Robert C. Allard
....show , 80 of Clearwater, Florida, passed away on September 9, 2016. He was born on April 25, 1936 in Lyndonville, Vt. and was the third child born to Beatrice (Brooks/Rousseau) Allard and Rene R. Allard. After graduating from Sacred Heart Schools in Newport, Vt. He enlisted in the Air Force and served for four years.
He leaves his wife, Audrey Wells Allard; his children Robin (Phil) Evans of Largo, Fl. His son Aaron Allard of Clearwater, Fl. his grandchildren Lydia and Timothy Evans of Largo Fl. He is survived by his brothers Armand(Yvette) of Pineless Park, Fl., Donald (Pauline) of Stanstead Qc. Canada, Michael (Monique) of of Newport Center Vt., and his sister Therese Tanguay of Newport, Vt.,his sister-in-law and brother -in-law Murlene and Rober Skinner of Derby, Vt. and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Reginald, in 2013 and his brother, Albert, in childhood.
Robert (Bob) Garfield Baker
....show , 86, of Newport, Vermont passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on September 6, 2016 in Newport, VT. He was born on April 9, 1930 in Newport to Stanley and Doris (Leavitt) Baker. On September 11, 1954 he married Hilda Manning, the love of his life, who predeceased him on June 15, 2015.
Bob was a graduate of Newport High School. He honorably served on active duty in the United States Navy from July, 1948 through July, 1952. He worked many years for the Newport Daily Express and then as assistant Post Master for the United States Post Office in Newport until he retired.
Among his hobbies, Bob enjoyed fishing and hunting (often with his good friend, Joe Coutu, who predeceased him), bowling on a league in Derby and playing cribbage (frequently with his son Brad). Bob was also an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed discussing the games with his brother Don. He also enjoyed trips with his wife to Nashville, Tennessee and Branson, Missouri to see the singers and listen to country music. In recent years his favorite pastime was sitting on his front porch and waving to friends and neighbors as they drove or walked by his home.
Bob devoted his life to his wife and children. There was nothing he enjoyed more than being with his family.
He is survived by his children: Debbie Gebbie and her husband Brad of Glover, VT, Brenda McNeal and her husband Tim of Mobile, AL, Bradley Baker and his wife Jodi of Newport, VT, and Kim Fortin and her husband Bob of Goffstown, NH. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Megan Duquette and her husband Jonny of Billings, Montana, Jenna Hurd and her husband Tom of St. Johnsbury, VT, Taylor Fortin and Michael Fortin both of Goffstown, NH and by his great grandchildren: Owen Hurd, Kylee and Kinsley Duquette. He is survived by his siblings: Betty Ann Finn of St. Albans, VT, Donald Baker and his wife Polly of Summerfield, FL, Stanley Baker and his wife Mimi of Derby, VT, Mona Lewis and her husband Mickey of Newport, VT, Doris Demers and her husband Leo of Whitefield, NH, and Valda Cole of Arcadia, FL along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister Vera McFarlane, his sister Bonnie Bullis and her husband Rob, his brother Larry Baker and wife Laura, his brother Winston Kelley, his brother Larry Kelley, his brother-in-law Mickey McFarlane and his brother-in-law Winfield Cole.
A very special thank you goes out to neighbors Nancy Cook, Penny Flood and James and Wendy Leithead for their kindness and affection toward Bob.

Rolande Bathalon
....show , 84, of Troy, Vermont passed away peacefully at her home in Newport, Vermont on Friday September 2 surrounded by her children. Born the first of eight children of Philippe and Bernadette Lauzon in Mawcook, Canada on January 1, 1932; She was predeceased by her loving husband Roger Bathalon on September 4, 1989.
She lived a full life first as a farmer's daughter helping her father, then as a farmer's wife, homemaker and mother. Life took a turn when Roger changed careers as a carpenter and she helped him build two homes. She enjoyed many years working as a chamber maid at Hotel Jay and as a seamstress for Bogner Sports in Newport, Vermont. All the while she provided a loving home for family and friends to gather for good food, lots of laughter and always cold beer on hand. She enjoyed many friends in life, often seen helping out at church functions or more often on the dance floor with her husband. Her passion was working in her flowers both inside and out. As she said many times in later life: "I would do it all again."
The last of her generation for the Bathalon family, she is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren: Paul & Lucy, children Sara and Emma; Gaston & Rose, children Amanda (Sister Regina SCC), Emilie & Joshua White (children Theodore and Catherine), Phillip & Colleen, and Jeffrey; Andre, children Megan & Matt Cameron (children Bryce and Nora), Eben & Sue (children Sofie and Andre); Rachel & Mike Wehner, children Kevin and partner Rachel, Katelynn, and Kristopher; Michael, daughter Kara & Ian Bouchette (children Noah and Owen). She is also survived by her siblings Jim Lauzon and spouse Carol, Lise Turgeon, John Lauzon and partner Lucy, and Denise Guillemette and spouse Roland, many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
She is predeceased by three siblings, Gelles Lauzon, Giselle Roberts and Albert Lauzon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Troy on Saturday September 10, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with interment in St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Cemetery in Lowell directly following. William Joel Bly

William "Bill" Joel Bly, a lifelong Vermonter and lover of running, skiing, and maple syrup, passed away on August 28, 2016 in Belleville, Arkansas. Although his life ended unexpectedly, he lived and loved life fully with humor and enthusiasm infectious to everyone he met.
Born in Newport, Vermont to the late Edward and Thelma Bly, Bill and his three sisters grew up raising Holstein cattle on a dairy farm in East Charleston. No stranger to hard work, he helped manage the farm, attended Derby Academy, and ran track and cross country, where he set and held numerous records. After graduating, he pursued his interest in electronics by attending Vermont Technical College, married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie, and then enlisted and served in the Navy for six years as an electronics technician. While serving, son Scott and daughter Kristy were born and his Navy travels landed them in Puerto Rico, where the sand met the sea and friends became family. Nearing the end of the Vietnam War, he moved his family back to Vermont, welcomed the arrival of daughter Rae-Anne, and began a nearly 20 year electronics career working for Motorola until starting his own company, Bly Communications.
Despite choosing a career outside of farming, Bill remained a country farm boy at heart. With his keen carpentry skills, he built two beautiful homes in which to raise his family, large vegetable gardens, and a menagerie of cats, sheep, horses, and a miniature donkey named "Beau". He and his friend BJ boiled sap to keep his maple syrup "habit" alive and after the maple trees were tragically lost in an ice storm, he began keeping bees for honey, which in true character he affectionately called "bee barf".
Although he made horrible Cream of Wheat in his childhood years, he became a really good cook as an adult to fuel his love of food. From elaborate breakfast bowls of "berries, nuts, and twigs" and chock-full omelets to vegetable stir-fry's and grilled salmon, his creations were always mouth-watering. His true food love, however, were sweets. He lived for desserts: his mother's pies (fruit, chocolate, whoopee – you name it he ate it), his sister's cookies, Rae-Anne's tarts, anything with maple syrup – or that could serve as a maple syrup delivery device, and his beloved Ben and Jerry's ice cream.
Sugar highs in combination with Bill's naturally energetic nature and sense of humor made him a really fun person to be around. He worked hard and played hard, although often worked more than he played. He loved music and dancing and excelled at downhill skiing, tennis, and running. He was an avid runner who completed many marathons, including the Boston Marathon at age 60. He maintained the weight lifting routine he established in the Navy and would do any outside activity any time of the year. After satisfying his daily "endorphin fix", he would relax by watching football (go Patriots!) and napping on the couch. Sundays were his favorite day to unwind and spend time with family.
In his late 50s the tides of change welcomed a new family into his life. He and wife Myra lived in South Hero, Vermont for a number of years until he retired. Thereafter, they moved to a small town in Arkansas to enjoy a peaceful life gardening, swimming, and spending time with Myra's daughters and granddaughter for the remainder of his life. Bill may not have lived to be an old man as we all had hoped for, but he lived life fully. He loved. He was caring and generous. His footprints are on our hearts and his spirit will live on through each of the lives he touched.
Bill is survived by wife, Myra J. Bly of Belleville, Ar.; his children: Scott (Dawn) Bly of Seattle, Wa.; Kristy Bly (Seth Carbonari) of Columbia Falls, Mt.; Rae-Anne (Keith) LaCroix of Moretown, Vt.; step-children Shauna Kitchens of Belleville, Ak. and Chelsea (Kasey) Baker of Heavener, Ok.; his siblings, Valerie (Ernie) Spring of Hanover, Ma.; Beverly (Verne) Devereux of Barton, Vt.; and Sherry (John) Clarke of Hartland, Vt.; grandchildren: Nate Bly and Luke and Lydia LaCroix, along with step-grandchild Lillian Baker; former wife Bonnie Farrow, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of William Joel Bly will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Hillside Cemetery on Church Hill Road in East Charleston, Vermont. Following the service is a reception at Beverly and Verne Devereux's home at 2719 Willoughby Lake Road in Barton, Vermont.

Chester "Chet" A. Carpenter Jr.
....show , age 95, went to be with his beloved Lord and Savior on September 6, 2016.
He was born in Derby, Vermont on October 11, 1920, to Beryl (Temple) and Chester A. Carpenter, Sr.
He worked hard on the family farm and grew up next door to the love of his life, Wilma White. He graduated from Derby Academy, class of 1938, and faithfully attended yearly alumni banquets.
He answered the call to serve his country during WWII, joining the Army and serving in the Pacific Theater. He survived the sinking of the S.S President Coolidge in October, 1942, just months after marrying his beloved Wilma. In 1943, he received the Soldier's Medal for heroism in the Solomon Islands for an incident he rarely talked about, but involved live ammunition and fire. He and his wife both attended UCONN on the GI Bill after they got out of the service.
Following the war, he and his brother-in-law Maurice Marsh, owned and operated a machine tool shop on Union Street (Marsh and Carpenter) for many years. He could literally fix anything and made incredible and fun toys for his kids.
Being very civic minded, he volunteered his time to various local organizations and his opinions highly respected.
Chet had a tremendous knowledge of local history and enjoyed sharing information with friends and family. He was an avid reader and had a bookshelf full of books on history and biographies. He was an avid antique bottle and postcard collector. He loved being involved in local historical groups. He never met a squirrel, bird or chipmunk he would not feed.
He was a member of the Derby Community Church, a true man of God.
He and Wilma spent many quality hours at their camp on Salem Lake with family and friends. He loved his family and his church first and foremost.
Chet is survived by his daughter Kathy, sisters-in-law Joan Carpenter of Newport, and Joyce Carpenter of Williston, Vt., several nieces and nephews, and many church family members whom he also considered family. He was especially pleased with Susan Barnett and thankful for all of the assistance over the last several months.
He was predeceased by his parents, 8 siblings, his dear wife Wilma (after 50 Years of marriage), his daughter-in-law Carol and his son Jerry Carpenter.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday September 14, 2016 at 11:00a.m. at the Derby Community Church in Derby, Vt. with the Rev. Fred and Carol Barker officiating.
Following the Service the interment will take place in the Derby Center Cemetery.

Jean-y Champagne
....show , 66, of Troy, Vermont passed away on August 28, 2016 in Burlington, VT. He was born on March 20, 1950 in St. Zachary, Quebec Canada to Noel and Blanche (Chabot) Champagne. He married Letitia Gagnon on June 21, 1997 who survives him.
Mr. Champagne was a carpenter by trade. He was employed for many years by Lavel Couture of Canada. His hobbies included snow mobiling, NASCAR, traveling in Canada and Connecticut. He enjoyed a good party and being with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Letitia Champagne of Troy, VT, by his children: Michelle, Caroline, Letitia, Steven, Michael and Ron. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is survived by two brothers: Robert and Rene Champagne and by his sister Eliette Dallaire.
He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Michel Dallaire and son-in-law Scott, and a sister.

Richard Tokunboh Paul Dabiri
....show was born on December 26, 1952 in Brooklyn, NY to Alhaji Chief Mustapha Dabiri and Ivy Marshall Dabiri. He spent a significant part of his formative years in both Trinidad, West Indies and Nigeria, West Africa. True to his nature, he easily connected with both the Trinidadian and Nigerian cultures, enjoyed the love and attention of immediate and extended relatives and gained lifelong friends. They have been a major part of his life since then.
After attending St Gregory's School in Lagos, Richard returned to the United States where he completed high school. He went on to earn an undergraduate degree in Urban Sociology at Hofstra University, a Master's of Science in City, Regional and Transportation Planning from Pratt Institute; and additional training in Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering and Airport Planning and Design.
Richard had a fulfilling career providing consulting, strategic planning and project management services in both the private and public sectors. He held planning positions for several cities and towns across the country including Baltimore (MD), Northeast Kingdom (VT), Westmore (VT), Compton (CA) and Los Angeles (CA) to name a few and consulted for local governments in Iraq, Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), Israel, Federal Republic of Tanzania and Nigeria. Additionally, he held teaching positions at the Community College of Vermont and the School for International Training based in Washington, DC.
Richie as he was affectionately called by family and close friends had a fascination with antique cars. He was an avid lover of nature and enjoyed spending time outdoors – hiking, sailing, fishing and taking road trips in addition to spending quality time with loved ones. Most of his time was spent in Vermont, Massachusetts, and Florida. Richard died in Vermont in August of 2016.
Richard leaves behind his two daughters Atinuke and Oluwakemi, a son in law Olurotimi; his surviving siblings, Mrs. Iyabo Dabiri Adesina, Justice Gloria M. Dabiri, Mr. Abiodun Dabiri, Mrs. Yetunde Dabiri Olusi, Mr. Oladapo Dabiri, Mrs. Ireti Dabiri Johnson and their families; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
Speedo Deskins

Speedo was born on March 22 1953 in Germany to Gene Deskins and Eleanor Barnett. He went to school at NCHUS. Speedo worked as a heavy equipment operator and a DJ. He had a great love of music, line dancing, and riding his Harley motorcycle. He always had a smile on his face and a warm greeting for anyone he met.
Speedo is predeceased by his father Gene and his mother Eleanor, also by his "adopted parents" Wynn and Ethel Dalley.
He is survived by his son Damian and wife Abby, his daughter Ana and his grandchildren Kaya and Iliana. Also by his stepmother Doris, his sisters Fran (Ed), Debbie, Kathy, and his brother Jeff, "adopted brother" Rob (Annette) and many other family as well as a lot of friends.
There will be no service at this time as Speedo has donated his body to science.
Harriet (Darby) Downing
....show passed away on September 15, 2016 at the age of 91, at her home. She was born on December 19, 1924 in Newport to Ruth (Jenne) and Cyril Reading Darby.
She graduated from Derby Academy in the class of 1942 and from Green Mountain College in 1944. Upon graduation she was employed at the National Bank of Derby Line (now Community National Bank). In June of 1947 she married Dalton (Bud) Downing and they took residence in Stanstead, Quebec before moving to Derby Line. He predeceased her on July 30, 2007.
Harriet was a member of St. Edward's Church and sang for many years in the choir. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.
Harriet was predeceased by her parents, Ruth and Cyril, and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Alberta Darby of Derby Line, and Paul and Beverly Darby of Middleton, RI. She is survived by her four children: Michael and his wife Celeste Downing of Derby Line, Elizabeth and her husband Bruce Urie of Craftsbury, Mary and her husband Bruce Muir of Derby Line, and Judith and her husband Kevin Coy of Barton. Also by her grandchildren, Caitlin Downing (Jamie Yu) Sarah (Matt) Nusbaum, Amanda (Kirk) Woodey, Timothy (Faith) Urie, Heather Urie, Analesa Muir, Eilish Muir, Andrew (Lauren) Coy, Daniel (Autumn) Coy, Samuel (Heidi Johnson) Coy, and Rachel (Stephen) Malachuk, IV. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and one on the way and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday September 21, 2016 at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Derby Line where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Edward's Cemetery, Derby Line.

Gerard Fontaine Sr.

He was born on April 11th, 1941 in Weedon, PQ. He was the son of the late Albini and Jenne (Gautier) Fontaine.
Gerard worked for Ethan Allen outside in the yard for 28 years. He married Helen LeMadeleine on July 3rd, 1965.
He enjoyed riding in his golf cart, Fishing off his pontoon boat and spending time with his children, grand children and great grand children.
He is survived by his wife Helen Fontaine of Newport Center, His daughter Kristine Fontaine of Rouses Point, NY, his son Gerard Fontaine and his wife Patricia of Newport Center. He is also survived by his grand children, Joshua Pion and his Fiance' Rebecca Poquette, Nicole Pion and her Fiance' Derek Grundmann, Melissa Savage and her husband Vaughan of South Africa, Stephany Delaney and her husband Stuart of NY, Jeremy Fontaine and his Friend Abbie Santaw of Newport Center, and 4 great grand children, Abigail, Peyton, Oliver and Graysen. He is also survived by his Brothers Real, Marcel and Ronald Fontaine and his sisters, Noella, Pierette, and Aline Dione.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Lionel, Alain, Leonard and Nicole.

Elaine Thelma (Earle) Frazier
....show , 91, of Derby, Vermont passed away peacefully on August 27, 2016. She was born on October 11, 1924 in Lynn, MA, to Harold and Carrie (Smith) Earle. On September 30, 1943 she married Hugh F. Frazier who predeceased her on May 15, 2010.
She is survived by two daughters: Esther and her husband Glenn Searles of Barton, VT, and Darlene Whipple and her husband Bruce of Derby, VT, by her two grandsons: Scott and his wife April Whipple of Indian Trial, NC, and Jason Whipple of San Francisco, CA, and by her two great granddaughters, Alice and Ruby of NC. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and by special friend and neighbor Babe Lavoie and Irene Farrar, her Sunday morning Church companion. She was predeceased by her daughter Virginia on July 31, 1982.
They moved to Newport from Morrisville, VT in 1961. Until the move she was a stay at home Mom and wife. She went to work at B.F. Moore for a short time as a seamstress and then went to American Maple working there until her retirement in 1985.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Every year she provided North Country Hospital with a hand made baby afgan for the New Year's Baby, as well as baby hats for the nursery. She also provided many mitten trees with her hand made mittens and hats.
Friends may call on Friday September 2, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road, Newport followed by a graveside service at the Pine Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Fred Barker officiating.

Shirley Marie Hemenway
....show , 93, of Orleans, Vermont, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2016 in Newport. She was born on June 18, 1923 in Irasburg,Vt. to Howard and Maybelle (Dion) Kennison. On August 20, 1940 she married Fern Hemenway who predeceased her December 7, 2015.
She was employed for five years at Ethan Allen MFG. Among her hobbies she enjoyed quilting, making quilts for all her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was also a seamstress, avid reader and she was well known for her home made raspberry pies and baked beans. She loved to play cards with family and friends.
She was a special Christmas club member for 57 years as she was the last of these members. She was very active in the 4-H Club.
She is survived by her children: Hale Fern Hemenway and his wife Sandra Jean of Fl., Shirley Devine and her husband Allan of Inverness, Fl., Carol Jaing and her husband Joseph of Ma., and Jacqueline Mei of Ny., and Eugene Mei of Colorado. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was predeceased by her daughter Sandra Lee Wentworth, by five brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Orleans where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. Timothy Naples.

Eva L. Hosford
....show , age 72, died peacefully in her home on Sunday August 28, 2016. She was born on October 28, 1943 in Westmore to the late George and Thelma (Perkins) Cole of Westmore, VT and grew up on the family farm. She was one of seven children. Eva attended school in the town of Westmore, VT.
Eva married Larry Hosford on her birthday October 28, 1961 and they spent 54 years together and raised 5 children. Eva Was always caring for others and worked as a care giver for several years. She also worked at Cabot Hosiery in Northfield, VT, for a number of years as well as Columbia Forest Products in Newport, VT.
Her favorite past times included cooking for her family and doing crafts. Eva has made numerous craft items for each and every family member and once belonged to craft groups where she would meet with other women and learn different crafts. Eva has sold several of her items at various craft shows and stores around the Northeast Kingdom.
Eva is survived by her husband Larry Hosford, Sr, of over 54 years of East Charleston, her son Larry Hosford, Jr of Springfield, MA and his partner Eric Jimenez, her son David Hosford and his partner Sybil Phaneuf of East Charleston, her son Gary Hosford and his wife Sheryl of Newport, VT, her daughter Vicki Hosford of Derby Line and her partner Ron Gill, and her daughter Darci Potwin and her husband Chris of Sharon, VT. Curtis (Curt) A. Jacques
....show , 90, died September 23, 2015 at the Kindred Care Center in Nashua, NH after declining health surrounded by loving members of his family. He was born May 27, 1926 the son of Winifred and Grace (Thurston) Jacques in Burlington, Vermont. He grew up in Jericho and Underhill VT where he attended school and enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served two years from 1946-1948. He married the love of his life in 1947, Lucienne M. (Legrand). They were married 68 years until her death in 2015. After his service to his country, Curt attended the University of Vermont where he received a B.A. of Science in Agriculture in 1952. He managed one of the top Holstein Herds in the US for the next seven years until he started a new career with the Blue Seal Feeds Company as a Dairy Feed Salesman and moved his family to a farm in Westfield Vermont where they raised their eight children. After thirty one years of service he retired as Sales Manager for the Company in 1990. He was a nationally recognized Morgan Horse Breeder showing horses throughout the northeast. He was proud to have his breeding selected to start the breed in England. He also enjoyed beekeeping, gardening and working the land.
He was truly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by

Robert Spencer Jaquish "Jake"

He was born on November 27, 1931 in Plainfield, Vt. He was the son of Charles Jaquish Sr. and Gladys (Spencer) Martin. Robert held several jobs in his lifetime. He was the proud owner of Jake's Pizza on Second Street in Newport, VT. He was a member of the Jay Peak ski patrol and an Orleans Country Club Golf Champion in the 1960s.
He is survived by his four daughters Tracie Quirion and her husband Bob of Coventry, Kimberley Benoit and her husband John of South Burlington, Amy Guidice and her husband Rick of Shelburne, Bobbie Jaquish and her partner Murphy Wakefield of Milton. He is survived by his grandchildren Marc Quirion, Patric Quirion, Kyla Jaquish, RJ Rotunno, Kristine Rotunno, Kassidy Rotunno, Gianna Guidice, Sara Guidice and Nora Guidice. He is also survived by his brother Charles Jaquish Jr. and sister-in-law Claire of Irasburg and sisters Jackie Jaquish of Morrisville and Janet Chadwick of Waterbury along with several nieces and nephews.
A graveside burial will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lamoille View cemetery in Johnson, Vt. with the Rev. Francie Prive officiating.

Harold Edward "Red" Kelley, Jr
....show , of Brownington, VT passed away suddenly on September 8, 2016 in Portland, Maine. He was born on May 18, 1940 in Newport to Harold and Gladys (Shackette) Kelley, Sr.
Red was a supervisor for Newport Plastics and later was a bus driver for North Country Union High School.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle and loved to travel to Old Orchard Maine. He was a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by her daughter Tammy Kelley and her companion Allen Marsh of Brownington, VT, by his grandchildren: Justin Lamonda of Newport, VT, Brandie Parks and her husband Tim of Texas, Mandie Perry and her husband Luke of North Troy, Seanna Kelley and companion Shane Barry of Newport, VT, by his great grandchildren: Natalie, Armand, Heidi, Kallie, Kaleb, Shelby-Rae, Destiny, and Xavier.
He is also survived by his sister Joyce Ayer and her husband Dennis of Newport, VT, his nephew Michael Cordeau and his wife Lisa, his niece Kristy Pillsbury and her husband Jamie of Jay, and by great nieces, Allison and Beth and by many friends.

Mrs. Greta Cora Maxwell
....show , 89, of Newport, VT passed away on September 26, 2016 in Newport. She was born on January 26, 1927 in Orleans to Truman and Ada (Wills) Messier. On June 28, 1947 she married Dean Maxwell who predeceased her on November 5, 2005.
Greta was an office manager for Orleans Village where she retired in 1990 and previously was a bookkeeper for other businesses in the area. Her hobbies included gardening, watching the birds, doing puzzles, and going for rides.
Greta's life revolved around her family. She cherished the many family get togethers, be it the trips to the lakes, the county fairs, the family picnics or the gatherings. She greatly enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow and she was very proud of their many varied accomplishments. She will be sadly missed by all those whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her children: Connie Hartshorn and her husband Alan of Warren, VT, Norma Perkins and her husband Blaine of West Charleston, VT, Linda LaBounty and her husband James, Sr. of Derby Line, VT, Sally Maxwell of Derby, VT, Sandy Maxwell and her fiancé Peter Faust of Irasburg VT, Candy Mihill and her husband Cleve of Newport Center, VT, and Edmond Maxwell of Coventry, VT, by her grandchildren: Paula Brown, Henry Hartshorn, Tammy Kroyman, Angel Graves, John LaBounty, Jaimie Poginy, Namu Moulton, Toma Moulton, Gwyn Moulton, Ashley Wright, Heather St. Onge, Eric Maxwell, Evan Maxwell, Nikita Mihill, and Brandi Godin, and by 20 great grandchildren.
She is survived by her brother Bruce Messier and his wife Joanne of Ohio and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and by a sister-in-law Audrey Messier of Derby. She was predeceased by her brother Dale Messier.

Nancy was a graduate of Newport High School and life long resident of Newport. She had resided for a time at the Scenic View in Westfield, VT.
She is survived by her children: Rosalie Putnam of Coolville, Ohio, Eric McGivern of Newport, VT, and Keith McGivern of Derby, VT. She is also survived by her grandson Christopher Putnam of Spencer, West Virginia, by her sister Ellen Graveline of Derby, VT, and by her special friend Carolyn LaRock of Coventry, VT. Joyce Ellen (Jones) Poulin

Joyce was born to Guild and Ellen Jones in North Troy, Vermont on May 31, 1929.
In 1947, Joyce married Gaston Poulin, her loving husband of 69 years
who will greatly miss their shared life of simple pleasures. As they entered their senior years, Joyce and Gaston maintained an exceptional focus and devotion to spending time with family and friends. Joyce's stories, memories and laughter filled their home when their frequent visitors stopped by. Joyce and Gaston, much to the pleasure of their grown children, developed quite a fondness for the Boston Red Sox after their 2004 World Series win. Always ready to share a drink with her adult extended family or a hershey kiss with her great-grandchildren, her love and kindness knew no limits.
Joyce was pre-deceased by her parents, Guild and Ellen Jones, by her sisters, Wilda Smith and Jennie Mae Louis and her grandchild who always held a very special place in her heart, Shawn Stephen Poulin.
Joyce will be deeply missed by her children, Steve Poulin and his wife Valerie of Derby, Peter Poulin and his wife Diana of Newport, Jeffrey Poulin and his wife Tracey of Newport, and Nancy Poulin of Derby.
Joyce's grandchildren will profoundly miss her love. Her grandchildren are: Topher Poulin, Cory Poulin and his wife Julie, Sonya Jones and her husband Troy, Stephanie Estes and her husband Corey, Stephanie Delabruere, Josh Poulin and his wife Jen, Jenna Poutre and her husband Matt, Samantha Cole, Arden Leitheid, Johanna Bartley and her husband Travis and Jessica Poulin.
Joyce was adored and will be greatly missed by her many great grandchildren: Sydney and Ryder Poulin, Zoe, Tanner, Hattie and Slater Jones, Reilley and Colby Estes, Rhiannon, Traven and Kaden Rosamilia, Mya, Star, Quinne and Hudson Poulin, Jaida and Henry Poutre, and Madyson, Colton and Denver Bartley.

Ivy Yvonne Dabiri Sinclair
....show was born on April 17, 1926 in Tunapuna, Trinidad, the West Indies. She was the youngest of four children born to Lavinia Joseph Marshall and James Marshall, a merchant marine. Her siblings – Hubert, Pearl and Rodger -- pre deceased her.
In 1934 Her family immigrated to the United States and settled in Brooklyn. Ivy attended Girls Commercial High School and upon graduating obtained a position with the New York Telephone Company.
Ivy met and married Mustapha Dabiri, a Nigerian engineering student. There were three children born of their union - Michael (deceased), Gloria and Richard (deceased).
After the couple separated, Ivy enrolled in evening classes at Hunter College, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and in the 1960's taught secretarial science at Bay Ridge High School in Brooklyn. She thereafter obtained a Master's Degree in Education from Hunter College and joined the faculty of New York City Technical Collage as an Associate Professor in the Commercial Studies Department. As faculty adviser to the department's alumni association Ivy was instrumental in developing career enhancement training and employment opportunities for the department's graduates. She was loved and admired by her students who affectionately called her "Professor D". Ivy was overjoyed when several of her former student attended her 90th Birthday celebration in April,
In 1987 Ivy married George Sinclair, a jazz musician and technician at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. The couple soon retired and relocated to Cape Cod, Massachusetts where Ivy devoted her time to producing television shows for a local TV station, C3TV (Cape Cod Community Television), organizing and promoting jazz concerts, and accompanying George to his performances.
Following George's death and after suffering a stroke, Ivy moved to Vermont to live with her son Richard. She enjoyed walking along Lake Willoughby and spending time with her family and friends. Ivy passed away in Vermont in August of 2016.
Ivy leaves to morn her, her daughter Gloria, granddaughters Atinuke and Oluwakemi; cousin Irving; nieces Malinda, Sharon and Rosline; nephews Kevin, Bryan and Christopher; foster sisters Elizabeth, Cecilia,Lorraine , Zakia, Kathyand Mary Jane, and a host of adoring students and friends.
Marion Elsie Souliere
....show of lyndonville, Vermont passed away peacefully at the age of 63, on August 19, 2016. Marion was born and raised in Newport, Vt. on October 21, 1952, to the parents John C. Hinman and Marion Alma (Wallace) Hinman.
Marion and Robert (Bob) Souliere married on September 29, 1973. They lived in various places before they settled in lyndonville in February 1982, where they raised their three beautiful children, enjoying life to the fullest.
Marion took much pride in being a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was always involved and attending her children's athletic, school or social events throughout all her years and definitely was their #1 fan. Marion always supported her husband in his professional career and all of his coaching positions throughout the years. She truly took so much pride and joy in her family, they meant everything to her. Hosting family holidays was so special to her. Her passion and commitment as a mother and grandmother continued on as she supported her 7 grandchildren in their daily lives and events.
Marion also had here own business for many years, Wholesome Health. She loved taking care of people. Marion was a social, active woman deeply involved in many activities. She enjoyed social gatherings with her family and friends, knitting (many, many gifts to many people), golfing and collecting various types of antiques.
Marion and Bob purchased a second home in The Villages, Fl. in 2008. It was there she rediscovered her passion for billiards. She participated in many leagues and was recruited to join several elite teams. She loved her time in The Villages, where she made some amazing friends, loved entertaining and enjoyed many activities offered there.

She was predeceased by her father, John Carlton Hinman and mother, Marion Alma Hinman, of Newport, Vt.
Marion will always be remembered by her bright blue eyes, her charismatic smile that would light up any room and her loving and caring heart. Her family and friends will always remember her as a friendly, welcomin& loving person who everyone loved and respected. We will truly miss her, very much!

Annette was a former member of the Newport Country Club, and the Rocky Ridge Country Club in Hinesburg, VT. She was an avid sports person playing squash, tennis racquetball, and she was very competitive.
She is survived by her husband Marcel St. Onge of Derby, VT, by her children: Donald St. Onge of Shelburne, VT, Michel St. Onge and his wife Beverly of Hinesburg, VT, and Richard St. Onge and his wife Ann of Underhill, VT. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Joshua St. Onge and his wife Ali, Kimberly Cherrier and her husband Eddie, April Andreasen and her husband Nick, Dakota Siple and her companion Chip Tinker, Jeana St. Onge and her companion Eric Kingsbury and Eliza St. Onge, 7 great grandchildren and by several nieces and nephews. ....show , passed away on August 29, 2016 in Newport at the age of 86. She was born June 15, 1930 to the late David and Phoebe (Simino) Mason. On August 9,1948 she married Paul Stone, Sr. who predeceased by her on October 22, 2010 after 62 years of marriage
She leaves behind her daughter, Elizabeth (Skip) Wright and her companion Merrill Crawford of Troy, VT. Also her Son Paul Jr, and his wife Gaetane of Newport Center, VT. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Lorianne and her spouse Paul Pion, Lucy and her spouse Steve Dobler, Paula and her spouse David Lamadeleine, Alvin, Amy and her spouse Keith Deavitt , Buffy, Hiedi and her spouse Scott Rappold and Betsy and her spouse Mike Purvis.

Over the years she did many crafts, loved cooking and doing for her children. Her best enjoyment was feeding and baking for everyone in the family and friends. ....show passed away on a sunny morning, September 1, 2016 among family and her Forest Hill Residential Care Home friends.
Marion was born November 9, 1922 to Clement and Mary Taylor in Irasburg. She attended one room schools in Glover and Albany until high school in Newport. She attended Lyndon Normal School (now Lyndon State College) and the University of Vermont. Marion's forty year teaching career included one room schools in Albany and Glover as well as Barton and Orleans Elementary Schools before going to teach at the Molly Stark School in the Bennington School District. Her last teaching assignment was St. Paul's School in Barton.
Beyond that, Marion was a lifelong volunteer and held multiple memberships in organizations within her community, state and church. To name a few, American Legion Auxiliary, Johnson Food Shelf, Delta Kappa Gamma, Retired Teachers, and The Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish. She always maintained that it was because "she had the time" that she took up the baton to get things done when she determined a need.
Travel is synonymous with leisure for most people. Marion's travels were events of pilgrimage to the Holy Land, Rome, France, Ireland, and Montreal as well as national and state conventions working for retired teachers and AARP.
Marion is survived by her brothers, Adelord and his wife, Lois of Barton and Richard of West Glover, sister-in-law, Betty of Johnson and three generations of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Wilfred, Preston and Edwin, sisters-in-law, Theresa and Helen and nephews, Dennis Taylor and William Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Marion to the Johnson Food Shelf, P.O. Box 17, Johnson, VT 05656. Marion was instrumental in developing the Johnson Food Shelf some twenty odd years ago to help reduce, if not eradicate hunger in our community. She volunteered there until 2015 when ill health prevented her from continuing.
Special thanks to the staff at Forest Hill Residential Care Home where she was well taken care of for the last eleven months of her life. They truly made that house a home for her.

Marie Anne C. (Guertin) Turcotte
....show , age 73, passed away at home surrounded by her family and friends on September 8th, 2016 in Newport, VT.
She was born on February 23, 1943 in Attleboro, Massachusetts to Edward and Bernadette (Collard) Guertin.
She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School in North Attleboro and transferred to Jesus Mary Academy in Fall River, Mass where she graduated in 1960. Several months after graduating from high school in Fall River, Marie entered the Order of the Religious of Jesus and Mary in Hyattsville, Maryland taking her vows as Mother St. Julia Marie. After a few years in the order, Marie decided to leave as she believed God had a better plan for her.
On August 16, 1969, she married Normand P. Turcotte at Sacred Heart Church in North Attleboro, MA. They lived in the Attleboro area for 4.5 years before moving to Newport, VT in 1974.
Marie was a devout Catholic and communicant of St. Mary's Star of the Sea Church in Newport, VT. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Circle #313 for more than 30 years.
Marie had numerous jobs throughout the years, the most recent were as a clerk/bookkeeper at Orleans Office Products and as administrative assistant at Gene Besaw & Associates where she retired in 2008.
She loved to spend time with her family and she encouraged and supported her daughters and grandchildren in any activities they became involved in. Admittedly she was not a sports fan but you could always expect to see her on the sidelines cheering them on.
Marie was a committee member of the Boy Scouts Troop #804 in Newport and later Troup #821 in Westfield. She encouraged and supported her grandson Dominick Turcotte from the Tiger level of the Cub Scouts all the way to his presentation of the Eagle Scout Award in 2014.
She was an accomplished seamstress having sewn her own wedding gown and those of her bridal party. She also sewed many outfits for her daughters over the years including their prom dresses.
Marie also had artistic and creative talents as evidenced by her artwork in our homes as well as other creations. In recent years she enjoyed coloring in her adult coloring books, word search puzzles, and she was an avid reader. She also enjoyed watching her cooking programs. Her culinary talents were greatly appreciated by family and friends.
Marie is survived by her loving husband, Normand. They were married for 47 years. She leaves behind two daughters: Lynne Leitch and her husband Jamie of Holland,VT and Lisa Turcotte-Thomas and her partner Ken Larocque of Barton, VT. Four grandchildren: whom she loved dearly, Dominick Turcotte and his partner Samantha Mason, Daniel Thomas, Katie Leitch, and William Larocque. She was predeceased by her infant son, Normand P. Turcotte, Jr. in 1976. and her brother Paul A. Guertin of Salt Lake City, Utah.
She leaves her sister Jeanne (Michael) Goulet of Falmouth, Ma., Maurice (Dorothy) Guertin of Herndon, Va., her Aunt Terry Guertin of Stuart, Fl. and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be a Celebration of Life at St. Mary's from 9-10:30am in the church followed by meditation hymns preceding the Mass. Interment will be following the funeral at St Mary's Cemetery in Newport. Friends and family of Marie may gather for a light luncheon following the service at the Gateway Center in Newport.

Janet Marie Wheeler
....show of Brownington, VT died peacefully on Monday, August 15 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, NH at the age of 64.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years; Alton Wheeler, her two children; daughter Janel Morehouse (Brett Morehouse) of Sutton and son David Young (Amanda Zay) of Morrisville, six grandchildren; Tucker Morehouse, Brianna Morehouse, Sage Morehouse, Madison Young, Noah Young, and Caden Young, a great granddaughter Everly Morehouse, and her three siblings; Charlotte Broome, Barry Piercy and David Piercy all from New Jersey.
She was born on October 12, 1951 in Plainfield New Jersey to George and Charlotte Piercy. She graduated from Toms River High School in New Jersey. She relocated to Browington, VT in 1971 and was a mother and homemaker for many years. She loved children and offered daycare services for several years. She worked at Maple Lane Nursing Home. She worked at Brownington Elementary and Jay Westfield Elementary Schools in various roles. She began working at Citizen Utilities in 1996 which was later acquired by Vermont Electric Co-op where she retired in 2013. During retirement, she knitted hats for newborn babies at the Newport hospital.
Janet touched many lives with her warmth and kindness. She enjoyed many things in life including knitting, reading, going to craft fairs, sowing, flower gardens, 4-wheeling, site-seeing, going for Sunday rides, puzzles, and hummingbirds. She truly enjoyed the tranquility of the ocean and all its sounds.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Monday, August 22 at St. Theresa Perish Hall in Orleans at 4pm with a reception to follow. We invite all to attend to share stories and photos. Janet was always up for a good story and a good laugh.

Richard Alan Falconer
....show , age 63, of Troy, passed away at the North Country Hospital in Newport Wednesday evening, October 12, 2016 surround by his family.
Richard was born in Newport on May 3, 1953, son to the late Raymond and Emily (Wormsley) Falconer. He began driving at the young age of 14 and continued to be a truck driver for all of his life. Most recently he worked for Ivan and Marlene Maxwell of Derby.
Richard was a simply man, he didn't like things too complicated, he liked things short, sweet and to the point. He enjoyed spending time riding his Harley Davidson and at camp in Westfield.
Richard is survived by his three children: Brett Falconer (Blake Leighton) of Troy, Rhonda Mayhew (Stacey) of Newport Center, and Chad Falconer (Dawn) of Lowell; twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by many siblings, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Richard's life will take place on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Degree Auction Services located at 1571 VT-100 Westfield, VT. The family has asked that anyone with a motorcycle or truck meet at D & C Transportation in Orleans at 2 p.m. to ride in procession to the celebration.

Shirlene Leah Geoffrey
....show , 71, of Newport Center, VT, passed away on Sunday, October 9th, 2016 at her home.
She was born on September 8th, 1945 in Newport, VT. She was the Daughter of the late Leo and Germaine (Tetreault) Willey.
She attended Sacred Heart High School and graduated in 1963. She then attended the Thompson School of Nursing in Brattleboro, VT.
She married Raymond Geoffrey on October 5th, 1968 who predeceased her in May of 2016.
Mrs. Geoffrey worked as an LPN for her entire life. She worked at health facilities in Springfield, VT, Alaska, Colorado, and finally back to North Country Hospital for 33 years where she retired in 2014.
She enjoyed painting, ceramics, knitting, crocheting, gardening, baking cookies for her friends. She also spent 2 years in Alaska with the Inuit through the Vista Peace Corp Group.
She is survived by her children, Heath Geoffrey and his companion Stacey Gosselin of Derby Line, Heather Geoffrey of Newport Center, and Jarrod Geoffrey and his wife Dawn of Ashville, NC. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Hanna, Jacobs, Pride, Ronan, and Grace Geoffrey, 2 brothers, Leo Willey and his wife Rachel of Newport, Keith Willey and his wife Melanie of Newport Center, and by her sister Darlene Geoffrey and her husband Marcel of Newport. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband Raymond, and by her Brother Neil Willey.

Lucy Ellen Holland
....show , 95, of Derby Line, VT passed away on October 10, 2016 in Newport. She was born on July 17, 1921 in Baltimore, Maryland to Samuel and Maude (McNeil) Hart. On November 10, 1942 she married Francis E. Holland who predeceased her on February 8, 1988.
She was a member of the Derby Community Church and the Stanstead South United Church. Her real focus was her family.
She is survived by her children: Judith Bairstow and her husband Jeffrey of Sabastian, FL, Thomas Holland and his wife Meredith of Delmar, NY, by her daughter-in-law Michele Barkett Holland of Acton, MA, three grandchildren: Caedmon Avery Holland of Delmar. NY, Mellisa Margaret Holland and Emily Ellen Holland of Ayer, MA, by her great grandson John Carey Thompson lV, by her sister Elizabeth Champion of Tucson, AZ, by her nephew Robert Lee Champion, and by her niece Leina Ann Champion. She was predeceased by her son David Neil Holland on July 19, 2016.

....show , October 2, 2016 in Melbourne Beach, Fl. after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born on May 23, 1952 in Colchester, Vt. the daughter of her late parents Curtis A. Jacques and Lucienne M. (LeGrand), East Kingston, Nh. She grew up in Derby and Westfield, Vt. and graduated from North Country High School, Class of 1970.
Her twenties found her spirited, fearless, adventurous and full of life. She traveled through Europe, spent a year in New Zealand and Australia and lived in the northeastern states of Vt., Ma., Nh., Me., and Ri. collecting friends and families that she held close to her throughout her life. She settled in Melbourne Beach, Fl. in November, 2003, where she spent the remainder of her years.
A great passion, talent, and love surrounded her life's work in the food industry as she acquired her Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts & Marketing at Johnson and Wales, Ri. She worked tirelessly at being the best that she could be and joy came from the smiles and gratitude she received from her ministry of spreading her culinary gifts to thousands of people she reached over the years.
Suzanne was a great daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by seven siblings: John Jacques, wife Deborah , Tucson, Az. ; Jeannette Jacques, Nashua, Nh.; Dianne Cook, husband Greg, Rutland, Vt.; Anne Press, husband Michael, No Name Keys, Fl.; Curt Jacques, wife Sharon, Lebanon, Nh.; Dennis Jacques, wife Tami, Lizella, Ga., and; Michael Jacques, wife Pauline, East Kingston, Nh., and by 22 niblings, and four great niblings. She was predeceased by her father, Curtis A. Jacques and her mother, Lucienne M. (Legrand).
Funeral services and a Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Ministries Community Church, 263 NH-125, in Brentwood, NH followed by refreshments for family and friends. Carol Ann Judd
....show , 71, of Charlestown, NH died peacefully on October 4, 2016 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH after courageously battling a long illness. She was born in Burlington, VT on February 28, 1945 the daughter of Roswell and Hazel (Malone) Stearns. Carol worked part-time in healthcare settings over the years and enjoyed a number of activates, including the family genealogy and was extremely proud of returning to school to obtain her degree in psychology. However, far and away her greatest enjoyment was always spending time with her children and their families, as well as being a homemaker. Carol is survived by her children, Mary Fox and her husband, Mark of Chicago, IL, Laurie Judd of Charlestown, Jim Judd and his wife, Lara of Claremont, Deb Dings and her husband, Matt of Claremont, Tim Judd and his wife, Rowena of Apopka, FL and Renee Richards and her husband, Jeff of Charlestown; a daughter-in-law, Mary Judd of Claremont; 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Leland Judd Sr., whom she married on June 20, 1962; and a son, Leland "Skip" Judd Jr. who both passed away in 2010. Carol requested that there be no services and only wished for a private ceremony where she will be laid to rest in Newport Center, Vermont with her parents. David Kenneth Kelley
....show of Derby Line, Died October 15, 2016 due to a hemorrhagic stroke.
He was born on January 21, 1945 to Winston and Miriam (Poots) Kelley in Newport, Vt.
After graduating from high school, he worked for his father, then attended Champlain College. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force on July 15, 1965. He married Jane Ellen Willey on November 12, 1966. In 1988, he retired from Air Force with 23 years of service, at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant (E8). During this time he was awarded a combination of 34 medals and ribbons. He proudly served his country overseas in Vietnam, Spain, the Netherlands as well as six state side bases, including Alaska.
He then worked for the Immigration and Naturalization Service while living in Essex Junction, Vt. prior to moving back to Derby Line.
He very much enjoyed his children and taking family vacations to Europe and the USA. In Derby Line he assisted his wife with their home daycare for 16 years, in the house his parents built. He enjoyed using computers, hunting, fishing, gardening, eating out and feeding the birds and wildlife. His hobbies also included an extensive collection of cribbage boards and Budweiser beer steins. David was a volunteer with the Charleston Historical Society, becoming vice president. He loved reading novels, especially westerns. He was actively involved in getting classmates to go to Derby Academy High School reunions.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jane Kelley (Willey) of Derby Line; his brother Dennis of Derby Line; two children: Deborah and her husband Paul Hazelton, of East Brookfield, Ma., and Tamara Kelley of Colchester, Vt.; four grandchildren; Samantha, Seth, Anna and Nicholas Hazelton, of East Brookfield, Ma. and by on great grandson, Blake Simons of Spencer, Ma.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at the Derby Line Village Cemetery. A celebration of David's life will be held following the service at the Eastside Restaurant and all are invited for a lunch and time with the family.
James Sherman Masson
....show was born February 9, 1921 in McAdam, New Brunswick. He was the son of Lula (Phillips) and George Masson and husband of the late Elizabeth (Betty or Lizzie) Filby. He graduated from McAdam Composite High School in 1938. At the time, he was too young to join the Air Force so he completed a machinist course in Moncton, N.B. At age 19, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). James served as a Sgt. in care of the Boomers and Gunners Armaments Division. He met Betty while stationed at Mossbank, Saskatchewan and they were married on NewYearís Eve, 1943, at the United Church in Ochre River, Manitoba. They enjoyed 71 years of married life together.
After World War II, they settled in McAdam, N.B, and raised three children, Marlene (Dalley) (husband Angus), Ottawa, Ontario, Lawrence, Toronto, Ontario and Robert (Bob) (wife Betty Ann Yetter), Newport, Vermont. He was employed by the Canadian Pacific Railway Supplies Division which stocked and distributed supplies for trains and buildings. He began his career in McAdam, transferred to Sherbrooke, Quebec when train transportation declined and consequently to Newport, Vermont; the town where he settled after retirement with his family.
James was very active in his community and enjoyed sports. In McAdam, N.B. he served as a Deacon at the Rockland Drive United Baptist church, Superintendent of Sunday School programs, member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Grand Master of Ashlar Masonic Lodge, and a member of the school and hospital board. In Quebec, as president, he was awarded a Lifetime Membership to the Border Curling Club, Beebe, Quebec. James was the team Skip for many years, leading them to victory on numerous occasions. Additionally, he bowled regularly in leagues at Ayresís Cliff, Quebec and Newport, Vermont well into his 90th year.
He was a member of the Newport Community Circle, Forever Young Club, Newport Baptist Church and several bowling leagues. His interests included carpentry, wood working, gardening, hunting, fishing, card games and his family. He loved to dance and was a great dancer; the envy of many.
His brother, George Alfred Masson (1919 -1993) of Stoney Lake, Ontario predeceased him. Often James was his guide in New Brunswick woods during deer hunting season.
He leaves behind three children, Marlene, Lawrence, and Robert (Bob). He was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren of Newport, Vermont and Ottawa, Ontario - Robert Masson Jr. (wife Arla), Andrew Dalley (wife Cecilia), Jennifer Masson (husband Rick Morin), Michael Dalley (wife Alana) and Darlene Masson (husband Patrick Haugwitz), and twelve great grandchildren - Hunter and Kaitlyn Masson (Robert), Maeve and Lydia Dalley (Andrew), Christopher, Riley and Gabriel (twins) Morin (Jennifer), Baron, Stuart and Mira Dalley (Michael) and Alex and Sophie Haugwitz (Darlene).
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday October 22, at the East Main Street Baptist Church in Newport with the Rev. David Lisner officiating. Interment will take place at the McAdam, New Brunswick Cemetery at a later date. Wendle L. Mosher
....show , 85, a life-long resident of Ayer's Cliff, Quebec, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 22, 2016 in Magog surrounded by his family. He was born on June 23, 1931 in Boynton, Quebec to Lawrence & Ruth (Rever) Mosher.
He was a farmer his entire life and a true horseman. He loved dealing in cattle & horses and owned hundreds throughout his lifetime. He also loved racing Standardbreds for a span of over 50 years. He knew horses inside & out. Working in the woods with a team of horses always made him smile.
He was extremely hard working and his family meant the world to him. He would light up anytime there was a baby around. He was a proud father and grandfather. Wendle also had a special relationship with his uncle Kenneth Mosher who passed away in 2009.
He is survived by his four children. His wife Rose-Marie and their two daughters, Hollie (Terry) Mosher of Ayer's Cliff, Quebec and Lee (Luke) Mosher of South Stukley, Quebec, and two sons, Casey (Tammy) Mosher & Todd (Danielle) Mosher and their mother Anna Forbes, all of Derby, Vermont. He is also survived by his six grandchildren Alex, Brianna, Brian, Madison, Cash and Knight, and one great-granddaughter Sophie (Brian). Surviving siblings are Sis, Dewey, Ruby, Hilda and Larry. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Colon Mosher and his nephew Dale Mosher.

Robert "Bob" Nadeau, Jr
....show , 60, of Coventry, VT, beloved husband of Shirley (Blanchard) Nadeau. Passed away at the University of Vermont Medical Center on Saturday, October 22nd, 2016.
He was born on November 19th, 1955, in Ipswich, MA to Robert and Priscilla (Sweeney) Nadeau.
On May 8th, 1996, he married Shirley Blanchard who survives him.
He was the owner of R. Nadeau Jr. Metal Salvage.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling to the ocean, boating, watching football (especially the New England Patriots), and NASCAR.
He is survived by his wife, and by his children, Lewis Nadeau, and Casey Nadeau both of Coventry, a grandson, Jack Janci of Coventry, a brother, Ronald Nadeau of Rowley, MA, Sisters, Karen Comeau of Ipswich, MA, and Kim and her husband Ken Cotreau of Beverly, MA, God daughter, Katelyn Comeau of Campton, NH, aunts, Ann Barkclay of Seabrook, NH, and Theresa Jensen of Ipswich, MA, , uncle Charles Nadeau of Coventry, and also by many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Michael Comeau.

Hyde Park - Lawrence Burton "Peanut" Royer
....show went home to be with his Lord after a long battle with cancer surrounded by his loved ones. He passed at home on October 5, 2016 at the age of 69.
Larry is survived by his mother, Norine Bishop Royer of Coventry, VT; his loving wife, Heidi Beaton Royer; his children, Bethany Royer of Johnson; Lorin Royer of Eden Mills; and Zeke Royer and girlfriend, Rayghen Fitzgerald; his grandchildren, Jayden Elkins-Royer, Shane Royer, Mercedes Royer-Adams and Natalie Royer; also Samantha Royer. his siblings, Sandy Poutre and Phil Poutre of Coventry; Ken and Claire Royer of North Carolina; Bev and Ken Hall of Irasburg; Theresa and Bruno Perrault of Newport Center and Maryanne Royer and her partner, Roy Barry of Coventry. His in-laws, Hazel Morley of Orleans; Robin Beaton of Brownington and Vickie and David Obomsawin of Orleans Vermont. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Berton Royer and brothers, Jared Whitcomb and James Leon Royer.
Larry was born in Irasburg, Vermont on January 4, 1947. He was the son of Berton and Norine Royer. One of seven children, Larry was in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969. He proudly served in the Vietnam War and heroically paid the price. He was a dedicated earth construction supervisor for many different companies over his life. Larry loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. He truly enjoyed this time spent with his family by his side. One of his joys was sharing time deer hunting with the Royer boys at the family hunting grounds. He loved to golf and had been a member of Copley Country Club for over 30 years. His greatest accomplishment was providing a loving homestead in Hyde Park for the last 38 years for his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He could be seen on the sidelines of many of his children and grandchildren's games. In the words of his grandson, Jayden Elkins-Royer, "He was a warrior and a real man that loved his family, he would put himself before anyone and sacrifice anything for the ones he loved. He was kind, gentle, but also hard as nails." He will be dearly missed by all.

Lionel Sicotte
....show , 82, of Derby passed away on Friday October 14, 2016. He was born in Ste. Hyacinthe, Quebec on June 22, 1934. He was the son of the late Auguste and Florina (Tetreault) Sicotte.
He moved to Westfield, Vt. in 1940 where he worked and operated a dairy farm along with family members. The farm was sold in 1958 and he moved to Newport, Vt.
One of his great passions was playing the violin along with his sister Jeannine on the piano and his brother Johnny on the drum.
He attended Newport Center High School and graduated from Champlain College with an Associates Degree in Business.
Upon graduation he moved to South Burlington, Vt. There he worked for many years selling real estate for the Allen Agency in Burlington, Vt. In 1985 he, along with his brother Johnny Sicotte, bought the "Pierre Motel" in Barre, Vt. The motel was sold in 2000 and he moved to Derby, Vt. and worked at the Newport Country Club for several years.
He was a devoted brother and uncle to his family, nieces and nephews and a member of St Mary's parish in Newport, Vt.
Lionel is survived by his sister Jeannine Sicotte of Derby Line. His nephews Richard Sicotte and wife Linda of Rocky Hill, Ct., Raymond Sicotte of Colchester, Vt., Reynold Sicotte and wife Francine of Newport, Vt., Marc Sicotte and wife Gail of Lowell, Vt. and Sylvain (Fred) Sicotte and wife Sandi of Colchester, Vt. and several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister Suzanne Sicotte, his brother Johnny Sicotte, his brothers and sister-in laws, Guy and Marie Jeanne Sicotte and Albert and Helene Sicotte.

Eliane Quere Wellhoff
....show (1940 - 2016) - It is with a will as strong as the granite of her native land that Eliane has fought her battle against her life-robbing illness. Sadly, she will no longer fight, as she has left us with our flamboyant Autumn leaves and our sorrow.
Eliane was born in the war torn city of Brest, a strategically located military port in Brittany, a Celtic province at the very western tip of France. She lived there for the first 56 years of her life, and, then, moved with her husband to the Greater Boston area. 11 years ago they settled in the dream land of the Northeast Kingdom.
Eliane loved her adopted Country and Its people, but, deep down, her heart was in her native land. She often talked about her "Chère Bretagne". She lived in the US, but dreamed in Brittany. May the winds that blow over the Atlantic mercifully carry her ashes back to her roots.
Eliane is survived by her husband, Christian R., of North Troy, VT, his 4 children, Michael and Daniel of Newport Center, VT, Allen and his wife Miriam of Wood Ridge, NJ, and Susan Engel and her husband, Bob, of North Troy, VT, several grand children and a few great grand children, all living in the US; by her 2 sisters, Jeannette Roudaut and her husband François of Lilia Plouguerneau, France, and Monique Moince of Argenteuil, France, their children and grand children; and by several remarkable French people, young and not so young anymore, who had adopted Eliane as another Mother and affectionately called her Mamoune.

....show , a Daughter of Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, passed away after a recent change in her health condition on November 9, 2016 at Holy Cross Health Care, Manchester, NH at the age of 84. Sr. Yvette was born on September, 11, 1932 in East Hereford, Co Compton, Quebec. She was the daughter of Emmanuel Beloin and Rosa Adam.
Sr. Yvette professed her vows with her Religious Congregation on July 18, 1953. During her 63 years of religious life, Sr. Yvette served in various missions of the U.S. Province in Champlain and Morrisonville, New York, in Newport and Burlington, Vermont, and Colebrook and Littleton, New Hampshire.
Sr. Yvette dedicated her life of ministry in teaching, care of boarding students, work with the elderly in an assisted living facility and in administration. Whatever the call, she committed fully to that service, giving generously and whole-heartedly to the needs before her. Sr. Yvette also had a great love of nature and all creation; she took to the care of gardening with passionate interest.
Sr. Yvette was predeceased by her parents, seven brothers: Léon, Amédée, Louis, Eugène, Alcide, Arthur and Roger and two sisters: Marie Rose and Thérèse. She is survived by three brothers: Gérard of Coaticook, Qc, Ernest of East Hereford, Qc, and George of Coaticook, Qc and one sister: Léonie of West Stewartstown, NH and the Sister of her Religious Community.
A prayer service will be held on Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Mount Sacred Heart. Her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 12, 10:30 a.m. at Mount Sacred Heart, Littleton NH. Her burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary Cemetery, Newport Vt.

Clifford W. Berno
....show , 86, a former longtime resident of the Mad River Valley, passed away in the comfort of his home in North Troy on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. Born in Montpelier on May 28, 1930, he was the son of the late Wallace and Pauline (Farnham) Berno. On July 6, 1969, Clifford married the former Evelyn May (Wheelock) in Berlin. Evelyn passed away on December 14, 2006.
Clifford was a 1948 graduate of St. Michael's High School in Montpelier. He went on to work as sawyer at the former Newhall Mill in Middlesex before enlisting in the US Army and served his country during the Korean War. Following his discharge, Clifford worked with his father in the poultry business and then later for the Ward Lumber Co. in Moretown. Moving to Worcester Ma., he was employed as a machinist for several years before returning to Vermont, settling in Moretown, and working for the Sugarbush Ski Area and Mad River Glen Ski Area developing trails and building lift towers. In 1969, Clifford began work for the Vt. State Agency of Transportation as a truck driver for the District 6 Garage in Middlesex and later became the inventory manager there, retiring in 1987. Following his retirement, he and Evelyn have made their home in North Troy.
Clifford enjoyed fishing, going for long walks, vegetable and flower gardening and was a member of the North Troy American Legion Post 28.
Clifford is survived by his sister, Paula Berno of Barre; close friends in Newport and North Troy; as well as extended family.
Graveside services with military honors will be held this spring from Mountain View Cemetery in Moretown with a date and time to be announced. Harley Sam Bly
....show , 96, passed away in Newport on November 14, 2016.
He was born on September 6, 1920 in East Charleston, a son of Harley and Ethel (Holt) Bly.
He served in the United States Air Corps from 1942 to 1945 and during that time was shot down and captured by the German Army and held prisoner for several months. The complete story is in the November 2016 Northland Journal by Scott Wheeler.
Upon his return he married Muriel Webster on July 7, 1946, who predeceased him in 2004. Sam was a longtime installer and repairman for New England Telephone, from which he retired.
He enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycling, woodworking, and the view of Lake Memphremagog from his and Muriel's home on Middle Street.
He is survived by his children, Robert Bly and his wife Roxana Bailey, Tom Bly and his wife Peggy, Linda Bly and James Bly. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Max Bly, Jesse Bly, Hallie LaCroix and her husband John, Jared Stevens, Samantha Smego, and Matthew LePore, and by his great grandchildren, Kayden and Kyle LaCroix, Jalen and Kalli Rojas, Brianna Bly and Addison Smego.
He was predeceased by his brothers John, Joel, Edward, Richard and by his sister Alice Gonyaw.
Services and interment will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
John F. Brown
....show 82, of Barton died on November 2, 2016 in Newport, Vt. after a period of declining health. John was born July 5, 1934 in Burlington, VT the youngest son of E. Merriman and Marjorie (Ford) Brown. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1952 and the University of Vermont in 1956, and earned his Masters Degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1958.
On September 5, 1959 he married Marjorie A. Cross in Slatersville, RI. and went to work as a County Agricultural Agent in Worcester, Ma. His two daughters were born while they lived in Holden, Ma.
In October 1962 he moved to Barton and joined his father in the family business, now known as E. M. Brown & Son, Inc. He enjoyed his years at "The Mill" and the employees, friends and customers he dealt with daily. He always had a smile and a willingness to help anyone. He was also director of the Barton Chambers Apartments, Inc.
In 1980 he suffered a heart attack and retired but continued to help others with his many areas of expertise. John served as member of the Barton School Board, a Barton Village Trustee, on the Howard Bank Advisory Board and as Treasurer of the Barton Area Chamber of Commerce. He was one of the founders of the Barton Medical Clinic and its Treasurer, a member of North Country Hospital and Health Systems, and served on the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Alliance Board. He was a member of the Community National Bank Advisory Board.
His business knowledge also helped his work with SCORE and on the Town of Barton Loan Committee, as Treasurer of Welcome O. Brown Cemetery Association and St. Paul School Endowment Fund.
He was a Justice of the Peace and served on the Board of Civil Authority and was a director of Crystal Lake Falls Historical Association.
He was an avid Boston Red Sox and Bruins fan and had wonderful memories of his fishing trips to Canada especially seeing the Northern Lights, an experience he never forgot. John enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii and his many European vacations.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie and daughters Nancy and her husband Jon Aswad of Snoqualmie, Wa. and Deborah Brown of North Haverhill, NH. and two grandsons, Nicholas Aswad of Burlington and Connor Aswad of Winooski, a brother Dr. Edwin Brown and his wife Patricia of Mechanicsville, Va. and sister-in-law Ba Brown of Houston, Tx, several nieces, nephews, cousins and his much loved cat Rascal.
He was predeceased by his parents E. Merriman and Marjorie Brown and Stepmother Lucy Brown and brother Robert Brown.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 7, at l:00 p.m. at the Barton United Church with a private burial at a later date at the Welcome O. Brown Cemetery. Francis G. (Frank) Dietz
....show , 92, of North Troy passed away after a brief but painful illness on Sunday, November 6, 2016. Frank was born on March 5, 1924 in New Ulm, Minnesota, the third of seven children of the late Henry A. and Esther (Renner) Dietz.
After finishing high school, Frank entered the Army Air Force and served through the duration of World War II. He studied for his teaching degree on the GI Bill at the University of San Francisco and later obtained his Masters in Education. He married Sarah (Marie) Barr on April 11, 1953 and together they had six children to whom they devoted their lives.
After teaching some years in the Lagunitas School District in the San Francisco area, Frank and Marie moved with their then four children to Taftsville, Vermont in 1961. Frank taught first at Woodstock Elementary School, and then in Perkinsville and Ascutney, Vermont. Frank loved teaching and was known to be strict, but fatherly to his pupils. He retired from teaching in 1987.
After his retirement, Frank and Marie moved to North Troy, Vermont. Frank volunteered at the Bel–Aire Nursing Home in Newport for many years, providing entertainment for the people there and being named "Volunteer of the Decade". Frank also served on the Rand Memorial Library Board in North Troy for many years. He was a Civil War buff and attended the monthly dinner meetings of the Civil War Round Table.
Frank's continuing care for children was evident in his retirement when he took on the responsibility of being guardian ad litum for children in the family court in Newport, Vermont, a responsibility he exercised for a number of years.
Frank was a passionate gardener and proudly produced vegetables enough for his family and others. He enjoyed sports and was an enthusiastic and long-suffering Red Sox fan.
Frank was a life-long faithful Catholic whose faith in Jesus Christ and devotion to the Blessed Mother sustained him throughout his life. He was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in North Troy, where he served on the Parish Council. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over thirty years and was active in their Troy Council.
Above all, Frank loved his family. He was preceded in death by his wife Marie, his parents, his brother Jerry and his sisters Marion and Joan. He is survived by his daughters Mary Theresa (Jeff) of Tucson, Arizona, Margaret (Sr. M. Roberta, MC) of Brooklyn, New York, Gretchen of Boston, Massachusetts, Kathleen of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Bridget (Lonny) and their children, Daniel, Nicholas, Matthew, Molly, Ethan and Samantha, of Fairbanks, Alaska, and his son, Francis (Julie) and his children, Malik, Cameron and Derik, of Fairfax, Virginia, his sister Dorothy, his brothers Richard and John (Jane), and numerous nieces and nephews. He is likewise survived by his two loving caregivers, Gail Thompson and Diane Bartlett, to whom Frank's family wishes to express great gratitude for their devoted and dedicated care over the past 12 years.

Barbara Louise Frawley
....show , 91, well known resident of Derby, Vermont passed away peacefully on November 15, 2016 with her family by her side. She was born on September 29, 1925 in Newport to Robert and Dorris (Davis) Kilborn. On September 29, 1951 she married Kenneth Frawley who predeceased her on December 11, 1997.
Barbara graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Nursing. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega.
She was an avid member of various friendly and community activities including the After Five Club, Fortnightly Club, Board of Civil Authority, Gourmet Bridge Club, and regular Sunday night dinners with her friends.
Later in her life she opened the Yankee Peddler - a fabric shop in Derby, followed by her own antique store, Canterbury Antiques. which was run out of her home built in 1800 - one of the very first houses built in Derby.
Some of her most memorable attributes her family will remember her by are walking her dogs on a daily basis, making sure nobody mows the lawn besides herself (even up through her last days) and being a quintessential pillar for her commuinty, family, and friends. She enjoyed being outdoors, birdwatching, going on picnics, and taking ice cream road trips. Barbara was also known for her ability to "bounce back" from adversities with a smile.
She is survived by her children: Nancy Gardyne and her husband William of Derby, Vt., Mary Jo Frawley of Huntington Beach, Ca., Sally Lafoe and her husband Dave Lafoe of Norton, Vt., and Daniel Frawley and his wife Michelle of Derby, Vt., and by her grandchildren: Marin Gardyne, Danielle Altenburg and her husband Paul, and Zack Frawley. She was predeceased by her sister Beverly Smith.

Richard Vernon Ingalls
....show , 92, of East Albany, Vt. Passed away on November 4, 2016 in Newport. He was born on March 15, 1924, In East Albany to Harlow and Ora (Decker) Ingalls. On December 29, 1984 he married Mary (Sanville) Morley Ingalls.
Mr. Ingalls was a dairy farmer all of his life. Richard's father died when he was four years old. He attended Orleans High School and later quit to help run the family farm. Richard bought two more farms later on and lived there until he was 77 years old and then moved up the road past the farm. He was very active in his community as the Justice of the Peace, he was on the committee for Farmer's Home Administration for 25 years, a member of the Agriculture Conservation Stabilization Service, the Albany Fire Department, Albany School Director for 11 years, 4-H Leader, and Albany Grange member. He loved nature and being in the woods fishing, hunting, and mowing his large lawns, right up until a couple of weeks ago. He also loved watching his birds and enjoyed feeding them.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ingalls, by his children: Dennis Ingalls and his wife Sherry, Tim Ingalls, Mark Ingalls and his wife Marie, Linda Lanou and her husband Doug, Wanda Lanou and her husband Lawrence, step children: Deb Dufresne and her husband Leonel, John Morley and his wife Donna, Mike Morley and his wife Amy, Bill Morley and his wife Lucie, Diane Atwood and her husband Jeff, by his eight grandchildren, 15 step grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 12 step great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, he is survived by his two brothers: Maurice Ingalls of Irasburg, Vt. and Harlow Ingalls of Santee, Ca., he was predeceased by his first wife Cecelia Morley in 1977 who he married in 1947, by a brother Pat Ingalls, and by his sisters: Helen Sanville, Arlene Ingalls, Alpha Labounty, and Fern Ukrijs. Gaston J. Lefebvre
....show , 87, passed away peacefully at his home in Derby Vt., November 21, 2016, surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Gaston was born January 13, 1929 in Stanstead, Quebec, as the fourth child of Elphage and Maria (Beniot) Lefebvre.
On June 10, 1950, Gaston and Rita (Veilleux) married and moved from Quebec to Holland Vt. to build their life together on a dairy farm while raising eight children. Upon retiring from their farm in 1979 they moved to Newport, Vt., owning and operating the White Cap Laundromat for 26 years.
In retirement, Gaston and Rita became snowbirds, enjoying Seminole Fl. for 27 winters making many friends while golfing, bowling, shuffle boarding and playing cards and continued their friendships and activities in the summer months at their home in Derby Vt.
Gaston's sense of humor brought laughter to many. He was known for his strong work ethic, strength of character, and always thinking of others.
Gaston is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rita Lefebvre; and by his children: Andre Lefebvre and wife Sherry, Morgan, Vt.; Robert Lefebvre and wife Mindy, Port Charlotte, Fl.; Ivan Lefebvre and wife Gerri, West Chesterfield, NH.; Son In Law, Bill Worth, Newport, Vt.; Denise Sykes and husband, Ken, Morgan, Vt.; Raymond Lefebvre and wife Diane, Laurel Md.; Mark Lefebvre, Milton, Vt.; Lynn Petry and husband Damian, New London, NH.
Gaston is also survived by 18 of his beloved grandchildren with their spouses; and 15 Great grandchildren.
Gaston was predeceased by his loving daughter, Sylvie Worth (2003), his parents, brother and two sisters, along with many others he valued in his lifetime.

He graduated from Newport Center High School. He was a dairy farmer all of his life on the family farm in Irasburg. His hobbies included hunting, fishing with Jim Greenwood, gardening, mowing his lawn and in his younger years square dancing with Joyce.

She was born on December 20th, 1955, the daughter of Lawrence and Dorothy (Durgin) Mason.
Connie loved animals, finding treasures at yard sales and in old buildings, she enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter fudge, and taking care of her home and family.
She especially loved her grandchildren which were her life. She had an open door policy and welcomed in anyone who showed up.
In her younger years she enjoyed going for motorcycle rides with her husband Rene.
She is survived by her husband Rene, her mother, Dorothy Mason, her two daughters, Lorie LaBounty and her husband James Jr., and Bobbie Jo Roberts-McManus and her husband Christopher, her grandchildren, Alex and Dustin LaBounty, Nicholas and Trevor Miller and Bailey McManus. Also by her Brothers Terry Mason and his wife Emma, Edmond Mason and his wife Laurie, and Craig Mason (who was more like a son) and his wife Stephanie, Sisters, Rebecca Lemieux and her husband Armand, Sherry Pion and her husband Richard, and Virginia Anderson and her husband Roy.
Besides her father she was predeceased by her sister Theresa.

Charles Moulton Wilson
....show , 89, of Brownington, Vt., passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the North Country Hospital in Newport.
He was born on February 17, 1927 in Newport, Vt. He was the son of the late Newell and Vera (Moulton) Wilson, and grew up working on their family farm on the Glen Road.
He married Dorothy Merriman on September 28, 1957 who predeceased him on November 15, 2013.
Charles worked as a sander for Ethan-Allen Furniture Company in Orleans for 28 years and later retired in 1989.
He enjoyed tinkering on cars, wood working, working in his sharpening shed in Glover, traveling and photography.
He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses in Newport.
He is survived by his three children, Joyce Norrie, of St. Johnsbury Center, Jonathan Wilson and his wife Marti of Brownington, Joseph Wilson and his wife Penny of Irasburg, his grand children, Marissa Gadapee of East Haven, Jesse Wilson and his wife Donna of Derby, Jamie Wilson and her fiancé James Margolla of Brownington, Danny Gosselin Jr of Orleans, Tiana Gosselin of Derby, Skyla Wilson and companion Brandon Hoose of Rapid City, SD, Naula Gosselin and companion Dakota Deslandes of Newport, Tucker Wilson of Irasburg, five great grandchildren, Damyin Gadapee, Kairi Gosselin, Mackenzie Gosselin, Axel Moses, Maizie Hoose. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Other than his wife he was predeceased by his brother Leland Wilson, his sister Sarah Miller and by his Son- in- law David Norrie.

Teresa Young
....show , 47 of Newport died on November 20, 2016. She was born on September 4, 1969 in Newport. On May 20, 1995 she married her beloved husband Carl Young.
Teresa was a dedicated wife, daughter, sister and friend. She loved the outdoors and all animals, especially horses. She had a beautiful smile and wonderful sense of humor. She loved being home with family and friends nearby, but looked forward to her yearly trips to Old Orchard Beach, Maine, and visits to her mother-in-law's home in Groveton, NH.
Teresa was employed at the Newport Health Center for 12 years. She worked in the laundry services and most recently in the kitchen.
She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and actively shared her faith with friends and neighbors.
She is survived by her husband Carl Young, of Newport and many family members and friends who loved her very much and will miss her greatly.

Frederick E. Allard
....show , 89, of Island Pond, Vt. passed away on November 26, 2016 in Lyndonville, Vt. He was born on May 16, 1927 in Island Pond to the late Peter and Deleda (Clouthier) Allard. Fredrick spent his teenage years in Montreal, PQ and attended St. Joseph's French Catholic School. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1947 and was a veteran of the Korean War from 1950-1952. On October 10, 1970 he married Gloria LaFountain who predeceased him on September 27, 2002.
During his lifetime he was a telephone installer. Mr. Allard enjoyed woodworking, carving totem poles, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of the American Legion Post 80 of Island Pond and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7779 of Morrisville.
He is survived by his twin brother Francis and his wife Luwina Dubois Allard of Island Pond, Vt., and by his step children: Tom Barry and Rolla Williams both of Belvidere, Vt.
Frederick is predeceased by his sister Pearl Perce.

Gail C (Colburn) Auger
....show (Dec. 23, 1948 - May13, 2016) Gail passed away suddenly at the age of 67 after a long struggle with C.O.P.D. She was born in Newport, VT the daughter of Blanche (Badger) and Maurice Colburn. In 1966 she married her soul mate Philippe Auger. Together they raised their only daughter Carleen. In November they would have celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Gail spent most of her married life doing the bookkeeping for P & G Trucking which Phil and Gail owned for over 20 years. She loved the outdoors spending time snowmobiling and riding ATV. She cherished the view from her kitchen in the house that she shared with Phil for 46 years. She spent all of her days in the company of her beloved dog Princess.
Gail loved to spend time with her family but none more than her grandchildren Taylor and Tanner. They were her pride & joy. She was very proud of the young adults that they have become.
Gail is survived by her husband Phil of North Troy, VT. Her daughter Carleen and Husband Eric Starr of North Troy, VT. Granddaughter Taylor Starr and friend Chase Locke of Randolph, VT. Grandson Tanner Starr of North Troy, VT. Her Brother's and Sister's Joyce Curtis, Cecile (Charlie) Randall, Dick (Diane) Colburn, Theresa (Richard) Bonvouloir and Beth Colburn. She is also survived by several niece's and nephew's. She was predeceased by her parents Blanch and Maurice Colburn, brothers Roy Colburn and Terry & Brenda Colburn and sister Marilyn Sweeney.

Phyllis Elaine (Whitehill) Burroughs
....show , 95, of Derby, VT passed away December 24, 2016 in Newport. She was born on August 11, 1921 in Orleans, VT, to Lucien Joel and Grace Alfreda (Brown) Whitehill.
She attended grade school in Morgan Schools, graduated from Derby Academy in 1939 and Lyndon Normal School in 1942. She taught schools in Irasburg, Holland and Barre, VT.
She married Rudolph Julian Burroughs on April 7, 1946 in Derby Line, VT. She lived in Derby most of her life. After her children were older she was a substitute teacher, and volunteered at the Dailey Memorial Library in Derby and later became librarian.
Among her hobbies she enjoyed making crafts, gardening, painting and reading. She was a member of the former Newport Women's Club, Home Dem, and the retired Teacher's Association.
She is survived by her children: Shirley Martineau of Colchester, VT, Nancy Boucher and her husband Irving of Essex, VT, Janet Fortin and her husband Conrad of Derby, VT, Cathy Day and her husband Terrance of Waterville, VT, Martha Friend and her husband Robert of Bristol, VT, and Stephen Burroughs of Clayton, N.C. 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and by her siblings: David Whitehill, Kenneth Whitehill, Anita Plummer, Norma Lemeiux, Barbara Whitehill, and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law Carly Whitehill, and brothers-in-law: Conrad Lemeiux and Reginald Plummer.

Bernard D. Butler
....show , 97, of Barton, VT passed away peacefully on December 14, 2016 in Barton. He was born on August 14, 1919 in Irasburg, VT to Arthur and Glenna (Huntington) Butler. On July 12, 1941 he married Shirley Kimball who predeceased him in 1997.
He served his Country during WWll and was stationed in France and Italy. All of his life he was a very hard worker. He was a farmer for many years on the Glover-Barton Road from 1953-1969, worked at Butler's Bus Service for a few years and then worked for Barton Motors for many years where he retired. He was also a transporter for the Area Agency on Aging in Barton area serving senior citizens for years.
He was a member of American Legion Post 76 of Barton.
He is survived by his son Willis Butler and his wife Sandra of Barton, VT; by his grandchildren: Sarah Butler-Collins, and Bernard Dana Butler and his wife Tammy; by his great grandchildren: Brandon Dana Butler and his companion Caitlin Jones, Keira Butler and Alyssa Butler. He is also survived by his brother Francis Butler and his wife Phyllis, and by his sister Florence Tillinghast and by 34 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by the following siblings: Arland, Faye, and Stanley, Pauline, Annette, Shirley, and Beatrice

Jesse Cannon Cartee Jr.
....show , 79, of Fairfield, Maine passed away peacefully in Waterville, Maine at Mt. St. Joseph's nursing home on Monday evening November 21, 2016. Jesse was born in Newport, Vermont and is survived by his brothers, Richard his wife Janet, Roger and his wife Janet, and Kenneth. He is also survived by nephews Peter, Jeffrey, Patrick, Tim and Seth Cartee, Steve, Scott and Roger Daggett, nieces Kim Daggett and Heather Sargent and several grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
He was predeceased by his parents Jesse Cannon Cartee Sr. and Madeline Vanier Cartee and a sister Beverly Daggett.
There will be no calling hours and graveside services will be held at a later date in Newport, Vermont.
James Anthony Chamberland
....show , 27, of Newport, Vt., "Jimmy" passed away December 22, 2016 at his home. He was born on July 8,1989 in St. Albans,Vt. .to Debbie Chamberland and John Szarek.
Jimmy received his GED and his high school diploma. He loved his rap music and even some country. He loved being with his family and friends, helping other people, and making people laugh as he had a great sense of humor. He especially enjoyed razzing his family as he loved his Yankees while the family are die hard Redsox fans. He enjoyed movies, working on his computer, phone and all electronics. He enjoyed playing cards especially poker. He loved animals especially his cat Tabby-as he would play fetch with her and enjoyed his dog Stax.
He is survived by his mother Debbie Chamberland of Brownington,Vt. He is also survived by his 9 year old daughter, and by his long time best friend and love of his adult life, Ashley Geoffroy and his " brothers" Mitch, Dillon, Rene, Jeff, Brian and Robbie. He is also survived by his uncle and aunt Eric and Crystal Carter of Newport, Vt., his uncle James Chamberland of Orleans, Vt., by his aunt Darline Chamberland, and cousins Sabrina Clark of Burlington, Vt., Ronnie Boutin Jr., Sabrina Carter, and Kaylee Boutin of Newport, Vt. And many true friends, old and new. He was predeceased by his uncle Steve Chamberland and his "brother" Dan Wing.
A celebration of his life will be held at New Hope Bible Church in Brownington Center, Vt., on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dan Prue Jr. Officiating.
Jennie R. (McAllister) Daley
....show , age 99, a resident of Tewksbury for over 70 years, passed away at home, with her family by her side, on Monday, November 28, 2016.
She was the beloved wife of Robertson M. Daley, who passed away on January 20, 1992.
Born in Newport, Vermont on April 29, 1917, she was the daughter of the late John R. McAllister and the late Belle L. (Davio) McLean.
Jennie moved to Tewksbury in 1946, where she and her late husband raised their family.
She was a member and past Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Tewksbury.
Jennie enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and donated numerous handmade afghan blankets to area fraternal and veteran's organizations as well as to area child care centers. In addition, she was an avid reader.
She will lovingly be remembered for her generosity, kind heart, and her warm and friendly personality.
Family members include her children, the late Eleanor L. Daley, Barbara J. Daley, Eileen L. Daley, James M. Daley, Rodger E. Daley, and Lawrence A. Daley and his wife Patricia all of Tewksbury, Dorothy Tynan and her husband Richard, and Linda Gagne and her late husband Gerard of Allenstown, NH, Jeanette Rudnicki and her late husband Richard of Brockton, the late Eleanor L. Daley, Frank D. Daley and his wife Jacqueline of Amherst, NH, Robert W. Daley and his wife Doris of Nashua, NH, and Daniel Daley of Wilton, NH; eight grandchildren, Kevin, Edward and Scott Daley, John and Frank Tynan, Barbara Tynan Cameron, Elizabeth Rudnicki Cordeiro, and Thomas Rudnicki; five great grandchildren, Matthew and Ryan Cordeiro, Hunter Daley, Sam Ros, and Andrew Cameron; close friends, Donald Fedukowski, and John Carr.

Lawrence O. Fontaine
....show , 96, of Derby, VT passed away on December 1, 2016 in Newport. He was born on October 21, 1920 in Beebe, VT to Albert and Aurore (Emond) Fontaine. On December 29, 1947 he married Gertrude Cheney who predeceased him on May 29, 2013.
He entered the United States Army and served his country during WWII. He was a foreman for the State of Vermont Transportation Department for over 20 years. After retirement he enjoyed working part-time hauling cars for local dealerships.
Mr. Fontaine was an avid outdoorsman. He loved being outside his entire life. His hobbies included woodworking, hunting, fishing, traveling and riding motorcycles. He was a former member of the American Legion Post 21 of Newport.
He is survived by his children: Dennis Fontaine and his wife Nancy of New Hampshire, and Laurie Fontaine of Newport, VT, by his daughters-in-law Patsy Fontaine of Ohio, and Betsy Fontaine of Norton, VT, by his grandchildren: Stephen J. Fontaine of Ohio, Melanie Walker and her husband David of North Carolina, Bryan and Adam Fontaine of Newport, VT, Sarah Fontaine of Beecher Falls, VT, Jacob, Jonathan and Jessalyn Walker of North Carolina, and Tyler and Gavin Fontaine of Ohio.
Lawrence is also survived by the following siblings: Dorilard Fontaine and his wife Georgette of Rochester, NH, Mary Jane Perkins of Bristol, CT, Lucille Patenaude of Westford, VT, Lionel Fontaine of Newport, VT, Anita Shorette of Bristol, CT, Helen Beauregard and her husband Robert of Essex, VT, and by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Gertrude, he was predeceased by his sons Stephen and Sherman, and his grandson Matthew; by his siblings Theresa Peterson, George Fontaine, Adellard Fontaine, and Angeline Fontaine; and by half brothers and sisters Yvonne Boivin, Midas Boivin, Felix Boivin, Jeanne Levesque.

Mr. Richard Jason Gidney
....show , age 76, passed away Tuesday evening, November 29, 2016 at the Bel Aire Nursing Facility in Newport. He was born in Montpelier March 16, 1940, son of the late Robert John and Europa L. (Herring) Gidney. Richard served in the U.S. Army for 6 ½ years in the Panama Canal Zone. He was employed in Administration at I.B.M. in Essex Jct., and later with Vermont Federal Bank. He was a member of the Blue Lodge #12, F&AM in Richmond and a 32 degree Mason with Mt. Sinai Temple #3 in Montpelier.
Richard loved traveling in New England, especially during the fall to see the foliage. He enjoyed his fireworks displays for his family and friends, going out for dinner, and being a practical joker. He was an avid sports fan for his great-nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for always being there for people, and being a very giving person, his love for cats, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his two sisters, a brother, a nephew, several nieces, grand-nieces and nephews. Also his special friends were Mark Hope and Roger Reilly. He was predeceased by his parents, and a special feline companion Nancy.

Roger V. Goodell
....show , 53, of Coventry, Vermont passed away suddenly on November 24, 2016 in Dartmouth-Hitchcock hospital. He was born on November 23, 1963 in Newport, VT, to Beverly Cleveland and Gayton Verge. On June 20, 2009 he married Christine Monteith. He is survived by his wife Christine Goodell, His Children Mariah Goodell, Shane Goodell, Roger Pare and Mathew Pare. His Siblings Burt Goodell and wife Laurie Goodell, Brenda Sherlaw and her Husband Doug Sherlaw , Leo Verge and his Wife Norma Verge, Marlin Stevenson, Gaytan Verge and Susan Roberge. His Grandchildren Paislee Bartley, Sophia Pare, Jameson Pare and many nieces and nephews. Roger was a Window Glazier for most of his life. His hobbies were hunting, camping and fishing. Roger loved spending time with his granddaughter Paislee she was the apple of his eye and he spent every second he could get with her. He had a heart of gold and loved doing things with his family. He worked hard for his family and was a stubborn man who had the biggest sense of humor you could find in a person. He was loved by many for his charm and goofiness. He could pretty much get away with anything he said would just smile after he said it. His favorite singer of all time was Johnny Cash he was always singing his tunes around the house and cried when Johnny cash passed away. Roger was a strong man who cared for his family to the best of his abilities. He will be greatly missed.

The Way I See It.
Since I can remember, my father's tool belt has been his second pair of pants.
He always ran aimlessly around the house trying to fix this or that.
Let's just say not much has changed!
I've watched my father go from building houses to putting in windows and always being busy,
but he always made time to be a good father.
His tough edge always wore off as he sat in my room for hours,
letting me do his hair or playing Barbie's.
Always making me laugh when I hurt,
or when he helped yank my first tooth.
Watching my father build reminds me of who he is
and why we are so much alike.

Helena Violet Hicks
....show , 94, of Newport, Vt., well known Executive Director of the American Red Cross, passed away peacefully December 14, 2016 in Newport with family at her side. She was born on February 23, 1922 in Newport to Ralph and (Lepha) Abel Gustin. In 1941 she married Earl Hicks who predeceased her.
She was a law enforcement officer for the Newport Police Department from 1954-1959.
Since 1959 Helena was Executive Director for the American Red Cross for many years. In 1979 she also became involved with FEMA and represented them as a disaster assistant specialist at many natural disasters over the years all over the United States and she also traveled to Guam covering floods, earthquakes, and hurricanes.
She and Earl had a camp on Lake Salem with her parents which they loved, for many years and they especially enjoyed going fishing. She loved her family and helping people. Helena was a member of Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Dana Malshuk and his wife Ronda of Newport, Vt., Kim Bryan and her husband Travis of Rutland, Vt. and Dennis Malshuk ll and his wife Donna of Newport, Vt., 11 great grandchildren: Ashley Malshuk, Abigail Jones, Andrew Malshuk, Allison Fletcher, Nicholas Malshuk, Desiree Malshuk, Mykayla Malshuk, Brianna Malshuk, Cody Bryan, Connor Bryan and Cameron Bryan Also by her son-in-law Dennis Malshuk of North Troy, Vt. She was predeceased by her daughter Carol Malshuk and her sister Celesta Britch.

Norbert G. Lessard
....show , 89, of Derby, VT, passed away surrounded by his loving family on December 9, 2016 in Newport. He was born on July 11, 1927 in North Troy to Henry and Anna (Fecteau) Lessard. On June 28, 1969 he married Rita (Midge) Risicato who survives him.
Norbert worked on the family farm in his younger years and farming was dear to his heart. He moved to Massachusetts in 1961 where he worked as a material handler for 15 years at the Colonial Press and 15 years at Weetabix both in Clinton, MA. He retired in 1992 and moved back to Vermont in 2004.
He attended Sacred Heart Schools and was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church.
Among his hobbies, he enjoyed camping, farming, loved cars, and going to the family farm. He loved to tease his nieces and nephews, had a great sense of humor, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Rita (Midge) Lessard of Derby, Vt; by sisters: Sister Henrietta Lessard, Jeannine Lessard, and Eleanor Test; and by his nieces and nephews: Irene Levangie, Denise and Tom Johnson, Thomas Lessard, Donald Lessard, Pat and Scott Laber, Susan Keysar, Tom and Mary Tetreault, Margaret and Mike Derick, Richard and Sue Tetreault, Kim Harrison Blackwell, Roger Lessard, Evelyn Lessard and David, Jim and Janet Lessard, Bobby and Dee Lessard, Eddie and Barbara Lessard, and Greg and Robin Lessard.

North Troy - Robert Bruce 'Bruce' McKay

In the early morning hours of November 24, 2016, Bruce passed away quietly at Maple Lane Nursing Home in Barton with family at his side. Bruce was 89 years old.
R. Bruce McKay was born in Boston, Ma. on November 22, 1927 at Lying-In Hospital. He was the first child of Myrtle Adams and Alexander Roy McKay.
As a child, Bruce lived in Quincy, Ma. before moving to Holden, Ma. when he was eleven years old. While there, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holden. After graduating from Holden High School, Bruce attended Wilbraham Academy, one of the fifteen oldest preparatory schools on the east coast. Bruce graduated from Eastern Illinois University, with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry.
In 1939, Bruce joined the Boy Scouts and eventually became Scoutmaster to Troop 182 in Holden, Ma.; a position he held for nearly two decades. He was happy teaching young scouts to explore and thrive in the outdoors with fellow scout leaders Herb Holmes, Al Court and Walt Koenig. Their rainy camping trips made for legendary stories.
Bruce also spent many years as a volunteer on the Holden Fire Department. As a high school student he gleefully left school whenever the siren rang as so many of the town's firemen were serving in WWII.
Near the end of WWII, Bruce enlisted in the Army Air Corp which became the US Air Force at the conclusion of the war, making Bruce a charter member of the US Air Force. He was stationed in Hawaii and in Guam earning the rank of Corporal.
Bruce worked in real estate with his father at A. Roy and R. Bruce McKay Real Estate before beginning his twenty-year teaching career at Westboro High School where he was genuinely fond of his students. After retiring from teaching, Bruce enjoyed working for the Environmental Protection Agency.
Among Bruce's many passions were hunting, fly fishing (tying his own flies) and photography; he studied at the Maine Photographic Workshop. Bruce loved to take road trips across the United States, to PEI, Canada and Scotland. Bruce enjoyed woodworking, creating wonderful nooks and crannies in his home, building unique and functional kitchen cabinets and crafting fun trinkets for his grandchildren. Bruce was also active in the Stepfamily Association of America. He was proud of his Scottish heritage and was a member of Clan MacKay, USA.
In 1995, following his retirement, Bruce moved to North Troy, VT. He was active on the North Country Union school board and he served as a town lister.
Bruce was a 32nd degree Mason, a past Master of Union Lodge #16 F&AM of Troy, Vt. and Deputy District Grand Master of the 10th Masonic district composed of seven lodges in the Northeast Kingdom.
Bruce was preceded in death by: his first wife, Jean Court (deceased 1961), his son, David Bruce McKay, his son-in-law, Peter Brewer and granddaughter, Courtney LaFrance.
Bruce is survived by Anne Clowes of North Troy, Vt., his beloved wife of 54 years with whom he raised their children. Bruce leaves three sons: Donald McKay and wife Sherri, of Montague, Ma., Scott McKay and his partner Wendy Ong, of Cambridge, Ma., and Keith McKay and his wife Christine, of Los Angeles, Ca. He is also survived by four daughters: Linda Brewer, of Rutland, Ma., Judith Lowry, of Ozark, Mo., Jennifer Kennison and her husband Dana, of Montgomery, Vt., and Gail Lacey and her husband Phil, of St. Petersburg, Fl. Bruce also leaves Lynn Bissett of Coventry, Ct., Michael Lowry of Nevada, Mo. and Laura Need, M.D. of Arlington, Ma.
Twelve grandchildren were lucky to call Bruce their Grandpa: Joshua Lowry and his wife Rachel, Jesse McKay, Matthew B. Howrey and his wife Michelle, Brianne McKay, Matthew Brewer, Carly Allen and her husband Randy, Whitney (Lyra) McKay, Danielle McKay, Colin Lacey, Grady Kennison, Parker McKay and Alexander McKay. Bruce also is survived by nine great-grandchildren.
Bruce leaves his cherished sister, Janel Carlson, his niece Krista Vinkemulder of Atlanta, Ga., nephew Charles Vinkemulder and his wife Lisa Scali, niece Sara Spidle and her husband Ronald all of Portland, Me., a brother-in-law John (Jack) Court and his wife Sally of Southington Ct., many nieces, nephews and cousins including his cousins in PEI, Canada, his good friends William and Susi Kinsloe-Byers, and Bruce's longtime neighbor Herbert Holmes.
Bruce will be remembered for his kindness and his sense of humor.

Jeannette J. Nadeau (Quirion)
....show , 89, of Blake Street, Newport passed away peacefully with her beloved family by her side on December 2nd, 2016. She was born in St. Gedeon Beauce, PQ on July 17, 1927, the daughter of Simeon and Victoria Quirion.
Jeannette was a strong, loving, beautiful, kind, and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She held strong spiritual beliefs, and for that was blessed with an abundance of love that surrounded her each and every day. For all of us, whose lives Jeannette touched, we were so enriched by her presence.
Jeannette loved her family dearly and walked through life seeing only the positive in each situation. She cherished each one of us individually and taught us to believe in ourselves, to set and achieve our dreams, but most importantly she taught us all how to love. That love was most beautifully represent in her marriage to Maurice Nadeau. Maurice and Jeannette were married on September 2, 1942. Jeannette enjoyed spending time at the camp Maurice and she built together.
She loved knitting, baking homemade goodies, playing cards, and spending time with her animals. Her greatest love was spending time with her family. Her family loved spending time with her as well.
Jeannette is predeceased by her husband, Maurice, and son, Jacques (Jack) Nadeau. She is survived by her children, Nicky Nadeau of Newport, Gilles Nadeau and his wife, Aline of North Carolina, John Nadeau and his wife, Elizabeth of Newport, Nicole Nadeau (the wife of Jacques Nadeau) of Newport, her grandchildren, Marc Nadeau and his wife, Linda of Newport, Sharon Gonyaw and her husband, Jay of Newport, Tina Nadeau of Newport, Joey Nadeau and his wife, Mariadena of South Carolina, Karen Nadeau of South Carolina, Holly Nadeau and Ryan Pronto of Newport, and Glen Nadeau and his partner, Greg Douglass, her great-grandchildren Jacques (Jake) Nadeau, Hailey Nadeau and fiancé, Tyler Bonneau, Andrew Gonyaw, Mitchell Gonyaw, Jordan Eastman, Cade Pronto and her most recent addition to her family her great great-grandchildren Carson Bonneau. She is also survived by her step brother, Henry Nadeau of Toronto, Ontario, her step sister, Marie Beth Mercier of St. Timothy, PQ, sisters Claudette Nadeau of St. Gedeon Beauce, and Jacqueline Lachance of St. George Beauce, PQ and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Curtis-Britch- Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road, Newport on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at St. Mary's Star of the Sea in Newport at 12:30a.m, where a mass of christian burial will be celebrated. A spring interment will take place St. Mary's cemetery in Newport.

Bradley R. Peters, Sr
....show , 80, of Coventry, VT passed away on December 8, 2016 at his home. He was born on August 7, 1936 in Albany, VT to Roy and Betty (Shatney) Peters.
Bradley worked for Ethan Allen MFG for 28 years. He enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling, and riding around listening to country music. He loved Pontiac cars.
He is survived by his children: Betty Peters of Lenoxville, Quebec; Marjorie McClanahan and her husband Larry of San Jose, CA; Mary Payne and her husband Matt of Newport, VT; and Bradley Peters, Jr of Coventry, VT; by his grandchildren: David McGovern, Robert McGovern, Alex McGovern, Elisabeth McGovern, Star O'Keefe and Toma O'Keefe.
He is also survived by his siblings: Alice Coderre of Lunenburg, VT; Geraldine Fuller and her companion Dennis Fields of Sanbornton, NH; Gloria Reams and her husband Clark of Palm Springs, CA; Kathy Pierce and her husband Tim of Hillsboro, NH; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his Dad, Roy Peters, and his Mom, Betty Blanchard, by brother Vernon Peters and his sister Shirley Peters.

Therese L. Sicard
....show , 90, of East Barre Road passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin.
Born in Saint Roch d'Orford, Quebec on August 30, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Louise (Berard) Lafontaine. She was raised in Rock Forest, Quebec where she attended schools.
On July 20, 1953 she married Marcel Sicard in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newport, VT. She was a homemaker during the time her children were growing up.
She resided in Beebe Plains, Vermont where she was employed at Bogner's in Newport, VT from 1973 to 1984. Upon her retirement in 1984, she moved to Newport, VT. After her husband passed away, she then made her home with her daughter, Jeannette Therrien in Barre, VT.
Among her interests were quilting, knitting, word search, traveling to Florida and Arizona and spending precious time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newport, VT and St. Monica Catholic Church of Barre.
Survivors include her daughters, Jeannette (Gilles) Therrien of Barre Town; Diane (Bob) McDowell of Peoria, AZ; Susan (Tim) McGough of Scottsdale, AZ; Cecile (Marc) Griswold of New River, AZ. She is also survived by her sisters, Jeanne Darc Audet of St. Jean, Quebec; Marthe Lafontaine of St. Pie, Que.; brother, Jacques Lafontiane of St. Hubert, Que. as well as 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by one brother, Gerard Lafontaine and one sister, Rita Provincial.
The family would like to take this time to thank the Woodridge Nursing Home for their excellent care and compassion.
A Mass of Christian Burial and celebration of her life will be held at a later date to be announced.
