United Church of Bakersfield & Fairfield on East Bakersfield Road in Bakersfield. Interment will follow in the Egypt Cemetery in East Fairfield.

Marie D. Tremblay
....show , age 71, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 18, 2017, surrounded by her loving family, on her 52nd wedding anniversary, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in St. Albans on January 16, 1946 to the late Edward Hemond Sr. & Rose (Smith) West.
Marie was a graduate of Richford High School class of 1964. She married Gilbert Tremblay on September 18, 1965. Maries passion was raising her children and being a special part of her grandchildrens and great grandchildrens lives. She was an antique collector; especially of childrens toys, a lover of music and most importantly, the matriarch of her family. Marie lived for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and she always made sure every holiday was special for them. Her favorite place to relax was anywhere by the water.
She is survived by her husband, Gilbert Tremblay of St. Albans; 4 beautiful daughters, Michelle Stanley and her husband Mark of Franklin, Kari-Ann Tremblay and her partner Ian Casperson of Swanton, Suzanne Suzie Tremblay and her partner Shawn Toussaint of St. Albans and Danielle Garrant and her husband Ian of St. Albans; her beloved grandchildren, Sean, Will & Chandra Stanley, Eva Watson, Patrick, Devin & Meagan Staples and Ellie, Annabelle, Joshua & Joseph Garrant; great grandchildren, Chloe & Gavin Smith, Lucy Watson and Madelyn Staples; her brothers, Edward Bud Hemond and his wife Vicki of St. Albans, Paul Hemond and his wife Judy of Richford and Richard West and his wife Kristi of Cape Coral, FL; sisters, Rita Howard of St. Albans, Darlene Gregoire and her husband Mark of Richford and Angie Paquette and her husband Ronnie of Richford and several nieces & nephews. Robert (Bucky) Lapan Sr.
....show age 72 passed away Saturday afternoon September 16 2017 surrounded by family at the Northwestern Medical Center.
Born in Swanton on, November 16 1944, he was the son of Noah and Mary Jane (Garner) Lapan. He attended St Annes Academy in Swanton.
On January 12th 1963 he married his wife, Shirley Lapan (Murphy).
Bucky retired from S.B. Collins where he worked for 35 Years.
He loved hunting, driving his ATV side by side, playing his guitar and singing to his wife.
He always looked forward to going to Pelkeys Archery with his son Bobby to compete in the bow shooting leagues.
Bucky enjoyed taking care of his family and was happy to help to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it.
People always enjoyed just sitting and talking with him. You would always learn something new from him.
In addition to his wife Shirley Bucky leaves 2 sons, Robert (Bob) Lapan Jr and wife Tracy, Fred and April Lapan of North Carolina and daughter Kelly Williams and husband Pete of Swanton; brothers, Norman and Janice Lapan, Larry Lapan and Noah Lapan Jr; his sister, Phyllis Draper; sister-in-law, Debbie Corliss brother-in-law Steve and Diane Murphy; grandkids, Heather, Beth, Jami, John, Emma, Freddy; great grandkids, Aireonna (wezzle), Louise, Skyler, Isabel, and Ava.
He was predeceased by son, Dwayne Lapan and granddaughter, Ashley Lapan. Also surviving are special people, Danny and Lynn Billado, Herman and Nancy Barratt, Bill and Brenda Daniels Jami and Kevin Lapan Andrew Saveall and Adam Christenson.

....show age 87 years, a lifelong Alburgh resident died unexpectedly early Thursday morning, September 14, 2017, at The University of Vermont Medical Center.
Born in Alburgh on, June 21, 1930, she was the daughter of George and Amelia (Duchaine) Blair. She graduated from Alburgh High and on April 13,1950 was married to the love of her life, Stanley Franklin Aylward who predeceased her in 1999. She was involved in the Alburgh Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary as well as the Island in the Sun Senior Center. She enjoyed her time at the casino, bingo, traveling and her Red Hat friends.
Georgette leaves her two sons and their wives, Stanley Earl and Cricket of Fairfield, VT and Robert and Mary of Bristol, CT; two sisters, Teresa Aylward and Goldie Cadieux; grandchildren, Trudy and John Cioffi, Craig and Alisa Aylward and Jamie, Matthew and Andrew Aylward; great grandchildren, Jacob, Tanner, Cooper, Andrea, Noah, Hailey, Amelia, Javon, Janiya, Caleb, Aaron and Carter. Also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Irene Dixon as well as her friends at Pine Manor.
Besides her parents and husband, Georgette was predeceased by a grandson, Todd Aylward and brothers-in-law, Arthur Aylward and Norman Cadieux.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 21, 2017, at 11 a.m. from Saint Amadeus Roman Catholic Church, 75 North Main Street, Alburgh Village, Father Rorgelio Organiza will be the celebrant and homilist. ....show , better known as BD, Duck, or Dad, age 75, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington.
BD was born in Windsor, VT on April 2, 1942 to the late Forrest E. Lapine & Ethel (Porter) Wilson.
Bruce graduated from the University of Vermont in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He taught high school history for several years, before finding his passion in carpentry. Bruce married Gail Casperson on November 25, 1988. They enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, hiking, canoeing, and gardening. His real passions were cooking, shaking a leg on the dance floor and playing guitar for his kids.
He leaves behind his wife, Gail Lapine of Swanton; his children Amanda Andrews and her husband Jordan, Mindy Lapine, Thomas Lapine and his significant other Holley, and Tamara Lapine all of Swanton; step-children, Alayne Bruno and her husband Michael of Castleton, Tiffanie Towle and her husband Jeff of Highgate Springs, Brye Trainer and her husband David of St. Albans, Ian Casperson and his significant other Kari of Swanton; 19 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; his sister, Sylvia Young and her husband William of Brownsville; nephew, Arthur Sandy Greenwood of Claremont, NH; mother-in-law, Sadie Lumbra of Swanton and brother-in-law, Michael Lumbra of Danbury, CT.

SWANTON - Arthur G. Goodhue
....show , age 64 years, died Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the VNA Respite House in Colchester.
Born in Burlington, Vermont, on September 10, 1953, he was the son of the late Arthur G. and Pauline Marie (Brown) Goodhue.
A 1971 graduate of Burlington High School he furthered his education at Wadhams Hall Seminary College in Ogdensburg, New York and later graduated in 1983 from the New England Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences in Boston, Massachusetts. He has been associated with The Kidder Memorial Home in Swanton since 1981 and he has owned KMH since 2001. He was also a member of both the Vermont and National Funeral Directors Associations.
Since 1981 he has been a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary - Saint Louis Parish and volunteered at the church in various ways. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Saint Edmund of Canterbury Council 776 and Fourth Degree Assembly 2207 in Swanton. He also served several years on the Town of Swanton Cemetery Commission.
On May 31, 1976, he was married to the former Yvette Marguerite Matte who predeceased him on, December 29, 1998.
He leaves his faithful, devoted fiance, Ginette Laroche Young of Swanton; two children, Lisa Anne Goodhue of Burlington and Paul Michael Goodhue and his companion, Jesse Meserve of Wenham, Massachusetts; Ginettes children, Amanda Young and her daughter, Lily Grace Whitcomb of Swanton and Jonathan and Arleigh Young and their daughter, Violet Elizabeth of Saint Albans; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Maurice and Claire Matte and their sons Adrian and Jordan Matte all of Winooski and several cousins.

Ronald Nelson Joseph Dragon
....show , age 67, passed away unexpectedly in Highgate on October 11, 2017 with his loving family by his side.
He was born August 11, 1950 in St Albans. The son of the late Roger Dragon & the former Antoinette (Garrow) Dragon. Ron attended East Highgate School and was a lifelong resident of Highgate. He worked for many years as a machine operator with the Bertek Company, drove School Bus and managed the operation of the Highgate Skating Rink. In his earlier years he worked on the family farm. In his later years he enjoyed helping his cousin, Richard Hoburn with sugaring and logging.
Ron enjoyed hunting with his longtime friend Joe Greenia, camping at Lakewood Campground, weekly card games with family and playing Bingo. He especially enjoyed spending time with family & friends and took the opportunity to be outside anytime he could. In earlier years he coached Little League and was a part of the Co-Ed Softball League.
He is survived by his son Jeremy Greenia & wife Michelle of Highgate, daughters Marie Greenia & significant other Terrance Parah, Jr. of Highgate and Cathy Brow & her husband John Sweet of Sheldon. Three brothers; David & his wife Jackie Dragon of Sheldon, James & his wife, Joyce Dragon of Highgate, John & his wife Terry Dragon of Highgate. Three sisters; Carol Teague & her husband Leo of Sheldon, Judy Dragon & Randy Ashton of Franklin and Nancy LaPlant of Highgate. Grandchildren; Chloe, Jazmyn and Aubrey Greenia, Lucas Parah and Hunter Sweet.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother-in-law George LaPlant.

FRANKLIN - Dennis A. Young
....show , age 54, passed away at his home on Monday October 9, 2017 following a brief illness.
Dennis was born November 9, 1962 the son of the late William & Phyllis (Solmes) Young.
Dennis was a longtime resident of Franklin and was employed as a plumber for over 30 years associated with St. Cyr Plumbing & Heating and more recently with Avonda Air Systems. Dennis enjoyed snowmobiling, NASCAR, Elvis and lately keeping up to date with friends and family on Facebook. He will be remembered as a person always willing to help others and will be missed by many.
The last 18 months, he was blessed to have watched his twin grandsons grow from tiny boys to little men. There were few things he wanted but those two boys made him complete. He waited so long for them and was so thankful for them.
He is survived by his wife, Debora (Hoffman) Young of Franklin. Dennis & Deb were married July 26, 1997. He is also survived by his daughter, Christina Candels and her husband Eric of Sheldon; his twin grandsons who affectionately called Dennis Papa D , Beckett James & Caleb Richard Candels; his brothers and their spouses, David & Susan Young of Picton, Ontario and Brian Young of Marmora, Ontario; his sister, Beverly Young and her husband William of Picton, Ontario; several nieces, nephews and brothers & sisters-in-law. Besides his parents, Dennis was predeceased by his son, James Alan Young on April 2, 2008; his step-son, Michael David Hoffman; and his brothers, Douglas J. Young and Kenneth W. Young.
Visiting hours will be held Friday October 13, 2017 from 3-6 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. A time of sharing and words of remembrance will begin at 6PM at the funeral home.

HASLET, TX - Martha Gale Yeager (Rowse) Marty
....show , 63, of Haslet, Texas, passed peacefully in her home on October 4, 2017.
Born on July 2nd1954 in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of Henry George Rowse and the late Jean Rowse (nee Miller).
Marty graduated from Enosburg Falls High School (VT), class of 1972 and attended Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. After college, Marty worked as an Optician for most of her life in West Palm Beach, Florida and Albany, Georgia. She was a devoted mother and loved her three boys dearly. Marty enjoyed water skiing, boating, enjoying the sun poolside, all animals (most notably horses and English Bulldogs), and, most of all, telling stories about her childhood camping experiences at Lake Carmi in Vermont. Martys biggest dream was to return to and live in Vermont; although she was never able to fulfill this dream, it will be her final resting place.
Marty is survived by her three sons, Daniel Coleman and his partner, Krystine of Austin, Texas, Benjamin Howell and his wife, Laurabeth of Haslet, Texas, and Randall Howell of San Francisco, California; her father, Henry Rowse of Deland Florida; a brother, Bill Rowse of Dexter, Missouri; three grandchildren, Brodie, Kyle, and Madeleine Howell; and lifelong family friend, Nancy Adams and her children, John Ryan, Jamie and husband, Brian, Jake, & Jodie.

FRANKLIN - Robert S. Robbie Hemond
....show , age 48, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017 as a result of an ATV accident. He passed away surrounded by his family at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington.
He was born September 24, 1969 in St. Albans to Paul Hemond & Carey (Waterhouse) Hemond.
Robbie enjoyed playing baseball when he was younger, he was a great pitcher. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and gardening. Robbie loved Lake Carmi and he was very passionate about keeping the water clean and safe. His favorite hobbies included cooking, tinkering on projects and spending time with his family and friends. Robbie was also an animal lover.
He is survived by his significant other, Lorraine Wright of Franklin; mother, Carey Hemond of Richford; father, Paul Hemond and his wife Judy of Richford; siblings, Michael Hemond and his wife Tracey and Wendy LeClaire and her husband Jason all of Richford; nieces & nephews, Brett, Chelsea, Brady and his fianc Justine St. Cyr & Shawnie Hemond; great nieces, Bella & Leah Hemond; his beloved dog, Star and several aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. SWANTON - Sherrill D. Strider
....show , age 84, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at his home in Swanton, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 15, 1933 in Asheboro, NC to the late William Shelton & Cora (Rose) Strider.
Sherrill grew up in North Carolina and joined the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in Guam during the Korean War and numerous bases throughout the United States and Canada during his military career. While stationed in Ontario Canada he met the love of his life Dilys Stone, they were married on August 16th 1961. Sherrill retired from the Air Force in 1972; he then opened their home-based business Striders Radio & TV. He loved spending time at their camp on Maquam Shore and his favorite hobbies were going fishing, watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball, and listening to country music; especially Merle Haggard.
He is survived by his wife, Dilys Strider of Swanton; their children, Sherrill Strider Jr. and his significant other Iva of Victorville, CA, Christina Weld and her husband Mark of Berkshire, Margaret Hoffman and her husband Chris of Swanton and David Strider and his wife Lydia of Swanton; 4 grandchildren, James & Christy Grandchamp, Ryan & Randel Hoffman; siblings, Leverette Strider and Gretchen Hancock both of North Carolina and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Sherrill was predeceased by his siblings, David Strider, Effie Cole, Ferry Williams, Buren Strider, Waymond Strider, Merle King and Faydene Macon.

BAKERSFIELD - Cole Paquette
....show , age 14, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 surrounded by his parents, siblings and grandparents, after a courageous battle with cancer at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
He was born April 17, 2003 in St. Albans to Craig Paquette & Jennifer Morse.
Cole graduated from Bakersfield Middle School last year and he was just starting his freshman year at Enosburg Falls High School. He was a sports fanatic that loved playing and watching everything. He also enjoyed hanging out and playing video games with his friends. Cole was stubborn and sarcastic at times, but both traits served him well with his recent battle. Cole was a fighter. He fought every single day for the past year and he inspired so many of us along the way. He became the star of #TEAMCRP and his determination will always be remembered. Cole will also be remembered as the best big brother ever and for his quick wit.

....show , age 78, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at his home in Bakersfield.
He was born September 16, 1939 in Richford to the late Albert & Pearl (Niles) Lumbra.
Graydon grew up in Richford and graduated high school from B.F.A. St. Albans. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army. Graydon had fond memories of his time in the service, especially his time as a Paratrooper. He worked as a Glazier for most of his life and spent 30 years at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. After retiring in 2001, he and his wife Mary moved up to Bakersfield. Graydon had a passion for the outdoors and he loved rabbit hunting with his beagles, maple sugaring, roasting pigs, logging, dancing and partying with Mary. He was also a supporter of the American Legion, he served as Commander of the Post #22 in Lebanon, NH.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (LaBelle) Lumbra of Bakersfield; his son, Aaron Lumbra and his partner Cindy Larned of Georgia; step-son, Chris Tanner and his wife Elizabeth of Enfield, NH; grandchildren, Devin Lumbra, Hannah Lumbra, Kaitlyn Tanner and Cole Tanner; his sister, Deborah Lumbra Caron and her husband Albert of Greenfield, NH; sister-in-law, Judith Ames of Milford, NH; several nieces & nephews and close family friends, the Forands, Monettes and Busiers. Besides his parents, Graydon was predeceased by his step-daughter, Starr Marie Tanner and his brother, William Lumbra.

SWANTON - Jeannette M. Belair Charbonneau
....show , age 85, of Swanton, Vermont passed into the next life peacefully, Wednesday November 8, 2017, on her 85th birthday, at her daughters home in Shawnee, Oklahoma after a prolonged illness.
She was born November 8, 1932 in St. Albans. Jeannette graduated from BFA St. Albans in 1951. She was married to the love of her life Charles E. Charbonneau from July 14, 1951 until his untimely death in 1991. Jeannette worked at Fonda Container in St. Albans for over 35 years. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, going on bus trips with the High Swan Senior Center of Swanton and traveling to visit her family. Jeannette will be dearly missed by her family and all that knew her.
She is survived by her children, Jackie Heck (William) of Oklahoma, Diane Martin (James) of Michigan and Paul Charbonneau (April) of Florida; a daughter-in-law, Denise Charbonneau of Swanton; grandchildren, Scott Charbonneau (Mariah) of St. Albans, Marc Charbonneau (Chelsea) of Swanton, Bradley Heck (Lyndsie) of Germany, Jennifer Crosby (William) of Oklahoma, Leah Martin of D.C., Matthew Martin of Massachusetts, Abigail Martin of Michigan, Chelsey Lawyer (Mark) of Enosburg; great grandchildren, Wyatt, Lauralei & Colton Heck, Grace & Quinn Crosby and Addison Lawyer; her siblings, Nancy McMillan (Jim) of St. Albans, David Bombardier (Carmen) of Burlington and Robert Bombardier (Karen) of Florida and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Jeannette was predeceased by her husband, Charles E. Charbonneau and their son Charlie Charbonneau.

....show , age 85, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017 at St. Albans Health & Rehab.
He was born in Enosburg Falls on January 6, 1932 to the late Cecil G. Sr. & Myrtie (Fontaine) Wetherby.
Cecil graduated from Enosburg Falls High School. He married Hilda (Beauragard) on June 26, 1953 and served in the U.S. Army later that year. After his return, Cecil worked at Champlain Chevrolet in Enosburg Falls. Cecil later got a job with Union Carbide in St. Albans, he retired from there after 26 years. Cecil & Hilda enjoyed camping at Goose Point for many years. He enjoyed fishing, boating and giving his grandchildren and great grandchildren rides on his golf cart.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Hilda Wetherby of Highgate; their children, Laura Bouchard and her husband Marcel of Fredericksburg, VA, Cecil G. III and his wife Denise of Spotsylvania, VA and James Wetherby and his wife Anna of Highgate; 6 grandchildren, Melissa Phipps and her husband Troy, Michael Bouchard and his wife Stephanie, Travis Wetherby and his wife Valerie, Erin Giles and her husband Jimmy, Lynn Durgan and her husband Jesse and Shauna Sweet and her husband Michael; 11 great grandchildren and nephews, David & Peter Wetherby. Besides his parents, Cecil was predeceased by his brother, Bernard Wetherby and his wife Shelby and a niece, Linda Wetherby.

She was born January 14, 1927 in Johnson, the daughter of the late George & Rena (Emery) Bradley.
She has been a resident of St. Albans Bay for over 40 years and was a former resident of Hyde Park. She was a member of St. Albans Bay Methodist Church and loved to cook, bake and read. Beatrice was a longtime employee of the State of Vermont working as the coordinator of the Services for People of Low Income.
She is survived by her sons, Clifford Willard Jones Jr and his wife Janet of Woodbury, Randy Elmer Jones and his companion Annette of Enosburg Falls, Kelley Bradley Jones and his wife Sherry of Eden, and Colin Raymond Jones of Danby; her daughters, Carolyn Ada Bishop and her husband George of East Brookfield, MA, Linda Lucille Douglas and her husband Lyle of Morrisville, and Elaine Rena Jones and her husband Michael Williamson of Georgia; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her brothers, Harvey Bradley of Fruita, CO, James Bradley and his wife Marilyn of Morrisville, Paul Bradley and his wife Joan of Morrisville; her sisters, Marjorie Hunt of Jericho, Lois Kittell and her husband Guy of St. Albans Bay, and Barbara Kittell and her husband Michael of Johnson; many nieces and nephews. SWANTON - June Gauthier Lovejoy
....show , age 89, a longtime resident of Greenwich St. in Swanton Village later residing at Homestead at Harborview in St. Albans, died early Sunday morning, October 29, 2017,with family by her side (and her special caregiver, Ashley).
She was born in International Falls, MN on, June 9, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Charles Gauthier and Senja Mary Hendrickson. She married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, John Lovejoy, on Nov. 30, 1946. June was a longtime member of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was an amazing woman and the heart of her family. She will be remembered for her quick wit and fast come backs. In high school, she played the cello. She loved playing cards (cribbage, pitch and hand & foot) and won several cribbage tournaments. She was an avid reader and loved word searches. Junes hobbies included sewing and quilting at which she was very talented. She was a lifetime Greenbay Packers fan. She was also an unbelievable cook and baker; her cinnamon rolls were to die for. She and John loved to have a good time and were often celebrating Thirsty Thursday and Freaky Friday with a cold beer. For the past four years of her life, while residing at Homestead, June made many new friends, enjoyed playing bingo and found her passion for art. She truly enjoyed the many caregivers who blessed her life.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St. Swanton. Fr. James Zuccaro will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will be held privately for immediate family members only in St. Mary's Cemetery. ....show , age 76, passed away Friday afternoon, October 28, 2017 at The Villa in St. Albans with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Montgomery Center on October 9, 1941 the daughter of the late Allen & Rosanna (Deuso) Brunton.
Shirley was a lifelong resident of Montgomery & Enosburg Falls and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She had worked as a housekeeper for St. John the Baptist Church as well as several families in the area. Shirley cherished the role of being a Mom and raising her family. She also enjoyed working along side her husband Gene doing the farm chores.
Shirley had many hobbies including, gardening, going black berry picking, playing cards, playing Megabucks and weekly lottery numbers, reading, doing word search puzzles, embroidering and visiting with family and friends, especially her friends at the Riverbend Apts. In her earlier years, she enjoyed hunting and fishing on the family farm in Montgomery Center.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Benway and her husband Earl Jack of Highgate; her sons, Edward Sturgeon and his wife Ann of Enosburg Falls, Allen Sturgeon and his wife Lori of Bakersfield, and Thomas Sturgeon and his wife Ula of St. Albans Bay; her grandchildren, Christopher Sturgeon and his fianc Katielynn Pelkey, Sherri Sturgeon, James Benway, Danielle Benway and her boyfriend Dylan Paquette, Allen Paradee and his wife Cecile, April Sturgeon, Kody Sturgeon, Charles Sturgeon, Tyler Sturgeon and his wife Jessica, and Megean Messeck and her boyfriend Robert Mewhinney; 13 great grandchildren; her brother, Stuart Brunton and his wife Stephanie of Montgomery Center; her sister, Charlene Lathrop of Northfield; several nieces and nephews. SWANTON - Irvin Duane Butch Bunting
....show , age 77, passed away Friday evening, October 27, 2017 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans with his loving wife by his side following a brief illness.
He was born August 2, 1940 in Livingston ,Illinois the son of the late Carroll & Dorothy (Irvin) Bunting.
Butch has been a resident of Swanton since 1972. He had a long career with the United States Border Patrol as a Border Agent with 16 years on the countrys southern border with the remainder on the Swanton Sector retiring in 1996 . Butch enjoyed raising and breeding European Brit gun dogs and also loved his English Bull dogs. He will be remembered as a fair and no-nonsense person, best described by his wife as a Cowboy .
His son Kevin feels that the following lyrics by David Crowder also fits his Dad;

He is survived by his wife Kathleen Zeke (Guidry) Bunting of Swanton; his son, Kevin Kip Bunting his wife Dani of New Mexico and Kevin's children, Abby, Twins - Zachary & Kerri-Jo and Anderson. Butch thanks Dani for being a loving wife to his son and making him happy. He is also survived by his daughter, Lori Potter her husband Mike and Lori's two children, Cameron & Jessie. She was born October 10, 1945 in St. Albans, the daughter of the late Kenneth & Lucy (Laselle) Sweet.
Merilyn was a lifelong resident of Swanton, a graduate of Swanton High School and attended Johnson State College. She was employed at I.B.M. as a technician for 30 years. Merilyn had many hobbies including collecting dolls, decorating her home for several holidays, camping, reading and doing puzzles. She will be remembered for her delicious cakes she made for family and friends for special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries.
She is survived by her sister, Shirley Hakey of Highgate; her nephew, James Hakey and his husband James Schuler of St. Albans; her nieces, Heidi Hakey of Kipolei, HI, and Amie Hakey and her children, Ashley & Codi of Swanton; her special aunt, Evelyn Laselle of Swanton.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Swanton Memorial United Methodist Church 23 Grand Ave., Swanton with Rev. Anne Torrance Bachmann officiating. BAKERSFIELD - Harrison Doane
....show , age 90, passed away, Sunday afternoon, October 22, 2017 at his home with his family at his side.
He was born June 3, 1927 on the home farm in Bakersfield the son of the late Tennyson & Floy (Camp) Doane.
Harrison was a lifelong resident of Bakersfield and graduate of Brigham Academy. He completed Agricultural Studies and Vermont Technical College in Randolph. He worked alongside his father on the farm prior to serving in the U.S. Army, when he received his honorable discharge he returned to Bakersfield to run the family farm that his ancestors worked since 1805. He loved all aspects of the farm life from milking the cows, sugaring with horses & buckets, logging and gardening until he retired in 1991, when his son Neil and his wife Joanne took over the family farm to continue the legacy. He continued to sugar on a smaller scale with his grandsons up until 2 years ago. Following his retirement, he volunteered countless hours at the Bakersfield Elementary School helping with various events and mentoring the students. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling the back roads of Vermont. Harrison was very active in the Bakersfield community, serving on the School Board, Cemetery Commission Historical Society and was a lifetime member of the Bakersfield United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his children, Neil Doane his wife Joanne of Bakersfield and their children, Aaron, Adam, Anna & Aidan; Patricia Myers her husband Thomas of Silvis, IL, and their children Jessica DeClerck husband Nathan and their children Hunter & Thomas, and Samuel Myers and his partner Casey Hale; Marie Doane of Morrisville her son Bradley Blaisdell his wife Kristine and their children, Colten & Delaney; and Doris Sleeman her husband Craig of Winooski and their children, Kathryn & Morgan; his brother, Carlton Doane and his wife Phyllis of Canton, NY; several nieces and nephews. SWANTON - Gloria M. Cotier
....show , age 75, passed away Saturday morning, October 21, 2017 at the Franklin County Rehab Facility in St. Albans.
She was born March 31, 1942 in Melrose, MA the daughter of the late Edwin Searle Mitchell Jr. & Grace Mary (Muller) Mitchell.
Gloria moved around the world as the daughter of a career Army father. She attended BFA St. Albans and graduated from high school while living in Germany. She married J. Bart Cotier on February 17, 1962 and they made their home in New Jersey where they raised their two sons. She worked as a systems manager from 1977 through 2000 for an advertising agency in New Jersey. The family spent summers at Lake Champlain and in the summer of 2000, she bought her lake house making Vermont her permanent residence. Shortly after coming to Vermont she became a para-professional at the Highgate Elementary School retiring in 2013.
Gloria loved to spend time at her lake house with her family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, especially crime & mystery novels.
She is survived by her sons and their wives, Joseph & Eun Cotier of Glastonbury, CT and Matthew & Charolette Cotier of Wellington, CO; her grandchildren, Hannah, Joshua, Christopher, Jessica & Krystal; her brother, Edwin Searle Mitchell III and his wife Lori of Guilford, CT; her sister-in-law, Michele Soriero of Dayton, OH; several nieces and nephews; Besides her parents & husband, Gloria was predeceased by her brother, Robert Curtis Mitchell.

She was born November 24, 1918 in Highgate Springs, the daughter of the late J.B. & Angelina (Roy) Granger. In 1941, she married Raymond Nolan.
Jeannette was a lifelong resident of Highgate and was a graduate of St. Annes Academy, and received her GED at age 79. She was an active member of St. Louis Catholic Church, serving as the former chair of the Parish Council, Eucharistic Minister, Religious Education Commission & Ladies of St. Anne Society.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Dennis & Patricia Nolan of Highgate Center; her daughter Jacqueline & husband Wayne Timura of Monument, CO and Joyce Kemp and her partner Dan Companion of West Enosburg, and former son-in-law Mark Kemp of Highgate; 7 Grandchildren: Amy (Ernie) Bouchard, Tina (Clay) Forgan, Megan (Jay) Evans, Danika (Stephen) Felts, Zachary (Tricia) Timura, Justin (Alyssa) Kemp, and Jenna (Morgan) Stanton, 11 Great Grandchildren: Brandon and Erin Langevin, Luc and Kate DeTellis, Sam and Nathan Bouchard, Morgan, Parker and Addison Evans, Mable Kemp, and Maelyn Stanton. She also leaves behind 2 Godchildren: Wayne Nolan and Doris Cota Bergeron, 2 Special Cousins: Sr. Estelle Granger and Jeanine Granger of Canada, 3 Nieces: Elaine Conlin, Nancy Boucher, Rosemarie Lebel and 1 nephew: Wayne Nolan. She also leaves friends from the Breakfast Group, special neighbors Debby and Clarence Miller, and many caregivers from Our Lady of the Meadows.
Besides her parents, Jeannette was predeceased by her husband Raymond Nolan in 1993, their daughter Rachel in 1945, her sister, Theresa Ouimet in 2011, her 3 brothers, Henry, Homer, and Gerard, and her grandson, Dennis Nolan, Jr. in 1985.
Besides farming, Jeannette worked as Hot Lunch Agent at the Highgate Elementary school, and later as the librarian at the Highgate Library for 15 years. Jeannette was also active in the local Democratic Party, serving as serving as Chairman, Secretary and Delegate to Franklin County Democrats. She and Raymond were pleased to meet with President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter at the White House. In addition, she served as Treasurer for the Highgate Historical Society, served on the Highgate School Board, the Franklin County Reparative Board, and was a Health Officer. Jeannette enjoyed sewing, making quilts, crossword puzzles, Facebook, scrapbooking, and cooking/baking.

....show , age 95, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2017 at the Franklin County Rehab Center in St. Albans.
Claire was born in St. Edouard, Quebec Canada on January 9, 1922 the daughter of the late Gustave & Marie-Rose (Bombardier) LEcuyer.
Claire was an avid vegetable gardener for many years and enjoyed working with her flowers. She loved sharing her Canadian history, stories, music, recipes, and canning goods with her children and their families. Her traditional family Christmas parties and reunions will be remembered by all. A person that her children looked up to and modeled themselves by. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, Claude Lussier his wife Patricia, Diane her husband Denis Menard, Denise Charbonneau, Norman Lussier, Gisele her husband Maurice Montcalm, Monique Olds, Lorraine her husband Mark Brooks, Sue Young her partner Kevin Sabourin, Michelline Larose, and Carol and her husband Frank OConnor; her daughters-in-law, Joan Lussier & Bonnie Lussier; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Claire was predeceased by her husband Albert. She was also predeceased by two sons, Richard & Rejean Lussier; two sons-in-law, Bruce Olds & Charles Charbonneau; and friend & companion Maurice Laroche.
Claire and Albert were married November 16, 1940. They emigrated from Canada to Vermont in 1945.

RICHFORD - James R. LaClair
....show , age 72, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
He was born March 23, 1945 in Barre, VT to the late Robert LaClair & Jean (Lackey) Bannon.
Jim was a devout traditional Catholic. God came before anything else in his life and he enjoyed sharing his faith with others by teaching catechism and adult bible studies, participating in LEAP Retreats, playing guitar at Mass and making custom rosaries.
He graduated from Montpelier High School and St. Michaels College. Jim married Jacqueline (Gagnon) on June 26, 1976. He was a Master Teacher of English Literature and during his career he taught at Highgate High School, Missisquoi Valley Union High School and Richford High School. Affectionately known as Lonestar Jim, he touched the lives of many students throughout his career, long live Trailer Power!
After God, family and friends came music and sports. He was a guitarist and singer and he had played in the bands Green Mountain Connection and The Relics. Jim was a Bob Dylan aficionado and he proudly attended 62 concerts! Football and Car Racing are two of Jims favorite sports; hes had a love-hate relationship with the NY Giants since he was 12. Jim also enjoyed his time announcing high school basketball games at Enosburg & Richford High Schools.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline LaClair of Richford; their son, Joshua LaClair and his daughters Genevieve & Noelle and their mother, Cheryl all of St. Albans; their daughter, Johanna Bendt and her husband Jimmie of Wheat Ridge, CO; his siblings, Joan Brennan and her husband Michael of Crossville and Knoxville, TN, Michael Bannon and Sandy of Waterbury and Theresa Bannon; siblings-in-law, Rene & Phyllis Gagnon of Leominster, MA, Bernie & Betty Ward of Kimberly, British Columbia and Simone & Lee LaRocque of Manchester, CT and several close friends, nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his grandparents, George & Anna Lackey; step-father, Bob Bannon and siblings-in-law, Guy Gagnon, Victor Gagnon and Justine Bracani.

Howard Hank Lawrence Leach Jr.
....show , a well-known business owner and lifelong resident of Enosburg Falls, VT, died unexpectedly on Sunday November 19, 2017 at the age of 51.
Born in St. Albans, on February 15th, 1966, he was the son of Louise B. (Blouin) Leach and Howard Buzzy Leach Sr.
He was a graduate from Enosburg Falls High School in the year of 1985. Over the years Hank went on to take over the family business, owning and operating the Gravel Pit and later incorporating his logging business. His extremely strong work ethic, which was learned from his father, taught his children that you only stop when the job is done.
A few of his fond memories included the countless hours he and his brother Jake spent building and racing their mud bog, fishing trips with his father, going to NASCAR races, Richie Brother auctions and time spent with his eldest son Joshua.
Hank had the ability to brighten any room with his big smile and outgoing personality, constantly looking to have a good time. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anybody in need without hesitation, no matter how big or small the job may have been. There was always room for improvement in his eyes; this taught those around him to live, work and breathe with integrity, dignity and passion.
He is survived by his lifelong partner and mother of his children, Nancy Leach; his children Leanne, Alyson, Matthew and Jacob Leach; his grandchildren Noah, Natalee, Jaxon and expected granddaughter; his sister Dorothy Childs and her husband Jim; his brother Patrick Leach as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Hank was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Louise; his son, Joshua Leach; his brother, Jacob Leach; his grandson, Prestyn Leach; his father in-law, Roy McAllister; and aunts and uncles, Buster, Sabra & Tony.
Services will be held on Saturday November 25th at 12:00 PM at the Saint John the Baptist Church, 152 Missisquoi St., Enosburg Falls. Interment will take place next spring in the Sheldon Village Cemetery.

Richard was born in Burlington on May 22, 1931 to the late Lewis Sr. and Evelyn (Harris) Scribner.
Richard was a finish carpenter whose passion was working with wood. He spent 13 years honing his craft at Kennedy Brothers in Vergennes. Richard also served in the Army. He was a kind loving man that adored doing everything with his family. They hunted, fished, cooked and hosted family BBQs together frequently. Included in their adventures was his cherished dog Willy. Willy adored Richard. Richard always found time to mess around with his good buddy Conrad who stayed with him to the end. One of Richards greatest accomplishments was building a sought-after replica of a Concord Stagecoach.
He is survived by his wife Minnie Scribner; son Dale Scribner and his significant other Tammy Terren of Enosburg; brother Bill Scribner of NY; sisters Mary Moore and Beverly Jones of NC; nephew John Jones of SC and niece Andrea Jones of SC. Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by his son Richard Scribner Jr.; brother Lewis Jr. and sisters Carlene and Barb.

SWANTON - Dexter Billings Spaulding
....show was taken home to the Lord at Franklin County Rehab Center in St. Albans, VT on November 14, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
Dexter was born on August 21, 1935 in Waterbury, VT at the home of his parents, Jessamine (Billings) and Harry Spaulding, Sr.
Dexter graduated from Waterbury High School in 1953. He attended Albany College of Pharmacy graduating in 1958. While at ACP, Dexter was Senior Class President and Treasurer of Kappa Psi Fraternity. Dexter and Judith (Hubler) were married on October 1, 1960 in Syracuse, NY. After living and working for two years in Glens Falls, NY, Dexter and Judy purchased Swanton Rexall in September of 1962; in January of 1979, Dexter and Judy purchased Spears Pharmacy in Enosburg, VT.
Dexter was a member of the Vermont National Guard, attended Vermont Military Academy earning the rank of 2nd Lieutenant on August 6, 1961. Dexter was a Swanton Little League coach; involved in the Swanton Recreation, NWC Cardiac Capers and United Way Board. He received the Vermont Small Businessman of the Year award and was a member of the Swanton Chamber of Commerce and served as President and Chairman of the Swanton Summer Festival. Dexter was awarded the AH Robins Bowl of Hygeia for outstanding community service in Pharmacy in September 1971. He was the Swanton Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Citizen of the Year in 2001. Dexter was also a member of the Missisquoi Valley Rescue Squad and a Swanton Selectmen.
Dexter was recognized by Governor James Douglas for his outstanding community service for Meals on Wheels in September 2007. Dexter volunteered at the Northwestern Medical Center; represented ACP at the Inauguration of Dr. John Neuhauser as the 16th President of St. Michaels College. Most of all, Dexter was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend to many.
Dexter is survived by his loving wife and soul-mate Judith (Hubler) of 57 years, his son Troy and wife Louise (Begnoche), his daughter Natalie (Spaulding) and her husband Kevin Remillard. Dexters eight beloved grandchildren Olivia Spaulding and her fianc Michael Sprague, Jorie, Sydney and Kendall Spaulding, Gabrielle (Remillard) and her husband Jonathan Robarge, Hannah Remillard, Kristopher Remillard and his wife Jenna (Provost) and Sean Remillard. His great grandchildren Aria and Ainsley Remillard and his beloved cat Trixie. His brother and partner in business Bruce and his wife Cheryl (Reynolds) Spaulding; brother-in-law Michael and Trish Hubler, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a special Uncle Richard Hertzel. Predeceased by his parents Jessamine and Harry Spaulding, brother Col. Harry Spaulding, MD, Jr., his mother and father-in-law Harry and Hilda Hubler and brother-in-law Harry Jay and wife Dottie Hubler.
Dexter touched the hearts of many by his deeds of generosity, which shall remain unbeknownst to many.

ST. ALBANS - Mary Goodhue
....show , age 85, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017 at her daughters home in St. Albans.
She was born in Richford on August 14, 1932 to the late Emery and Hilda Della (Tatro) Bonnette.
Mary worked for the Northland Hockey Stick company in Richford for 22 years where she glued the blades to the stick handles. Her family recalls wonderful memories of working together at the company where her son Lonnie sanded the blades for his mom to glue and her daughter Irene finished the product by shaping them. She adored playing bingo and would often attend 5 nights a week. She was truly her own person that loved her independence and passionately lived her life enjoying it to its fullest. She lived for the past 25 years at the Holy Angles apartments in St. Albans where she had many friends that she loved and that absolutely loved her. They really looked after each other. She always walked everywhere; to the store, to her hairdressers. A healthy active woman that was happy to say that she never got sick. Mary cherished the time she spent with all her family. The family would like to thank Marys granddaughters, April Furlow & Heather Goodhue, for all their help and for taking Mary to bingo, it meant a lot to her.
She is survived by her children, Lonnie Goodhue of Rochester, NY, Thelma Murray and her husband Henry of Richford, Priscilla Murray and her significant other Scott Gonyea of St. Albans, Paul Goodhue and his wife Sena of Richford, and Irene Goodhue of Richford; former daughters in law, Jill Heath and Delphia Goodhue; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband of 41 years Melbourne Goodhue; daughters, Debbie Codling and Cheryl Goodhue; granddaughter, Brandy Goodhue and sister, Margaret Goodhue.

He was born July 14, 1937 in Montgomery to the late Horace & Ada (Longe) Greenwood.
Ray has been a resident of the area for all his life. He worked at Sweat & Cummings in Richford for many years and he also worked at Milton Bradley and the Longe Farm in Enosburg. Ray was known for his ability to come up with a nickname for everybody and he loved his own nickname, Grampy . Rays family meant the world to him, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Darlene Ives and her husband John of St. Albans, Ricky Mason and his wife Anita of Richford, Jodi Grigsby and her husband Travis of Enosburg Falls and Timothy Mason and his fianc Connie Bray of Richford; his grandchildren, Dillon Stanhope, Jamie Mason, Ricky Mason Jr., Brooke Mason, James Rhodes-Mason, Craig Mason, Alyssa Brunelle, Brandon Brunelle, Jacob Grigsby, Destiny Bray, Keaona Mason, Jasmine Mason and Timothy PJ Mason Jr.; great grandchildren, Shyanne Mason, Brady Mason, Cayhsen Bushey and Blaire Patterson; his sister, Talmadge Thelma Gross of Massachusetts; special friends, Claude Brunelle, Billie Westcom and Donna Howard and many nieces & nephews. He was born in St. Albans on February 17, 1956 to the late Albina and Linwood Gibney.
Terry had a long career driving truck for Starrs transportation of North Troy, McDermotts of Enosburg, NGC of Coventry and Sylvesters of Richford. Terry ended with a job, he couldnt be happier with, at Longe Trucking of Enosburg Falls.
Terry truly lived life to its fullest through his wild adventures and his passions for carpentry, cooking, kayaking, hunting, fishing and four wheeling. He enjoyed his many years attending Bike Week at Laconia on his Harley, camping at the ocean with his Mother Hubbard (wife Judy) and hosting cookouts for his beloved family and friends. He was always willing to give a helping hand and was known to be a jack of all trades. He was a fun-loving man that will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his soul mate of 38 years, Judith MacDonald and their loving daughters LeeAnn Gibney & fianc David E. Bordo of Enosburg Falls, Lisa Gibney and fianc John Aldrich of Richford, Melissa Gibney of Westfield, MA; his cherished grand children Kyleigh and Logan Bordo and Christopher and Skylar Aldrich; a very special niece Kristen Shamon of Mansfield MA, who he thought of as his daughter; sister McKayla Smith of Agawam MA and brother Shawn Gibney of Harrisburg PA; many other close friends and family and loyal and cherished dog Daisy Mae.
Besides his parents, Terry is predeceased by his brother Michael Gibney, nephew Jason Gibney, uncle Arthur St. Onge, aunt Janice Nunez and her husband Edward and his dog Pebbles.

RICHFORD - Richard W. Ryea
....show , age 82, passed away Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans after a short battle with cancer.
He was born in Richford, Vermont on September 22, 1935 to the late Ira and Kathleen (Nutting) Ryea.
Richard enlisted in the U. S Navy and served abroad many air craft carriers. The U.S.S. Wasp and the U.S.S Tarawa were among them. While serving in the Navy, he traveled overseas and loved to talk about all the ships on which he served and all the places he visited. Richard was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and enjoyed Nascar. He loved country music and wherever he was - in the car, outdoors, or inside - the music was always playing. He loved to dance, read westerns and take his wife Donna on Sunday drives. He always looked forward to visiting his grandchildren and all the big holiday family dinners. He loved all his grand-dogs as he called them, but his daughters little miniature schnauzer, Smokey Joe, was his buddy. He used to go get him and keep him for a while because he would miss him so.
After his discharge from the Navy, Richard went to work for Sweat and Cummings Furniture. He worked there until the factory closed and then went to Richford High School where he worked maintenance until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion for 27 years and served on their board. Richard was a master furniture maker who loved to work with wood and made many one-of-a-kind cradles, hope chests and picture frames, etc. for his family. He will always be remembered for his tremendous sense of humor and the love he had for his family and friends, of whom he had many.
He is survived by his wife Donna of Richford and their children Linda Ryea Richard and her husband Robert of Waitsfield, Randall Ryea and his wife Cindy of Richford, and Douglas Ryea and his wife Kimberly of Swanton; his brother Leland Ryea and his wife Rebecca of Milton and his grandchildren Brittany Ryea of Milton, Brandon Ryea of Swanton, Travis Ryea of Richford, Desiree Gingras and her husband Travis of Kannapolis North Carolina; very special sister-in-law Esther Combs and her husband Melvin of Richford and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by his sister Gladys (Ryea) Deuso; his brothers Ira Ryea Jr. and Eugene Ryea and his wife Melba; half-brother Robert Nutting and his wife Grace and his very special sister-in-law Regina Stewart.
In keeping with Richards wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg. A private burial will be arranged at a later date in the Richford Center Cemetery.

SWANTON - Virginia Ginger Erno
....show of Swanton died peacefully on November 8, 2017 at the age of 95.
Ginger lead a long, full, and happy life. She was born in Swanton on February 3, 1922 to the late Walter & Addie (Sartwell) Fadden, and prided herself on being the oldest Swanton-born town member. Ginger was spirited from the time she was a child; she loved to ride her bicycle around town with her feet on the handlebars and climb the tree in her front yard. She played basketball in high school and was the last surviving graduate of her Swanton High School class. During World War II, Ginger joined the war effort by assembling airplane parts at Pratt & Whitney in Hartford, CT. She met her husband of over fifty years, Hayden Erno, out dancing at Barkers in St. Albans (now Bayside Pavilion). Haydens opening line when he learned she was living in Hartford was, Why dont you stay here and marry me? Six months later, she did.
Ginger and Hayden's house, once the property of Northern Bus Lines, was renovated into the lovely home where Ginger lived for almost 70 years. They had two children, Pamela (Erno) Smith, married to Tom Smith of St. Albans, and Kim Erno; four grandchildren, Melissa, Molly, Katie, and Michael; and four great-grandchildren, Liam, Quinn, Hazel, and Oliver.
Ginger was creatively gifted; she enjoyed a good craft project and had an eye for antiquing. She was a beautiful seamstress; all four of her grandchildren received handmade quilts for their high school graduations. Ginger spent many summers with family and friends at her camp on Lake Champlain, which her grandchildren knew as Omas Lake. She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church and also attended services at the West Swanton Church. She loved maple creamies, made a mean apple pie, and took pleasure in watching the town goings-on from her front porch with a glass of Riesling.
Ginger is survived by her son, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating her life will be scheduled for a later date. For those who wish, donations in Gingers memory may be made to the UVM Medical Center Foundation.

He was born May 18, 1930 in Enosburg Falls to the late George B. & Geneva A. (Barry) Hayes.
James graduated from Enosburg Falls High School in 1949. He was one of the leaders of the effort to restart the EFHS Alumni Association for their 50th class reunion in 1999, he served as President of that organization during that time. He was a life-long dairy farmer, a member of the Holstein Friesian Association and founding member of the Franklin County Holstein Friesian Club. He married Helen (Corron) on August 2, 1952. James was involved in his community throughout his life; he was a Trustee for the Village of Enosburg Falls, a founding member of the Enosburg Falls Lions Club and a member of St. John the Baptist Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Vermont Cursillo Movement and the Enosburgh Historical Society. He is a past recipient of the Melvin Jones Award from Lions International and former King Lion. James also had a passion for cars, boats and model trains.
He retired in 1991 when he sold the family farm to his son. During retirement, James and Helen would spend their winter months in Tucson, AZ. James reveled in his role as Patriarch of the Hayes family and he always looked forward to sharing his sense of humor during family gatherings. Perhaps his greatest accomplishment was being the primary care giver for his wife, Helen, who is suffering from Alzheimers Disease. He was able to keep her home for several years while he was battling stage four cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen Hayes; their children, Patrick Hayes and his wife Kirsten of Enosburg Falls, J. Steven Hayes and his wife Kitty of Williston, Kathryn Lamb and her husband David of Wilder, George Hayes and his wife Andrea of Colchester and Susan Whitney and her husband Dale of Shelburne; 15 grandchildren, Sarah Dudley, her husband Justin, Rachel, Jeremiah, Eve & Micah Hayes, Eily, Ryan, his wife Susan and Sean Hayes, Christian, Molly & Michael Lamb, Ava & Griffin Hayes and Gordon & Samuel Harlow; 4 great grandchildren, Lilly & Colin Wedin and Milo & Wren Hayes; his sister, Rebecca Blanchard of Essex Junction and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, James was predeceased by his sisters, Veronica Brooks and Mary Read.
The Hayes family would like to thank Dr. Nunnick and the staff from the Oncology Department at the UVM Medical Center, Franklin County Home Health and the amazing staff at the VNA Respite House for the care James received.

She was born January 31, 1938 in Alburgh to the late Charles & Mildred (Soule) Pearo.
She is survived by her sister, Sandra Duhamel of Alburgh and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband Lloyd Jim Thompson.
In keeping with Shirleys wishes there will be no public services.
ALBURGH - Russell W. Goodsell Jr.
....show age 83, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at his home in Alburgh surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 14, 1934 in Rutland, VT to the late Russell Sr. & Catherine (Griffith) Goodsell.
Russell was an avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt, fish and work in his garden. He worked as a plumber for several years until he started the family business, Crossroads Mobil in Alburgh. Russell loved his role as Grampa and Great Grampa and he always looked forward to Alburghs July 4th parade, his home was the parade headquarters.
He is survived by his children, Paula Whitcomb and her husband Robert, Glen Goodsell and his wife Martha and Martha Goodsell and her husband Steve all of Alburgh; 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson; his long-time companion, Evelyn Dubuque of North Hero; sister, Betty King and her husband Fred of Colbrook, NH and many nieces, nephews & cousins. Besides his parents, Russell was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia (Hebert) Goodsell; their daughter, Andrea Balch and his sisters, Judy Clapper and her husband Arvin and Rita Lucas and her husband Fritz.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, December 11, 2017 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, VT. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM with Deacon Duane Langlois officiating. Interment will follow in St. Lukes Cemetery in Fairfax.

....show , 67, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
Dave was born July 14, 1950 in Jersey City, New Jersey the son of Florence (Reese) DiPerna and the late Joseph DiPerna.
At a young age he married the love of his life, Kathleen and became father to George and Kellie. In 1987 Dave inherited a new name that his family would forever know him by, Pa. Dave taught his family to work hard and take care of what matters most, the family. He expressed this value through countless hours repairing family vehicles in Pa's Garage, taking the kids to the Jersey Shore, one of his favorite places and was always available if someone needed him.
Dave was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. He was employed as a truck driver at Buddy Mosier, Cyr Lumber and Wrightholm Trucking as well as the Director of Maintenance at Our Lady of the Meadows and Ave Maria Community Care Homes in Richford. Dave loved his planes, trains, automobiles, Reese's Cups, and operating his Ham radio under the handle KB1JME. He was instrumental in promoting the Ham radio system in the area by helping to construct antennas. He also earned his pilot's license and loved flying with his grandchildren. His passion for these cherished things will be for what his family remembers him the most.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy (Stetson) DiPerna; his mother, Florence DiPerna; his daughter, Cathy DiPerna; his son, George Olio and his wife Lori; his daughter, Kellie Olio Flanders and her husband David; his daughter-in-law, Linda Olio; his grandchildren, Joseph Olio his wife Holly and their son Everett, Lawrence Olio and his partner Jesse Littlefield, Adam Olio and his wife Ashlie, Michael Olio, and Charlie Schurman. Besides his father, Dave was predeceased by his brothers, Neil, Phillip & Warren DiPerna.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 10:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church, 152 Main Street, Richford with Rev. Karl Hahr celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in the All Saints Cemetery in Richford.

She was born June 29, 1942 in St. Albans, VT to the late Floyd McSweeny & Marion (Donaldson) McSweeny.
Brenda was a deeply caring woman. Her sons recall cherished memories of wonderful Christmass, fresh cookies when they returned from school and spending time with her. She was a fantastic mom who provided a loving home for her kids and grandkids whom she loved dearly. She also opened her home to foster kids. Brenda loved to bake, and she was a great cook. She was a Home Health Caretaker for Franklin County Home Health, worked for Twin Craft in Customer Service and spent some time as a Dental Assistant. She absolutely loved playing BINGO, QVC shopping, gambling, reading, playing cards, dancing, and listening to country music. She cherished the time she spent with her family, friends and pets Shadow, Moonshine, Sally and Khloe. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her sons, Wayne Roger Thompson and his wife Laurie of New Hampshire, Scott Matthew Thompson and wife Tina of Highgate, Francis Skip Joseph Lewis Jr. and wife Gina of Alburg; daughter Tammy Mae Rogers and husband Steve of Hinesburg; step daughter, Michelle Dufresnse and husband Yve Critter ;11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; brothers, Robert and Douglas McSweeny; sister, Shirley Robinson. Besides her parents, Brenda was predeceased by her husband, Robert LaFountain; grandson, Sonny Armstrong and brother, Floyd McSweeny Jr.

ST. ALBANS - Robert Joseph Traynor
....show , age 93, passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 with his loving wife at his side.
He was born April 29, 1924 in Summit, New Jersey the son of the late, Robert Michael & Elizabeth (Casey) Traynor.
Robert grew up in Summit, NJ and was a 1942 graduate of Summit High School. Following high school Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army serving in the 10th Mountain Division during WWII with tours in Colorado, Texas & Italy. He received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Following his honorable discharge from the service he worked for various Plumbing & Heating contractors including Honeywell Regulator Company for 15 years. In 1966 he moved to Whitingham, VT and opened his own plumbing & heating business. From 1978 to 1991 her worked as the Vermont State Plumbing Inspector.
He belonged to several organizations including, Plumbers, Steamfitters & Pipefitters Local #309 (Serving as President) in Summit, NJ; Past President of the New England Chapter of the 10th Mountain Division Association; Past Faithful Navigator of the Charles Jasman Assembly of the Knights of Columbus in Barre, VT; and was a member of the Men of St. Joseph of Saint Monicas Catholic Church in Barre, VT.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Eleonore (Klopfer) Traynor of St. Albans Robert & Eleonore were married March 15, 1986. He is also survived by his sons, Robert Traynor and his wife Doremy of Tucson, AZ and Michael Traynor of Colchester, VT; his daughters, Mary Ann Gates and her husband Marvin of Taylorsville, IN, and Rosie Traynor of Concord, NH; his step-son, William Pelkey of Westford; his step-daughters, Lorinda Michaud and her husband Richard of Milton, and Heidi Malarchik and her husband Jack of Germany; 2 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 21 step great grandchildren; his brother, Richard Traynor and his wife Pat of ME; his sisters, Mary Lanzara of NJ, Elizabeth Bayard of FL, Eileen Grimm of NJ, Ann Traynor of FL and Kathleen Grimm of NJ. Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by his first wife, Ann Margaret (Walsh) Traynor on May 15, 1983; a step-grandson, Nicholas Malarchik; and a brother Jack Traynor.

SWANTON - Allen Joseph Bertrand
....show , passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 28th. Allen was born on November 5, 1939 on the family farm in Swanton; to Roseanna (Daneau) and Armand Bertrand. The family moved from Swanton, to Port Henry, New York and Bellows Falls, Vermont opening new locations for the familys dry-cleaning business.
Allen dutifully serviced his country in the United States Airforce from 1961-1981 obtaining the rank of Technical Staff Sargent. During his career he was awarded the following: Air Force Commendation Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Longevity Service Award with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Service Starts, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster and Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters.
Following his retirement from the Air Force, Allen worked at Swanton Rexall from 1983 to 2005. Where he was known best to all as Mr. Al.
Allen was a devoted parishioner of The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of the Knight of Columbus, St. Edmund of Canterbury Council 776 of Swanton Vermont. Allen was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 778.
Allen enjoyed traveling and playing Bingo with his companion Marylin Tynes. Allen was an avid card player and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was the master of completing challenging puzzles. Allen was a kind and generous man; always putting others before himself. He will be dearly missed by many.
Allen is predeceased by his long-time companion Marilyn Tynes. He is also, predeceased by his parents, Roseanna and Armand Bertrand, a sister Lise Talbot, brother Andre Bertrand, brother-in-laws Gene Talbot and Normand Begnoche and his beloved dog Duke.
Allen is survived by his daughter, Lisa Bechard and her boyfriend Mark Simonsen of Swanton; grandsons, Tyler Pelican and Marc Bechard III of Swanton; sisters, Rose Begnoche and her companion Raymond Bushey of Highgate Springs, Pauline Truax and her husband Ellis Truax of Swanton; nieces and nephews, Donna, Linda and Elaine Talbot of Florida, Debbie Bertrand of Bellows Falls, Tammy Bertrand and her fianc Anthony Ottaviano of Burlington, Mark Truax and his wife Tracey Gleason of Toms River, New Jersey, Michael Truax of Swanton, Michelle Truax and her boyfriend Tony Lussier of Swanton, Eric Begnoche of Highgate Springs and Renee Begnoche and her boyfriend Chad Cioffi of Highgate Springs and great nieces and nephew, Amber Bertrand of Melbourne, FL Brianna Truax of Alburgh, Katie Draper of Swanton and Erick Begnoche of Highgate Springs. As well as many dear friends including Shelia Benson, Mike and Nancy Barkyoumb, Marlene Lemnah and his dear friends from Swanton Rexall.

....show , age 72, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family Monday, November 27th 2017.
Maureen was born September 2, 1945 in St. Albans to the late John and Flora (Bombardier) Raleigh. September 12, 1964 she was married to Carl Bigelow and they proudly ran River View Farm together for many years. Maureen shared a love for traveling with her sister Peggy, and spending summers at the lake with her other sister Jackie. Hosting Holiday and family dinners was one of the many things she enjoyed, and she never let you leave her house feeling hungry. Her love of sports started when she was young and you could still find her talking about a baseball game or basketball score. In more recent years, Sundays on The Raft , with Stephen, Eliza, Jared, and their friends became memories shed cherish.
Her eldest son, Stephen C. Bigelow, his two children, Eliza M. Bigelow and Jared J. Bigelow, Daughter-in-law, Sara Bigelow, and her daughter, Bella S. Bigelow, survive Maureen. She also leaves her two sisters, Margaret Peggy OBrien of Albany, NY, and Jackie (Jacqueline) Quilliam of Edgewater, FL; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Maureen was predeceased by her youngest son, William Billy J. Bigelow; three brothers, Robert Bobby Raleigh, John Richard Raleigh II, and Richard Raleigh; husband, Carl R Bigelow, brothers-in-law, William O'Brien, and Reginald Quilliam.

Mark was born January 12, 1997 in Burlington the son of JoAnne (LaFountain) and Mark B. Martin Sr.
Mark was a lifelong resident of Isle LaMotte and a graduate of MVU Class of 2015. Mark was employed with the family business, M & J Lawn Care and in the off season worked for Ron Machia & Sons Farm in Sheldon. Mark could always be counted on to help any farm in the area that needed a hand. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying, duck hunting, deer hunting, ice fishing, bridge jumping and hanging out at a bonfire with his friends.
He is survived by his parents, Mark & JoAnne Martin of Isle LaMotte; his sister, Jessica Martin her boyfriend Matthew Hemingway and her daughter, Jeannette Martin of Isle LaMotte, and Cassie Hubbard her husband Nicholas and their son Harold Martin of So. Hero; his maternal grandfather, Edward LaFountain Jr. of Berkshire; many aunts, uncles and cousins. As well as many friends throughout Franklin & Grand Isle counties. Mark was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Priscilla LaFountain; and paternal grandparents, James & Cora Martin Sr.

He was born August 29, 1927 in Fairfield, VT the son of the late Archie & Edith (George) Malone.
Robert was a resident of East Bakersfield most of his life where he owned and operated a Jersey dairy farm since 1955. He enjoyed working the land, cutting wood, tinkering on old farm tractors, hunting, fishing and picking berries. Robert moved to the Brownway residence in 2011 and sold his farm in 2012.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Barney Malone Jr. of East Enosburg, Joyce Royea and her husband Gerald of East Enosburgh, Janice Elwood of Berkshire, and Arnold Malone of East Bakersfield,; many great nieces, nephews, good neighbors and friends. Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by his siblings, Barney, Richard, Ida, Margaret & Edward Malone.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Missisquoi Cemetery, Missisquoi Street, Enosburg Falls. There will be no visiting hours.

SHELDON - Maurice Domingue
....show , age 77, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Sheldon.
He was born January 4, 1940 in Sutton, Quebec, Canada to the late John & Harriet (Hopson) Domingue.
Maurice and his family migrated to the United States when he was 7 years old. He attended grade school in Sheldon and graduated from B.F.A. St. Albans in 1958. On April 30, 1960 he married the love of his life, Betty (Chadwick) Domingue. Maurice worked as an electrician at Union Carbide for most of his life, he retired in 2002 after 43 years with the company.
He was proud of the work he did to help start the Sheldon Fire Department. He helped raise funds to get the department going, served as Forest Fire Warden for over 25 years and served as Fire Chief. His favorite hobbies included snowmobiling, his 57 Chevy and traveling. Maurice & Betty traveled all over the world during retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Domingue of Sheldon; their children, Sandra Scott and her husband Darcy of Swanton, Michael Domingue and his wife Leena of Sheldon and David Domingue and his wife Jacqueline of Sheldon; grandchildren, Nicholas Scott and his wife Danielle, Hannah Scott, Emily Scott, Isaac, Aimee, Dustin & Em Domingue, Magan (Domingue) Eringler and her husband Dalee and Olivia, Noah, Abigayle & Eliza Domingue; 2 great grandchildren, Ethan & Bradynn; siblings-in-law, Mary Helen Kane and her husband James of West Suffield, CT, Harvey Chadwick and his wife Pauline of Swanton and Janet Chadwick of Waterbury and several cousins, nieces & nephews. ....show , age 11, passed away unexpectedly after an ATV accident on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Northwestern Medical center in St. Albans.
He was born on March 3, 2006 in St. Albans to Thomas & Renee (Boudreau) Pattee.
Colby accomplished a lot in his 11 years. He was an excellent outdoorsman; he loved to hunt and fish. He had a tremendous work ethic; he would regularly take care of the animals at his grandfathers barn. He made a difference in the lives of others with his compassion and genuine kindness. Colby would give the shirt off his back to anyone that needed it. Aside from hunting and fishing, his favorite hobbies were hanging out with friends, playing soccer and going to camp to play cards with Pepe V.
He is survived by his parents, Thomas & Renee Pattee, his brother, Dylan Pattee and his best friend, CoJak Pattee all of Enosburg; paternal grandparents, Bill & Rachel Pattee of Enosburg; maternal grandmother, Charlene Boudreau of Poinciana, FL; aunt, Terri Deuso and her children, Brendan & Aleta and their father Keith Deuso all of Enosburg; uncle Kris Boudreau and his daughter, Elle Boudreau both of Port Orchard, WA; special friend, Tyler Elwood; his special uncles , Al Burnor and his wife Debbie, Jody Kane and his girlfriend, Christine Frost and Scott Howard and his wife Kelli and many great aunts & uncles. She was born September 1, 1939 in Alburgh to the late George & Louella (Bohannon) Martin.
Alfreda had a big heart. She was a caregiver in every sense of the word. She worked at the Giordano Manor for a few years and later cared for her siblings as they passed away. Her favorite hobby was playing the slot machines at the casino.
She is survived by her son, Steve Gagnon and his wife Karen of Swanton; daughter-in-law, Sue Rushford-Gagnon of Alburgh; grandchildren, Chas, Shawn, Travis & Myah Gagnon; 7 great grandchildren; her siblings, Charles, Marilyn & Dina and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, Alfreda was predeceased by her husband, Henry Gagnon; her children, George & Randy Gagnon and siblings, Alfred, Leonard, Edwin Sr., Audrey, Edna, Alma, Evelyn & Marie.
A graveside memorial service will be held this spring in Riverside Cemetery in Swanton.

BERKSHIRE - Mila Elizabeth Kane
....show passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
Mila passed away shortly after birth and she was the daughter of Benjamin & Courtney (Hale) Kane.
She is survived by her parents, Ben & Courtney Kane of Berkshire; grandparents, Timothy & Sandra Kane of Berkshire, Mark Hale and Teresa Hale both of East Fairfield; great grandparents, Norman & Margaret Kane of Sheldon and Loretta Jordan of Williston; aunts & uncles, Amy & Joshua Kreiger, Emily & Geoff Murray, Matthew & Morgan Hale, Jordan & Rebecca Hale and Kelly & Cole Johnson and her cousins, Aidan, Iverson, Sophia, Oliver, Delia, Alyssa, Cullen & Spencer. Mila was predeceased by her great grandparents, Richard Jordan, Spencer & Theresa Stanhope and Burton & Carolyn Hale.
A private funeral service will be held for Mila at Spears Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Enosburg.

SWANTON - John F. Tougas
....show , age 87, peacefully passed into the next life on Thursday, December 28, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Swanton.
He was born November 14, 1930 in Pike River, Quebec to the late Aristide & MaryAnne (Samson) Tougas.
John married Imelda (Rainville) Tougas on May 15, 1954. They owned and operated Johnnys Restaurant in Swanton for 35 years. John also worked at Fonda Container for 27 years. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and biking. His favorite hobbies included woodworking, visiting and playing cards with relatives and friends and taking care of his home. John also cherished the time he spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Imelda Millie Tougas of Swanton; their children, Susan Tougas of Charlotte, NC, Donald Tougas and his wife Nanette of Colchester, Richard Tougas and his wife Sarah of Enosburg and David Tougas and his wife Lorelei of Swanton; grandchildren, Leah & Billy Poggi, Matthew & Amber Nietupski, Andrew Nietupski, Justin Tougas, Adam Tougas & Jordan Lareau and Nathan & Denise Tougas; 6 great grandchildren; his brother, Clement Tougas of St. John, Quebec; 2 brothers-in-law, Jean-Guy Rainville and his wife Fernande of Fairfax and Gilles Rainville and his wife Claudette of Georgia; 3 sisters-in-law, Therese Paquette of Jericho, Lillian Rainville of St. Albans and Fernande Tougas of Swanton and several nieces & nephews.

ST. ALBANS - Delphia E. Goodhue
....show , age 59, passed away Monday, December 25, 2017 at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington.
She was born April 18, 1958 in Cowansville, Quebec, Canada to the late Donald & Ida Mae (Wright) Burnham.
Del worked for many years as a caregiver at Brownway Residence in Enosburg Falls and Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford. She loved taking care of the elderly. Del also worked at the Family Dollar and Switch Yard Mobil until she became disabled. Her favorite hobbies included bingo and coloring books.
She is survived by her children, Jennifer Loiselle and her husband Mike and their children, Hannah & Devin all of Enosburg, Tonya Goodhue and her children, Alyssa Sherman & Chad Cline all of Swanton, Heather Goodhue and her beloved cat, Chase of St. Albans and Ashley Goodhue and her children, Audree & Ariya Goodhue all of Swanton; her siblings, Lewis Burnham and his wife Debbie and Louise Benoit and her husband Claude and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, Delphia was predeceased by her sister, Diane Burnham and her nephew, Michael Hoague.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, December 31, 2017 starting at 1:30 PM at The Crossing, 14 Province St., Richford.

SHELDON - Philippe Louis Paradis
....show , age 80, passed away Monday, December 25, 2017 at the Maple Lane Nursing Home in Barton.
Phil was born May 1, 1937 in St. Isidore DAucrland, Quebec Canada the son of the late Achille & Ann Marie (Cyr) Paradis.
Phil was a self-employed farmer and carpenter all of his life. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and received his honorable discharge from the Vermont Army National Guard. Phil enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, golf, snowmobiling, pool and square dancing. Most of all he loved to tell stories of his younger days, spend time with friends and family, especially his grandsons, who will all remember him for his good sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lorraine (Parent) Paradis. Phil & Lorraine were married October 10, 1959. He is also survived by his children Louise Irons and her husband Clark of Richford, Michael Paradis and his sons Evan & Avery of Berkshire, Denis Paradis of Sheldon, and Lori Perley her husband Stephen and their sons, Nicholas and his fianc Chelsea Boylan and Matthew all of Enosburgh; his siblings, Wilfred Paradis and his wife Rejean, Denise Bessette and her husband Laurent, and Andre Paradis; his sisters & brothers-in-law, Rita Paradis, Marie Paule Bisson, Fernand & Jeanette St. Pierre, Maurice & Pierette Parent, and Fabien & Dawn Parent; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Phil was predeceased by his father & mother-in-law, Leo & Biola Parent; his son, Paul Paradis; his siblings, Jerry Paradis, Raymond Paradis his wife Amanda, Claire Paradis, Marguerite Sanshagrin and her husband Aime, Collette Paradis, Georges Emile Bisson, Laurent Bisson and his wife Annette, Henri-Paul Bisson and his wife Lucille, Lucienne Bisson, Melanie Poulin, Rose Aime Rouleau and Aurore Rouleau; and sister-in-law Alberta Paradis.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 222 Missisquoi Street, Enosburg Falls with Rev. Karl Hahr celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in the St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Enosburg Falls.
Visiting hours will be Thursday, December 28th from 4-7 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls

SWANTON - Bernard R. Thompson
....show , age 89, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
He was born December 11, 1928 in Alburgh to the late Thomas & Florence (Rouse) Thompson.
Bernard grew up in Alburgh. He served 27 1/2 years in the Vermont Army National Guard and 3 years active duty during the Korean war. He retired as an E-9, Master Sergeant. Bernard married the love of his life, Betty (Richard), on October 9, 1948. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for over 40 years, first at Swanton Lime Works and later for Charbonneaus. Bernards favorite hobby was Sulky Racing and they would travel to county fairs throughout Vermont and New York to participate. He also enjoyed hunting and fly fishing when he was younger.
He is survived by his children, Thomas Butch Thompson and his wife Laurie of Colchester, Judy King of Milton, Kathy Dumont and her significant other Dennis Feeley and Brian Thompson and his wife Cathy all of Swanton; his companion, Marion Wilcox of Swanton; grandchildren, Randy Martin, Thomas Martin, Jill Sweet and her husband Kurt Kangas, Chad Dumont, Russell Dumont and his fianc Morgan Barnum, Rachael LaGrand, Sara Vieta and her husband John, Amber Sullivan and her husband Shawn and Chantal Bockus and her husband Thomas, Shawn Thompson and his fianc Brooklyn Bushey; 18 great grandchildren; his brother, Steve Thompson of Isle LaMotte and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Bernard was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Betty Thompson; their son, Richard Thompson and sons-in-law, Ricky Dumont and Larry King.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Visitation will be held Wednesday at Kidder Memorial Home from 12:00 PM until the hour of the service.

RICHFORD " Mary Emily (Jacobs) McMurphy
....show , age 91, passed away peacefully at home in Richford on Friday, December 8, 2017, surrounded by family and friends.
Mary Emily is known to her family and friends as Emily. She was born in Waynesville, GA on March 21, 1926 to the late William Henderson Jacobs, Sr., and Marguerite Elizabeth Mattox Jacobs. Emily worked hard and helped raise her 6 younger sisters. She graduated from Nahunta High School a year early, in 1943. After high school, she moved to live with her aunt and uncle in Dothan, Alabama, where she worked in a hosiery factory and in retail for the local FJ Kress store. She was offered a position in a new store opening in Hawaii, but declined because it was too far from family.
While in Dothan, she met Allen McMurphy who was at the time in the Army Air Corps. When Allen was discharged, he went to his family home in New York, but returned to Dothan and Emily married him on Easter Sunday (April 21), 1946. Their son, Michael, was born in Dothan in 1947. In 1949, the family moved to Trout River, New York, where they lived for 2 years. Their daughter, Cheryl, was born on Michaels birthday in 1950. In 1951, they moved to Richford, Vermont, where Allen purchased a photography studio. Emily became deeply involved in the Richford Community and the First Baptist Church.
The McMurphy family lived a duplex on Intervale Avenue, with dear friends, the Gilpins, living next door. In 1954, Barry was born and became part of the McMurphy-Gilpin family. In 1959, the family moved to the current address on North Avenue, where Emily has lived ever since. In 1962, the family was completed with the birth of Kerri.
During her 66 years in Richford, Emily sewed gowns for weddings, dresses for proms, and clothing for all of her children. She supervised seamstresses at a clothing factory in Richford, and then in Enosburg. Emily loved quilting, cooking, making Grammy-jam, and gardening. There was always more than enough food for the family and anyone who showed up at the house, most of it from her own garden and canning. She made quilts for underprivileged families and church camp. Emily contributed many of her creations to church sales and silver teas. For a few years, she operated Towne House Gift Shop, selling for local artisans. Emily belonged to Eastern Star, and was a deacon, treasurer, and secretary at her church. She was active with Mothers Club at RHS, and played basketball with a group of mothers.
Emily nurtured her children and helped with their activities. She held 4H meetings at home, was a den mother for Cub Scouts, and helped Girl Scouts earn merit badges. One could go on and on with specifics about nurturing her children, but suffice to say she made sure they had happy childhoods and were equipped with the moral standards and work ethic to have good lives.
Emily loved her grandchildren deeply, and ensured they had many happy - and often productive - times with Grandma. They gardened with her, made jam with her, learned to cook from her, played games with her, made new friends introduced by her, went to church with her, and loved her. As one grandchild said, I will really miss Grandma. She was the quintessential grandmother. So much love all the time.
Emilys husband, Allen, died in 2015. She is survived by their children, Michael & his wife Maureen McMurphy of Potomac, MD; Cheryl & her husband Morris Buzz Joseph of Carmel, CA; Barry & his wife Christy McMurphy of Lawrence, KS; and Kerri Plante of Richford; grandchildren, Matthew & spouse Amanda McMurphy, Kevin & Spouse Amanda McMurphy, Heather and spouse Hans Kramer, Zach and spouse Ayala Joseph, Mead McMurphy and partner Nathan Schroeder, Nathan Jones-Walker, Jonathan Plante, Shawn Plante; Anthony, Myah, Savannah, Hailey and Payton Emily Plante; Emmett, Vivian, Daly, and Nora McMurphy; Zaia Kramer; Sami and Nora Joseph; and Ryne Schroeder; Sisters Ruth Reddish and Shirleen Thornton of Waynesville, GA; Brother William and Joy Jacobs of Monticello, GA; Brother-in-law James McMurphy and wife Barbara, of Wichita, KS; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, and great-grand-nieces and nephews. Emily was predeceased by her parents, brother Southwell, sisters Theresa, Agnes, Mercedes, and Shelba Jean, grandson Patrick McMurphy, and son-in-law Don Plante.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 12, at 11:00 am, preceded by a visiting hour at 10:00 am, at the First Baptist Church in Richford. The service will be followed by interment at Richford Center Cemetery. Following interment, there will be a reception (with light refreshments) in the churchs downstairs fellowship hall, to share love and memories.
