RICHFORD - Elizabeth Prue Howarth
....show , age 95, passed away on Tuesday evening June 27, 2017 at Our Lady of the Meadows Community Care Home in Richford.
Elizabeth was born July 12, 1921 at her parents home in Richford. She was the youngest daughter of James & Helen (Owen) Prue.
She attended school in Richford until the beginning of her sophomore year when she traveled to California with her parents to be with her brother Irving, who was an accomplished glider. Upon reaching California Liz enrolled in Glendale High School and graduated in 1939. She then attended Glendale Secretarial Prep School. During this time, she met and married Chester Warren Zebott, a Minnesota native. Warren was an attendee of Aero Industries Technical Institute, and later was hired by them to be an instructor. To further his education and job opportunities he moved to California. During this time Elizabeths parents returned to Vermont. In June of 1944 Warren became ill; he and Elizabeth went to Minnesota to be surrounded by his family where he passed away.
Elizabeth returned to Vermont and stayed with her parents until October of 1944. With an invitation from her brother and his wife Ruth, an old classmate and good friend of Elizabeth, she moved back to California to join them. She sought employments shortly after arriving and was hired by the Automobile Club of Southern California District Office in Glendale as a Secretary to the Claims Adjuster.
In 1945 Elizabeth was called to Vermont by her father to care for her mother dying of cancer. During this time, she met Robert James Howarth, and after her mothers death, they became married. The marriage lasted fifty-five years and three children; Dean, Judy & Stacy. Robert passed away in 2001.
Elizabeth enjoyed many activities during her lifetime including, golfing, gardening, knitting, tole painting, and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She leaves her family, which she loved dearly. Two daughters; Judith Judy Holden of Soap Lake, WA, and Stacy Wells and her husband Randall of Enosburgh, VT; Four grandchildren and four great grandchildren; James Howarth his wife Danielle and their son William of Enosburgh, VT, Ryan Wells his wife Jaimi and their children, Alexandra & Colton of East Fairfield, VT, Samuel Burroughs of Bellingham, WA, and Shila Sylvester her husband Bradley and their daughter Anaya of Highgate, VT. She also leaves a special nephew, Marty Prue his wife Sue and their family of Highland, TX.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her two-year-old brother, Milo in Kansas; her grandson, Dana Howarth; her sister, Mildred Douglas; her brother, Irving O. Prue; and her son Dean Michael Howarth on May 16, 2017.
A graveside service will be held Monday July 3, 2017 at 12:00 PM at the Richford Center Cemetery, South Richford Road, Richford VT with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. There will be no visiting hours.

ENOSBURG FALLS - Linda M. Green
....show , age 52, passed away Monday morning, June 26, 2017 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
She was born October 13, 1964 in St. Albans the daughter of Joyce (Perry) Green and the late Harold Green.
Linda was a lifelong resident of Enosburg Falls and a 1984 graduate of Enosburg Falls High School. Linda was a very active member of the Enosburg Falls United Methodist Church where she served as the service videographer and janitor for many years. Linda was employed at McDonalds for several years until her poor health no longer made her able to work. She was involved in community organizations including, Enosburg Falls Lions Club, the Enosburgh Town Band for which she played the flute, and the American Red Cross Disaster Services. Linda loved her cats especially Sassy.
She is survived by her mother, Joyce Green of Enosburg Falls; her sisters and their husbands, Kathy & Rev. Tim Stetson of Enosburg Falls, and Susie & Kermit Drown of Highgate; her nieces, nephews and their families, Heather & Nathan Grant and their soon to be expected baby Gwen who Linda was very excited to see, David & Christina Stetson and their son Conner, Stephanie & Tim Menard and their children, Buddy & Chance, and Daniel & Kristieanna Stetson and their children, Julieanna & Branden; many aunts, uncles & cousins.
A graveside service will be held Friday June 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the West Enosburgh Cemetery, Route 108, West, Enosburgh VT with Rev. Jon Bly officiating. There will be no visiting hours.

Paul Andrew Tremblay
....show , (also known to many as PT) passed away suddenly Friday, June 23, 2017 at the age of 83 at his home in Highgate Center, VT.
Born on April 29,1934, the son of the late William Tremblay and Eva (Duval) Tremblay. He attended Rock River School in Highgate,
Paul owned and operated the family dairy farm for many years with his wife Shirley Lapan Tremblay, who predeceased him and their son Stephen. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Louis Parish. Paul was the rock for his family and a friend to all who knew him.
Paul enjoyed playing pool , cards and reminiscing, country music jamboree, dancing and NASCAR including his favorite driver Carl Edwards.
He is survived by his brothers wife Armande (Laroche) Tremblay, his four children, daughter Ann and husband Marc Dandurand, son John and wife Lorri Tremblay, son David and wife Darleen Tremblay and Steven Tremblay.15 grandchildren,11 great grandchildren, and companion of 12 years Nancy Burns.
He was predeceased by his brother Pamphile Tremblay, his brother Hector Joseph Tremblay and his wife Bernadette (Rainville) Tremblay, his sister Jeannette Tarte and her husband Gerard Tarte also, his great granddaughter Adalyn Danni Scott.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. from Saint Louis Roman Catholic Church 186 Lamkin St., Highgate Center. Father Luke P. Austin will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Tremblay family lot in Saint Louis Cemetery.

Marie-Jeanne Gertrude Benoit
....show , age 90 years, died peacefully Thursday afternoon, June 22, 2017, at her home on Crowe Hill in Sheldon.
Born at home in Highgate by Morses Line on April 11, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Henri and Mae (Demers) Rainville. She attended schools in Highgate and Holy Angels Commercial School in St. Albans, followed by a noviciate in Clayton, NY in 1949 to become a catholic religious sister, from which she returned home for reasons of health. In a change of vocation, she was married on August 22, 1953, to Marcel Herman Benoit and became the devoted mother to their five children.
Prior to marriage, Marie-Jeanne worked for the C.P. Smith Company in Burlington, then after marriage for the George Yett Bag Factory in Swanton, until she started her family. In 1957, Marcel and Marie-Jeanne made a leap of faith to purchase the old Robert Crowe farm in Sheldon, where they worked side-by-side to make it a success. She contributed her labor, bookkeeping skills, and considerable talents as gardener, cook and baker. Besides caring for a growing family, she served her church as a religious education teacher and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne of St. Anthony Church in Sheldon Springs.
She was predeceased by her husband Marcel and leaves their five children, Gilbert (Lindsay) Highgate Springs, Lucie Holcomb of S. Burlington, Conrad (Suzette) of Sheldon, Leon (Linda) of Sheldon and Julian (Dawnna) stationed with the U.S. Army at Fort Carson, Colorado.
Marie-Jeanne leaves her brother Joachim and wife Lorraine of Highgate, sister Theresa Begnoche and husband Marcel of Highgate, sisters in-law Monique Rainville of Franklin, Georgette Benoit of Ste. Armand, PQ, Therese Potvin of Farnham, PQ, Lucille Benoit of Bedford, PQ, Francoise Benoit of Ste. Jean, PQ, and Francoise Benoit of Mont Ste. Hillaire, PQ, and also her brothers-in-law Andre Laroche of St. Albans, Jacques Benoit of Ste. Jean, PQ, and Richard Benoit of Mont Ste. Hillaire, PQ. Also, she leaves 14 grandchildren,10 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Marie-Jeanne is also predeceased by brothers Norbert and Lucien, sisters Cecile Bouchard, Bernadette Tremblay, and Mae Anne Laroche, sisters-in-law Madeleine Rainville and Denise Benoit, and brothers-in-law Paul Bouchard, Hector Tremblay, Clement Benoit, Alfred Benoit, Rodrigue Benoit, and Romuald Potvin.
Marie-Jeannes family wishes to give special thanks to her caregivers Elaine Reed, MarieAnne West, Michele and Donna Jutras, Lori Derry, Angela St. Pierre, and Ashley Rooney, as well as to all the wonderful hospice ladies who were so helpful.

Anna May (Goodrich) Olmstead
....show , age 89 years, died Monday afternoon in the Franklin County Rehab Center.
Born in Shelburne, Vermont on, February 28, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Gaylord Augusta and Marie Louise Bissonette Goodrich. On February 14, 1950, she was married to Eugene Graydon Olmstead who predeceased her in 1998.
A Registered Nurse, Anna May worked in all aspects of administrative nursing at the Northwestern Medical Center for 50 years.
Anna May is survived by her two sons, Richard G. and his wife Debbie, Michael J. Sr and his wife Linda; her brother, Arthur and wife Eleanor and sister-in-law Shirley: grandchildren, Jonathan and Stephanie, Jessica Rogers and Steve, Michael J. Jr and Lindsey, Nicholas and Nicole; great grandchildren, Cate, Genevive, Rowen, Riley and Piper several nieces, nephews and beloved lifetime friends Kathleen Riley, Jeanne Begnoche and Betty and Fred Anderson
In addition to her parents and husband, Anna May was predeceased by five brothers and one sister.

Bruce Wayne Morgan, Sr.
....show , age 72 years, died Sunday evening, July 23, 2017, at his Route 2 residence.
Born in St. Albans on, May 27, 1945, he was the son of the late Donald and Barbara (Minkler) Morgan. He attended schools in Highgate and was married on, February 2, 1964, to the former Beth Ann Cook who survives him.
He was employed for 19 years with Auto Town USA. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling and camping especially at the Lazy Days Campground in Mooers Forks, NY.
Besides his wife Beth Ann of Alburgh, Bruce leaves two daughters, Wendy Marie Katon and husband Roy of Alburgh and Barbara Lynch and husband Todd of North Hero.; two brothers, James Morgan of Swanton and Eddy Morgan and wife Debbie of Enosburgh; two sisters, Nora Unwin of Swanton and Ramona Cline and husband Spencer of Swanton; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents Bruce was predeceased by two sons, Bruce and Walter Morgan; a brother, Donald Morgan, a sister, Joyce Durenleau; sister-in-law Wendy Morgan and brothers-in-law, Robert Durenleau and Eugene Unwin.
At Bruces request there will be no public calling hours. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Helen M. Kelly
....show , 94, long time Swanton Road resident passed away in Ft Smith, Arkansas on July 23, 2017.
Helen was born in Highgate, VT on February 4, 1923, the first child of the late William J Machia, Jr and Ruth (Bovat) Machia.
Helen's first job, after leaving home was at the Blue Haven Grill in Windsor, VT. Here she met James E Kelly, Jr, before he joined the Army Air Corp in 1942. Helen moved to New Haven, CT where she worked on the dashes of the North American P-51 Mustangs. Helen married James in Ft Myers, FL in 1944, then returned to her work as a Rosie Riveter.
Helen was a homemaker, who cared for her family, while planting and growing incredible gardens. Her vegetables received recognition in the area with annual return customers coming to purchase them, especially her delicious tomatoes. Helen also, had her pretty rock gardens with perennial flowers and window boxes filled with wax begonias, on the home that she and Jim built, starting in 1957. In later years, she loved feeding the birds, getting upset when the squirrels stole from her feeders. Helen stood at her kitchen window many hours watching the humming birds come to their feeder. She would even name some of these little friends.
Helen leaves a son, James E Kelly, III and Pamela of Ft Smith, AR. and three daughters, Linda Cota and Ken of Richmond Hill, GA., Carol Soule and Bob Longworth of Hartford, AR. and Patricia Jolie and Bob of Savannah, GA., nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Helen also leaves a brother, William J Machia, Jr (Charlene) and two sisters, Jean Durkee and Shirley Tompkins. Helen was predeceased by a brother, Ephriam Machia and three sisters Janet Machia, Barbara Price and Charlotte Lothian, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Helen had a constant companion, Maddie during the last weeks of her life.
Funeral service will be at 11:00am on Saturday, September 9, 2017.

ENOSBURG FALLS, VT - Patricia Dryden
....show , age 62, a beloved Mother, passed away peacefully on Saturday the 22nd of July in Enosburg Falls, VT.
She was born in Sacramento, CA on the 7th of May 1955, to Ellen (Wilkey) Dryden and the late Pat Dryden.
Patricia loved to make people laugh and her outlook on life was a picture of pure bliss. She was a proud homemaker and cook. The smell of her bread, topped with the savory tastes of love, will surely be missed. Patricia longed to come home to California. She will forever be missed, for she is loved by kisses above.
She is survived by her two children, Paul Andrews and Tara Dryden; her mother, Ellen Dryden; two loving sisters, Ellen Smith and Marion Austin and many friends and family. Besides her father, Patricia was predeceased by her sister, Carolyn Dryden.
In keeping with her wishes, Patricia will return to California and her family will plan a memorial service at a later date.

....show , age 102, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Our Lady of the Meadows Community Care Home in Richford with her family at her side.
She was born December 8, 1914 in Troy, VT the daughter of the late Earl & Nellie (Brock) Reed.
Helen was a longtime resident of Enosburg Falls residing here since 1944. She and her husband Burton, owned Kennedys Ice Cream Bar for 13 years after which she was employed at the local pharmacy for 14 years. She enjoyed meeting and interacting with the public. Her favorite pastimes where playing cards, knitting & crocheting.
She is survived by her sons and their wives, Richard & Pauline Coe of Sheldon & Gerald & Virginia Coe of Essex Jct.; her daughter-in-law, Marcelene Coe-Spaulding and her husband, Stanley; She also leaves many grand, great grand and great great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Burton Coe; her son, Phillip Coe; her daughter, Susan Ploof; her grandson, Thomas Coe; her sisters, Fannie Simpson, Ruth Garfield, Gertrude Armstrong & June Charron; and her brothers, Wayne Reed & Arnold Reed. She had many endearing friends and associates during her lifetime, she and Geraldine DAgistino were especially close.
In accordance with her wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Hillside Cemetery in West Burke, VT.

RICHFORD - Douglas R. Jewett
....show , age 89, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 15, 2017 with his loving family at his side.
He was born February 4, 1928 in St. Albans the son of the late Harold & Ruth (Wetherby) Jewett.
Doug was a lifelong resident of Richford. In his younger years, he worked on several farms in the area and then worked at Blue Seal Feeds for 39 years retiring in 1990. Following his retirement, he sold vegetables & berries for many years through a door to door service with his granddaughter, Mindy. He loved hunting, especially Deer hunting (harvesting 13 deer) and Rabbit hunting with Beagles. He enjoyed going for his daily rides every afternoon, watching UCONN Basketball on TV and operating his CB (his handle was Grey Wolf). He journaled everyday writing the days events in numerous notebooks. Most important to Doug was that he was proud of and loved his children, grandchildren & great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Irene (Peters) Jewett of Richford; his children and their spouses, Gary Jewett of Berkshire, Daniel & Jean Jewett of Enosburg Falls, Susan & Cleo Alexander, Randy & Sheryl Jewett and Jeffrey Jewett all of Richford; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a sister, Avis & Leonard Pelletier of So. Windsor, CT; a foster brother, Lawrence Sheldon of Graceville, FL.; several nieces, nephews & cousins. Besides his parents, Doug was predeceased by 2 grandchildren, Justin & Jessica Jewett.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. Interment will follow in the Hill West Cemetery in Montgomery.
Visiting hours will be held at the Spears Funeral Home Wednesday from 12:00PM until the hour of the funeral.

Michael Davis Maskell
....show , age 61 years, a lifelong area resident died suddenly Saturday, July 15, 2017, at his Carter Hill residence.
Born in St. Albans on, July 28, 1955, he was the son of the late Frederick and Barbara (Curtis) Maskell. He was a 1973 graduate of Missisquoi Valley Union High School and furthered his education at the Community College of Vermont. On, August 23, 1980, he was married to the former Marie Gagne who survives him.
He had been employed for several years with the Mylan Technologies, Inc..
Mike faithfully served his country as a Captain in the Vermont Army National Guard and also served as treasurer for the American Legion Riders.
Mike enjoyed motorcycle riding with Marie, spending time with his children and grandchildren and was especially well known for playing Santa Clause throughout the area at Christmas time. He held a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and volunteered for Relay for Life.
In addition to his wife Marie, Mike leaves two sons, Ryan Maskell and his wife Ashley and Dan Tremblay and his wife Angie all of Swanton; two daughters, Heather Maskell and fianc David Graves II of Swanton and Samantha Maskell of Highgate Springs; two sisters, Cheryl Fregeau and husband Richard and Carol Berthiaume and partner Richard Conley all of Highgate Springs; grandchildren, Raven Graves, Aiden Bessette, Jasper Graves, Adasyn Maskell, Raelyn Maskell and Angel Tremblay; One great grandson, Cayson Tremblay as well as many nieces nephews, cousins and good friends including longtime family friends, Ron and Cheryl Rogers and family.
A Funeral Service with military honors will be held Monday, July 24, 2017, at 2 p.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave, Swanton. The Reverend Anne Torrance Bachmann will officiate.

FRANKLIN " Patricia A. Mason
....show , 52 of Franklin, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, July 13, 2017.
Patricia was born on Aug. 17, 1964 in St. Albans, Vt., daughter of the late Richard Patterson and Pauline (Wright) Patterson. She graduated from Enosburg Falls High School in 1982. In 1987, she began working at Boise Cascade (now West Rock) in Sheldon Springs and this year celebrated her 30th anniversary with the company. On July 4, 2015, she married Paul Mason in a ceremony attended by family and close friends.
Patricia was an avid reader " newspapers, books, magazines " whatever she could put her hands on. When her son Anthony, who studied journalism at UNH, came home on school vacation, shed buy two local newspapers and together theyd proof the papers to see if either could spot an error. She also loved NASCAR and would go to the races in Loudon, N.H. every year with her husband, Paul. She also liked to attend baseball games with her children and husband whether it was the Lake Monsters or Boston Red Sox. She had an incredible memory; birthdays, anniversaries, she never forgot a single occasion. She loved to cook and especially loved to bake beans using her brothers syrup. Tricia loved children of all ages.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Paul; three sons, Adam, Anthony and Timothy and his wife Hillary and their children, Aiden, Lamaya and Eyden; her brother Tom and his wife Jeri and their three children, Erika, Kelli and Carson; her sister Pam and her husband Howard and their two sons Bill and his wife Amber and their children Blake and Kelby and Alex and his wife Heather and their daughter Emma; her mother Polly Gadbois and her husband Dick; her uncle Roger; her Great Aunt Gloria Hoben; her mother-in-law Huguette Mason; brother-in-law Richard and his wife Cindy; sister-in-law Sue and her husband Darrell Ewert; and her husbands uncle Mike and aunt Cindy, which she enjoyed to visit very much, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Patricia is also survived by many good friends with whom she worked at West Rock.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 16th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg.

ST. ALBANS - Robert Bob Lowe
....show , age 90, recently of St. Albans, VT, passed away on July 12, 2017 after a brief illness. Bob was born in West Englewood, NJ and at the age of 5 moved with his family to New Hartford, CT. Bob attended schools in the New Hartford area and graduated from the Gilbert School in 1945. After working for several years at the Underwood Typewriter Company and attending the Hartford Technical School, he entered the US Army to proudly serve in Korea, reaching the rank of corporal upon separation in 1953.
Until 2015, Bob lived in Winsted, CT. He was a devoted family man who took on the duties of care for his ageing parents and wife, Norma Johnson Lowe, who died in 1974. He spent his entire career in the field of printing, and worked as a journeyman pressman for more than forty years. Bob was a lifetime member of his local VFW and American Legion posts. An avid fisherman, he rarely missed opening day and added occasional deep-sea fishing to his hobbies later in life. Bob, with his dear friend, Beatrice, greatly enjoyed travel by car. The two of them toured much of the northeast and eastern Canada. In 1992, Bob and Beatrice took the trip of lifetime, driving cross continent, on the ALCAN Highway, and through the Yukon to coastal Alaska, where they spent time with family, camping and touring Denali National Park and fishing on the Kenai Peninsula.
Bob was an old-fashioned gentleman, a good citizen, and a man of strong and clear ethical values and a subtle sense of humor. He believed strongly in the importance of education and saw to it that his daughter had access to college and beyond as his responsibility as a parent. He leaves this world owing no one and having given his best to all those around him.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Deborah, and son-in-law CJ Murray; his grandchildren, Kristie (Murray) and husband, Dan Adams of Pittsford, VT, and Jon Murray and his wife, Julie, of Pelham, NY. Bob also loved and took keen interest in his three great grandchildren, Kelsey Adams and Eli and Lucas Murray. As well, Bob leaves a cherished nephew Richard Lowe, of Federal Way, Washington and three nieces, Catherine and Susan Lowe, and Helene Beatty. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Norma, and his brother, Otto Bill Lowe of Eagle River, Alaska.
There will be a private service for family and friends in Winsted, CT held at the familys discretion. ....show , age 71 years, a lifelong area resident died Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford.
Born in Highgate Springs on, June 5, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Loretta (Stearns) Vanslette. She attended the former Highgate High School and was married to Joseph W. Letourneau who predeceased her in 2004.
She worked many years and retired from Eveready Battery in St. Albans and later worked in admissions for the Northwestern Medical Center. She was a real animal lover and was known to feed many of the stray cats in the area and beyond. She loved flowers and gardening and the many trips to the casino. Theresa was also a volunteer for Missisquoi Valley Rescue.
Theresa leaves two sons, William of Highgate Center and Christopher and his wife Cheryl of Georgia; a daughter, Angela McMillan and husband Bronson of Vero Beach, FL; a sister and brother-in-law, Freda and Terry Rand of St. Albans Bay; grandchildren, Andrew, Jessica, Kyle, Hannah, Trevor, Brianna, Michael and Megan; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Theresa was predeceased by her brothers, Alan Vanslette, Carlton Vanslette, and Frederick Vanslette, Jr. and sisters, Maxine Reynolds and Shirley Gaudette.
At Theresas request funeral services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

RICHFORD - John Chalifoux
....show , age 74, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
He was born on November 2, 1942 in Abercorn, Quebec to the late Andre & Celina (Couture) Chalifoux.
John grew up in Franklin and graduated from Franklin High School. After high school, he worked at a few local farms and later joined the Army National Guard. John worked as a truck driver for most of his life. He hauled for McDermotts Trucking and later started his own business called John Chalifoux Trucking. While hauling milk down to Boston he met the love of his life, Sue Klatka. Sue worked at the toll booth that John would frequently drive through and he asked her out on a date. On the third date John knew Sue was his soulmate and he asked her to marry him. John and Sue were married on October 15, 1977. In 1985 John retired from the National Guard as a Sgt. 1st Class after 21 years of service. He retired from truck driving in 2011.
After retirement John and Sue enjoyed traveling the country together, their favorite place was Hawaii. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, working on home projects and gardening. John looked forward to his morning walks, especially with his sister Claire. He was a long-time member of the Richford American Legion Post #12 and the Knights of Columbus. John was proud to be a 4th degree Knight and he was chosen for Vermont Knight of the year in 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Chalifoux of Richford; their sons, Stephen Chalifoux and his wife Jennifer L. of St. Albans and Jonathan Chalifoux and his wife Jennifer R. of Bakersfield; 2 grandchildren, Alexa and Brayden; siblings, Claire Fay and her significant other Charlie Hotchkin of Richford, Cecile Fuller and her husband Leonard of North Ft. Myers, FL, Robert Chalifoux and his wife Carol of Vergennes, Real Chalifoux and his wife Darlene of Richford and Richard Chalifoux of Enosburg Falls; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Klatka and his wife Susan of Springfield, MA and several nieces & nephews. John was predeceased by his parents, Andre & Celina Chalifoux.
Visitation will be Friday, August 18, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

....show , age 81 years, a lifelong Swanton resident passed away peacefully, Monday, August 14, 2017, at The Pines Rehabilitation Center in Lyndonville.
Bob was born in Swanton on, May 9, 1936. He was the son of the late William and Catherine (Farnsworth) Lucier. On March 2, 1957, Bob married Gale Cook who survives him. Bob and Gale celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this year with close friends and family.
Dad was a man who loved the outdoors with his hunting, fishing, working in the yard or just sitting outside talking with his friends and neighbors. Bob and Gale spent a lot of time sitting outside together.
Bob is survived by his wife and soulmate, Gale Lucier and their two children; daughter, Tammy Pare and husband Kevin and son Michael; he was a proud Papa to grandsons, Matthew Pare and wife Vicki and Joseph Pare and partner, Jason Fleming; two sisters, Doris Hubbard and husband Frank of Swanton, and Joan Taylor of Winooski as well as several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, James and Thomas Lucier.
Papas greatest joy was spending time with his family.

A native of Michigan, Jim has lived in this area for the past 28 years. On April 20, 1990, he was married to Joyce Clark.

He attended schools in Michigan and faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force. He was predeceased in death by his daughter Karen and her husband Rick Campbell.

Born in St. Albans on, May 30, 1960, he was the son of the late Gilles and Angele (Letourneau) Fortin. He graduated from Missisquoi Valley Union High School and attended the University of Vermont.
He was proud to serve his country in the United States Navy from 1982 until 1989 aboard the submarine USS Norfolk. Gilbert was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Charles DaPrato Post 778 in Swanton and the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1 of St. Albans.
As a master electrician Gilbert was employed several years with Wyeth Nutritionals, Hallam Associates, IBM and the Raytheon Corporation. During his time with Raytheon he served a 6 month tour managing their facilities in Antarctica. Most recently and at the time of his death he was employed by the University of Vermont Medical Center.
He leaves his step-mother, Jeannine Fortin of Highgate Springs; six siblings, Susan Fortin of Colchester, Daniel and his wife Karen of Highgate Springs, Richard and wife Carol of Highgate Springs, Guy and wife Tammy of Richmond, Rhode Island, Robert and wife BeeGee of Highgate Springs and Allen and his wife Karen of Highgate Center as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew and cousins.

Born in Swanton on, September 8, 1937, he was the son of the late Henry and Laura (Morits) Porter. He attended Swanton schools and on, December 31, 1966, was married to the former Pauline St. Francis who survives him.
Don was employed for many years in the construction field which included Denning and Tom Mackin Construction. He will especially be remembered as the owner and operator of Porters Bike Shop located on Grand Avenue in Swanton Village. He served as a Cub Scout leader and was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose # 1090 in St. Albans. He enjoyed fishing, Flea Markets, repairing bicycles and attending the Alburgh Auction every Saturday night. He also was a member of The Abenaki Nation of Missisquoi.
In addition to his wife Pauline, of over 50 years, Donald leaves two sons, Harold Porter Jr., and Jimmy Porter and his wife Gisele; two daughters, Bonnie and husband Jack Freeman and Theresa Menard; brothers, Henry, Homer and John Porter; his sisters, Marian Dumont, Hazel Boudreau and husband Joseph, Helen Round, Ruth Frechette and Richard Catella, Annabelle Kleinfeldt and Doris Porter; grandchildren, Jack Jr., and Jason Freeman; Harry and Zakary Porter,; Nicole Mayo,; Kristen, Katie and Allison Poulin; and Matthew and Amanda Porter; great grandchildren, Alanna, Hailey, Abbey, Alyvia and, Evalynn Freeman; Jordan and Italiya Mayo as well as many nieces and nephews. He also leaves very close friends, Gary and Sookie St. Francis, Elaine Therrien and Alan and Al.

She was born March 27, 1970 in Chelsea, MA.
Laura grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Algonquin High School also in Massachusetts. She has spent time living in California, New Hampshire and Florida. Laura struggled with addiction for most of her adult life, she is finally at peace.
She is survived by her husband, Jay Wallace of Florida; 2 children, Christopher & Shawna Winczewski of Massachusetts; her mother, June (Holmes) Mossey and her sister, Brenda Mossey both of Richford, VT. Laura was predeceased by her step-father, James Mossey.

She received her masters degree from the UVM in physical therapy. She was presently working as a physical therapist at the Stamford Hospital.
Lynn is survived by her mother, Jeannine Poirier of Highgate Center; two brothers, Clifford Poirier and wife Amy of Highgate Center and Guy Poirier of Victor, Idaho; two sisters, Jessica Maldonado and husband Abdiel of Los Lunas, New Mexico and Roseanne Bardsley and husband David of Malta, New York.
She was predeceased by her father, Paul Poirier in 2017 and a nephew C.J. in 1989.

Randy was born in North Hero, VT on November 16, 1959, the son of Patrick Collins and Brenda Gillin.
He loved his family and was full of life. He loved and was loved by everyone that he met. Randy and his wife, Joan were inseparable. They enjoyed being on the boat and found peace together on the water. Randy also enjoyed his Harley and his 69 Camaro. He was known to his grandchildren as Poppy. They very much enjoyed their adventures with him whenever they came to visit. Randy was currently employed at and managed the Green Mountain Dairy where he considered the Rowells and all of the employees his family.
Randy is survived by his wife and soulmate, Joan, his mother, Brenda Plattner, his daughters, Michelle Marshall, Melissa Stone and her husband Tech Sargent James Stone of the US Air Force, and Tessa Collins; grandchildren Mahaila, Havyn, and Peyton. He is also survived by his sisters Paula and her husband, Charles Wakefield and Pam and her husband Chris Hansen, nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was predeceased by his father, Patrick Collins and infant sister, Kimberly Collins.

Edward Henry Ski Fiarkoski, Jr.
....show passed away peacefully at the McClure Miller VNA Respite House in Colchester on July 25, 2017.
He was born on August 30, 1936 in Northfield, VT to Edward Fiarkoski, Sr. and Edna (Rushlow) Fiarkoski. He married Joan Davis in Barre, Vermont in May 1990.
He was a graduate of Northfield High School class of 1955. Edward later enlisted in USA Airforce and retired as a Command Sargent Major in October 1981 with 27 years of honorable service. For his outstanding leadership, he received many decorations, medals, and citations from the Air Force.
After retiring from the Air Force, Ed was employed as a supervisor at Bombardier Cooperation in Barre, Vermont, retiring in 2001.
He and Joan lived in Alburgh, Vermont and wintered in Florida.
During his life, Ed enjoyed his Alburgh Lake Shore home, bowling, snow machining, hunting and spending time with his dog Mr. Bubie .
Ed is loved and mourned by his wife Joan and her family. He also leaves his brother John and his wife Marietta of Rockport, TX. Brother Joseph and his wife Carol, of Barre, VT and his sister Lena Mueller and her husband Bill of Citrus Heights, CA. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and friends from different areas of the states as well as overseas. He was predeceased by an adopted son Andy.
As requested by Ed, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 1 at 1:30 at The New Mount Calvary Cemetery 76 Plattsburg Avenue in Burlingtons new North End.

Born in New Britain, Connecticut on, August 24, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Perley Theodore and Judith Ellen (Larson) Stitham. She graduated from New Britain High School and was married to Norman C. Koss, Jr. who predeceased her on July 4, 1992.
Joyce will especially be remembered as owning and operating Carsons Market in Isle La Motte for many years. She was a member of the Franklin County Quilt Guild, the Alburgh American Legion Creller-Landon Post # 60 Auxiliary and for 25 years a member of the Morrisville VFW Post # 9653 Auxiliary.
Survivors include her son John Koss and his wife Candice of Sarasota, Florida; two daughters, Elaine Petegrow and husband Robert and Cynthia Bennett and husband Roger all of Isle La Motte; a brother Norman Stitham and wife Marilyn of Connecticut two sister-in-law, Lillian Stitham of Connecticut and Ida Mae Stitham of New York. She also leaves grandchildren, Michael Bennett, Kyle Koss and Casandra Koss and great grandchildren, Isabel Bennett, Aubrey Bennett and Oliver Koss as well as several nieces and nephews.

....show , age 40, a resident of Isle LaMotte, Vermont, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the UVM Medical Center with his wife and family lovingly by his side.
Born in Fort Walton Beach, FL on August 5, 1977, he was the son of Timothy & Lola (Bergeron) Brisson, of South Hero, VT. Jason attended South Burlington High School and played on the football team. Jason graduated from Johnson State College in 2000, majoring in Environmental Studies.
Left to cherish in his memory is his beloved wife Ashley (St. Lawrence), whom he married on June 30, 2007. Besides his parents and wife, Jason also leaves behind his grandfather, Leonard Brisson; his sisters: Jennifer & Robert McAllister and their children Ryan, Leigha, Cassidy, and RJ; and Jessica & Jamie Mcallister and their child Connor; all of South Hero as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, & friends.
Jason was employed with Mammut Sports Group in Williston, in his youth he worked as a Camp Counselor at Hochelaga & Abenaki, and as a Park Naturalist for Vermont State Parks.
Always an outdoorsman; his passions were hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, foraging, exploring, and spending lots of time with those he loved; especially his nephews and nieces. Jason had fond memories of his Boy Scout days with childhood friends. He hiked a portion of the Long Trail in college which cemented his love of the mountains. Jason always had a bright smile on his face. His knowledge of nature was expansive and friends sought him out for answers.
Special thanks to the medical teams at University of Vermont Medical Center & Tufts Medical Center of Boston. Kudos to nurses and staff who made his journey comfortable & dignified.

Born in Underhill on, April 10, 1932, he was the son of the late Alfred Hiram and Phillis Sadie (Amoor) Lacasse. He attended schools in Milton and on, February 12, 1956, was married to the former Clarabelle Lafountaine who predeceased him on, April 22, 2013.
A lifetime farmer Winston loved maple sugaring, vegetable gardening and haying.
He is survived by three sons, Winston Lacasse Jr. of St. Albans, Richard Lacasse and wife Lisa of Alburgh and John Lacasse and his wife Carrie of Fairfax; two daughters, Phyllis Charbonneau and husband Joseph of Berkshire and Theresa Lucy St. Pierre and husband Timothy of Peru, NY; one brother, Erwin Lacasse and wife Marilyn of Massachusetts; a sister, Jeannette Spence of Williston; sister-in-law Linda Demar and her husband David of Milton; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Dan was awarded a Purple Heart having been shot and seriously injured during combat.
Dan returned to Morrisville, PA and married Elizabeth Betty Lukens in 1946. Together they raised three children, who survive him; Cindy Bacigalupo (Randy Hickin) of Dummerston, VT, David Sines (Julie McCarthy Sines) of Bellows Falls, VT, and Marylouise Peters (Scott Robtoy) of Isle LaMotte, VT.
Dan was an electrician for Forrestal Research Center in Princeton, NJ and General Electric in Trenton, NJ. Dan and Betty retired to Isle LaMotte, VT in 1985. Betty predeceased him in 1999 shortly after their 53rd wedding anniversary.
In 2002, Dan met and married Annie Bradley of Alburgh, VT, who survives. Dan and Annie traveled extensively during their 15 years together, visiting many locations including Italy, Hawaii, a scenic train excursion through the Canadian Rockies, and a Mississippi River cruise.
Dan is also survived by his grandchildren, Amy Bagetis (Keith), Libby Beecher (Steve), Danny Bacigalupo (Katlyn), Christopher Sines, Jonathan Sines (Caitlin) and Sarah Peters and her boyfriend Matthew, and Dans sister-in-law, Suzanne (Lukens) Woodcock of Brattleboro, VT. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, along with Annies 6 children, Doug (Judy), Bill (Carol), Chuck (Linda), Linda (Russel), Sherry, and Jeff, and their families, and many nieces and nephews.
Dan was predeceased by his parents, his four brothers, George, Ernest, Richard and Robert Sines, and two sons-in-law, Fred Bacigalupo and Mark Peters.
Dan was a member of the Purple Heart Foundation, American Legion, Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge # 81 in Isle La Motte, and the Methodist Church of Isle La Motte, where he and Annie sang in the choir. Dan touched the hearts of everyone he met with his kindness and generosity. He was always smiling, laughing, joking, singing or whistling a tune. He had a great sense of humor that never left him. In his retirement, Dan enjoyed fishing, golfing, and spending time with family and friends. In 2016, he was chosen to participate in the Honor Flight program, as a WW II Veteran, traveling to Washington, DC, and touring many memorials.

Derby Line/Richford- Joseph Remi Whitey Larose
....show , age 77, husband of the late Marie (Ray) Larose, passed away on Sunday August 20, 2017 at the VA Hospital in White River Junction. Remi was born on March 28, 1940, in Sheldon, the son of the late Arsene & Evelyn (Smith) Larose.
Remi attended both Sacred Heart and Richford High School. During his junior year, he left school and enlisted in the United States Navy. Remi was able to attain his GED and complete an Associates Degree while in the military. He served four years in the Navy and was stationed on the USS Boston. During this service time, he was involved in the Bay of Pigs conflict. Remi completed a four-year tour in the Navy but later re-entered the military joining the U.S Army. The Army duty lasted until his retirement in 1980; Remi retired from the Army as a Sergeant First Class. During his Army tour, Remi was stationed in the Republic of Vietnam in 1965 and 1967. The 1967 Vietnam deployment was additionally difficult as it was two weeks after the birth of his daughter Nicole.
While serving as a sailor in the U.S. Navy, Remi met Marie; their first date was on May 10, 1960. They were married on August 30, 1960 at Saint James Church in Haverhill, MA with a honeymoon in Richford, VT. Remi and Marie traveled around the world while he was in the Army. They lived in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Hawaii, Okinawa, and Germany. Upon Remi's retirement, they established their home in Richford, VT where they lived until re-locating to Derby Line, VT. After Maries death, Remi returned once again to Richford, VT. During this time he built a strong, loving partnership with Laura Ovitt. They both had experienced loss, and so they took good care of each other.
Following his military service, Remi worked for, and then retired from, the US Postal Service as a rural route carrier. During this second retirement, Remi was elected to the Vermont State House of Representatives. He proudly served on behalf of the citizens of Franklin County. Additionally he was proud that he could serve as a positive role model and show people that even a person who dropped out of high school could attain his goals with hard work and determination.
While all of these accomplishments were important, nothing was more important to Remi than being a husband, partner, dad, grampy, brother, uncle and friend. It was easy to identify when someone became associated with him. He was unique in having three names. Remi was his given name and used primarily by family. A towhead as a youth, Whitey was a nickname used by many friends. At 17, when entering the military, he found out his legal name was Joseph. This was supposed to be his Catholic Saint name but had been entered as the given name on his birth certificate.
Remi is survived by his partner Laura Ovitt; his son, Joseph Larose and wife Lisa of St Albans, and their children Lisbeth, John, Noah and Kambree; his daughter Nicole Corbett and husband Brett of Derby, and their daughter Meghan; his brothers Henry Larose and his wife Velma of Leominster, MA and Rosaire Larose and his wife Sharon of Enosburg, VT; his sister, Anita Mayhew of Richford; his brother-in-law, John Ray and his wife Sharon of Rochester, NH, his sisters-in-law, Rita Larose of Richford, Beverly Leveille of Haverhill, MA and Brenda Ray of Amesbury, MA; and many, many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brothers Albert, Arthur, and Ernest Larose; his sisters-in-law Patricia, Phyllis Ray and Irene Larose; and his brothers-in-law Alfred Leveille, Gordon Mayhew, and Richard Ray.
Joes family would like to thank the staff from the VA Hospital for their care during this illness, and the respect and honor they showed following the passing of this veteran.

Monique Denise Gagne
....show , age 75 years, died peacefully Saturday, August 19, 2017, in the Northwestern Medical Center with loving family at her side.
Born in Claremont, NH on, April 26, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Eliodor and Cecile (Duteau) Gagne. She graduated from the former St. Annes Academy and worked several years in area nursing homes. While caring for her mother, Monique worked from her home sewing and assembling teddy bears for the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory.
She was extremely devoted to her Roman Catholic faith and was very active at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary -St Louis Parish. She attended daily Mass, participated many years in the parish music ministry program, was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and was faithful in attending the weekly Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Monique was also a longtime member of the Vermont Right to Life. In earlier years she lived as a member of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate Congregation located at Cap-de-le-Madeleine, Quebec.
Monique leaves her brother, The Reverend Mr. Gabriel Gagne and his wife Anna; nieces, Havaleh, Rachael and Marie and nephew and Godson, Justin and their families as well many cousins in the United States and Canada.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, August 26, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St. Swanton. Father James E. Zuccaro will be the celebrant and her brother, The Reverend Mr. Gabriel Gagne the homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in St. Marys Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Born in St. Albans on, August 24, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Mildred (Greene) Deso. She attended St. Albans schools and was married to William L. Thompson, Sr., who survives her.
In addition to her responsibilities as the devoted wife and mother of a large family, she will be remembered as an avid Boston Red Sox fan and Bingo and card player. She was a parishioner of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary-St. Louis Parish.
Besides her husband Bill of 72 years, Lorraine leaves her sons, Richard Dick (Sandra), James Sam (MaryAnn), David Tup (Celine), Gary Gub (Arlene) and William Jr. Turk (Claire); two daughters, Ruth Ruthie Laroche and Sandra Sandy Giroux (Warren); two sisters, Arlene Colon and Ramona Dubie; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Thompson; a sister-in-law, Anna White; 21 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, Leon and Mildred Deso; a son, Steven; a grandson, Eric Thompson; a son-in-law, Allan Laroche; a brother, Leon James, Jr. and two sisters, Doris Sornberger and Pauline Robtoy.

....show , age 92, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford.
She was born April 1, 1925 in Bromont, Quebec, Canada to the late William & Mary (Morris) Dunlavey.
Wilma grew up on the Irish Range in Bromont. She married the love of her life, Roland Forand, in 1949. They moved to the United States in 1956, and settled in Enosburgh for a few years before moving to Bakersfield. Wilma was a homemaker and caregiver most of her life. She loved music, dancing, entertaining and the occasional game of Bingo. When Roland passed away in 1993 Wilma moved in with her daughter and her husband, Charmaine & Clement. She stayed there for nearly 25 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Charmaine & Clement Paquette and their children, Chad & Erin Paquette, their children, Xander, Anya & Wesley, Craig Paquette, his children, Cole, Olivia & Ethan and Carrie Paquette, her children, Charlie & Henry; her son, Daniel & Brenda Forand and their children, Jessie and Katie Forand and her daughter, Marlene & Chris Bouthillette and their children, Emilie, Adam & Shane and many special nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, Wilma was predeceased by her husband, Roland Forand; her daughter, Jo-Ann Forand and siblings, Winifred (Cecil) McMahon, Eileen (Lawrence) Campbell, Edna (Peter) Dunn, Morris (Gilberte) Dunlavey, Emmitt Dunlavey, Elmer (Marie) Dunlavey and Marie (John) Choquette.

She was born September 21, 1958 in Burlington to Ethan Baxter and the late Ruth (Costello) Baxter.
Margies favorite hobbies included playing cards and board games with friends. She had a love for horses and gardening. She worked as a housekeeper for most of her life, but she also spent time working at IBM in Essex Jct, and most recently at FoodScience of Vermont in Williston.
She is survived by her daughters, Kaitlin Raymond and her husband Jason of Victoria, VA and Pamela Baxter of Colchester; grandchildren, Caleb, Desiree, Alisha, Damien, Savannah, Lemar & Devonte; her father, Ethan Baxter of Maine; her sister, Susan Baxter of Arizona and her brother, Tim Baxter of Burlington. Margie was predeceased by her husband, Mark Wright; her mother, Ruth Baxter and her sister, Kathy Baxter.

JOHNSON - Bernice I. Longley
....show , age 88, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017, on the birthday of her late husband, Cedric, with her loving family by her side at the Forest Hills Community Care Home in Hyde Park.
She was born June 26, 1929 in Richford to the late Harland & Flora (Hogaboom) Marcy.
Bernice married Cedric Longley Sr. on July 5, 1947. They worked side-by-side for many years at their Willow Crossing dairy farm in Johnson, they also took care of cemeteries in the Enosburgh area for several years. Bernice was a great cook and she co-owned and operated Grandmas Bake Shop in Richford with her sister, Doris. She loved spending time with her family; Christmas was her favorite time of the year, but Sunday dinners were a close second! Bernice always looked forward to outings with her sisters. In her spare time, Bernice liked to crochet and go camping.
She is survived by her children, Cedric Longley Jr. and his wife, Jacquelyn of Eden and Dean Longley and his wife, Gail of Johnson; 3 grandchildren, Julie Longley-Gillen and her husband, Justin, Andrew Longley and Rachal Longley-Wood and her husband, Travis; 2 great grandchildren, Kendra and Morgan; her beloved dog, Missy and many nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, Bernice was predeceased by her husband, Cedric Longley Sr.; her twin sister, Beatrice Longe and her husband, William; siblings, Doris Rhodes and her husband, Floyd, Gladys Dolan and her husband, Robert and Ethan Marcy and his wife, Joyce and her siblings-in-law, Merrill, Raymond, Thayer, Clarence, Leonard & Charles Longley, Joyce Marcy, Eunice Messier, Hildred Greenwood, Beatrice Malone and Blanche Malone.

Rachelle R. Roche of Swanton
....show , VT and currently residing at the University Village Memory Care Center in Round Rock, TX, went to be with the angels on Monday August 14, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Rachelle (Rae) was born November 8, 1930 in Clovis, NM, the daughter of Consuelo (Nieves) and Antonio G. Alvarez. In 1943, she met the love of her life, James A. Roche, of St. Albans, VT when he was stationed at the Air Force Base in Clovis. It was love at first sight. They exchanged addresses and started corresponding through letters. When Jim found out she was only 13, he promised to return to marry her when she turned 18. Having never dated and only corresponding through the mail, true to his word, 5 years later, he returned to Clovis to marry the woman he loved and never forgot. He told Rachelle if they still felt the same way about each other, they would be married. If not, he would return home on the next bus. They were married on May 22, 1949 and celebrated 38 years of marriage until his death on July 31, 1987. They are now reunited forever in heaven.
Rae was a member of St Paul's Methodist Church, a member of the adult choir and the Outreach Circle. She was employed for a short time at the Swanton Elementary School and for 14 years at the Medical Records Department at the Northwest Medical Center in St. Albans.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Linda and John Corbiere of Swanton, her sister, Trini Ortiz of Reno, NV, her brother Ron of New Mexico, her grandson Jason Corbiere and wife Jacqueline, of Hutto. TX, who lovingly cared for her in their home until it became necessary to place her in a facility; her granddaughter Jennifer Gaworecki and husband David of St. Albans and her great granddaughter Ava Lynn Gaworecki, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband James, and her brother Daniel.
The family would like to thank Wendy Campbell and Nancy Bockus for their excellent care and also dear friend, Linda Russo for taking her to church every Sunday.

Carol Ann Parah
....show passed away peacefully on September 11, 2017 at her daughters home. Carol was born on June 25, 1940 in St. Albans, Vermont to the late Basil and Lillian LaFleur. Carol graduated from Highgate High school in 1958. On April 11, 1959, she was married to Arnold Parah, Jr. who survives her.
She was a member of the Swanton Hi-Swans and enjoyed weekly lunch gatherings with Age Well. Carol made her home in Swanton where she raised her children and enjoyed her grandchildren. One of her favorite pastimes was being an active supporter at sporting events and school activities, both near and far. Carol loved being outdoors working in her flower beds and feeding the birds. Carol and Arnold often drove around the mountain areas of Vermont enjoying the scenes and watching the deer feed. She enjoyed many bus trips with Together Tours, Summit Travels, and Franklin County Travelers and Green Mountain Tours. She enjoyed her trips to the ocean in Maine and Hampton Beach. On December 25, 2016 she flew on an airplane for the first time to Florida where she visited Disney and many area attractions with her daughter Lisa and granddaughters Shauna and Shelby. One of her greatest treasures was the birth of her great-grandson Malik Meunier born on March 8, 2017. Carols smile and love for life will be missed by all.
Carol is survived by her husband of 58 years, Arnold Parah Jr., son, Kevin Parah and wife Anita, daughter, Lisa Meunier and husband Edward Jr. all of Swanton Vt. Sister, Sandra Bellrose and husband Allen of Richford Vt. Grandchildren, Shauna, Derek, Shelby, and Matthew Meunier and his partner Sheena Gagnon and their son Malik, Mollie, Evan, and Chad Parah and his partner Heather Bishop and her son Cory, dear friends Sherree & Ricky Longe, special friends Nancy Flint and Anne Lamphere, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her brothers Basil LaFleur and Stephen LaFleur.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue in Swanton. Pastor Penny Gutierres from the Church Of the Rock will officiate.
There will be a gathering of friends and family from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral.
Interment will follow in the family lot in Riverside Cemetery in Swanton.

....show , age 76, passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Springfield Hospital with his family at his side.
He was born May 19, 1941 in South Richford to the late Delbert W. Sr. & Mildred (Sicard) Combs.
Ronald was a resident of Richford for many years. In his early years, Ronald worked at Blue Seal Feeds in Richford and as a logger for Hugh Smith and Norbert Bergeron. He then took over the family farm and became a dairy farmer and maple syrup producer.
He is survived by his children, Denise Knowles and her husband Roland of Henry, TN, Aaron Combs and his wife Tina of Richford, Mark Combs and his wife Karen of Franklin and Wayne Combs of Richford; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; the mother of his children, Alice Combs of Richford; his brothers, Melvin Combs and his wife Esther and Delbert Combs Jr. and his wife Tammy all of Richford; sisters, Lulah Lavery of Barre, Nadene Wetherby and her husband Homer of Sheldon and Lorraine Jewett of Naugatuck, CT; his uncle, Orval Combs and his wife Mary of Fairfield and several nieces & nephews. Ronald was predeceased by his mother, Mildred, in 1973 and his father, Delbert Sr., in 2012.
Services were private and held at the convenience of the family.

Kenneth P. Turner
....show , Born January 2, 1956 in Weymouth, MA passed away peacefully on September 7, 2017 with his loving family by his side. He was a man who spoke his mind. He was a machinist by trade. Ken enjoyed life with his family, talking sports with his grandchildren, encouraging them in school, puttering in his garage on his tractor and truck, talking to kitty cat, going for drives, creemees, listening to the oldies and Motown, anything to do with WWII history and he could strike up a conversation with anyone about anything.
Ken is survived by his wife Aline, his stepchildren, Rosaire and Shannon Laroche and their children, Maria (Ross Lavoie), Daniel (Jess Commo) and their son Jayden, and Jared, Roger and Penny Laroche and their children, Dustin and Shane, Estelle Laroche and her fianc Mike Grenier, Marilyn and Andy Pelletier and their children Oliver and Nora, his brother Richard Turner and his wife Peggy of Scituate, MA. A sister Suzie Mancuso and her husband Steve of Middleborough, MA and a brother in law Brian Allen of Falmouth, MA, his niece Eryn Allen and her three daughters, Ema, Marina, and Kayla and his nephew Brian. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Richard Rit Turner and Marilyn Benny Turner of Scituate, MA, his sister, Tami Allen of Plymouth, MA, two grandsons, Jordan Laroche and Lucien Pelletier.
Ken attended school Scituate public schools and South Shore Votech in Scituate, MA. Throughout his life Ken worked as a machinist at Walworth valve/Mason Nelan, he also worked for friends Steve White and Frannie Litchfield before moving to Vermont. Once in Vermont, Ken worked at Velan Valve in Williston and Rays Extrusion Dies and Tubing in Highgate. He also owned and operated Kens Sharpening shop in Highgate Springs for 22 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. from Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. The Reverend Kerry Cameron will officiate.

Ina Emily (Thompson) Delaney
....show , age 68 years, died Tuesday evening, September 5, 2017, in the Northwestern Medical Center with loving family at her side.
Born at home in Alburgh on, October 22, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Florence (Rouse) Thompson. She graduated from Alburgh High School and on, December 12, 1971, was married to Michael Arthur Delaney who predeceased her on, January 2, 2007.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, country music, old movies and playing games on her kindle.
Ina leaves her two daughters, Dottie (Dorothy) Thompson and companion Mark Cherrier of St. Albans and Ann Delaney and husband Jason Paquette of Franklin. Also surviving are her brothers, Bernard Thompson of Swanton and Steven Thompson and wife Jane of North Hero. Ina adored her grandchildren and they include, Ben Demore, Eric Demore, Samantha Fournier, Sara Clark and great granddaughter, baby girl Michelle Demore as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Ina was predeceased by siblings, Royce, Gilbert, Graeme and Lloyd Thompson, Elizabeth Crites and Beverly Lemoine; sister-in-law Mary Vasseur and husband Albert and brother-in-law Robert Jake Delaney and wife Eldora.
Inas family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Northwestern Medical Center Emergency Department and PCU Unit as well as everyone at Champlain Valley Hematology and Oncology for their professional and loving care.
A Funeral Service will be held Monday, September 11, 2017, at 2 p.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. The Reverend Anne Torrance Bachmann will officiate. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Delaney family lot in Saint Marys Roman Catholic Cemetery.

RICHFORD - Amanda M. Paradis
....show , age 80, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford, Vermont.
She was born August 11, 1937 in Berkshire to the late Adelord & Alphonsine (Goyette) Vachon.
Amanda attended school in East Berkshire. She married Raymond Paradis on October 26, 1957. They farmed for most of their life until retirement in 1988. Amanda and Raymond spent their winters in Florida from 1993-2005. Her favorite hobbies included gardening, swimming, lawn saling, working on puzzles, reading and playing cards. Amandas greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Joanne Edwards and her husband Roy of Wesley Chapel, FL, Daniel Paradis and his wife Wendy of Berkshire, Karen Douglas and her husband Mike of Fairfield and Dianne Leach and her husband Scott of Fairfax; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her siblings, Pauline Chadwick and her husband Harvey of Swanton, Marcelene Spaulding and her husband Stanley of Essex and Arthur Vachon and his wife Linda of Berkshire and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, Amanda was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Paradis; son, Raymond Mark Paradis and sisters, Doris Austin and Vivian Paradis.
Amandas family would like to thank the staff from Ave Maria, Our Lady of the Meadows and Franklin County Home Health Agency for the care she received over the last few years.

Barbara H. Reynolds
....show (91) a lifelong resident of Swanton died at St. Albans Healthcare Center on August 30th 2017 surrounded by her family.
Barbara was born 3/6/1926 in Swanton, Vermont. Her parents were Homer Holbrook and Bernadette Fournier Holbrook.
She graduated from Swanton High School in 1944 as valedictorian and was a member of the glee club and the basketball team.
She married Howard Reynolds of Swanton 7/5/1945 and they had two sons, Thomas and Robert.
Barbara enjoyed playing both the piano and organ. She also loved her flower garden, swimming, waterskiing, cross country skiing and reading. Her pet dogs, birds and fish gave her great joy and in later years Barbara enjoyed jigsaw puzzles.
She was a homemaker and volunteered in many organizations such as Senior Citizens.
Barbara was also very active in the Swanton Methodist church organizing many suppers, a member of the Eastern Stars and Kings Daughters.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and brother (Charles Holbrook).
Barbara is survived by her two sons and their wives, Thomas and Debbie Reynolds of Swanton and Robert and Danielle Reynolds of Queensbury, NY, her granddaughter Katie Reynolds of Burlington, her sister and her husband Norma H. Guertin and Paul Guertin of St. Albans, her sister-in- law Phyllis Holbrook of Swanton her nephews and their wives Bernard and Brenda Holbrook of Swanton and their daughter Angie Hammel of Burlington, Dale and Mary Guertin of Richford, Jay and Kathy Guertin of New Hampshire and their children Nicholas Guertin and Erin Caruso of New Hampshire.
She is also survived by lifelong friends Marjorie Shaw and Hortence Wheeler as well as longtime family friend Pastor Bill Simmons with whom Barbara enjoyed weekly luncheons and prayer meetings at the Kings Daughters Home.
The family would like to thank the East Wing staff of St. Albans Healthcare Center and the staff of Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford, for their loving care of Barbara.
At Barbaras request there will be no calling hours. There will be a private Graveside Service at a later date.

Rosella Hutchins Hansen
....show , of Alburgh passed away peacefully at the McClure Miller VNA Respite House on August 28, 2017 with her family by her side. Rose was born in North Hero, Vermont on September 14, 1932, the daughter of Aaron and Cora Hutchins. She graduated from Alburgh High School and married Herman Hansen, Jr. on July 9, 1951. They were married for 65 years.
Rose had many different occupations, interests and hobbies. She worked on the family farm with Herman and operated the very popular Rosies Snack Bar in Alburgh. She was also a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. Rose was an active member of the Alburgh Fire Department Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society. She loved playing bingo and going to yard sales. She enjoyed spending winters with Herman at their home in Deland, Florida and summers on Lake Champlain.
Rose leaves her three sons, Herman (Chris) and wife, Pam, Theodore and partner, Lynn, Thomas and wife, Lynne, grandchildren Crystal, Darcie, Jenna, Alyson and Johnathan and four great grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, Ernest Hutchins. Rose was predeceased by her husband, Herman, her brother, Henry Hutchins and her sister, Beatrice Roy.
Funeral services will be held at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. The Reverend Kerry T. Cameron will officiate.

Catherine Alice Hatterick
....show , age 76 years, died Sunday, August 27, 2017, at the St. Albans Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center with loving family at her side.
Born in St. Albans on, February 20, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Virginia (Billows) Thompson. She graduated from BFA-St. Albans and for several years worked as an inspector for Vermont Precision Tools.
She will be remembered as a devoted grandmother, beautiful seamstress, excellent cook and an avid Bingo fan.
Catherine was one of nine children and leaves behind, two sons and their wives, Tracy and April Hatterick of Fairfield and Danny and Terry Hatterick of Swanton; three daughters, Cynthia Derick and Partner Dan Stearman of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Nancy Hatterick and partner Allen Gumlaw of Swanton and Tammy Hatterick of Selma, NC; two brothers, Richard Thompson and his wife of CO and Carl Thompson of Fair Haven; two sisters, Shirley Machia and Gloria Glidden both of Richford; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, September 3, 2017, from 12 Noon to 4 p.m. at the home of Tracy and April Hatterick, 1423 Sheldon Woods Road, Fairfield.
BAKERSFIELD - David L. Carr
....show , age 77, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the Franklin County Rehab Facility in St. Albans.
He was born July 8, 1940 in Hardwick to the late Lawrence & Rogene (Marckres) Carr.
David graduated from Essex High School in 1958 and went on to graduate from the University of Vermont in 1962. While at UVM he became a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. David married Janice Allen on January 27, 1962. They settled in Bakersfield in 1968. David farmed in Bakersfield for 20 years, milking cows for 10 of them and offering tractor work for the remainder. He also worked as a tax preparer for nearly 40 years. Davids favorite hobbies included playing his fiddle and guitar, woodworking, and tractor work & restoration. He was also a member of the Northeast Fiddlers Association and the Vermont Tax Preparers Association.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Carr of Bakersfield; their children John Carr and his significant other, Wanda Cochran of Jeffersonville, Daniel Carr and his wife, Natalie of Essex and Susan Carr of Baltimore, MD; 2 granddaughters, Bronwyn & Anya Carr; his brother, Thomas Carr and his wife Robin of Leesburg, FL; brother-in-law, Thomas Berry of Milton and many siblings-in-law and nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his daughter, Catherine Carr and his sister, Judy Berry.

She was born December 17, 1956 in St. Albans to the late Edwin Pete & Eleanor (Sweet) Levick.
Noreen was a graduate of B.F.A. St. Albans. She worked at Fonda Container in St. Albans from 1997-2005 and most recently worked as a Maple Sugar Artisan for Brooke Maple Farms in Highgate. Noreen was an avid gardener, a spectacular cook and she loved to can vegetables. She was a one-of-a-kind mother and grandmother to all, scrabble master, bird lover and outdoor enthusiast. Noreen had the biggest heart; she would make everyone feel special and always found a way to bring out their best qualities. We will miss her green thumb, warm hugs and hearing her call us darling, dear, babe or hun.
She is survived by her children, Sara Levick of Swanton and Lucas Levick and his significant other, Kayleigh Yandow of Swanton; her grandchildren, Hayden & Sophia Dixon and Liam McMillan; siblings, Peter Levick of Fairfax, Alan Levick and his wife Joan of Richford, Lori Thompson and her husband Lester of Franklin and Cynthia Barnes and her husband Robert Jr. and several nieces & nephews. Noreen was predeceased by her parents, Pete & Eleanor.

RICHFORD - Kenneth R. Lavalla
....show , age 84, husband of Suzanne (Tetreault) Lavalla, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
He was born in Enosburgh on March 18, 1933 the son of the late Kenneth & Dorothy (Myott) Lavalla.
Ken was a resident of Richford most of his life where he was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and a 42 year employee of H.K. Webster (Blue Seal Feeds). Ken was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Ken was very active in the Richford community, devoting countless hours to several organizations including, Richford Fire Dept. - 52 years, Richford Ambulance Service, Richford Lions Club - 52 years and Melvin Jones recipient, American Legion Post #12, Knights of Columbus, All Saints Church Parish Council, Richford Playground caretaker, Richford Reparative Board, Richford Forest Fire Warden - 30 years, and NOTCH Board of Directors. He also mowed the grounds at Hillside Cemetery, created a community skating rink, volunteered for the American Red Cross Blood Drive in Richford, delivered the Burlington Free Press and assisted many elderly people over the years.
Ken is survived by his wife of 63 years. Ken & Suzanne were married May 1, 1954. He is also survived by his children, Michael Lavalla of Wilder, Jamie Lavalla and his wife Kristy of Georgia, Joanne Brown and her husband Patrick and Doni Lavalla all of Richford; his grandchildren, Angela, Scott & Craig (Michaels); Levi, Kenneth, Jordan, Elora & Tristan (Jamies); Karen, Sarah & Erika (Joannes), Rebekah, Elijah & Zachariah (Donis); his great grandchildren, Ella, Wyatt, Hunter, Gavin, Donovan, Leighton, Madeleine, Kylar, Kayson, Bentley, Brantley & Dashiell; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Ken was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Diane Lavalla; and his sister Barbara Lavalla Laraba and her husband John.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church, 152 Main St., Richford with Rev. Karl Hahr celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

....show , age 49, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the VNA Respite House in Colchester.
He was born May 3, 1968 in St. Albans. Jamie was a music fanatic and throughout his life he attended over 200 concerts, his favorite being AC/DC. He even owned a music store for a while. Jamie went to work for the State of Vermont Department of Corrections in 1989 and for the past 19 years he worked at the probation office; where he ran the work crew program. Jamie was highly respected by co-workers and probationers alike.
He is survived by his mother, Iris Pelkey Jones of St. Albans; 2 step-sons, Peter & David Roy of Williston; a brother, David Benneig and his wife Wilaiporn of Sheldon; 2 sisters, Stacey Jefferies of Colorado and Theresa Benneig of New York and several nieces & nephews. Jamie was predeceased by his brother, Gary Benneig and his sisters, Patricia & Sandra Benneig.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from 4 - 7:00 PM at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton.

MONTGOMERY CENTER - Evelyn Eve Sampietro
....show , age 95, passed away on Thursday morning, September 21, 2017 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Montgomery Center.
She was born February 15, 1922 in Jersey City, NJ the daughter of the late Robert Daniel & Jeannette (Snyder) Morrison.
Eve graduated Jersey City High School, and then attended Cooper Union Art School in Manhattan, where she graduated with a degree in the Arts. Eve did a lot of work with Will Gear (the grandpa on the Waltons show) doing Shakespeare, a true passion of hers. This led to her running the Putnam Play House is New York, doing many great plays including The South Pacific, while raising her six children in Mahopac, New York.
After separating from her husband Richard, she went to work for Bloomingdale's until she was recruited to work for Saks Fifth Avenue, where she ran the perfume department and was a Fashion Model for them. She retired and lived in Putnam for a few years until moving to Myrtle Beach S.C., where she took care of two little girls until she was 78. When she was 80 she moved to Vermont to be helped by family, where she lived out her life, being the loving, happy woman she was until the day she died.
She is survived by her children, Randall Kent Sampietro of Myrtle Beach, SC, Scott Sampietro and his wife Susie of San Antonio, TX, Laurie Sam Murphy and her husband Tim of Montgomery, Robyn Danielle Dani Barnes and her husband Asa of Brewster, NY, and Keith Sampietro and his wife Lori of Montgomery Ctr.; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Eve was predeceased by her husband, Richard Henry Sampietro; son, Gary Wayne Sampietro; grandson, Russell Roy Sampietro and her sister, Mildred Charney.
In keeping with Eves wishes she will be cremated and there will be no visiting hours or memorial service.

....show , age 64, passed away Wednesday evening, September 20, 2017 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington with her loving family at her side.
She was born April 30, 1953 in Hartford, CT the daughter of the late Harold Joseph & Harriet Madeline (Westover) Aldridge.
Jo-Anne graduated from Missisquoi Valley Union High School in 1971. Over the years she was employed at various places, retiring from Bertek Systems in Swanton, VT in 2002. Most recently Jo-Anne helped out at her daughter and son in laws store in Alburgh, VT.
Jo-Anne (fondly referred to as Bunny) was an inspiration to us all. She was an incredible Mother, Grandmother, an awesome Sister, Aunt and friend. She had a total selfless heart of gold and was a great listener. Jo-Anne would help with whatever you may have needed. She will be greatly missed and always loved.

HIGHGATE CENTER - James Hoose
....show (79), a longtime resident of Highgate Center passed away Tuesday, September 19th after a long illness. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Joyce (Barratt) Hoose, three children, Randy, Sandy, and Ann, and four grandchildren, Ricky, Kyla, Erika, and Stefanie.
He proudly served in the Vermont Army National Guards for 28 years where he achieved the rank of Master Sargent. He enjoyed working with small engines and could often be found at Rons Small Engine Repair before opening his own shop out of his home. He was an avid gardener and could often be found outside.
He was the son of Richard W. Hoose and Stella (Greenwood) Hoose. The youngest of 12, he was predeceased by Alvin, Helen, Francis, Gertrude, Marjorie, Margarite, Rena, Richard, Violet, and Betty. He is survived by his sister, Mary, sister-in-law Elaine Hoose and brother-in-law, Brian Butch Barratt, and several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held Friday, November 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in his memory to St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
